"As you lot have probably guessed from my statements and from what Kendall here has read, but this isn't the first time Furio has attacked Earth in this timeline," Nathan spoke as he looked to the group, now standing in front of the holographic screen. On it, there were several documents which were up, some coming from Zandar's personal history thanks to Prince Philip, which Nathan was still processing the fact that he was another ranger. "The remnants of Scorpius' forces had searched for me after he was sealed three thousand years ago, and Furio eventually tracked me down to Earth eight hundred years ago. It was actually during the third encounter that they ended up in Zandar and I met with Ivan."
"A first interaction that isn't recorded in the legends," Philip confirmed from the screen, looking over something from the other end of his side. "The only things we actually have confirming it are some royal documents from the period, stating on Sir Nathan being knighted by the king."
"Something Ivan was adamant on having me do, but it also cemented Zandar as being the focal point for Furio's attacks," Nathan confirmed with a nod, soon waving his hand towards the screen before he passed through it, making him take a few steps in surprise before he stopped, shaking his head with a sigh. "Right, hologram, gotta get used to that…" Looking back to the group, he coughed a bit before continuing. "More importantly, thanks to those fights we got allies in what would later be known as the Azure and Scarlet knights, and with their aid we managed to send Furio off during the Battle of Steel and Fang before I took the book here to be sealed away."
"The Azure and Scarlet knights," this time it was Riley talking, looking at one picture which showed the four animal symbols for Ivan's order of knights. "Eric had told me of how there were two families with the symbols of a phoenix and rhino. Are those two the same ones as Randalph and Marianne in Ivan's order?"
"…It figures Eric would think of that connection easily enough, especially given how history turned out for those two," Nathan spoke with a chuckle, shaking his head. Then he simply nodded, looking to the symbol. "Indeed, Randalph was the Scarlet Knight while Marianne was the Azure, though I think the source of their abilities would surprise you."
"Why's that," Tyler asked, making Kendall go to the computer and pull something else out.
"As you know, the Galaxy Rangers told us of their own experience with Scorpius and his minions," Kendall spoke as she pulled up a few images, most notably of two Zords that were red and blue respectively. "In their universe, there were three Lost Galactabeasts that were all but destroyed during a battle three thousand years ago before being repurposed into Zords by an alien called Deviot. These were the Phoenix, Rhino, and Shark Galactabeasts."
"The opposite is true for our universe, or at least for our timeline," Nathan responded as he nodded to the screen. "The five Galactabeasts used by those rangers were the ones that were severely injured during the battle three thousand years ago, while the remaining three Galactabeasts had managed to get out of the conflict mostly unscathed, and they even ended up focusing their power in the fight against Lord Arcanon on another side of the galaxy during our timeline. With no Arcanon, however, they ended up traveling the galaxy looking to help as they could, as well as searching for those who could channel their power. They found Randalph and Marianne worthy of their power, and granted them weapons to use in the fight against Furio."
"I had heard that the Galactabeasts held that kind of ability," Keeper spoke, making Nathan look to him confused. "They even enlisted the help of one of the Morphin Masters, Orion, to create weapons for this purpose. It's how the Quasar Sabers were made."
"That's the first I'm hearing of it, but that does explain how those weapons they gave even existed," Nathan responded with a nod, closing his eyes as he thought it over. "Orion, huh? I bet the Lights were probably made by him as well, given how they act…"
"More importantly, what you're saying is that Randalph and Marianne became Rangers," Tyler asked, making Nathan open his eyes and look at him.
"In a sense, though their gear was more similar to armor than that spandex look you guys have," Nathan spoke as he looked past them to a sword lying on the wall. "However, the fact remains that they were chosen by the Galactabeasts, and in the process helped with the fight against Furio. If it wasn't for Randalph's sacrifice in particular, we could very well not even have a planet to live on."
"You mean the tale Eric told me about 'Courage in Scarlet'," Tyler spoke, making Nathan look at him confused. "He said that the knight sacrifices himself in it."
