Why does it fall that hard?
Jack rubbed his head in frustration.
He's exhausted, but thanks to Sandy, he managed to get a few minutes of rest.
When he came to, he thanked Sandy and went to look at a blizzard that'd been overdue. His last job
Jack hates to admit that his control is much easier now.
Stupid brain, just stop thinking.
Jack clicked his tongue. He should really stop the blizzard now. He just needs to concentrate. To focus.
It would've been harder three months ago.
Jack willed the blizzard away after a few moments.
Surveying the area in search of any living thing that needed his help, Jack breathed a sigh of relief when he confirmed that no one was hurt.
Jack stared at the ground, berating himself.
What the heck did I mean by that? Jack wanted to scream.
I've got a present for you.Jack blinked.
Jasper has been quiet the whole day. Jack was wondering whether the summer spirit was able to turn the mind thing off on his side by now. Jack was just getting used to it, too.
The moment he saw Jasper, most of his negative thoughts were muted. It was replaced by Jasper's thoughts, and it was a big relief to Jack.
Great, I'm ungrateful and now a burden.
Nope. I'm so happy to be able to talk to you, bro.
Jack felt his face warm up. Geez how do you control this? Absentmindedly, Jack wondered if Jasper had heard him earlier..
He can hear a chuckle on the other side. Jack can't help but rubbed his face in shame. He flew to the ground, taking a break.
His job is done for the day. Well, he's been at it for 46 hours straight with a 5 to 15 minute break. His next big job won't be on another 8 hours. It was almost like this before he even met the Old Man. It took him a lot of time getting used to calming down storms before.
It's great that seasonal don't need to eat or sleep, huh?
Jasper grimaced. He's been focusing on not dropping Bunny to the ground. With Bunny's screams and flailing, Jasper just wanted to throw Bunny to the pacific ocean and let it all be over.
Wouldn't that be nice?
Jasper sighed. "Please tone it down, sir Bunny"
Bunny didn't even took a break and just keeps screaming at the top of his lungs.
I really hope you like my gift, Jack.
Sorry I didn't get you one...
Jasper just chuckled. Well you don't need to. I don't want this one, so think of it as me dropping something I don't want to you.
"I hope you see this, Jack"
Jasper looked ahead. It's only thirty minutes away. He didn't kidnap Bunny just to annoy the rabbit or just mess with Jack. He wanted to know if Jack can see the immortal.
After all, if Jack can't see the guardian of Hope, then Jasper needs to change tactics.
He needs to have Jack hope first. The rest will follow. After that, everything would be fine.
His brother was lost. Out of all the wonder, dreams and memories, Hope was the only thing Jack couldn't let go off.
Jasper was proud of his brother because of that. So the moment Jack lost that, too. Jasper knew he needed to intervene. It was such a surprise, too.
Jasper has always been with Jack. Well except when he's working obviously but he always went home to Jack.
Jack has never seen him. And Jasper was fine with that. He could hear Jack when Jack was talking to himself or just thinking.
Jasper went ahead to Jack's home / their home formulating a plan on how to fix their problem.
Jasper knew Old Man's death would shatter Jack. After all, Jasper was shattered too. When his own old man kicked the bucket. He didn't even know about the rule. The old man just told him the day he's gone.
Jasper was a little envy of Jack regarding that. He didn't even get to properly say goodbye to his old man.
Imagine his surprise when Jack looked at him.
Looked at him and not through him.
He was overjoyed.
But then a moment of shame and guilt filled him. Jasper was used to help him. Without anyone knowing. Not even Jack. It's much more easy that way.
Jasper shook his head. Now's not the time, he needs to know how he can help Jack.
"Hey, Jack. Catch!" Jasper dropped the rabbit on top of an unsuspecting Jack.
Jack, with all the years of experience, managed to dodge the incoming object.
Jack looked at Bunny confused.
"Uhmm." Jack slowly moved closer to Bunny, poking him with his staff.
Is he alive?
Jack heard a soft sigh next to him.
"He's alive, don't worry" Jasper put his arms around Jack's shoulder.
"I hope you liked my gift" Jasper whispered to Jack's ear.
Jack's face turned red and dropped his staff to the ground, clenching his ear. "You!" heard?
Jasper beamed. Of course, baby brother. Don't worry. I think I know how to control this now.
Jack couldn't look at his eyes. It's so embarrassing. Jack had been thinking of the guardians, well mostly Bunny and he was so exhausted and forgot that Jasper might have been listening to him.
After all, I don't want to hear you two go at it.
Jack gaped. "Jasper! What the heck?!" Jasper grinned and ruffled Jack's hair.
"I'm just teasing you. I'm not gonna let him touch you for what?" Jasper paused, his lips forming a smirk. "at least a decade, kid"
Bunny groaned, still looking pale and on the ground. "You're a freak, you know that?" He said trying hard to look at Jasper. His world is still spinning.
"Unfortunately for you, I'm Jack's brother" Jasper replied, grabbing a hold of Jack's shoulders.
"Thanks for walking me home. You can beat it now, Bunny" Jasper stuck his tongue out at the rabbit.
"Eh?" Bunny, in no shape to argue can only squeeze his eyes shut.
Jasper was already pulling Jack to move. Jack, concerned, conjured a block of ice. "Here Bunny, this might help" Jack put it on Bunny's hand.
"Thanks, snowflake"
Jack couldn't help but blush.
"Now, now" Jasper shushed. "I think I'm seeing a bunch of kids running this way. What would they think if they see a full grown kangaroo passed out in the middle of nowhere?"
And with that, Bunny groaned and hurriedly opened a hole and slided in.
Jack looked at the direction Jasper was looking at.
"I'm not seeing anyone...?"
Jasper giggled. "It's my revenge. He busted my ears on the way here."
Jack looked at him, confusion on his face.
"I flew him here"
Jack's jaw dropped.
