Lancelot is feeling down about something but Shadow knows what to make his eldest son feel better.

It was a beautiful day in Mobius and in the castle of the planet, a lone figure was walking in the halls. This was none other than Shadow the Hedgehog or King Shadow. Shadow was once a Prince of the Kingdom but after meeting and falling in love with his wife, who was a Merhog Princess, the two Kingdoms of the Land and Sea became alliances. He came upon the room of his sons and opened the door and was a little confused to see his eldest son, Lancelot, by the mirror-desk and he seemed to be sulking. Getting a little concerned and worried, he approached the dark brown and red little prince.

"What's the matter, son?" Shadow asked as he went to his son's side and put a hand on his small shoulder.

"Your brothers are waiting for you at the playground." This made Lancelot to glance up at his father as Shadow saw his saddened look.

"Papa..." Lancelot trailed off and avoided his father's eyes as Shadow saw that something was bothering him.

"Something's bothering you, son?" Shadow asked, a little concern.

"...Papa, why don't me and my brothers look like Mama?" Lancelot asked in a saddened tone which surprised Shadow a little since he never knew that it was bothering him.

Shadow sat down beside him and put a comforting hand on his back.

"What do you mean?" Shadow asked in confusion.

Lancelot then looked at the picture of his mother at the dresser and Shadow understood what was wrong.

"Shadic has Mama's eyes and Galahad has Mama's color and power. But I..." Lancelot trailed off as he looked down at the floor sadly.

"...I have nothingof her in me."

Shadow finally understood what was wrong. Lancelot thought that his mother loved him less.

"Is that what's bothering you? You think that your mother loves you any less because of that." Shadow told him to make Lancelot look his father in the eyes as he knows that his mother always loves him.

"I know she loves me, but it would be nice to have something in common with her to make me think she's with me all the time." Lancelot told Shadow the reason which made the Ultimate Lifeform to chuckle and smile as he ruffled his son's quills as Lancelot was a little confused.

"Oh, but my boy, you have the mostessential part of your mother." Shadow told him as Lancelot looked at him in confusion while trying to smoothen down his quills.

"Really? What is it?" Lancelot asked curiously, making Shadow smile at him as he put his hands on Lancelot's small shoulders as they both looked at the mirror as Shadow smiled warmly and gave his answer.

"Her smile and compassion. You have her smile and compassion. Every time you do, I always see your mother in it. The same smile that brings light and warmth in anyone's coldest and darkest moments." Shadow then lifted his son's chin gently to make him look in his eyes as he continued.

"Shadic and Galahad have mine, but youand only you have your mother's smile and compassion, my son." Shadow let his chin go gently to let the information sink in.

Lancelot put his hand on his cheek as he looked at his mother's picture before looking in the mirror before smiling, the same smile of his mother as he felt all better. He then turned to his father before jumping on him and gave him a hug with a bright smile on his muzzle.

"Thanks, Papa!" Shadow chuckled and returned the hug before they let go as Shadow held his son in his hands.

"You're welcome. Now are you going to join your brothers or not?" Shadow asked him and put him on the floor as Lancelot nodded, feeling all better.

"Yeah, I will!" Lancelot started to run for the and was about to leave the bedroom but stopped and looked back in the bedroom and waved at his father with a smile before leaving to play with his brothers.

"See you, Papa!"

Shadow just smiled before waving back as he watched his eldest son run off to play with Galahad and Shadic.

Shadow was by the throne room before seeing the window. He walked over to it to see the view of his Kingdom which brought a warm smile to his muzzle but that wasn't the reason why he smiled. He smiled as he looked down and saw his two sons, Galahad and Shadic by the swings and saw Lancelot running towards them and the three started to play happily. The sight made Shadow smile more before hearing soft footsteps approaching him as a soft and angelic kind voice spoke to him.

"So, what were you two talking about?" Shadow turned and saw his wife and the Queen of the Kingdom, Crystal the Merhog or Queen Crystal, walking towards him with a soft smile which was the reason to make him love her even more.

He gently took her hand in his and smiled warmly at his beloved wife.

"Oh, nothing. Just a private chat between father and son." Shadow told her, making Crystal smile, the same smile that Lancelot inherited from her that shined with compassion and love as the same smile between Lancelot and Crystal in the end.
