Disclaimer: I do not own Assassination Classroom or it's characters along with Charles Dickson's Christmas Carol. Assassination Classroom belongs to Yusei Matsui and I am just using these characters for fun and not profit.
I was inspired to write this story for a while after reading Chun Li's Christmas Carol by Snafu the Great years ago and I wanted to write something like this after reading all 21 volumes of Assassination Classroom. I still need to finish watching the anime. Before I forget I want to thank Snafu the Great for letting me use this opening to the story as I made sure to ask him first by PM. So without further ado let's begin this tale.

Chapter One
Karasuma's Trial
In the city of Tokyo there was a couple that was walking together that was enjoying the sites for this time of year. It was December 24 which happen to be Christmas Eve as everyone was out doing last minute shopping while others were hurrying over to their homes to wrap up gifts for their loved ones. The two people in question was a man and a woman who were making their way over to their home after they had dinner together at a fancy restaurant.
The woman was a tall and beautiful fair-skinned young woman with wavy, hip-length blonde hair, large light blue eyes, long legs, and a curvaceous figure that most woman would kill for. Unknown to many this woman was a former assassin who radiated confidence and was even a former school teacher hired at one time to kill someone at the school she was undercover at. This was Irina Jelavic as she was dressed in a light brown sweater while wearing a leather jacket, along with wearing leather gloves, denim jeans and a pair of black snow boots who had her arm interlinked with the man beside her.
The man in question was a handsome young man with spiky black hair and eyebrows and had piercing dark eyes. He was tall and had a muscular build while he was dressed in a professional black business suit with a white shirt and a black tie. He was also wearing a winter trench coat to help keep him warm. This man was none other then Tadaomi Karasuma a former member of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and was now an agent to the Ministry of Defense.
It had been four years since the two had worked together when they were teachers undercover at the time at a school known as Kunugigaoka Junior High School were the two were assigned to teach the students of Class 3-E to kill a former assassin turned teacher who was named by one of the students as Korosensei, who had once been known as The Grim Reaper.
The task had not been easy as Korosensei had superhuman ability's dew to an experiment done to him by a mad scientist named Kotaro Yanagisawa, who was initially known as Shiro. It was dew to him creating the Antimatter Tentacles that made the former assassin turned teacher into what he was and he was also responsible for the death of Kaede Kayano's older sister Aguri Yukimura.
It had pained the students of Class 3-E to end their teachers life but it was something that needed to be done. The children had mourned for Korosensei but had honored his memory on several occasions, one of them being Christmas as they usually got together when they could to celebrate together during this time of year.
"Tonight is beautiful isn't it Irina?" Tadaomi asked his lover beside him.
"It sure is." Irina said as she leaned in and kissed him on the check. "Being with you and the students from a couple years ago have gotten me to appreciate Christmas more then I did before. It's even better if it's with someone you love."
"That it is Irina and it will be nice to see our former students again." Tadaomi said before he added nervously. "I just honestly hope it will be better then the last two Christmas's we had."
"Me too Karasuma as I want this one to be special since you didn't get to see everyone last year, or the year before that." Irina said as she wanted this Christmas to be special for the both of them as they went through a lot. A thought came to her mind.
"So when do you think we can get married?"
"Pretty soon Irina. I think we can plan for the wedding in two months time and we can move in together as we had to live separately for a while with the missions we've done."
Irina sighed about that as she did move in with Karasuma for a few months but decided to take things slow with him and moved into an apartment that was a few blocks away from his house. Karasuma understood as both wanted to take it one step at a time before getting married. On a few occasions she stayed the night at his home and he at hers. They made sure to have their special time at Karasuma's home though during the nights they made love as Irina's neighbors did complain once or twice about keeping them up at night.
It was then that someone called out to them.
"Miss Jelavic! Uncle it's good to see you!"
The two looked out to who called to them as the person in question was a young man making his way over to them while waving happily with one arm while carrying some gifts under the other. Irina smiled and waved back though she noticed how Karasuma frowned seeing him though she greeted him back.
"Shinji Merry Christmas!"
