Chapter 19: Battle Preparation and Possible final goodbyes.
In space, the Death Star is seen making its slow approach to the planet Yavin.
Inside the Death Star's control room, Tarkin along with Vader and Lunaris who was called back up by the Empire are interrupted as they hear the buzz on the comlink as Tarkin quickly answers it.
Tarkin: Yes?
He asked on the comlink.
Intercom Voice: We are approaching the planet Yavin. The Rebel base is on a moon on the far side. We are preparing to orbit the planet.
Back at Yavin's forth Moon, inside the rebel base's war room for preparation for their attack on the Empire where in the center of the room a young female by the name of Dodonna stands in front of the large electronic wall that is currently displayed. Several other senators are seen sitting on one side of the readout. The low ceilinged room is filled with starpilots, navigators, and a sprinkling of robots that are very similar to R2. Han and Chewie are seen standing near the back as everyone else including the Duck family listen to the plans as Dodonna starts to speak.
Dodonna: The battle station is heavily shielded and carries a firepower greater than half the star fleet. Its defenses are designed around a direct large-scale assault. A small one man fighter should be able to penetrate the outer defense.
One rebel pilot fighter known as the Gold Leader makes his stand before he speaks.
Gold Leader: Pardon me for asking, sir, but what good are snub fighters going to be against that?
He asked.
Dodonna: Well, the Empire doesn't consider a small one man fighter to be any threat, or they'd have a tighter defense. An analysis of the plans provided by Princess Leia and her rescuers has demonstrated a weakness in the battle station.
She told the Gold Leader before she continued.
Dodonna: The approach will not be easy. You are required to maneuver straight down this trench and skim the surface to this point. The target area is the thermal exhaust port, right below the main port. The shaft leads directly to the reactor system. A precise hit will start a chain reaction which should destroy the station.
She said while analyzing the Death Star before she continued to speak.
Dodonna: Only a precise hit will set up a chain reaction. The shaft is ray shielded, so you'll have to use portion torpedoes.
A young male pilot known as Wedge Antillies, who was sitting next to Luke and the Duck family started to speak to Luke.
Wedge: That's impossible, even for a computer.
Luke: It's not impossible. I used to bull's eye womp rats in my T sixteen back home. They're much bigger than two meters.
Luke told him.
Dodonna: Man your ships! And may the Force be with you.
She said as everyone started to leave the War Room.
As they Left the War room the Duck family managed to run into Leia.
Leia: There you guys are I was looking everywhere for you guys.
Scrooge: What do you want to talk about to us, your highness?
Leia: I was wondering if maybe we could use your guys' help in defeating the empire because the rebels are gonna need as much fire power as possible if we have any chance at taking them down. However some training is required and launching does not start for a long while so you guys would have time to get the training you need to fight.
Della: Well these crooks managed to invade our home so I think we can give them a lot of pay back for what they did to us and to our home.
Penny: Kind of like what the moonlanders did but much worse and Lunaris must pay for his actions.
Beakley: If these snowmen are capable of destroying your planet and maybe this planet they could do the same thing to our planet and we cannot let that happen.
Scrooge: Not to mention they kidnapped my daughter and my grand nephew.
Leia: I'm assuming that it's a yes then?
She asked as all of the duck members nodded their heads yes.
Leia: Well that's great but all of you can't participate.
She said which surprised them.
Donald: What do you, not all of us your highness?
He asked her.
Leia: I'm afraid the children can't participate in combat training because the average individual has to at least be sixteen to participate.
Dewey: So this means my brothers and sisters are not able to fight?
He asked her.
Leia: I'm afraid that it's a yes.
She said as the kids turned to the adults.
Webby: So you guys are going to fight without us? We can't lose you all.
Huey: Yeah we want to help.
Louie: What the heck are we supposed to do if we can't fight.
May: You guys don't have to do this.
June: Yeah, this is suicide.
Scrooge: Look I know this hard lads but I promise it's gonna be ok and we are gonna be alright.
Della: Yeah, it's best if you guys stay here.
Daisy: I'm pretty sure the rebels have an escape plan in place just in case.
Donald: What if the mission fails and the empire succeeds?
He asked Leia.
Leia: If it fails then we do have a room full of escape pods if things go bad.
Donald: Well just like what she said you kids enter the escape pods so you could all escape.
Duckworth: I think I will stay and keep an eye on the kids.
Scrooge: Thanks Duckworth.
Webby: Can we just have a group hug just in case we don't see each other again.
Launchpad: I think that's a great idea.
The entire Adults took a moment to hug the kids before the kids along with Duckworth were escorted to another room of the base.
Leia: Now follow me to the training room.
Leia said as the rest of the adults follow her to the training to prepare for the attack.
Back in space the Death Star is seen moving around the planet toward the small green moon.
Inside the Death Star Tarkin, Vader, and Lunaris watch the computer projected screen with a circle of lights intertwined around one with another screen showing the Death Star's position in relation to Yavin along with its small moon.
Vader: This will be a day long remembered. It has seen the end of Kenobi and it will soon see the end of the Rebellion.
Lunaris: Not to mention the end of the Mcduck's as well, Lord Vader. Because they along with the rest of the rebellion scum have nowhere to or anywhere to hide from us anymore my Lord.
He said as the Death Star continues to close in on the planet Yavin and its moons.
Back at the rebels base Main Hangar Deck, everyone is getting their ships prepared for the upcoming attack as the Death Star approaches them.
Loudspeaker: All flight troopers, man your stations. All flight troops man your stations.
One of the doors open to reveal Leia leading Scrooge, Donald, Della, Daisy, Launchpad, Penny, and Beakley who are all wearing rebel flight suits to the Hangar.
