Chapter 10

The Strawhats vs the Krieg Pirates, Mew assists, Luffy vs Krieg, Sanji vs Pearl

Or

Usopp's bag of tricks, the fiery spirit of a cook, beware the poison bomb, gum-gum *Redacted*

"Usopp, Nami, you guys take care of the pirates. I'm going after Krieg!" Luffy shouted as rubbery arms stretched out and grabbed onto the edge of the platform.

"Gum-Gum Rocket!" A speeding Luffy shot through the air, knocking aside some of the attacking pirates as he flew towards Krieg. The sudden departure left Mew spinning in midair. Mew righted itself a second later before drifting lazily over to where Zeff was standing at the entrance to the Baratie.

Mew flopped down onto one shoulder and closed its eyes. Floating pink Z's drifted up from it seconds later. Even if everyone hadn't been kung-fu fighting none of the Straw Hats would have questioned it. Much like Luffy's antics, the crew had started to grow used to the chaos Mew caused.

Usopp's knees knocked together as pirates pulled themselves onto the platform and then charged at him. The mantra of 'be brave like Mew, be brave like Mew' ran through his head as he reached into his bag. Why he thought Mew was brave was something not even Arceus knew. He had, with the help of Mew, prepared new types of slingshot ammo. Ones that he was eager to now test out.

"Usopp Surprise Stars!"

In rapid succession he aimed and released three of his new weapons at the incoming pirates. Each was the size of a large marble but grew to the size of an apple soon after Usopp fired them. Each ball was divided into two parts, the upper half red, the lower half white with what looked like a button on the front.

The balls didn't ever reach the pirates, that wasn't what these ones were for after all. Instead halfway to the pirates each ball exploded with red light and disgorged their contents. Glowing stones that floated in the air and quickly disappeared, spikes, and spikes coated with poison shot out in every direction. Right in the incoming pirates path, turning the safe approach into a trap filled gauntlet.

"Yes!" Usopp cheered as Krieg's men stumbled into the traps, their charge broken by the unexpected dangers. He reached into his bag and pulled out his more normal ammo to pepper the enemy with.

The first few men to make it through the traps found Nami waiting for them. New and improved bo staff whirled through the air and cracked against heads, shins, and arms. Nami masterfully wielded the staff to full and deadly effect. An impressive display of power if anyone had been watching to take notice.

At the edge of the platform and well separated from the rest of the battle Sanji and Gin were playing patty cake. If patty cake involved taking turns to smack Patty back and forth between them. If anyone had been paying the slightest bit of attention to them at that moment it would have been obvious that none of the group was actually trying all that hard to cause any kind of injury. Most of Patty's actual movement was him faking stumbling between Sanji and Gin.

None of them actually seemed to be all that bothered by the fact that they weren't really doing anything to contribute to the fight.. At least until a large man carrying two round shields and wearing a giant pearl hat pulled himself onto the platform.

"Ah shit, it's Pearl." Gin growled as he stepped back from Sanji and lowered his weapons. Patty, who had been expecting to get hit, stumbled off the platform with a splash.

"I take it, you know him then?" Sanji asked as he walked around Gin and kicked Patty back out of the water. The cook bouncing once before he landed over where Zeff stood. Who then kicked Patty back into the Baratie without even looking.

"Unfortunately. I was kind of hoping that he drowned. He's won 63 battles without ever spilling a drop of blood." As Sanji raised one swirly eyebrow a mast that Luffy had been clinging to while fighting Krieg fell and smacked Pearl on the head hard enough that his nose began to bleed.

"The problem is when he bleeds in any way." Pearl slammed his shields together several times before bursting into flames. White flames. "He goes and sets himself on fire." Gin finished.

"You have very strange allies."

"Says the man allied with a magical cat creature."

"Touche."

Sanji stared silently at Pearl as the man proceeded to set fire to any nearby Krieg Pirates. Oddly the flames that tried to spread to the platform itself gained a pink tint before they were smothered by an unseen force.

"Guess I need to deal with this myself."

As Sanji said that he dashed across the space that separated him from Pear, his body looked like it was flickering because of how fast he moved. Pearl stared at Sanji as the cook stopped before him, seemingly surprised that someone could get that close and not be burned. So Pearl launched a flaming pearl at Sanji, the man blinking when his attack passed harmlessly through Sanji.

He was still staring at the spot that Sanji had occupied several seconds before as Zeff kicked with one leg and extinguished the flaming pearl. Above and unseen by Pearl, Sanji started to spin rapidly. Pearl's white flames getting sucked up into the vortex that Sanji had created with his spin. Finally, as if noticing that his flames had vanished, Pearl looked up.