Shinji Karasuma was a young man around the age of nineteen as he waved happily at the couple. He was about six feet in height and was lean but a little built. He had medium-length straight brown hair and Grey-blue eyes. Currently he was dressed in a winter black coat while wearing blue jeans along with black snow boots.
Authors Note: For a better description imaging him as an older version of Shinji Ikari.
The young man stopped in front of the couple to catch his breath before speaking to the couple.
"Merry Christmas to you as well Miss Jelavic! Uncle it's good to see you again as I haven't spoken to you in a while."
"I've been busy Shinji as you should know my career by now." Karasuma spoke to his nephew in a neutral tone which didn't go unnoticed by his lover.
"You should learn to take some time off and enjoy the holidays. Especially when it's Christmas as it comes only once a year. Anyway I was hoping if you two would like to come over to my place for Christmas dinner with me and my wife. Heck you can even invite those kids you two once told me about."
Shinji's uncle shook his head indicating he was saying no.
"I'm sorry Shinji but the two of us already have plans for tomorrow."
"But this Christmas is important for me. I want you to meet my wife's family as I've said many good things about you. Besides you already missed three Christmas's with me while you got to spend it with Irina and your students once three years ago. And even Irina told me how you missed the last two Christmas's with her before."
"She told you about that?" Karasuma looked at his lover with a questing gaze which she simply raised her eyebrow at him.
"I don't see what's the big deal in meeting Shinji's in-laws. Plus we barely meet him and I talk to him and his wife on occasions over the phone."
Karasuma sighed while pinching the sides of his nose.
"Listen Shinji I'm not so sure if your in-laws would want a bunch of strangers over for Christmas as our former students do have family's of their own to spend time with. Plus we have meet your wife and family on a few occasions so you shouldn't get upset over it."
"But uncle something important is going on and I want to share it with you!" Karasuma's nephew pleaded a bit. Irina wanted to say something but she wasn't sure what to say concerning the issue. Her lover spoke once more.
"Shinji whatever it is it can wait until tomorrow or even after Christmas as it's most likely just one of your hobbies or things about your own job as a mangaka."
Shinji frowned at his uncle and it looked like he wanted to say something but couldn't. Irina could tell that the young man was trying to hold back his tears. Finally Shinji sighed before speaking again though his tone was less then happy then it had been before.
"I understand...Tadaomi. I'll just let everyone know that you won't be able to make it this year as you already made plans with your fiancee. Good evening to you both."
Before anything else could be said Shinji turned and walked away from the couple going back the way he came before disappearing into the crowd. When he was gone Irina turned to look at her fiancee with a look of disappointment.
"What the hell Karasuma? You're nephew looked like he was about to cry after what you just said to him!"
"I don't know what the issue is as we do meet with him and his wife once in a while. Plus he wanted me to bring over our former students which honestly I don't feel comfortable about."
The blond woman glared at him before replying.
"Don't give me that! You may think I haven't noticed it but every time we do meet with your nephew it's like you try to avoid him any chance you get. Plus I noticed how you stare at him like you blame him for something that happen to you. So what is your deal with Shinji?"
Irina's lover looked a bit conflicted as he didn't know what to say. He could only sigh once more before looking away from her.
"You wouldn't understand what happen between us. It's...something that I don't like to bring up."
Before anything else could be said Karasuma's phone started to go off ending the conversation between the two.
"I need to take this Irina, give me a minute please."
Karasuma took out his phone and began to speak.
"Agent Karasuma here."
"Karasuma, it's Iwamoto." The voice on the other line at the end spoke. "You're needed on the Yakuza case concerning the Sumiyoshi-kai clan. Koboyashi doesn't know his way around it if you gave him a road map and a compass."
Tadaomi sighed. Lieutenant Iwamoto had a lot of people around, and it just so happened that he was the best in the branch. "Are you sure there aren't any others who could do it?" he asked as he didn't want to deal with this during the holidays.
"None who could get the results needed in the window we're giving. I've run through the list," Iwamoto replied. "I need the best in Japan as soon as I can get here to help."
