CHAPTER 2
Don't try to be
better than the others,
try to be better
of yourself.
Pov's Draco
When I arrived at the headquarters of the newspaper I was amazed at how many rooms and offices there were and, when I entered, I went to the secretary who, not hearing me enter, was talking quietly on the phone.
I smiled thinking of how many girls I had met so careless in my life, I cleared my voice trying to get her attention.
-Excuse me! I need some information! - I said while waving my hand, my effort was in vain and, getting nervous, I decided to look for Sarah's office alone.
I walked to the first floor where another girl was writing on the computer. I knocked on the door and she immediately raised her head.
-Can I help you? - asked the young woman, looking at me.
-Yes. My name is Draco Malfoy, I'm looking for the editor of the newspaper. I have some questions! - I pulled out my badge and she, after observing it, beckoned me to wait. After a few minutes she said to me: "The director is waiting for you... last door down the hall!". I thanked her and I walked to the door indicated by the girl, knocking before entering as my parents had taught me.
- Forward! - answered a sweet voice on the other side of the door.
- Good morning, Miss Sarah, I'm Draco Malfoy.. A policeman from Slytherin Barracks. Do you have a minute to answer any questions? -
- Of course! Please, sit down. What do you want to talk about?! - Sarah asked. She was a beautiful girl, she was 28 years old and on sight, she looked like a female version of me. She had long blond hair, almost platinum-plated, gray-blue eyes, and was dressed in a pink dress.
- Here I would like to talk about Agnes... Have you noticed anything strange recently? -
- Agnes was a particular person, had lost her mother in an attack and had been taken over by a family of this country... She didn't say anything about her private life, all I know is that she was a girl who liked parties, and on the closing days of the paper, you always found her in some club. Until the day of the accident...! -
- What accident..? Something serious? - I asked her, looking at the girl and waiting for the answer, writing in my notebook everything she told me.
- She had had an accident in the car and therefore, despite not having hit anyone, she had gone into psychotherapy and had undergone a special treatment! -
-Do you know the doctor's name!? -
- Unfortunately no, she never talked about this doctor! -
- Okay, thank you. If you can think of anything, this is my card. -
- If I remember anything I'll call her! - smiles at the girl and then I walked to the stairs that led me to the exit of the building.
I was walking towards the entrance of the park when my phone started ringing. I saw Theodore's number on the screen, and I answered him.
Draco: "Hello Theodore, tell me everything?"
Theodore: "Hello Draco, I wanted to know how the meeting with the director went?"
Draco: "Yes, I talked to her! but it was a conversation in vain...even she doesn't know anything."
Theodore: "From Draco tell me everything!"
Draco: "Sarah declares that because of an accident, without victims, Agnes, was being treated by a doctor..She got scared, so she was on medication."
Theodore: "Very interesting! We have new elements and new clues...I'm pretty sure we're about to find the killer..."
Draco: "Listen Theodore, would you like to eat with me tonight?"
Theodore: "Tonight I can't... I'm seeing a girl.! listen Draco why don't you come with me?"
Draco: "Do you really want it?!"
Theodore: "Of course Draco, you are part of my family!"
Draco: "What time and where will I see you?"
Theodore: "We are standing in front of the central Park gate. I recommend Draco, dress up!"
After having exclaimed a certain, I greeted him and, given the time, I decided not to return to the office, heading towards my home to prepare for the evening I would spend with Theodore.
CENTRAL PARK, at 20
I arrived at the meeting place in perfect time ,and seeing that Theo had not yet arrived, I decided to waste time looking for new evidence and clues.. Of course I couldn't do much with the elegant dress on, but I could gather more information; however I couldn't do more as Theodore and his friend arrived a few minutes after me, and both approached to begin the presentations.
Or rather, Theodore made the introductions! Alyssa was a shy girl, she spoke little and from what little she said, I felt that she was a smart girl as well as very smart.
- Good evening Draco, I present Alyssa. Alyssa him, and' Draco... Do not be frightened by his icy look, and' as good as bread! - the young woman laughed, and gently put her hand to me.
- The pleasure is mine, Draco! - said the young woman.
I shook her hand, returning not only the handshake but also the greeting and after I had said something, under the nervous gaze of Theo, we headed towards Toni's Restaraunt . The place clearly served typical Italian food, of which Alyssa to Theodore was crazy. Once inside we discovered that Sarah, a friend of Alyssa's who had kindly booked a table for us, would join us..
- Excuse me, Theodore, what is the editor of the newspaper doing here? - I asked, approaching my classmate.
- I actually invited her because as a friend of Alyssa's, I wanted you to meet her... You know, with that Central Park serial killer around, you don't want to leave the girls alone. I want you to protect Sarah! -
- Do you think she can become a victim too? -
- I don't know Draco, but it's better not to leave the girls alone! -
Despite this small dialogue between Theodore and I, we had a pleasant evening, talking about more and less, and dancing occasionally some group dances. Both Theodore and I discovered in our partners perfect dancers and both danced late into the night.
While Theo and Alyssa were dancing a tango, Sarah and I sat down at the table, talking about those murders that had upset our country, discovering that we had created a beautiful complicity. As we spoke, I saw Theodore sitting at the table, while his "Friend" was walking away to go to the toilet, talking on the phone.
I saw in her face fear and anxiety, and after apologizing to Sarah, I followed Alyssa. I could hear her voice coming out scared and fearful, and trying to understand what she was saying, I hid behind the wall.
Listen, I don't know who you are and what you want from me! I just know you have to leave me alone! I wonder why you are threatening me?! Didn't you just kill all those women? Just leave me alone! -
She closed the call by slamming the phone on the sink and, after locking herself in the bathroom, started crying.
Seeing that scene I decided the next day to tell my friend the truth.
I was hoping I was wrong, but if we didn't help her, Alyssa would soon be the next victim of the serial killer.
