That night, Thomas had a dream.
It seemed like it was starting all over again.
Just 4 days after the incident with Nerraw. And he's dreaming of him again. It could be a vision. Or... could it just be his anxiety.
Thomas found himself somewhere strange. All around him, was a blue hue. It was very bright, and his eyes were having a hard time adjusting. Once he finally got used to the brightness, he looked around in his surroundings.
"What the..." he said to himself.
He looked down and saw that he was on metal. That gray metal plank that would be present on most train platforms, or at the end of an elevator. It was a platform.
There was a ledge in front of him, and deep below him, was an endless blue void.
"What the hell?" Thomas said. "Where am I?!" He looked around. There was a weird cloud in the distance, that was also blue. Sparks and electricity were flowing throughout it. It looked like a space cloud, something that he learned about in school. Thomas walked a little closer, then looked down.
At the ledge, there was a panel. He down at it, a little confusedly. He touched the side of it, but then something like a screen lit up the panel. Thomas gasped as it was a little sudden. "What the..." he tapped it, and the screen shifted.
"Touch... screen?" He asked himself. That type of tech wasn't that popular. He swiped his finger on it, but he saw something shift.
But, it wasn't what was on the panel-
It was the cloud.
"Did... I do something?" He asked himself. He reached over and swiped his finger on the screen again. He saw the cloud coming closer.
Thomas realized that he was making it navigate closer to him. So, he continued, but slowly.
The blue cloud came closer. But as it inched more up towards him, the hue of blue, was only on the left side. There was now a red hue on the right.
Thomas was shocked at something else he saw.
"Thomas The Tank Engine" in blue text, was on the lift side, and "Turning Red" in red text, was on the right side.
"W-What? W-What is this?" He asked.
But that wasn't all. Underneath "Thomas The Tank Engine" was little circles. And those circles were names. He looked closer and saw that it was the names of his new friends.
Duck, Oliver, James. And also the other kids in his new class, whom he had yet to meet. All of them were connected to one circle that read "Thomas". That was seated at the very end of the blue side.
"Cinders and ashes..." He said. "Wait a sec... all of my friends... They're connected to me with lines? Why?"
All of the friends he made, the circles that had each and everyone's names, connected with the one that read "Thomas". The other ones, such as Gordon, and Henry (the people he hasn't met too well) were not connected.
But there was one line, that was sparking. And it crossed over to the red side.
The line connected to "Thomas" and "Carter"
Thomas gasped. Carter's name was over on the red side, and so was Meilin, Miriam, Abby, Pyria, Tyler, and even a bunch of other names including the name of his old teacher.
All of those names were also crossing over to the blue side, connecting to Thomas's name.
Thomas blinked. "What is all this?!" He didn't understand. "This... no it can't be-,"
He started to remember what Mark told him about the dimension, and how his world was combined with another.
Was this it? Was he inside... the machine that made it possible?
Thomas looked around. He saw another panel, but it was on the left side.
He went over to it, to see if it did anything differently. He turned it on and swiped his finger on it.
The same thing, a cloud came closer.
There were circles with names. But they weren't connected to anything.
"Huh? Who... are these? Salty? Bertie? ... Annie and Clarabel? Who are they?" There were a lot more names, and Thomas couldn't recall any of them. He hasn't been on the Island that long, but if this room showed everyone who lived in the same dimension as him-
Those should be people who live here.
Thomas was about to touch the panel to see what else it could do, but then he heard sounds of electricity coming from the other panel, that was facing the wider front.
He left from the left panel, and back to what he believed was the main one. "It looks like there is something else-," he said. He scrolled up on the panel, and the cloud moved down. Reveling that there was something else.
What Thomas saw, made him now certain that this was what powers everything.
'Kingdom Hearts' He remembered Mark mentioned that. But-
It wasn't just Mark.
It was Nerraw himself.
Since the Fictional Dimension was opened using Kingdom Hearts, anything that came after, followed Kingdom Hearts; Hearts... Heartless... and Nobodies. All exist in these worlds. But it's not a big deal. I can use those logistics, to aid my plans
Thomas remembered what that dark being said that evening at the Valentine's dance. Thomas looked up. "This... is where It happens? But how will I know I'm just dreaming this?"
Thomas looked to the left of him. He had an idea.
He walked over to the left panel.
"Salty? So... I'm guessing this person didn't get added-,"
Thomas touched the screen. He somehow connected Salty to the main cloud.
But doing so, the place started to vibrate. "O-Oh no!" Thomas gasped, and he grabbed onto the railing. He saw that the cloud had more sparks of electricity stoking through it than before. He ended up having second thoughts about what he did, then wanted to change what he had done, but it was too late.
