Chapter 3

Fragments of Memories

A lone woman stood on a cliffside, she wore a cloak that concealed her face and body as she stood over the city of Hashbul, watching chaos ensue. But it all stopped once she saw the green light, she felt that presence before. She knew what it was, a single tear flowed down her cheeks. She walked away and she looked ahead as multiple cloaked figures were in front of her.

"Let's go,"

She walked past them as they followed behind her, disappearing into the forest.

?

In a space where broken rumble floats aimlessly in the space as in the center of the space was a courtroom. The space was devoid of barely any light, in the courtroom stood a puppet that had yellow hair with a some sort of blind fold on.

But she wasn't the only one in the room, many puppets were in that room that all looked like the puppet in the middle. The one in the middle slammed down a pammel as it got the attention of the many puppets in the room.

"Attention, attention!" The puppet demanded.

"We need to discuss the next phase of our plan," the puppet announced.

"Why, we just do the usual, do our own things, it works all the time," a puppet in the seats called out.

"Yeah! It's working smoothly so far, now we just need the other Herrscher cores and then we can destroy humanity,"

"Yeah!" The puppets agreed. But they were silenced once more by the puppet with the pammel.

"Did you not feel that power just now?"

The puppets looked at each other as they nodded agreement. "Indeed, that power surge was strange, almost too familiar and dangerous,"

"Indeed it is because whatever that power surge is, it's still alive and growing with every second," the puppet explained.

"So? What should we do? Kill the source?"

"How? We can't track it anymore!"

The puppets started to argue with one another, trying to find a solution.

"Silence!"

Everyone fell silent as they looked at the center of the courtroom.

"The human Herrschers are close to each other. And I'm sure they wouldn't ignore a power surge that strong, even the Will of Honkai is telling us to destroy it,"

They all looked at each other, hearing their master's name. "It's fine, because we are Herrschers,"

They all stood up as they all giggled maniacally.

"We are the Legion,"

Hashbul City

It seemed like time slowed down as Izuku kept watching the girl in front of him approach. He held the little girl in order to shield her from the incoming debris.

As the girl was now close to Izuku, her purple gaze scanning the boy. Izuku didn't move, he was so caught in her eyes. But for some reason deep down, a cold feeling brewed within, he didn't know why but he shoved it down.

"Are you two alright?" She asked.

Izuku snapped out of it as he nodded in response.

"Good, please evacuate immediately," her voice was stern but gentle at the same time.

Izuku stood up as he carried the girl to the mother who was crying her heart out.

"Here you go ma'am," she handed her child to her as the mother was relieved and embraced her child. Apologizing to the child,

"I'm sorry, Diana"

"I'm sorry, Izuku"

Izuku widened his eyes as he shook his head in confusion.

"Ma'am it's best if we get to shelter and wait for the clear,"

She nodded as she got up and ran off towards the direction of the shelter. Izuku watched her as he couldn't help but wonder why he heard all those voices. What were they? Were those his memories? He didn't know, but it wasn't the time to question it right now. He followed behind the mother and daughter but what he didn't know was that the girl who saved them watched Izuku leave.

She witnessed what he did, what he was capable of… and how reckless his action was.

She then heard movement behind her as she turned to see more Honkai Beast were approaching, especially the giant Parvati.

She unsheathed her blade as lightning danced around her.

"Come, Kurikara…"

With Izuku

"Come in everyone, wait until the Valkyries give the clear,"

Izuku walked around the shelter, looking for Dan. He saw many people hurt, wrapped in bandages and some were in body bags. Izuku didn't know what was happening, this was his first Honkai attack he had witnessed.

He watched as people were filled with sadness and pain. Some were near the body bags, hovering over their dead loved ones. Izuku was surrounded by despair and death. He felt a deep hole inside him, telling him he should've done something…

But what could he have done? There was nothing he could do. Even if he could use that power again that he used against the Ganesha. It's not like he did it on command, it all happened so fast that he couldn't process what was going through his body.

"Izuku?"

He looked up as he saw Dan in front of him.

"Dan-!"