"Face!" Sanji shouted. Except he said it in French and the author couldn't be bothered to look up a translation. A flaming foot slammed into Pearl's face instantly knocking Pearl out.(AN: Before this chapter was posted the author was informed that one possible context French spelling of Face was in fact Face. The author found this hilarious and thus had to inform everyone. Please like and subscribe… I mean review. Wait this is an author note shouldn't this be at the start of the chapter?!)

"Gin! Now's your chance, take Zeff as a hostage!" Krieg shouted as he yanked Luffy off of his face. Luffy having apparently decided that trying to smother Krieg was a legit method of defeating him. Gin looked over at Zeff then over at Krieg as Krieg punted Luffy to a nearby piece of flotsam.

"Yeaaaah, no. I'm not gonna do that."

Krieg sputtered angrily. Gin refused to obey him. Luffy made a menace of himself in the meantime. Zeff stood stoically with Mew seemingly asleep on his shoulder. Usopp and Nami looted the bodies and came up with 236 berri and a magic fire ring on the body of a random wolf that was apparently part of Krieg's crew.

There was much drama. Much sarcasm. Very wow. There were threats of poisoning by an exploding bomb. Gas masks were pulled out and readied. Pearl woke up and charged towards Gin at Krieg's command.

Before Pearl could reach the first mate however a pink glow surrounded his body, his feet still comically running in thin air as he was lifted up. Pearl shot through the air as Mew threw him using Psychic, the man vanishing into the distance. If he landed in the water no one was around to see it.

"This is the MH5! A powerful poison gas bomb that not a single one of you will survive! Gin I order you not to use your gas mask. Suffer with these dead fools!" Krieg roared as he aimed the shield at the group defending the Baratie. A pill shaped object exploded out of the shield like a cannonball. Sickly yellow gas spilling from it to blanket the field. Krieg's men were shocked to see through the lenses of the gas mask that the defenders weren't reacting to the oncoming death with any kind of worry.

The poison gas cloud continued to spread as it creeped closer and closer then the cloud started to shrink. Mew floated just in front of the cloud several white petal flowers now covering its tail. The petals of the flowers started to darken to black as they seemingly sucked up the gas. In seconds every trace of the poison cloud was gone, pulled into the now black flowers on Mew's tail.

Krieg stared uncomprehendingly at the scene with his mouth hanging open. An expression that was mirrored on the faces of his men and Gin. Casually Mew plucked the flowers off of its tail and dropped them into the water where they promptly sank. Luffy, with a wide grin on his face, walked over to Krieg.

"I'm gonna end this now."

Krieg blinked. He looked down as Luffy's head and neck stretched backwards. Krieg could have sworn that for a moment Luffy's skin turned blue and that he had donned a pair of triangular tipped sunglasses. One might even call them Kamina glasses except the glasses came first.

"Gum-Gum Skull Bash!"

Luffy's head snapped forward, colliding with Krieg's invincible armor with a resounding bang that seemed to shake the air.

"That was awesome! Thanks for telling me how to do it Mew!" Luffy, and his skull, didn't look the least bit hurt. The same couldn't be said for Krieg's armor as it shattered into chunks. Krieg toppled backwards, a wispy white spirit floating up from his mouth to show that he was unconscious.

Meanwhile on the island of misfit toys, er rare animals

Garp's fist slammed into the pink and black monstrosity before him with all the force he could muster behind it. Rather than block the blow like any reasonable creature would, the pink and black thing countered with a brutal Hammer Arm. Both parties reeling back from the respective hits.

"Bewear!" The creature apparently called Bewear roared as it brutally swung at Garp. One could even call it a Brutal Swing.

"Garp!" Garp roared back as he replied with a punch of his own. Why did Garp shout his own name? Was it because all the blows to the head had knocked out a few brain cells? No it was just because Garp was like that sometimes.

Well away from the fight Coby and Helmepo sat on empty treasure chests and watched. Gaimon watched from where he stood next to them.

"So Morgan in a desperate-" Coby was saying.

"And fake." Helmepo interjected

"Yes and fake attempt to redeem himself." Coby continued smoothly as if he hadn't been interrupted. "Asked Garp if he could take the ship and go to capture Luffy and Mew. Garp, for reasons that he didn't explain, agreed and let Morgan take the rest of the ship and crew before having us dropped off here." Coby finished explaining to Gaimon as to why the three Marines were here in the first place.

"Huh." Was the only response that Gaimon managed. Way up in the sky above the island something twinkled.
