A soft fluff between Shadow and an old OC of mine.

This was from Sonic X Season 3. This was the time and day when Molly died when trying protecting her planet from the Metarex.

In a dead planet, the humans there were losing hope against the Metarex. A lone fighter jets zoomed towards where a group of soldiers were standing, losing hope.

"Please, stop!"

Molly was flying towards the soldiers, who have given up, in her fighter jet. She looked serious.

"Don't tell me that you really want to join the Metarex and abandon our planet to them!" She blinked in disbelief to her people. "What have you done to restore our planet to the way it once was?"

"Shut up, that's enough!" One of the younger soldiers shouted, surprising and shocking Molly.

"I'm tired of living like this on this planet in ruins." Another soldier said sadly.

"And I'm tired of fighting." Another added. "If the Metarex accepts our alliance, we will survive."

"We don't have the same strength that you have." The soldier earlier, the one in charge, continued. "Just go away. We don't want to die! We refuse to die for our planet!"

Molly gasped at this as tears fell from her eyes. Could they be really giving up after what they have been through?

Suddenly, at that moment, Shadow jumped on to the wing of Molly's fighter jet, catching her attention.

"Leave them, it's better." He told her.

"Shadow..." She whimpered softly to him as tears continue to fall from her eyes.

"You gave yourself a mission." He continued. "And you have to complete it."

It was at that moment that the white Chaos Emerald that Shadow was holding in his hand began to glow brightly and the ebony Hedgehog jumped off the wing of the fighter jet. Shadow shot himself forward to the attacking Metarex ships and flew through one of the ships, blowing it to pieces.

At the same time, Molly had turned her fighter jet around, fleeing the scene for safety but the words of the soldiers haunt her mind but she refused to leave her planet die at the hands of the enemies. At that, a boom resonated causing everyone to turn back and saw Molly flying her key back into the battle, screaming in battle rage towards one of the ships.

"Molly!" Midnight shouted when she saw what was going on as dread welled up in her heart causing Shadow to turn around and gasped in shock and horror.

The sound of laser bullets made everyone to watch hopelessly as Molly fought against the main Metarex ship. The laser bullets of the fighter jet only did little damage to the ship, and in response, the Metarex ship charged up its own lasers and open fired at Molly. Shadow moved in quickly to try and save her but it was too late. Molly then looked up at Shadow and gave him a sad yet happy smile which made his eyes widen in shock and horror when a memory of the same smile flashed through his mind as tears fell from Molly's eyes as a sign of goodbye just as Molly's fighter jet exploded, taking her life with it.

"MOLLY!" Midnight cried out in despair and sorrow as the soldiers could only watch in shock, horror and sadness.

The blast and explosion caused Shadow to crash towards the ground. He was in a kneeling position with his eyes shut tight in anger and rage as the sight of Molly's face before she died flashed though his mind and it only fueled his anger towards the enemies. He then opened his eyes and stood up before removing the rings on his wrists. He then jumped up and flew towards the Metarex ship with a raging and blazing fire of anger, hatred, determination and rage burning in his ruby eyes. The enemy ship fired their laser again but it proved to be useless as Shadow destroyed it in one go. Midnight could only watch this before looking down to the ground and let her tears fall from her eyes and gave a silent prayer and goodbye to Molly.

The planet was in ruins but the battle had been one. Not a sight of a Metarex ship in the sky. Shadow and Midnight both stood before a large stone, in obvious memory of the brave Molly, who sacrificed herself to her planet.

"Shadow?" Midnight questioned the dark hedgie. "Do you think that Molly... Reminded you of someone?"

"Reminded me of someone?" Shadow frowned to his friend.

"Yes." Midnight nodded. "It's okay if she didn't."

"She didn't belong to the past." Shadow said. "She continued to look towards the future."

Shadow then began to walk away, tossing the white Chaos Emerald to the midnight blue-red hedgehog.

"What?" Midnight questioned in confusion as she caught the gem.

"Give that to the doctor." Shadow ordered her as he continued to walk away.

Midnight just watched Shadow walk away as she knew that he needs to be alone after what happened.

After a day or two later, the ship of Eggman was flying through space in silence towards their next destination. Midnight was at the control room at the front railing, gazing at the stars before thinking back sadly to when Molly died. It just reminded her of that day too much. Her ears twitched when footsteps approached her. She turned her head slightly and saw that Eggman was walking towards her as she can clearly sense the concern from him.

"Something bothering you, Midnight? You haven't been yourself after what happened three days ago." Eggman questioned her as Bocoe, Decoe and Bokkun looked at each other since Eggman rarely talked to her.

Midnight just looked at him sadly as a lone tear fell from her eye which didn't go unnoticed by Eggman.

"I just wished that I could've prevented Molly's death since Shadow became close to her in a short amount of time." Midnight said sadly as she looked down towards the ground.

Shadow was just walking towards the control room but stopped just beside the entrance and listened to what was being said and was surprised when he heard that Midnight wanted to prevent Molly's death and he can sense sadness in her voice.

"Poor Shadow... H-He already lost someone in the past and he lost Molly." Midnight couldn't stop her tears from falling from her eyes as she sniffed and tried to wipe them away.

Eggman and his three robots were saddened when they saw Midnight break down like this and wanted to comfort her. Shadow was surprised and touched by this and wanted nothing than to go in and comfort her.

