Mist and Maelstroms: Chapter 20
With Naruto: in the middle of the lake
Naruto was standing in the middle of the lake looking at the giant shark Hito-gui as he circled around him "now then boy are you ready to begin your 3 trials" the giant shark said and Naruto nodded while taking out his sword.
"Bring it on I'll take on what ever you can throw at me" Naruto said and the shark chuckled.
"Very well boy" Hito-gui said "first will your test of strength against the most dangerous shark in the world; the bull shark" he said. Suddenly there was a splash of water and a 11-foot bull shark appeared and Hito-gui dived under the water as another shark appeared.
The shark has thousands of scars across its body; it wore what looked like steel plate armor over its body and had teeth that were metal. "My name is Yamamoto boy; and I am the head of the bull shark house" Yamamoto said making Naruto go wide eyed "I am the strongest shark under the boss; and I have only been beaten twice, once by Kisame and once by the first Mizukage" he said.
Naruto thumbed his nose and smirked "I'm Naruto Uzumaki; former 9 tails container and wielder of the executioners blade, and I'm about to be the third person to defeat you" Naruto said and the shark laughed.
"We'll see boy" Yamamoto said "no more talk lets fight" he said; Yamamoto sway towards Naruto at an incredible speed causing waved to form in his wake. Naruto put his blade in front of him as Yamamoto opened his jaws to bite him; Yamamoto bit down on the blade his teeth sinking into the blade making Naruto go wide eyed.
Yamamoto began pushing Naruto backwards as Naruto struggled to use the water walking technique as the water was moving away faster than he could stand on it.
On the shore
Mei, Jiraya, Kisame, Ao and Raiga were all looking on as Naruto was being pushed back by the bull shark; Jiraya was looking on calculatingly as he studied the battle.
"Naruto is at a significant disadvantage in this fight" he commented as everyone looked at him "Naruto has never fought an entire battle on top of water; so, if he loses his concentration and his walk on water technique and carrying that big ass sword- "he said and Mei saw what he was getting at.
"He'll sink underwater and have a hard time getting back to his feet" Mei said "and once he's underwater, he'll be screwed" she said as she looked on at the fight. "But that won't happen" Mei said gaining all their attentions "he's unpredictable and also he still has one giant power booster he hasn't used yet" she said and they all nodded as they knew what she was getting it.
With Naruto
Yamamoto jumped out of the water and came down like a missile towards Naruto; Naruto seeing this jumped out of the way as a giant splash erupted showering him in water. Naruto regained his footing just in time to be rammed in the chest by Yamamoto who popped out of the water; Naruto coughed up blood as he was sent skipping across the water.
Naruto slammed into a rock bordering the edge of the lake "oh… god" Naruto groaned as he fell forward before correcting himself and standing up holding his side "I think that broke my ribs" he wheezed out as he walked forward. "Ok fuck this" Naruto said as he began to build his chakra; red chakra began to form around him and take shape.
Naruto's red chakra then formed into his Fox Armor and his sword began to glow red; Yamamoto seeing this began to chuckle 'that's it boy; don't hold anything back' he thought as he began to swim towards Naruto once again. As Yamamoto approached, he opened his jaws and launched towards Naruto; Naruto swung his sword hitting Yamamoto in midair.
Naruto purposefully used the flat side of the blade as to not kill the shark; Yamamoto began to fly off to the side but in a moment, he had an idea. He spun around and slapped the sword from Naruto's hands sending it towards the shore line.
On the shore
"Shit get down" Raiga shouted as he, Mei, Jiraya, and Ao all ducked to avoid being hit by the blade; Kisame standing wall just reached out his hand and caught the blade by the handle.
Kisame then spun the blade and stabbed it into the ground "it'll be fine here" he said nonchalant as he looked down at the 4 prone ninjas "you 4 can get up now" he said.
Back with Naruto
'Fuck my sword' Naruto thought as he saw Yamamoto come back for a second attack 'looks like I'll have to do this the old fashion way' he thought as he cocked back his fist. As Yamamoto approached Naruto threw a punch at the charging shark; Yamamoto seeing the punch opened his mouth.
Yamamoto proceeded to bite down on Naruto's right arm his teeth going through the armor and into his arm 'Oh shit' Naruto thought as he couldn't feel the pain. 'Well my arm isn't severed so- 'Naruto began until Yamamoto began thrash Naruto around; "Holy shit" Naruto shouted as he was thrashed around by his arm.
Naruto was being tossed like a rag doll by Yamamoto; Naruto seeing an opportunity clenched his other fist and cocked it back. Naruto charged up his left fist with charka and sent it towards Yamamoto; Naruto punched Yamamoto in the head with all his might.