"I'll get on it right away sir," Karasuma replied. "I'll start first thing the day after Christmas."
"No Karasuma. You start tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?" Karasuma repeated shocked. "But sir tomorrow is Christmas and I'm spending time with my fiancee and some friends of our."
"And you are needed on this case," Iwamoto insisted. "You know more about the case then anyone else and if you close this case by the end of the week, then you will earn that three-week vacation that you requested along with whatever else I can get for you." When Karasuma was going to argue Iwamoto added, "Remember that I am still your superior and this is not negotiable."
Karasuma sighed. "Yes sir." He then ended the call.
When he turned around, he immediately noticed the look of disbelief on Irina's face.
"You're working on Christmas again?" The way she said it was more of a statement then a question.
For the past two Christmas's Karasuma had worked through them. He had made it up to her and then some more, but even her patience was wearing thin. While Irina didn't celebrate Christmas as much as she use to, considering the loss of her parents, she had hoped to relive that feeling of joy of the holiday through her lover and believed in taking some time off from work.
And for the last three Christmas's, Irina was alone while Karasuma was at work. Irina knew that Karasuma loved his job, but he was starting to become a workaholic. Even though she supported him, the strain on her tolerance was starting to show.
Karasuma gave Irina an apologetic look. "I'm sorry Irina, but I'm needed on this case involving the Yakuza."
"Of course," Irina replied. "Whenever there is trouble just call Tadaomi Karasuma, the greatest agent in all of Japan."
Tadaomi frowned as he felt the sarcasm in that remark. "Irina that was uncalled for even from you. I don't know why you are so upset about this."
"It's not about the case Tadaomi," Irina replied. "You're working on Christmas day which is a time to be spent with family and friends! And for the last two Christmas's I've had to meet with our former students alone for the past two years. Heck we haven't even gotten married yet."
"I told you before Irina that we will get married but I don't want to rush into it yet especially if something like this comes up." Tadaomi sighed before speaking again. "I'm sorry Irina I really am but Lieutenant Iwamoto is my superior so I have to follow orders. I promise I will make it up to you as he has promised me a three-week vacation and I can make it up to you and we can even get married during the vacation."
"It's just not the same!" Irina said anger evident in her voice. "I wanted to spend Christmas with the man I actually love which is you. But it's clear you love your job even more. You want to work on Christmas instead of spending time with me? Fine! Have fun at work tomorrow Inspector Karasuma."
She finished with sarcasm in her voice.
With that Irina turned around and walked off as she hoped to catch a taxi for on the way home, leaving Karasuma fuming.
( Damn it why doesn't she understand? ) He thought darkly. Tadaomi knew that his job as an agent for Japan wasn't easy being in a relationship with someone outside the Ministry of Defense or even with other people who worked in law enforcement. He knew it hurt him and those close to him to work, even if Lieutenant Iwamoto made good with his promises in spades. With the results the Tokyo branch got, which were the best and highest in the Ministry of Defense Iwamoto could do anything he pleased.
He didn't like working on those last two Christmas's either, but it was for a good cause to take care of the threats that came to Japan.
He believed that he could settle down with someone after the events from four years ago and it was thanks to someone like the students of 3-E and Korosensei that he managed to find someone special like Irina. He didn't want to do this to Irina but Iwamoto made it where he didn't have a choice.
He was now pissed as the romantic mood was ruined with what happened tonight.
( Maybe I can get started early on this, ) he thought as he headed to his office. ( Maybe I can still make it to the party with Irina and meet up with everyone. )
With Irina...
Irina was angry and for good reason. Though she had been warned by one of Tadaomi's coworkers that being involved with someone who worked for the Ministry or law enforcement had sacrifices that needed to be made, and even then they might now get any reimbursement for it.