"I can relate to him about losing someone. I already lost my and my brother's father when I was still five and when Sonic was still an infant. He made me promise to always protect the ones that I love but I failed. First I failed protecting our father t-then M-Molly..." Midnight trailed off as she looked down towards the floor.

Eggman, who treated Midnight and Sonic like his own children, put a hand on her head and stroked it gently making her to look up at him sadly with tears falling from her eyes.

"It wasn't your fault. You should probably go to your room to rest for a while. Your stressing yourself out."

Midnight just nodded slowly as she started to walk back towards her quarters for some rest. Shadow hid in the darkness and watch her sadly as she walk away. Eggman, Bocoe, Decoe and Bokkun just watch her walk away with sympathy and pity before the three robots turned to their creator.

"Doctor, is it true that she lost her and Sonic's father when they were younger?" Bokkun asked sadly.

"Yes. She was really devastated when their father was killed right in front of her. She sought to destroy the ones who killed their father. I quickly took her and her family in and it made me stop on my empire to battle with Sonic and his friends. I always let Midnight hang out with them even Metal Sonic since she saw me as a father. I just hope she can recover from the incident soon." Eggman explained.

Shadow heard enough before walking away towards a certain quarters for some answers.

Midnight was just laying down on the bed while holding a picture in her hands as she looked at it. It was an old picture of her family when Sonic was still a baby before her father died. She sat up and put the photo back in the album just as a knock came from the door.

"Who is it?" Midnight asked as she got off the bed and walked towards the door.

"It's me." Midnight went over to the door and opened it to reveal that Shadow standing by the door.

"Hey, Shadow. Is there something you need?" Midnight asked.

"Can we talk?" Shadow asked.

Midnight just stepped to the side and let Shadow in as he walk in. Midnight just turned the lights on while leaving the door slightly open before walking back towards her bed and sitting on it.

"I overheard your conversation with the doctor. Is it true that you lost your father just like when I lost Maria?" Shadow went straight to the point and Midnight just nodded sadly, telling him that it was really true.

"Why didn't you tell me, Midnight? Sonic told me that you both lost someone in the past." This made Midnight to perk up and look at him in surprise.

Shadow just looked at her, wondering why she had gotten so quiet. Was it something that he said? Probably not.

"You... never said our names before. Only my middle name and calling Sonic Faker." Midnight told him softly as a faint blush decorated her cheeks.

"Tell me, why did you thought that you failed your promise to your father?" Shadow asked, trying to stop the blush that threatened to make its appearance to his face.

Midnight just sighed at that.

"I failed to protect them that's the proof that I failed my promise." Midnight told him as she didn't make eye contact with him as tears were welling up in her eyes.

She then felt an extra weight on her bed and she glanced to her side and saw that Shadow was sitting by her side on the bed in a comfortable distance since they created a special bond between them that was starting to become something new. It was a peaceful silent between them before Midnight felt a hand on her head before she was leaning against a broad shoulders with her head resting on it. She looked up slightly and saw that it was Shadow.

"Don't worry about it too much. We'll get through this... together." Shadow told her with a small blush on his cheeks before stroking her quills in a comforting way to comfort her which worked as she leaned against him more causing them to blush faintly at their position.

"Thanks for comforting me, Shadow." Midnight told him as she snuggled against him making Shadow to let out a chuckle with a smile and nuzzle the top of her head before planting a small kiss on it.

"Your welcome."

"You know, you should smile and laugh more often. It really suits you and will probably surprise everyone back on the Blue Typhoon even my brother." Midnight told him as she looked at him before smiling warmly which he returned as they let out chuckles and giggles as Shadow returned the smile.

"I'll keep that in mind."

Eggman was walking down the halls before stopping by the room that Midnight would always sleep in and noticed that the door was slightly open. He went towards it and looked inside but was surprised to see the sight in front of him. It was Shadow and Midnight, both leaning against each other and were snuggling against each other with their eyes closed and both had a peaceful smiles on their faces. Eggman couldn't help but smile at the sight and quickly took a picture of the two and went back to the control room to send it to the Blue Typhoon.

A beep was heard in the main room of the giant ship making everyone to look at the giant screen in front of them and saw an incoming message from Eggman which surprised them a little.

"What does Eggman want this time?" Chris, an 18 year old turned 12, asked.

"I don't know but he rarely sends us any messages since we were in good terms with him in the past. This must be new." Tails said as he eyed the message a little curious.

Cream saw that it must be an important message before clicking it open much to Knuckles' protests before they all gawked at they are seeing after the message was opened. Amy, Rouge, Cosmo and Cream couldn't help but let out 'Aww' at the picture. Sonic was just staring at the picture on the screen in surprise, happiness, slight awe and amusement since he knew that once the two find out about the picture, Eggman might be in the hospital for a week. Knuckles was gaping in shock like a fish out of water as he stared at the screen as Tails and Chris couldn't help but giggled at the sight.

The picture was the same picture that Eggman took and it shown both Midnight and Shadow, happily smiling as they snuggled against each other.

Let's just say that after saving the universe and defeating the Metarex, both Shadow and Midnight found out and both were blushing a bright tomato red before they both gave Eggman a week at the hospital just like when Sonic guessed much to everyone in Station Square's surprise, amazement and amusement and they got a laugh from it at the end.