Before he could say anything else Dan elbow locked him under his arm as he gave him a nuggy.

"You damn idiot! You had me scared for a second!" Dan cried

"I should be saying the same thing, you disappeared when things went south," Izuku argued.

Dan let go of Izuku as he looked at Izuku, offended, "Well my bad an entire mob pushed me away from you,"

Izuku smiled as he shook his head, "Well as long as you're fine,"

Dan grinned, "Damn straight,"

"Excuse me? Sir?"

Izuku turned around and saw no one there until he felt a tug in his pants as he looked down to see the young girl he saved.

"Oh? It's you! Are you okay? How's your leg?" Izuku asked.

Dan was confused why Izuku was talking to a little girl.

"It's fine, thanks to you mister! Thank you for saving me!" She bowed her head as Izuku waved his hands.

"Oh! Um, don't mention it, I just… kinda moved without thinking so yeah,"

As Izuku was talking to her the mother approached them as she patted her daughters head, "I can't thank you enough for saving her, you have my gratitude,"

Izuku blushed in embarrassment as he scratched his head, "O-oh um i-it was nothing,"

The daughter jumped in excitement, "You were so cool, you were like a superhero! Are you secretly a Valkyrie?" The girl asked in excitement.

Now Dan was even more confused on what was going on, 'The hell did Izuku do?!'

"Oh no! I'm not, I honestly don't know what I did there,"

"It's not common for a male to use Honkai Energy, you could be the one of many or the first ever male Valkyrie documented, I'd say apply to a Valkyrie academy," the mother suggested.

Izuku continued to wave his hands in denial, "I think we're jumping the gun here, plus I doubt they'll let a boy enter an all girl school,"

The mother nodded, "True, however we are forever in your debt sir, thank you again,"

The girl smiled brightly, "Thank you for saving me Mr. Hero,"

As the two went on their way Izuku turned around to see Dan looking at him suspiciously.

"What?"

"You got a lot to explain dude,"

Izuku sighed as he heard the doors open and saw the rescue team.

"The coast is clear, all Honkai have been eliminated,"

Everyone sighed in relief as Izuku saw everyone got up and headed towards the door.

"We should head out as well, we should go home and get some rest,"

Izuku nodded as he followed Dan but not after turning around to look at the body bags again, he couldn't ignore it. The feeling that was biting him inside.

All he was thinking was, "They could have been saved,"

Schicksal HQ

"Sir the levels are overloading, subject S-001 is awakening,"

Otto stared at the man in the tube. All he saw was glaring red eyes.

"Interesting, that energy spike caused a reaction to him, whatever that was, the two of them might be linked,"

The whole building started to shake as the man in the test tube started to glow as he brought his hands out. A mixture of black and yellow waves started to form out of his hands.

It then expanded as it shot through the entire facility.

"Call in Durandal, she is needed," Otto ordered

"Sir the comms aren't working! All systems have been temporarily shut down!"

Otto then widened his eyes in amusement as he saw subject S-001 crumble his test tube as he stood there holding himself.

All Otto heard coming from his mouth was, "It's…cold…"

A raspy voice came out as the red eyes glowed ever so brightly as the man placed his hands on the ground and from there havoc was released.

Otto instinctively pulled out the Void Archive, narrowly escaping the destruction that happened.

He then was grabbed by the hand, pulling him further away from the havoc.

He watched as his tower crumbled in an instant. He looked who grabbed him, it was Durandal as she had King hold him. She pointed her lance towards the energy she was feeling. This presence was a Herrscher… and something else.

"Shigaraki… One…for…all!"

He shook his head and smiled as he laughed maniacally as he looked up in the sky, "I don't need you anymore master, from now on, I'll cause my own Destruction!"

In the corner of his eyes a large sword was about to slam down on him but he put his hand up as a barrier came out of his hands. Durandal stared down at him but the man was confused, he felt strange, more powerful than he ever did.

"Who are you, Herrscher!" Durandul demanded.

He stared at her, not knowing what Herrscher meant. He only smiled as his eyes were crazed.

