Three weeks after Maria's birthday, she and Thomas were down in Perry's base.
"There we go, the new monitor should be working now, Major Monogram," said Maria as she got out from under the control panel before moving over to stand next to Thomas.
"And Perry's new jetpack is ready," said Thomas.
"Thank you, children," said Major Monogram as he appeared on screen.
"You have been a great help since joining the agency and I can't thank you enough for everything you have done," he said.
"We're happy to help, sir," said Maria.
"But our friends are starting to question us since we haven't built any projects or hung out with them lately," said Thomas.
"Then you should take the week off," said Phineas as he and Ferb walked in.
"You're still young so you should have some fun," said Ferb.
"Alright, I have an idea for a better roller coaster than what you two made all those years ago," said Maria with an eager smile.
"Cool," said Thomas before they rushed off.
"Those two remind me of you two when you were younger," said Carl as he appeared next to Major Monogram on the monitor.
"In some ways," said Phineas.
"If we hired humans as agents then I might have offered them to join that way," said Major Monogram.
"They may have even accepted the offer," said Ferb.
"But the two are happy being techs, and I'm happy that they aren't being put in too much danger by being here and not in the field," said Phineas while checking out the jetpack Thomas had made.
"I understand where you are coming from, and I do have to say that they earn their pay," said Major Monogram.
"They're getting paid?!" asked Carl.
"But I've been working here longer and I'm still on the unpaid employee list, how can you be paying them already?!" he asked.
"And that's our cue to go," said Phineas as he and Ferb left.