"I don't remember anyone writing that tale, but he did indeed sacrifice himself during the final moments of the Battle of Steel and Fang," Nathan responded, soon shaking his head. "Regardless, thanks to him we were able to drive Furio back that time, but afterwards I decided to seal the Galaxy book in a place that no one could enter easily, and placed it to only be opened with a key."
"Which leaves the matter of the key," Kendall responded, making Nathan nod as he grabbed the chair by the computer and sat own. "You know where it is, right?"
"If you asked me that a year after I made the seal, I would say it was in a safe area in Zandar," Nathan responded with a nod, before sighing as he looked over the screen. "However, I decided that it'd be best for me and no one else to know of its location, so I broke the key into three parts and had the families descended from the Scarlet and Azure Knights take them across the world into different locations, never to really be located again. Given how much has happened in the last sixty years, however, I doubt they'll know anything on their location…"
"Then if Furio manages to figure out how to make the scanner then we'll be at a disadvantage, won't we," James asked, making Nathan shake his head as he pointed towards a picture of the gate.
"Fortunately, that's not something to worry too much over thanks to the writing here," Nathan responded. "One thing which I made sure was kept consistent was that they used the same writing as the door, albeit in areas close rather than on it. We also have the benefit in the fact that Furio doesn't know he needs three parts to open the lock, and that we only need one while he needs all three. With how you can notice his arrivals and given that he'll have figured it out by this point, we can assume he won't spread his group too thin when we can get in his way in either form."
"And what if he comes down himself again," Shelby asked, making Nathan look to her. "You didn't exactly hold your own against him last time."
"True, but next time I'll have you guys helping me out if we see him again," Nathan responded as he tapped the desk, his voice more aggravated than not. "Ivan told me how I needed to focus more on working together when we fought together, and now that fact hasn't bit in more than when I was getting knocked around by Furio. It does make me miss Randalph, though, he could probably match his current strength if he was still around."
"If that's the case, then why not use the Energems to stop Furio in the past like we did Sledge," came Prince Philip, making the group look to him through the screen. "Their power isn't being suppressed like it was in our timeline, so we could be able to go back again. We could also go back to when Scorpius was attacking Magnus"
"I would recommend against that," Nathan responded as he shook his head, making them look at him. "As much as I am okay with you guys helping out now, that's not the same with me eight hundred years ago, I mean I dueled Ivan until we couldn't move anymore before I ended up keeping to our friendship. That's not even considering how I would be feeling back on Magnus when I could give the Magna Defender a run with my anger."
"There is also too much which occured for Magnus itself," Keeper responded with a nod, soon waving his staff before a black space appeared in itself. "The power which fuels the Galaxy Book doesn't coincide well with the Energems ability to travel through time, so any attempt to go to that point or around it would be impossible without severe repercussions."
"To add to that, Furio isn't the strongest of Scorpius' generals that escaped the sealing," Nathan spoke, shaking his head. "That title stays with Treacheron, and the last thing we need is for him to come to Earth instead. If we stop Furio in the past, then Treacheron will just pick up the slack."
"You mean the general the Galaxy Rangers fought after Furio, right," Kendall asked, making Nathan nod. "He was considered a rival of the Magna Defender for them. From what I read, he was defeated by the Red Ranger while using the Lights of Orion."
"And I would expect as much if he was the same as in our timeline, I watched the Magna Defender barely manage to beat him in a final duel," Nathan sighed before shaking his head. "However, given Treacheron's loyalty to Scorpius and how far he is willing to go to prove it, there's no telling how much more powerful he would've become in the last few centuries if Furio is this strong now."
"Which is why it's better to deal with the situation in the present rather than the past," Keeper agreed as Nathan nodded, picking himself up. "Do you know of any locations that could hold writing directing to the key fragments?"
"Not all of them, but that could be fixed with any searches on the internet for the markings in the doorway," Nathan spoke as he closed his eyes, thinking. "However, I do know that one of them is still in Zandar. It was found by an archeologist a few decades back and should still be in the royal vault thanks to the royal family of the time."
"I'll see if I can find it over here," Philip responded as Nathan looked over to him with a nod at the screen. "Do you know what area it could be in, or what it looks like?"