Thomas jumped awake in his bed. He looked around the room, his heart was slightly pounding. He placed his hand on his chest and took deep breaths. "Cinders... and ashes..." He said, then flopped back down on the bed. "What was that? That... did I dream that or was I really there? No... that couldn't have happened-,"
Thomas said. Thomas realized he needed a drink of water after that. He went to get up, but then there was a loud shock throughout the air, and the entire room had a blast of electricity shock through it.
"OH, SHIT!?" Thomas was petrified at what just happened. Thomas thought he had died. "Wait I'm alive?!" He yelled. Then he could hear chatter outside. Still, a little shaken up at what happened, he walked over to the door and looked outside.
He could see some students were out there rooms, talking amongst each other.
"What was that?" Said one of the students to Oliver. "I don't know," Oliver responded.
Thomas was very confused.
"Do you think something went wrong with Edward's magic? You know, the magic that is supposed to keep the Island invisible to people?" Duck asked.
Thomas walked over to them.
"Thomas!" Oliver said.
"Damn, you look shaken up!" Duck said. "Don't worry! I think it was just the magic backfiring a little bit," He said.
"Very strange though. That never had happened before," James said, who had come out of his room, and overheard them.
"Morning James," Duck said.
"Morning? it's still dark out," James grunted. "I was in the middle of my damn beauty sleep,"
But if there was anyone who looked tired, it was Thomas.
And Duck noticed. "Oh dear Thomas, you look exhausted. You should go and catch up on another hour of sleep before we get ready for school, I'll wake you when it's time," Duck said.
Thomas only just nodded.
Then Oliver spoke up. "Wait, you can't!"
"Huh? Why?" Duck asked.
"Didn't Edward say he wanted you and Gordon to help take some things to Brendam for Salty?" Oliver asked.
"Oh, right! I nearly forgot," Duck turned his attention to Thomas. "Sorry Thomas, change of plans. Oliver will wake you,"
Oliver smiled at him
Thomas just blinked at Duck.
"...S-Salty?" He asked.
Duck nodded. "Yeah. Didn't we introduce you to him?"
Thomas looked around confused. "...What? I thought Diesel was the only diesel?"
"No, there's two. Him and Salty, where have you been?"
Thomas just blinked at him.
"...Excuse me for a moment-," Thomas said as he swiftly entered into his room.
Once he entered the room, he shut the door back, then slouched down to the ground. "What the hell did I do-?!" He said to himself. "Why did I do that-?"
"Geez, I'm in no mood for school tomm-"
But then he thought of that. "Wait... Did Duck say school? Wasn't yesterday Saturday?!"
He stood up, then yanked the door open.
Oliver and Duck were still outside and saw Thomas swing the door open like a mad man.
"GUYS WHAT DAY IS IT?!" He yelled.
Duck looked over at Oliver, then looked over at Thomas concernedly. "Uhhh... it's Monday?"
Thomas slightly gasped.
But, Oliver and Duck heard it. "T-Thomas, what's wrong?"
"N-Nothing!" Thomas said and went back to his room.
He shut the door.
Thomas looked around the room. "What the hell...?"
He felt tired. He needed to sleep.
But he wanted to check on Carter.
He went on his laptop.
It powered on, but he couldn't find Carter's email anywhere. "Ugh, I'm just tried... I'll check on him later,"
"Ok... I'll tackle all of this after another nap..." He felt really exhausted. More than usual. He climbed into his bed, but as soon as he hit the pillow, he fell asleep.
Thomas awoke.
He gasped. He was in the same place. "The hell?"
But then he realized that he could fix what he had done.
He found himself at the terminal and did what he did before. He made the cloud come closer. "Come on! Get over here already!"
Once it did, he scanned the names.
Until he found Salty.
"I'm sorry Salty, but it seems like you nearly broke everything,"
He took out Salty's name and put it back on the other cloud. But once that happened, he awoke.
This time, it was morning. "Cinders and ashes... what a fucking mess-,"
The sun was rising now. But once he started to get out of bed, an electric current came blasting through the dorm once again. At first, Thomas got startled again. But then, he thought. "Wait... does that mean I fixed it?!"
He could hear chatter outside. Nearly the same thing was happening.
"What was that?" Thomas heard Oliver say. "The magic probably? I don't know,"
Thomas quickly ran over to the door and threw it open. "DUCK DO YOU HAVE TO DELIVER ANYTHING TOO SALTY?!" Thomas yelled.
Everyone in the hallway stopped what they were doing, and looked Thomas's way.
"Thomas? ...What? Are you okay?" Duck asked tilting his head in confusion. Oliver started to giggle.
"Have you gone mad?" James asked.
"There is no Salty here, at least not that I know of?" Duck said.
"Oh thank goodness!" Thomas said, running over to Duck hugging him. Duck arched his eyebrow and looked at Oliver who shrugged.