"I am Shigaraki!"

He slammed his left hand on the ground as the ground started to crumble beneath him. Durandal pushed herself in the air as she saw the destruction that was once a HQ.

Otto saw how everything turned a light gray before it started to crumble when he touched anything, as if it was decaying..

"Shigaraki was it?"

Otto was fascinated by the destruction, everything he touched decayed. If possible, he could be the one to make his plan into reality.

With Izuku

Izuku jumped up from his bed, feeling something in the distance but he didn't know what it was. He sighed as he couldn't help but wonder what he did that killed the Ganesha. He looked at his right hand, tracing the scars with his eyes. The power that he displayed was so strange and powerful but yet familiar.

Izuku couldn't put a finger on it but he wanted to know what it was. Izuku laid back down as he looked at the ceiling. He felt his eyes slowly starting to close as he fell asleep. When he was sleeping, a pink crystal flower appeared above him, hovering over him. A light giggle could be heard through the flower.

The flower slowly descended onto his chest, upon landing on his chest, it shattered.

With Kiana

Kiana couldn't sleep, she leaned against the railing of the Hyperion. She saw the city lights as she couldn't help but think about what happened and what she saw.

"Is it the new Herrscher, is that why there are so many honkai energy signals?" Seele asked.

"Bronya doesn't know, this isn't like any energy signal that has been documented,"

"Theresa, what do you think?" Fu Hua asked.

Theresa stood there as she was thinking, Theresa was in deep thought as she saw the green light vanish as she then turned towards everyone.

"This might be a stretch, but I don't think it's a new Herrscher but…"

"Auntie…?" Kiana wondered what she was thinking. Theresa then shook her head.

"It's nothing, for the time being, we need to investigate the city. Kiana and Bronya, you'll be sent down to survey the area, report anything unusual,"

They both nodded.

As they exited the room, they got on the deck of the Hyperion as Bronya transformed into her Herrscher form and summoned her bike.

Kiana hoped on as they flew down the city, Kiana kept feeling a strange feeling inside her chest. That green light, it was strange to her, almost as if it was a familiar presence but not to her but the other her within.

"Kiana, we're approaching the city,"

Bronya looked behind her to see Kiana in deep thought, Bronya then smacked her on the head.

"Ow! What was that for!?" Kiana shouted.

Bronya had a smug smile on her face.

"You weren't paying attention, Idioka,"

She kept driving towards Hashbul City as Kiana squinted at Bronya as she saw the smug smile on her face.

"Ah! You did it on purpose, Bronya!

"Bronya doesn't know what Idoika is talking about,"

Kiana pouted as she crossed her arm as she smiled a bit at the antics Bronya displayed. Bronya looked back as she smiled too, "There it is,"

Kiana looked at her confused, "What the city?"

Bronya shook her head, "No, it's nothing Idioka,"

Kiana tilted her head in confusion until both of them heard a loud thunder crackle and then lightning struck down on the city, they saw a stream of red lightning dancing around the vicinity. Kiana knew that lightning anywhere as she widened her eyes in shock.

"Mei-senpai…?"

Bronya looked as she turned her bike around and raced towards the lightning, Kiana held on to the bike as Bronya full throttled through the sky.

"If Mei-senpai is here then that means the World Serpent is also looking for this strange source of energy.

Kiana nodded as she stared at the lightning as she wanted to see her friend. They were above the city now as they saw many Honkai disintegrating. Kiana looked at the havoc the beasts caused but then she felt something inside her awaken, she widened her eyes as she placed her hand on her heart as she heard her voice again. She was frightened, Kiana didn't know why she had awoken again but all she heard from within.

"That boy…"

Kiana was confused, that was all she heard from her she didn't even try to torment her but was focused on something else. She looked down on the streets again as she saw a few people running away from the stream of lighting then she saw a multicolored light inside the boy running behind the other two. It was as if there were multiple souls inside of him. Kiana couldn't get his face because Bronya then abruptly stopped as Kiana turned to see a red dragon in the sky as it shot out a red stream of lightning out of its mouth and on top of the dragon was none other than Raiden Mei.