Yamamoto was struck by Naruto and his world went black; Yamamoto let go of Naruto's arm as he was sent flying across the water until he stopped. Yamamoto now unconscious floated in the water for a few seconds until he vanished in a puff of smoke and Hito-gui came out of the water.
"Very good boy" Hito-gui said "trail 1 out of 3 completed; how do you feel" he asked as Naruto disabled his cloak; once Naruto's cloak was disabled everyone saw Naruto's right arm bleeding as there were multiple puncture wounds on his arm.
"Damn this hurts" Naruto shouted as he grabbed his arm trying to stem the bleeding "goddamn it" Naruto shouted as he ripped off his jacket and took off his shirt and used it to wrap the wound. Naruto now with nothing covering his upper body looked down and saw his right ribs were purple from the hit he took from Yamamoto earlier 'crap' Naruto thought.
Hito-gui chuckled as he swam around Naruto "no shame in giving up when you are wounded boy" he said mockingly to Naruto "what do you say boy; ready to give up" he said. Naruto looked at him and stuck his tongue out.
"I never give up; got it" Naruto shouted at the shark "bring on the next one" he said and Hito-gui spoke.
"Very well boy" he said before diving back down into the lake.
A second later another splash erupted and Naruto prepared to face another giant shark; however, he did not see anything and he looked around "u-um h-hello" a meek feminine voice said. Naruto looked down and saw a 2-foot-long shark swimming next to his feet; the shark was light grey with blades attached to its fins "I'm W-Watasumi; I'm a M-Mako shark and Heiress of the Mako shark house" she said. "T-this is a-also my first real f-fight" she said nervously.
Naruto bent down with a goofy smile on his face "aww you look kind cute" Naruto said making the young shark fidget "well let's have a good fight ok" he said as he jumped back and got ready. 'She's just a little kid; I'm sure- 'he began until Watasumi rushed at Naruto in a blur of grey.
Faster than Naruto could see Watasumi slammed into Naruto's gut knocking the wind out of him; she followed up with a spin using the blade on her fin to cut Naruto across his chest deep enough to cause pain but not deep enough to kill. Naruto was sent skipping across the water; when he stopped, he got back up on wobbly legs.
"I-I'm sorry I d-didn't hurt you too bad did I" Watasumi asked in concern; Naruto smiled a smiled a bloody smile and gave her a thumbs up.
"Nah I'm good; good hit though" Naruto said; but inside Naruto's mind 'holy shit that fucking hurt like a mother fucker' Naruto shouted in his mind. 'Damn she's fast I couldn't even see her' he thought.
On the shore
"She's a Mako shark" Ao said gaining everyone's attention "that's the world's fastest swimming shark; Naruto is fast but not fast enough to combat her speed" he said. Raiga looked at him and spoke.
"Just how fast can a Mako shark swim" Raiga asked and Ao frowned.
"About 31 miles per hour at max but they can burst up to 46" Ao said and everyone except Kisame had a look of concern.
"The brat will be fine" Kisame said gaining all their attentions "besides he's lucky he's fighting her instead of a more experienced member of her house" he said.
With Naruto
Naruto saw running across the water as he ducked under another attack from Watasumi; Naruto avoided the ram from her but was still cut once again by her blade across his back.
'Gah crap that hurts' Naruto thought as he continued running across the water while keeping an eye on the fast-moving shark; 'how the hell am I suppose to catch her when she moves so dam fast' he thought. Just then Naruto had an idea 'wait I don't need to catch her' Naruto thought as he stopped and stood still on the water.
Watasumi seeing this was confused but was too close to stop her attack; as she swam at top speed towards Naruto, she burst out of the water aiming at Naruto's back. 'I'm sorry this will only hurt for a second' she thought; as she neared Naruto he suddenly spun around.
Naruto caught Watasumi missing her blades and held her tight as she began to thrash around "haha gotcha" Naruto said with a wide smile on his face. Watasumi quit thrashing around and began to pout.
"Oh phooey; I thought I was going to win" Watasumi whined; Naruto then leaned down and kissed her on her nose with a smile on his face.
"Don't be sad you did great" Naruto said cheering the small shark up; Naruto put Watasumi back into the water as she began to swim again "lets spar again sometime ok" he said and Watasumi nodded.
"Ok big brother Naruto" Watasumi said as she disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Hito-gui appeared once again and spoke "very good brat; defeating someone with greater speed by luring them in" he said as she circled Naruto "however Watasumi is still young; she can only go about one tenth as fast as an adult Mako" he said making Naruto pale.