Leia: So this is where the main Hangar will be when you along with the rest of the Rebel fleets will be taking off. We are using two different types of ships called an X wing and a Y wing. I also have cards to your guys' respective ships.
Leia informed them while handing the six of them cards to the ship they will be taking.
Leia: So the three of you will be taking the X wings and while four of you will be taking the Y wings.
Scrooge: Thank you very much your highness. As well for the opportunity of allowing us to train for this situation.
Della: Yeah, it really was not as bad as I thought it would be.
Launchpad: Especially for some of us that have flying experience.
Leia: Well it is no problem and like what I said before we need as many fighters to align with us as possible.
Daisy: Are the kids ok?
She asked her.
Leia: Yes they are and when things go wrong we will lead them to where the base's escape pods are.
Just then Luke manages to approach them with an annoyed look on his face.
Luke: Hey, guys you all do look good wearing those flight suits.
Donald: You also look good as well Luke.
Della: And we are ready to take these snowman guys on.
Luke: That's what I like to hear but it won't be easy.
Luke then turned to Leia.
Leia: What's wrong?
Luke: Oh it's Han! I don't know, I really thought he'd change his mind.
He said revealing that Han has decided to leave.
Launchpad: That's unfortunate to hear.
Della: Well it's not surprising that he didn't.
Scrooge: Yeah he was pretty much in it only for the money.
Luke: Well yeah but still a part of me felt like he would stay here and help.
Leia: He's got to follow his own path. No one can choose it for him.
Beakley: Yeah seems like he and his hairy friend made their choice now they need to sleep in it.
Penny: I think we still have a chance regardless.
Luke: I only wish Ben were here.
He said feeling down and the others feel the same way as they still could not get over his tragic death and sacrifice.
Leia: Gives Luke a small kiss before heading off.
Luke: Good luck to you all.
Scrooge: Same with you lad.
Luke: May the force be with you guys.
Luke said as he went to his ship.
Scrooge then turned to face everyone else.
Scrooge: Alright lads this is going to be a really tough battle and it is important that all of watch out and stick by with each other for any type of danger that heads our way since this is something that we had never fought before, as well on helping out our allies as much as possible if we are gonna have any chance at defeating the empire, to protect the rebellion, our kids, and save our home from meeting a similar fate. If we have any chance of ever coming back home in peace. So I say we give these impirals everything we got and show them that they had messed with the wrong family and make sure we make them pay for what they have done.
He said as Donald, Della, Launchpad, Daisy, Penny, and Beakley gave him a cheer.
Scrooge: Now that's what I want to hear now let's get ourselves prepared for this fight.
He said as Launchpad and Beakley started to approach Scrooge.
Launchpad: If this is the last time we see each other, I just want to say that was an honor working for and fighting alongside you Mr Mc D.
Scrooge: It was an honor to have you as well LP.
He said as they shook hands.
Beakley: It was also an honor to Scrooge even when we were members of S.H.U.S.H.
Scrooge: Same with you Bentina.
Both of them shook hands.
Scrooge then approached Donald and Della.
Scrooge: If this is the last time I see any of you I just want to say that I love the both of you with all my heart and I always saw you as my own children whenever your parents weren't around.
Donald: Thanks Uncle Scrooge me and Della love you as well.
Della: You were easily another father figure to both of us.
The three of them hugged for a moment.
Scrooge: Both of you be careful out there and good luck my dear Lads.
He said as he started to head to his ship.
Donald and Della looked at each other.
Donald: I'm really nervous Della.
Della: Don't worry Donald if something bad does happen I promise I will rescue you and protect you.
She said as they hugged.
Donald: Good luck sis.
Della: You too bro.
Both of them started to approach their ships.
Della ran into Penny really quick.
Della: Hey roomie.
Penny: Yes Della?
She asked as Della hugged her.
Della: If this is the last time we both see each other I just want to say you were easily the bestest friend that I have ever met when I was stuck on the moon.
Penny: Thanks Della I know I didn't get on the best terms with you at first but as time did go on I also started to see the same thing with you. Well good luck roomie.
Della: Same with you moon bestie.
Donald managed to run into Daisy.
Donald: Hey Daisy. If this is the last time we are seeing each other then I want to know that you are easily the best thing to ever come in my life as one of the very few to understand me and my voice. So I easily love you with all my heart.
Daisy: Awww, Donald! You are easily the sweetest and most loving gentleman I have ever met in my life and I also love you with all my heart as well. I don't even know where I would even be if I had never met you.
The couple then took a moment to kiss each other.
Donald: Be careful out there my sweet Daisy. No matter what happens my heart will always be with you.
Daisy: You be careful too, my sweet Donald. My heart is there for you too.
Both of them also started to head to their ships as the start of the battle was near as everyone started to make their final preparations with the pilots and crewmen making their last adjustments before the official take off.
Not long after the loud speaker started to issue the commands and soon after, the rebel ships slowly took off as the entire fleet started to make their exit out of the rebel base and into the sky as they started to make their approach to the Death Star.
Luke, Scrooge, Donald, and Della flew in the X wing ships. While Launchpad, Beakley, Daisy, and Penny flew in the Y wing ships.
Inside the base's War room Leia is seen with 3PO, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Webby, May, June, and many other rebelion members as they sit in front of a giant display showing Yavin and its four moons. The red dot in the not far distance represents the Death star as it is near Yavins system.
Loudspeaker: Stand by alert. Death Star approaching. Estimated time to firing range, fifteen minutes.
The loudspeaker said as many people in the room grew concerned including the duck kids as they could only watch in horror as their older family members were about to be out in space risking their own lives in the upcoming battle.
