Thundering explosions can be heard in the background and a person breathing heavily while looking at a picture in their hands. Six people were running through an apocalypse wasteland as a war was raging on. A capybara mutant has a gun and fires against the enemies just as one of the purple fighter drones comes crashing down and exploding. They were being pursued by what looked like mutated dogs as robots of some kind were attacking the other members of the resistance in the distance. One of them is clutching their abdomen while the other is carrying their weight, running as fast as they can to reach their destination.

"We got you, Sensei. Stay with us." A young teen by the age of 15 said. The teen was wearing a mask and his gear was built for war.

He was carrying an older yet familiar mutant red eared slider turtle. This is Leonardo, age 44. He was injured in battle but he was thankfully rescued by the five young teens. The four others were mutant turtles as well and all were girls but were a mix of four different kinds of turtles.

One of them was a light green red eared slider with silver eyes and the same markings of one. She was wearing a mask of two colors which was blue and a cyan color. She has two weapons. One of them was an odachi and the other was a naginata.

The second was a mix of what appeared to be both an alligator snapping and Leatherback sea turtles. She was wearing a red and bright magenta mask and has a pair of tonfa and says connected by a chain.

The third one was a mix between a spiny softshell and Golden coin turtles. She was wearing a cream and purple mask. Red and blue goggles and a weapon that's familiar which was a bo-staff but has a hidden feature which is two swords connected by a chain.

The last one was a mix between an ornate box and Hawksbill Sea turtles. She has freckles and is wearing a yellow and orange mask and has both a nunchucks and kusari-fundo.

"You're a lifesaver, Casey Jones." Leonardo said with a relief yet pained smile. The teen pressed a button to lift up the mask and reveal his face.

"I learned from the best. Come on, we're almost there." Casey said as they continued running.

"So far so good." The youngest, Opal, said as she was worried for her uncle and teacher.

They were heading to the fallen statue of liberty. The year was 2044 and an alien race took over it in a matter of days and humanity has been dwindling rapidly and they were the only survivors.

Amethyst didn't see where she was going and tripped over some stones and fell down with a yelp.

"Amethyst!" Amora shouted and ran back to her but froze when mutant dogs jumped and was about to pounce on them only for a voice to save them as.

"Bad doggies!" An aged and familiar voice shouted as powerful glowing chains stopped the monsters from attacking the teen who scrambled towards the others.

Casey and Leonardo got up as the older slider looked back along with the kids with a knowing smile.

"Just in time, dad." Opal smiled in relief.

"Impeccable timing, little brother. Very dramatic." Leonardo smiled.

In the middle of the chains, 39 year old Michelangelo somehow was floating as he unleashed more chains towards the monsters as an exploding bright golden light shined in their location.

Casey and the young slider, Kiko, sets Leonardo down on a pile of rocks and decaying skulls, the latter grunting in pain as the wise warrior hovers over to see what happened.

"Amora, do you have anything to relieve the pain and stop the bleeding?" Kiko asked her bigger cousin.

"I lost my other medical supplies while we were running. The medical supplies were back in the base which is now overrun by these monsters." Amora said as she took out her last roll of bandages and wrapped it around Leonardo's wound as best as she could as the latter winced in pain.

Casey felt tears in his eyes as he looked at the aged box turtle for help.

"Help him, Michelangelo. He's hurt bad." Casey pleaded.

Leo removes his red-stained hand from his stomach and sees blood on his prosthetic and realizes he's heavily wounded as the group witnesses the remaining robots cause more destruction. Years of trying to fight back against the enemies and they're the only ones left...

"That's it. The resistance failed. The Kraang won." Leonardo said grimly as the five teens were shocked.

"What? But, father, we can't! We can't lose to those monsters!" Kiko shouted in dread and shock but Leonardo gave his daughter a smile even though it was painful.

"But… but it isn't over. We've still got a ninja's greatest weapon… hope." Leonardo said before he turned to his remaining brother.

"That and a badass mystic warrior." He said before grunting as he knew this was risky but it's their only chance.

"Mikey, we need a time gateway." He said just as Michelangelo's eyes widened slightly.

"It'll take everything I have." He told him and Leonardo looked at him grimly.

"I know, but this is our last chance. It's our only chance." Leonardo said as Opal's eyes widened realizing what her father was planning.

"Daddy, please! Don't do this..." She pleaded as she looked at her father.

"I already lost mommy to them... I don't wanna lose you too!" She sobbed.

Michelangelo felt a lump in his throat before floating towards his daughter and gave her one last hug, who instantly hugged back tightly as she sobbed and nuzzled her father's plastron.

Michelangelo felt tears in his eyes but he held them back as he kissed his daughter on the head and looked at her as she sniffed with tears streaking down her face.

"Opal, it's okay. Just know this. I'm really proud of you and what you will achieve." Michelangelo said as he wiped her tears away.

"And... You're the best thing to ever happen to me and Plum, Sunshine." Michelangelo said tearfully before he hugged her one last time as Amora came to them as they let go.

Opal sobbed softly and whimpered from the loss of her father's warmth who floated a few distance from them to create the time gateway. Leonardo gave his nieces and daughter a saddened look as Casey didn't understand what was going on or where Michelangelo was going.

"Wait, what's going on? Where is he going?" Casey asked before Leonardo winced as his bandaid side was stained with blood.

He looked at his remaining family and knew their time was short.

"Kids, listen." He motioned for them to come closer.