( Damn his boss, ) She thought darkly as she was in a taxi making her way home. ( He always told me that he puts him on cases on Christmas. But it isn't the same, even when he makes it up to me. Christmas is supposed to be special with not only friends but with family and his job isn't helping. )Irina closed her eyes as she clenched her fists. ( I wanted to give him something special and even tell him something important, but now I'm not so sure if I want to. )
Ever since they started a relationship she honestly hoped to settle down and have someone to be there for her and...maybe even have a family. She hoped that Tadaomi Karasuma would be that someone but now she wasn't sure anymore as he was the 'go-to people' when the best were needed.
But even a 'go-to person' needs time off, which he wasn't willing to give up because his job demanded it.
( I can't take it anymore, ) she thought darkly. ( I can't give my life to him if he's not willing to up even a day of his no matter the reason. This is going to be the third Christmas it will happen to me...and the last one, one way or another. )
Back with Karasuma...
Karasuma decided to go to one of the offices that he worked at during the day which was owned by the Ministry which was an unmarked six-story building complete with an underground parking garage, which was only accessible to those with an identification card and giving a secret password to enter.
Aside from the main offices, the building also housed a firing range, several conferences rooms, a training area, and a workout room. Currently Tadaomi Karasuma was in the former, venting his frustrations on his third paper target. Before doing so he hit the gym to vent his frustration out on the punching bag which ended up the chain holding it getting snapped after Karasuma delivered a fierce roundhouse kick sending it flying into the wall.
Even after taking his frustration out in the gym, he wasn't satisfied. He left after putting the bag away and took the elevator to the fourth floor, where his office was located.
Being an agent had it's perks. One of which he had his own private office, which was located inside the squad room. Karasuma entered his office looking at the mountain of paperwork that was on his desk and frowned.
His boss was a paper-pushing bureaucrat by the name of Iwamoto, had ordered him to work on a case involving one of the top Yakuza. He was also the main reason that he missed the last two Christmas's with Irina and possibly a third if this kept up. He was just lucky he didn't miss one Christmas with her and their former students.
He sighed as he sat at his desk. ( It's days like this I wish I was still working in the field as with the JASDF. )
Karasuma did enjoy flying the sky's when he was a much younger man and used to fly on his day's off to relieve the feeling of being through the air but not as much anymore. He did love working for the Ministry of Defense as despite the occasional mountains of paperwork, he enjoyed his job. He also enjoyed training new recruits as it reminded him of his time with Nagisa Shiota and the rest of the students from Class 3-E.
Thinking about his former students made him think back on what happen between him and Irina hours ago as he leaned back in his chair. Sighing he looked around as the squad room was nearly empty, since everyone else knew was at home for Christmas. He recognized one agent who was going over some paperwork while eating some Christmas cookies and listening to some music.
Shaking his head he focused back on his work while thinking over about Irina.
( We've been through this already, ) He thought to himself. ( I didn't say anything to her when she wanted to join up and work with me after we saved the world. Why is she so worked up about spending Christmas with me and everyone else? It's just another silly holiday. She'll understand when I make it up to her. )
He stopped in his work for a moment to look at a pictures on his desk. One was of him and his younger sister as they stood with their parents smiling happily in front of their home. The second picture was that of himself and former partner. The man was of Ukrainian and Japanese decent, as he was a tall man with short black hair and blue eyes and was built like a wrestler.
Eric Akitsuki was Tadaomi Karasuma's first-and last- partner. He was about six years older then Karasuma and was a veteran of the Ministry of Defense. Peter had taken Karasuma under his wing when he first started showing him the ropes. As a result, he looked up to him and even respected the older man. Some of his colleges even joked about how Eric looked like that X-Men character Colossus.
Ironically the day before, it was the anniversary of his death.
He was killed during an attempted assassination of The Prime Minister of Japan. There was going to be a diplomat from China visiting to discuss a trade deal. When the meeting was to take place the assassin's attempted to gun down both the Prime Minister and the diplomat. Eric used his body as a shield to save both of them but at the cost of his life.
Karasuma was away at the time, attending a law enforcement seminar when he received the news of Eric's death. He managed to return in time for the funeral.
His eyelids started to feel like they were getting heavy. Yawning, he realized that he had been awake since six in the morning, buying a some gifts for Irina, along with their former apprentices from Kunugigaoka.