Kiana froze as she saw her, her cold eyes. Fierce as thunder and lightning combined. She remembered her fight against her. How she completely overpowered her, the Herrscher of Thunder. She built up the courage as her face changed from shock to determination, "MEI-SENPAI!" she shouted.

Bronya then raced towards her. Mei widened her eyes as she looked down to see Bronya and Kiana racing towards her. Mei closed her eyes as she looked at them then unleashed a powerful thunderbolt to the ground as it stopped Bronya from going any further.

Kiana and Bronya couldn't get any closer as the stream of lightning was cleared, she was nowhere to be seen.

Kiana could only stare off in the distance as she couldn't reach her friend again.

Present

"Mei-senpai is in the city, but she's also here for the new Herrscher,"

Kiana looked at a photo she took when they first arrived at St. Freya. She wanted to go back to the time where they were all still learning about being Valkyries but she can't change the past. Himeko wouldn't want her to be this way.

Kiana closed her eyes as she drifted in her sleep. But the one within, stayed awake. She too couldn't rest, not when she felt it. The power that could change humanity forever. The Herrscher of the Void, knew that the Herrscher of Thunder was the least of her concern. The boy was a threat to not only her but the Honkai as well.

The Next Day with Izuku

Izuku yawned as he prepped the ingredients and cleaned the machines in the Cafe as he was getting ready to open.

"Izuku, we're about to open be ready for the customers and Dan, try not to cause any problems,"

Dan grumbled as he was prepping the coffee grinds and the creamers. Izuku set the tables as he made sure they were presentable.

Izuku's and Dan's school was canceled for the next 3 days because of the Honkai attack. Izuku didn't have any plans so he asked his boss if he could work today and Dan did the same thing as well.

Izuku got multiple calls from Henry and Faith, making sure he wasn't hurt. He reassured them this morning and would be visiting them after his shift.

"Alright boys! It's opening time, get ready!"

Izuku nodded as he finished the last table as he walked towards the counter and got ready to make coffee for people. Once the Honkai attack was over, he was surprised that the Cafe was intacted, the owner was relieved that his shop wasn't destroyed.

But some parts of town were completely destroyed, but with advanced technology, they were able to fix some of the damage to the point where it was only minor damage.

Izuku set a coffee mug down but Dan was staring at the green head.

"What?"

"What? You still haven't told me what happened yesterday," Dan answered.

Izuku sighed as he didn't know himself what happened, it all happened so fast that he couldn't register it.

"It's a really long story,"

"Yeah, well I'm eager to listen to this "long story" look just give me the rundown-"

They heard the door ring as they both welcomed the customers in, "We'll talk later but after this, you're telling me what happened," Dan whispered.

"Fine," Izuku replied.

And they got to work.

With Raiden Mei

She strolled out on the street but she was cautious and looked around just to make sure she didn't see Bronya or Kiana in the city.

"Raven, where are you taking me,"

Raven turned towards Mei, "A nice Cafe just up the street, I'm sure we won't be spotted by the two that you're concerned about.

Mei was hesitant but she sighed and followed Raven to the place that she said. It was 8:30 in the morning so she could get some tea or coffee while they were at it.

"So anyway, about what happened yesterday, you sure it was a boy who displayed the energy," Raven asked.

Mei looked at Raven and nodded, "Yes, he displayed speed and inhuman strength that no ordinary human is capable of but it seems that he can't control it,"

Raven put a hand on her chin as she rubbed it, "Maybe he isn't aware of the power, well whatever it is, our job is to watch him and if he loses control, we capture him and send him to HQ,"

Mei nodded, "Still to beat a Ganesha with one hit is something, even if he didn't know to use his powers,"

Raven looked at Mei as she then stopped, Mei wondered why she stopped as she saw Raven placed her hand over her mouth as if she was thinking of something.

"If he beat a Ganesha with uncontrolled power then imagine what would happen if he could control it,"

Mei knew what Raven was talking about, friend or foe, that boy was a potential threat.