"It should be diamond shaped but in a way that could mix together into a helix," Nathan responded as he closed his eyes. "There was a part of the vault that I had helped build during King Colin's time which used equipment similar to what Magnus uses to keep the Lights of Orion safe. It would probably be there if they kept the knowledge about it, though I'm guessing you don't know what the entrance would look like since it usually is only learned after the coronation ceremony."
"That's correct, not including the fact that it's probably a new addition which wasn't there in the previous time," Philip responded, making Nathan chuckle as he shook his head.
"Well, nothing that can't easily be fixed since I need to head there anyway," Nathan responded. "Given the defenses of that spot, and if Zandar's military hasn't gotten slack since I was last over there a century ago, it should be the safest one out of the three. It's also the only place with a key that is only in the hands of Zandar's king, as well as myself thanks to a bit of leeway from Ivan."
"You also have a key," Philip asked, making Nathan nod. "Then I may ask you to come here and check for yourself on the matter, if that's alright."
"Of course, but fortunately for us it isn't going anywhere yet," Nathan responded before he pushed himself up, looking to Kendall. "In the meantime, can I trust you lot to look for anything akin to the text on the seal?"
"Sure," Kendall responded before Nathan pushed himself off the desk, starting a walk to the main doors. "Where are you going?"
"Back home to organize some things," Nathan responded as he looked to them. "I'll need to take a momentary look in the area around, but more importantly I need to get you guys something that will help Ivan later."
"And what's that," Shelby asked, making Nathen look to the group as he stopped just past them.
"I need to find out what days you lot can go see Ivan, given how little you lot obviously visited him till now," Nathan responded as he looked at them with a smile. "I kept a diary of my time in Zandar for when I want to remember those days, so I can give you guys some good days to go while I wasn't there. Given some dates, I think you can at least make it to a few holidays without me ever noticing you, but you'll definitely need to make it to some of the birthdays for the kids."
"We'll keep that in mind," Kendall responded before Nathan nodded, soon starting to walk again before he stopped.
"Oh right," Nathan spoke as he just thought of something, looking over to the group. "You lot will need a way to communicate to me, won't you?"
-Ivan, Eight hundred years ago-
"Ivan, look out," came Nathan's shout as the sounds of battle rang through the tunnels, followed by a flash of sparks as a Stingwinger fell behind Ivan as the man ducked under another's swipe, slashing upward into it to knock it back as Nathan jumped over the one he had cut down. The two had gone under a good debate over which person would end up leading the path into the tunnels before the two had decided they would both go, and now had ended up in the middle of a fight after the knights had followed their trail into the area. "We got lucky this time around, there doesn't seem to be a leader in this tunnel."
"That is indeed good news," Ivan spoke as he blocked another creature, Nathan stabbing his blade into it as they looked over the area. The two had ended up on their own after the fighting began, being the rear guard for the knights as they were taking the villagers out from their cells and work places, and now they were alone with the bodies of the creatures all around them. "What of the villagers?"
"From the look of things when I ran ahead, your knights got the last one just a few minutes ago," Nathan responded as he sheathed his sword, the green gem on the guard shining in the torchlight as he looked over the area. Then with a chuckle he looked back to Ivan. "I will say though, I wish I could see how Furio reacts to what's happened here."
"Furio," Ivan asked, making Nathan sigh as he shook his head. "You know the name of the enemy who commands these things?"
"I told you that they were a foe I intended to fight," Nathen spoke with a chuckle, looking over to Ivan. "To be more precise, however, it's a foe I've fought for quite some time, though the tale isn't really one you could end up believing."
"You would be surprised," Ivan spoke as the two began walking out from the tunnel system they had been defending, keeping their ears open for any other sounds. "I've faced creatures which have come from the stars, so I doubt it would be as surprising."
"Now that I didn't expect, especially with such a serious tone," Nathan responded as he looked to Ivan surprised. Then, shaking his head he turned back to the end of the tunnels, continuing to walk. "If what you claim is true, then you can say that Furio is the same in that regard. We should count ourselves lucky that it doesn't seem like he has a functioning point of command yet, though."