Before he knew it, Tadaomi Karasuma had dozed off, his head slumping forward.
Later...
Karasuma had woken up as he looked at the time of his clock seeing that two hours had passed, while seeing that the remaining agent was gone. It was late at night but it was safe as no one could enter the building without an ID card and even those were hard to copy by the world's best forgers.
He decided to go back home but then he felt that something was really wrong. It felt as if something was out of place but he couldn't put his finger on it. Walking out the main corridor he poked his head out, hand at his side. Then he mentally cursed as he realized that he left his gun at home. Looking to his left and then to his right he saw the hall was deserted.
"I must have been working too hard." He said to himself before he turned back around to go in his office, but when he did he was face to face with the last person he expected to see. This person was a tall man with short black hair, and dressed in a standard suit for the Ministry of Defense.
Tadaomi Karasuma was looking into the face of his dead partner, Eric Akitsuki.
"Boo." Eric deadpanned.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Karasuma screamed as he fell backwards landing on his rear end looking up at the dead man before him.
"E-E-Eric?!" Karasuma stuttered.
"Hi there buddy." Eric spoke nonchalant as if it was no big deal.
"But that's not possible! You're...You're..."
"Dead as a door nail?" His former partner inquired.
Karasuma shook his head in disbelief. "I think there was something in that eggnog I drank earlier," he muttered. "I'm talking to a ghost."
"No there was nothing in the eggnog that Hinata brought in." Eric inquired. "Although on occasion I've seen some people spike it for the hell of it." He chuckled before he became serious. "We need to talk so have a seat."
Karasuma was unsure at first but slowly got up while making his way over to his desk. Once he did he sat down to face his former partner. "So what did you want to talk about?"
"This isn't a social visit so you know. I'm here to warn you old friend."
"Warm me? About what?"
"This is going to be what? The third Christmas you got to work through now?" Eric inquired. "You're following the same path I took when I was alive."
"What do you mean 'the same path?' You were one of the best agents."
Eric smiled sadly. "That's true, but the price I paid was too damn high." He then sat down in front of Karasuma's desk in a chair. "There are some things you don't know about me Karasuma. One of which was I had a fiancee like you back in Kyoto. However I was placing my job before her and one day, I found her in bed with another man, three weeks before our wedding day."
"I...I didn't know." Karasuma said surprised. "You never told anybody about that?"
Eric shook his head. "No one knew. Not even after I pistol-whipped that guy and gave my former lover one for what she did. As a result of that, I transferred to Tokyo. That was where I met you. You were still a little green, but you turned out well, especially after saving the world. But you're in danger, Karasuma. I never told anyone this but after I came here, I threw myself into my work, hoping to bury my pain. And it worked. I did become one of the best agents. But I also alienated my closest friends and family in the process. When I died, no one cared. Not one person from my family showed up to my funeral. And now you're in danger of walking down the same path I took."
"In danger from what?"
"Yourself," Eric replied. "I've seen your fiancee. The foreign beauty who was once an assassin. She's a bit childish at times but she is a good woman deep down and you got good taste my friend. I can see she has eyes only for you as you helped changed her for the better. Same with those kids you helped trained. But if you work this Christmas Day, she might say to hell with it and leave you for good."
"I did work one Christmas three years ago and only missed two after that," Karasuma pointed out. "She didn't leave over it and Iwamoto did promise me that three-week vacation next month, so it's not a big deal as I can make it up to her."
Before Karasuma knew it, he was slammed against the wall while being held by the throat, gasping in surprise and pain as he looked into Eric's eyes who had a look of pure anger in them.
"God damn it Karasuma! This isn't something to just brush off!" Eric shouted as he held Karasuma against the wall while glaring at him. "I knew you were dense at times, but you are being pig headed and stubborn! I'm trying to warn you and your not listening! This job isn't worth losing the woman you love or your friends and family over!" He then calmed down before dropping him to the ground. "I just hope that the spirits can get through to you better then I can."
"Spirits? What spirits?"