"Anyways, for now we just need to watch him and see any differences,"

Raven then continued onward towards the cafe she mentioned as Mei continued to follow behind her. But Mei didn't tell her what she exactly saw, the moment the boy activated his powers, he had no killing intent. The boy saved a little girl and he did it out of instinct, she saw how confused that boy was when he killed the Ganesha. She couldn't help but be reminded of her when he saved that girl. Always risking her life to save others, always trying to be the hero everyone needed. That boy was the same, reckless and selfless.

"And we're here," Raven announced as Mei looked up to see the cafe that Raven was talking about, it was a small cafe on a four way street, tables on the outside and a small sign saying the special of the day.

Mei looked inside to see a couple of people already inside as they were either chatting with each other or on the phone. The two walked in as the smell of coffee grinds hit their nose as the inside was a welcoming grayish interior. The counter was aligned with an array of brands and mugs with bakeries on the displays.

"Ah welcome in," an old man with blonde grayish hair, wearing a barista outfit as he was brewing coffee. The man looked up to see Raven as he was familiar with her.

"Ah Natasha, it's been awhile,"

The man greeted her with a pleasant smile, "Is Sora with you?"

"Not today Gabriel,"

"A shame,"

The man looks at Mei as he smiled at her, "Hello young lady, I'm guessing you're with Natasha as well,"

Mei nodded, the man smiled but he was in a bit of pickle as he was busy with orders, so he couldn't take their orders, he looked around to see Dan flirting with some girls at the school they went to he sighed, he didn't want to bother Natasha and her friend he turned to Izuku as he was cleaning some tables and helping people.

He noticed a pair of mother and daughter were talking to him. The little girl was ecstatic to see him as the mother just watched the two. He didn't want to ruin the moment but he needed to finish these orders.

"Izuku! Could you help these two with their orders,"

Izuku turned towards his boss as he nodded as he grabbed his broom and headed there but was stopped by the little girl, "Are you coming back?"

Izuku smiled, "I'll be back, don't worry,"

"Okay mister hero!"

Izuku just chuckled, for some reason it was strange but also familiar that he was called that.

Izuku headed towards the counter as he went behind the register as he looked at the two.

"Hello, what can I get for you,"

Raven scanned the boy as she smiled a bit, "Just black coffee with some creamers on the side,"

Izuku punched it in the register as he looked up waiting for more. Raven then looked at Mei as it was her turn to order. Izuku followed her eyes as he widened his eyes to see the same girl that saved him from the onslaught of Honkai.

Mei met his eyes as they looked at each other. Izuku scratched the back of his head as he slightly laughed, "I guess we meet again,"

Mei had a slight cold look as she nodded, "Indeed, though just remember to not be reckless again,"

Izuku nodded, her words were cold but caring as well. She then sighed a bit as she looked at him, "I'll have green tea please,"

Izuku then punched that in as Raven signaled him that was all as Izuku told her the price as she paid for it and then he carried on to make their order.

Raven and Mei then went to sit down by the window as Raven looked at the girl.

"So is that the boy from yesterday, who the energy signal was coming from,"

Mei nodded as she thought back to that time. She didn't know why that boy would risk his life like that, she just didn't understand that heroism, to the point where they don't care about dying. It made her angry and sad.

"Izuku!" A familiar voice rang out as Mei turned to see Faith and her fellow Valkyries greeting the boy.

"Faith? On break right now?" Izuku asked.

"Yep, the girls wanted to get some drinks here,"

"Hey~ Izu-kun!" One Valkyrie greeted him as the latter had a slight blush on his face.

"Please don't call me that,"

"Oh come on its cute when you're blushing,"

Faith sighed, "Alright enough of that, we'll get the usual,"

Izuku nodded as he punched in the order as he then carried on and made the orders.

Mei continued to observe the boy as she scanned him, trying to figure out how that boy was a Herrscher to begin with. Either the persona inside of him hasn't fully awoken yet or he's hiding it.

To fully watch him, she needed to get close to him for the mission but… the way the do it at the World Serpent, she disagreed with it. Her best option was to send him to the Hyperion. Where everyone was at.