Michelangelo landed on a spot and spun around in a circle which glowed and followed his movements. He made a motion with his hands which started to spark.l before stretching out his arms in front of him with a strained look

"The Krang first came to our planet through a mystic doorway." Leonardo explained before taking out the picture and used a stone to draw what the key looked like at the back of it.

"The key that opened the doorway looked like this." He said as he gave it to his daughter who looked at it in confusion.

"Why are you telling us this, father?" She asked in confusion.

"Yeah. Why are you telling us this, Sensei?" Casey asked in confusion with the others looking confused.

"Because Mikey's about to send all of you back in time to the day that the key was stolen." Leonardo said as Amethyst looked shocked.

"That's impossible, Uncle Leonardo. Time travel is an impossible technique to master and it has never been done before." Amethyst said before Amora looked at what her uncle was doing and realized why he was doing this.

"Is... Is that what Uncle Michelangelo is doing?" She asked in shock as Leonardo nodded.

"Yes, Amora. He's gonna open a time gateway to send you all back to the year and day the invasion happened."

"Wait, he's gonna what?!" Casey exclaimed in shock.

Michelangelo continues to pour his energy and powers into creating the gateway as a portal begins to open up but as a result, cracks start to form on his arms which make him grit his teeth in pain but he bears with it and continues to create the portal. He has to do this. He has to do this to at least give his daughter, nieces and Casey a better future.

"The people who stole that key opened the doorway for the Krang. You five have to find it before that happens." Leonardo told them and Kiko and Casey felt the weight of the mission fall on their shoulders as they listened.

"Find the key, stop the Krang." He said in a serious tone.

"F-Father, we... We can't just-" Kiko tried to protest but Leonardo cut her off. Their time was limited.

"Say it!" He told her urgently.

"'Find the key, stop the Krang.'" Casey repeated and Leonardo patted his shoulder with a soft smile.

Kiko tears up as she looks at her father while gripping her mother's naginata. She went back to where her mother was killed and retrieved the weapon as it was the only memory of her mother that was left.

"Father, come with us. Please. I can't lose you. I already lost mom... I... I can't lose you as well..." She sobbed softly and Leonardo just offered her a smile before hugging her tightly as tears fell from their eyes.

"Anatawa Hitorijanai." He whispered before pulling away.

He took off the scarf he got from his dad and put it around his daughter's neck who looked at him sadly.

Casey held his Sensei's hand as tears sting his eyes.

"I don't wanna lose you, Sensei..." He said as Leo just smiled softly.

"Casey, kids. It's not about me." He said but their moment was interrupted by a blaring red light shining down on them and Amora held Opal close to her as Kiko growled with Amethyst as they wielded their weapons.

"They found us!" Casey shouted as he and the turtle kids got their weapons ready but another light shined on them causing them to gasp in shock and horror as they were surrounded.

Leonardo gritted his teeth and looked towards Mikey.

"Mikey!" Leonardo shouted urgently.

Michelangelo noticed the cracks spreading quickly all over his body, already knowing that he would soon join his family as he didn't care what happened to him and he kept on going, glowing cracks starting to spread around his body.

Opal saw that and new tears came down from her eyes.

"FATHER, DON'T!" She wailed in despair as Casey saw it as well.

"Master Michelangelo, no! You're gonna-" Casey shouted but didn't get to finish.

Looking back at Casey and his family, Michelangelo gave them one last smile and winks. The portal forms completely as Michelangelo spreads his arms out as he bursts away into golden dust. Opal felt her whole world shattered in front of her as Amora covered her mouth in shock.

Holding his sword, Leo drops his gaze to stop the tears then grins at the completed portal.

"Get into the portal. Now!" He told them quickly. Amora picked up Opal who felt frozen in shock as she and Amethyst rushed into the portal with hesitance.

All that was left was Kiko, Casey and Leonardo as a giant mech that aimed its red robotic eye at them. Leo put his hand on the two as two monsters got ready to pounce.

"Casey, Kiko…" He began as the two looked at him in shock.

"When you're done saving the world, do me a favor." He looked at them with a smile.

Kiko and Casey felt their world shift and they realized that they were both thrown back towards the portal as they heard what Leonardo said.

"Grab a slice!"

Time seemed to slow down as they watched Leonardo looking back at them one last time with a smile as he fought off the Kraang but a red light hit Leonardo as Kiko let out a gut wrenching cry as the two teens screamed while falling through the portal.

Kiko groaned as she felt someone shaking her.

"Is she okay?" She heard.

"Guys, give her some space." Another said. She opened her eyes to see Opal, Amethyst and Amora looking down on her.

"You okay, Kiko?" Opal sniffed as Kiko sat up.

"I think so. Where's Casey?" She asked.

"Over there." Amora pointed. They went to the teen who groaned and regained consciousness.

"Huh?" Casey got up.

"Guys? Where…" Casey started as he looked around in confusion and awe.

"Yeah, it shocked us too when we went through the portal." Amora said as she stayed near their group.

"That means..." Casey started as he and the girls looked to the sky.

"We made it?" He said in shock.

"I think we did..." Opal sniffed as she held Amethyst's hand for comfort, feeling overwhelmed by their sudden changes in environment.

"So this is what the past looked like?" Amethyst asked in overwhelmed shock and confusion.

"Guys, we can't gawk at everything for now. We have a mission to do." Kiko reminded them.

"Kiko's right." Amora said with a determined look.

"All right, girls, here we go. Find the key, stop the Krang." Casey reminded them as they all headed out to find the artifact that was the cause of the destruction of the world.

It's a race against time. One that will be the fate of their worlds and home.