Eric looked down at him. "Tonight you will be getting a visit from three spirits. The first spirit will arrive at one am. The second will arrive at two and the third will be at three. You better listen to them or you won't like the outcome."
"Can't I just meet them all at once and get it over with?" Karasuma asked.
"No and don't be stubborn about it. I hope you hear them out and avoid my faith." Eric smiled down. "I'll see you around and this is so you don't forget." Eric raised his right hand and brought it down in a chopping motion.
WHACK!
"OW!"
Karasuma's head snapped up with his eyes wide open while looking around. He saw that he was still sitting in his office and looked around for Peter but didn't see him anywhere. The agent that was there earlier was now gone, the radio still playing Christmas's songs.
( That was one weird dream. ) Karasuma thought before he stood up and winched as he felt pain on the top of his head. ( That even FELT real. I think I might be working too hard and better get home soon. )
Gathering up his trench coat and making sure he had his car keys, he exited the office. He went down the hall to where the elevator was and made his way down to the parking garage. He made his way over to his car which was a black 2012 Toyota Camry.
The ride home took about thirty five minutes, giving the Christmas traffic. When he reached home after parking he made his way inside to shower after a long day. After cleaning himself and dressing into his sleepwear he thought back on Eric's words to him.
( Just what did he mean I was in danger of myself? And what did he mean I was following the same path as him? All I'm doing is living my life and just doing my job. )
Before heading to bed, Karasuma made sure to lock both the front and backdoor of his home, knowing that he gave Irina a spare key to get in. His home was simple as it is since it had a small coffee table in the front room with a wide screen TV, and a couch. The kitchen had a small table and a fridge which showed it was made for one or two people.
Karasuma came to his room which was had a regular sized bed, a desk and a computer. His dresser was next to his bed which had an electric alarm clock on it. Setting the time to 7:15 AM. He then tried calling Irina at her apartment but she didn't answer.
( She might already be asleep or is ignoring me. ) He thought, yawning.
He then turned off the lights to his room before lying down on his bed pulling the covers over himself. With in a few minutes Karasuma was fast asleep.
Little did he know that tonight would be a wild night, which he wouldn't forget.
To Be Continued...
Author's note
Hello everyone I'm back and I haven't been motivated in a while as too many ideas going through my head, real life being a drag and watching new anime left and right while reading new manga. I've had an idea about writing a Christmas Carol before with a manga series but didn't know what series to try it with. I thought about using Bleach but then I decided it wouldn't work. So after god knows how many years I finally found a series to use and it's Assassination Classroom. I haven't read the manga in a while as it's hard to remember 21 volumes. Plus I looked up on the wiki to make sure I didn't miss anything and I may have missed this while reading the manga but I learned that Tadaomi Karasuma had a sister and parents but both are deceased. Don't know when they died but I figure this would be perfect. I want to thank Snafu the Great again for giving me the okay to use the opening from one of his stories to use for this one, which is Chun Li's Christmas Carol.
But there are some things I want to get off my chest. Last year in 2022 was a terrible year as it felt like 2015 all over again with a lot of famous people dying. One of them being Billy Kametz who did the voice for Roman Torchwick from RWBY and the voice of Naofumi Iwatani from The Rising of the Shield Hero, along with many other anime series.
But I was even more upset when Kevin Conroy had died as he wasn't just the voice of Batman. He was THE Batman and I cried for not only him but one of my hero's from watching on TV from childhood, which was Jason David Frank who was better known for his role as Tommy Oliver from the Power Rangers.
If that wasn't bad enough this year we lost Arleen Sorkin who did the voice of Harley Quinn from Batman the animated series, along with Johnny Hardwick who voiced Dale Gribble from King of the Hill.
We also lost two wrestling legends which happen to be Terry Funk and Windham Rotunda who was better known as Bray Wyatt. My condolences go out to the family and friends of the people I mentioned this chapter. Before I forget again, Iwamoto's character design is based off of Yu Yu Hakusho's Iwamoto. Also I had to make some changes for this as I saw some mistakes I made.
I'll try to get the next chapter ready when I can.
Until Next Time.