"But that doesn't mean this will be the only time he'll try something like this," Ivan noted, making Nathan nod as the two soon saw a light along the tunnel path. "You fought well today, as well. You could be a good knight with the skills and bravery you've shown, if you would join us in Zandar."
"I'll decline sadly, it'll be more trouble for everyone if I'm tied to one place instead of constantly traveling," Nathan answered, holding his hand up towards the oncoming light as he was trying to adjust to it's brightness. "To add to that, Furio probably sent his minions there in order to draw me out, so it'll only cause more instances like this if I stay in the kingdom."
"Regardless, I must insist on at least coming with us to the King," Ivan spoke, the two making it out of the cavern as they saw the knights taking care of the villagers they had, several more going back in past them with torches and paint to find more people in the tunnels. "If it wasn't for your warning about the village when we were on the path, or your help in this assault, then things could've ended up much worse."
"…I guess I can accept that," Nathan responded with a sigh, then looking up at the sky as he was thinking of something. "I wonder how my older brother would react if he saw me like this now…"
"You have a brother," Ivan asked, making Nathan look at him sorrowfully.
"Had, him and my parents died when I was younger," Nathan spoke, soon reaching up and touching his hair as he closed his eyes. Then with a sudden tone change, he let go of his hair and looked back to Ivan with a smile. "However, the day is still too young for such sad tales, and we still have a village to clear of the remaining monsters. We can discuss the matters of the lost later, for now we need to push on and focus on the present."
Ivan just looked at Nathan as the man turned away from him, soon walking off to where some of the villagers were as he started saying something to them. 'He still seems burdened by the pain,' Ivan thought, noticing the fact that Nathan was moving a bit stiffer despite his statement. 'Still though, he's a stalwart warrior to want to help despite how he feels at the moment.'
"Ivan, are you coming," Nathan shouted, making Ivan snap out of his thoughts as Nathan waved over at him. "We don't have long until sunset, so it's the perfect time to catch them by surprise if we start heading out now!"
"I'll be right there," Ivan responded, noting how he saw Nathan scarcely showing the hints of the emotions he had been feeling before, his mind trailing back to when he was freed from being within Fury.
-Present time, Furio, the dark side of the Moon-
"What's taking that insect so long," Furio muttered, pacing in the area as a lone set of red flames illuminated the darkness. As he turned to walk again, his gaze soon noted a monster walking by the farthest flame. "Horn, you're late."
"Awe cut me some slack Furio, you gave me the call while I was halfway across the galaxy," the monster replied, it's figure now becoming more clear as he looked at Furio. The monster itself had a yellow hue to it, looking more like a humanoid Weevil than anything else. "So what's had you call me after all these centuries? Didn't we have an agreement that I could keep whatever weapons were taken eight hundred years ago?"
"The deal is still in place since neither of those knights have popped up again, what I want is a different matter," Furio spoke as he walked up to Horn, the Earth soon starting to peak over the surface behind him. "I want you to cause a commotion to draw out the Magna Defender and some Rangers who have been popping up. They have weapons I'm sure you'll like to add to your collection, so you can keep those as a bonus to the usual pay."
"Of course," Horn responded in excitement, soon pulling open his cloak to reveal a bow that shined sky blue in the firelight, laughing as he pulled it out and looked at it. "I've been hoping to add more than just this old bow to my collection. When and where do you want me to strike?"
"The goal is to have the plan dealt within a week from now, that way it can align with another plan I need to carry out," Furio responded as he rested his sword onto his shoulder. "The location I want you to cause a distraction in is a dinosaur zoo on the planet. There's also a device that's there which I've been unable to obtain, but while it's secondary to this mission I'll give you a bonus if you can find it and steal it."
"Consider it done," Horn responded as he put the bow back into his cloak. "It's a shame I can't complete the set that goes with this bow during this job, though. Have you still not found that axe that red knight was using?"
"Their weapons are pointless now, especially since none of their family has survived," Furio responded as he turned to a hill, where he knew the Stingwinger was sitting at for the moment. "I'll send you a message with the full details of the plan and half the pay later, for now prepare for what's to come."
"Of course Furio," Horn responded with a bow, and in a flash of red lightning Furio was gone.