"Natasha?"

Mei heard Raven's name being called out as Raven was busy with a phone call. Mei got up as she headed towards the counter.

The two met eyes again as Izuku handed her drinks. Mei was about to grab it but then noticed the scars on his right hand.

Izuku looked at her confused on why she froze like that.

"Those scars…where did you get them,"

Izuku looked at his right hand as he set down the cups and observed his hand.

"I don't know,"

Mei looked at him confused, "You don't know?"

Izuku nodded, "The thing is, I have amnesia so anything related to my past, I don't know very well,"

Mei was shocked to hear this, "So you can't remember anything about your life?"

Izuku nodded, "I mean they come in parts but they really don't help that much,"

"I'm sorry to hear that,"

Izuku shook his head and awkwardly smiled, "But, I have a friend that tells me not to worry about it too much,"

Mei looked at him as she softly smiled, reminded of the friends she made but had to leave in order to become strong so she wouldn't fail to save them.

"Well I hope they come back to you,"

Izuku slightly blushed as he nodded, "T-Thank you. Anyways here's your drinks,"

She grabbed them but slightly touched his hands as it sparked instantly, Izuku felt it too. Mei was stunned as her persona saw it as well.

Once Mei touched his hand. She saw it, within Izuku was a bright multicolored flame that burned so bright. But Izuku experienced something different, as soon as she touched his hand, a memory played in his mind. This memory was strange, he saw a woman with purple hair in front of him with cold yellow eyes. There was another as well, a man with glasses and brown hair with a small white highlight on his bangs, witnessing what happened. In the last part of that memory was Izuku with an arm through his chest.

All he heard from that memory was,

"Farewell…Izuku-"

Izuku retracted his hands immediately as his head started to spike out of control. Like a voltage was jabbed into his head.

When she lost contact with his touch, she could no longer see the flames but she saw how Izuku reacted. She looked at him as she didn't know what he was or what that flame was. It wasn't a Herrscher core nor was it Honkai energy. But what she could tell was…it was sentient.

"Hey are you okay?" She asked, ignoring what she saw as she saw him in a daze.

"Huh?... Oh um yeah I'm fine, anyways enjoy your drinks," Izuku then moved away from the counter as he went into the back, Mei watched him go in as she knew it affected him too but it looked like he saw something to her. She didn't dwell on it as she went back to Raven but not while thinking about what she saw.

Izuku stood there as he didn't know what just happened, why did a memory play when they touched. He didn't understand he placed his hand on his forehead as he wanted answers, the growing curiosity started to build up each time these memories kept appearing.

Then he heard his boss call him.

"Hey Izuku help me with this order,"

"Um right! I'll be right there,"

Izuku then walked towards his boss but his mind still kept thinking about that moment.

That memory, what did it mean and what was he the last of?

Few Hours later

The time was 5:30p.m, Izuku got off of work as his boss let him off early but Dan was stuck cleaning the place for flirting with customers.

Izuku walked down the streets as he checked his phone for the time as he decided he would get some lunch before he headed to Henry's place.

Izuku kept thinking about that memory that played. Why did it appear when she touched him, did she have something to do with it? Or was it something entirely different. Izuku sighed as he was frustrated. He wanted to know who he was, what did he do?

Not too far from the vicinity, Raiden Mei was on top of a building as she observed him from afar as she took a picture of him and sent it to someone.

She then put her phone away as she stared at him, wondering about the flame inside of him.

With ?

He heard a notification buzz as a man with an umbrella and a mask that had one eye glowing.

"You're Highness, it seems they have located who released the energy source,"

His cold blue eyes looked at the man, "Show me who did it,"

"As you wish,"

The man looked at the screen as a photo of Izuku popped up. He widened his eyes as he stood up from his throne.

"That boy… it can't be…"

"You're highness?"

The man stayed silent as he then turned to his servant, "Order them to keep watch and observe,"

"Understood,"

He walked towards the screen as he looked at the green haired boy.

"So you live, Izuku…"
