Okay, a couple of things.
- This is another wiring prompt from love-me-a-good-prompt on twitter. I choose "Bad Day?"
- This is also a reminder about how awesome Sakura is. I know that a lot of people think she's "useless" but I don't think so. She had a lot of feats and did amazingly well during the war. Not going to forget the Shin fight she had in Boruto, she did more than what Sasuke and Naruto could do.
- For the people who read my stuff, I guess I have been doing Sakura and Itachi a disservice. I have had people point out that she didn't end up with Itachi in the end in some of my fics involving him, so I hope this makes up for it.
- If you work in the medical field, you'll be the first to know how depressing it is to have patients that just doesn't listen to you. It sucks and hurts morale. I couldn't imagine what Sakura goes through.
Anywho, enjoy the fic. I hope this rights some wrongs!
"Bad day?
It really was a long day. Normally when Sakura thinks this to herself, they aren't too bad, but today the day genuinely was bad.
She loved being a doctor, loved the idea that she could help the shinobi world by healing whatever ailments the people that came to her had. But having one patient crashing after another was a little too much for one day. Not including the slew of ANBU that was hurt coming into her hospital just to disregard everything she suggested they should do. Well that was fine, if they wanted to drag themselves into an early grave, that was fine by her.
Normally, she wasn't in the mood to drink, but she had the day off tomorrow and she would do anything to wind down so to speak. There were a few bars in Konoha, but there was one she was particularly fond of that her normal group of people didn't go to, which was fine with her. She couldn't deal with Naruto or Sasuke bickering today.
Sakura entered the bar quietly with a sigh. She waved at the bartender then sat herself in her usual spot, ordering a bottle of the honey sake that Tsunade got her hooked on. Once the bartender brought the bottle over, she poured herself a drink and began to sip at it slowly.
She wasn't paying attention to anything around her, mostly because she felt safe. This might have been a place where her friends didn't go to, but she knew this was the ANBU hang out spot, so she knew nothing would happen to her. They knew who Sakura was and would protect her with their life. Though, while she was in her own head thinking about the day she had, the door to the bar opened and the person sat themselves beside her.
Sakura knew who the person was without them saying a word. She flagged down the bartender, asking for another glass for her new guest.
'"Bad day?" the figure asked, making Sakura answer with a "tch," under her breath.
"You're one to talk, it was your guys that made the day horrid," She muttered quietly, pouring Itachi some sake. He thanked her before taking a sip. Normally the sake was too sweet for him, but it was free so he didn't complain.
There was a silence between them before Sakura sighed.
"I'm one of the best healers in the nation, I surpassed Tsunade, and yet the elite shinobi of the village don't listen to me when I tell them what they should do. They listen to Tsunade-sama, but not me. Why is that?"
Itachi sat quietly for a moment to gather his thoughts.
"Mainly because you're untested."
The thought made Sakura ball a fist, placing it on the desk in front of her.
"That doesn't make any sense. I did more than those assholes during the war, I can summon a giant, healing slug– something neither of them can do by the way. I've done more than you and yet you're regarded as a war hero,"
Itachi listened to her carefully.
"Which is true, you've gone up the ranks quickly during the war. You also healed tens of thousands of people at one time, but you're still untested. Just because you did well during the war doesn't mean that said people trust you yet."
Sakura didn't like that answer. She growled under her breath, making Itachi turn to look at her.
"I think you're amazing. And my team listens to you. Is that not enough for now?"
"No," Sakura said quickly. At first it took Itachi for a loop but then he calmly began to chuckle.
"That's what people love about you. How you're so determined to prove yourself. It makes sense. Look at who you were teamed with. A jinjuriki, a Child prodigy and a man who is feared among nations. You had to claw your way to the top and most people don't know that, but they do know what you did during the war. Tell me, how many of the shinobi force asks for you?"
Sakura thought for a moment. She didn't want to answer only because she thought her frustration was valid.
"Heck, people come to you from other villages, thinking you're going to cure their children and family. The clans around here only trust you, and you've basically become the healer on retainer for the Uchiha clan. My parents hold you in high regard, my brother adores you and you're well respected. Just because a few people, who don't listen to any medic by the way, doesn't mean you're not good at what you do. You save people's lives, you help them, you make them feel better. Eventually that will just have to be enough." Itachi concluded.
Sakura sighed.
"You're right.. You're right… Maybe I'm still holding on to deep seeded insecurities, but it would still be nice for your ANBU friends to listen to me every once in a while.``
Itachi downed the rest of his drink, his face souring at how sweet the sake was. Sakura chuckled, flagging the bartender to ask for an order of dango.
"You're good at the pep talks. Have you thought about being a sensei?"
Itachi hummed to himself,
"No. I like being in charge of a team, doing the dangerous stuff so younger kids don't have to."
Sakura agreed, thinking he was better at that. She down the rest of her sake when the dango made its way to where they sat. Itachi stared at it from the corner of his eye. Sakura knew it was a guilty pleasure of his, so she scooted the plate toward him before getting up.
"Thank you. I decided not to get drunk tonight." Sakura chuckled, watching itachi eat the dango she had bought for him. Such a dangerous man loved the stuff, and she always liked the idea.
"Are you doing anything tonight?" She asked.
Itachi, mouth full, shook his head no.
She smiled at him, placing an extra key to her apartment in front of him.
"Come and visit sometime tonight… if you'd like to," She winked, turning to leave the bar.
Itachi watched as she left, picking up the extra key to hold it.
He knew all he had to do was lift her spirits up to get what he wanted.
Use your imagination at the end. Maybe they got together, maybe they just cuddled ;D
Thanks for reading, and Kudos are always nice!