'Wait seriously; they gave me a slow one' Naruto thought 'oh man I'm glad they felt merciful' he thought.
"Now for your final test; you must hone your senses and find your prey in the dark" Hito-gui said; a small shark came out of the water and gave Naruto a blue apple "that is a sea apple; it will temporarily give you the ability to breath underwater" he said and Naruto looked at him wide eyed.
"Underwater; the next test is underwater" Naruto shouted and the shark nodded; Naruto looked at the apple and shrugged "I made it this far; what the hell" Naruto said as he ate the apple. "Oh, gross it taste like raw oysters" Naruto said in disgust; suddenly Naruto's ribs began to sting and when Naruto looked down on both sides of his ribs, he had grown gills "ok freaky but- "Naruto began until he started having trouble breathing. 'Can't breathe' Naruto thought as he began to panic.
Hito-gui created a giant dome of water with glowing orbs in it and put Naruto right in the middle of it; Naruto began to breath through his gills and stopped panicking "oh thank god" Naruto said under water.
"Now boy for your final trial; good luck" Hito-gui said as he vanished; Naruto looked around trying to see his opponent. Naruto nearly pissed himself as a black shadow crossed in front of him.
"Hello youngster; how fares you" said a old voice "I am Nagano; I am a Greenland shark and the oldest of the summoning sharks" he said making Naruto surprised.
"Really how old are you" Naruto asked and the old shark chuckled.
"250 years old" Nagano said making Naruto go slack jawed "now then son are you ready to begin your final trial" he said and Naruto nodded in confidence.
"Bring it on old timer" Naruto said and the shark laughed.
"Ok then… here… we… go" Nagano said; the orbs giving light suddenly went out and Naruto was left in the pitch-black darkness.
Naruto began to look around unable to see anything; Naruto put his hand in front of him seeing only darkness. Naruto began to swim around underwater trying to find his opponent; as Naruto swam, he was suddenly rammed from underneath. Nagano drove his nose into Naruto's gut knocking the breath out of him; Nagano proceeded to slap Naruto with his tail and swim away.
"Use your senses boy" Nagano said "you rely too much on your eyes" he said; Naruto held his gut as blood began to come out of his mouth and mix with the water.
On the shore
Mei was looking at the giant dome of water and straining her eyes trying to see Naruto; Mei seeing what looks like a tint of yellow spoke up "I think I see him; well, his hair at least" Mei said pointing at a certain spot on the dome.
"I can't see a fucking thing" Kisame said squinting "he's probably fighting a deep-water shark" he said.
Ao made a hand sign 'Byakugan' Ao activated his stolen doujutsu; Ao looked inside the dome and saw Naruto getting blindsided by a shark from multiple angles. "I see him" Ao said "and he looks like he's having a hard time" he said.
With Naruto
Naruto was hit across the face one more by his opponent before he swam away 'damn it' Naruto thought 'ok, ok, think Naruto; he said you rely too much on your eyes' he thought. Naruto closed his eyes and began to just float in the water.
Naruto began to focus and feel his surrounding; Naruto's skin began to tingle from the coldness of the water, his fingers felt every shift in the currents and his hair felt every vibration in the water. Suddenly Naruto felt a shift on his left side as his skin grew warmer, his fingers twitched and his hair shifted; Naruto spun cocking his fist and threw a punch into the darkness.
The hit landed as he bopped Nagano on the nose "hahaha very good boy" Nagano said impressed "you're smarter than I thought you'd be; you pass" he said as he swam into the darkness. Naruto let out a sigh of relief ad the dome began to dispel and flow back into the lake.
Naruto was now standing on the lake just as his temporary gills began to disappear; Hito-gui came out once more and spoke.
"Well boy you passed" Hito-gui said "seems you are worthy to learn the ways of the shark; but be warned the training you will receive will make everything else in your life seem pitiful by comparison" he said and Naruto thumbed his nose.
"I'm not scared bring it on" Naruto said and the shark chuckled; Hito-gui then vanished in a puff of smoke leaving Naruto alone on the water. Mei, Jiraya and the others ran over to Naruto who was wobbling on his feet.
"Naruto you did it; I'm so proud of you" Mei said giving him a hug and a kiss "how do you feel honey" she said; Mei then got a good look at Naruto and saw he was bruised, beaten, bleeding and wobbling.
"I'm in a lot of pain" Naruto said with a weak smile "but I won" he said; Naruto began to fall backwards until he was caught by Kisame.
"Woah kid" Kisame said before hoisting him onto his shoulder "lets get him home" Kisame said as they all walked away.
A few hours later
Mei and Jiraya were walking to her house to check up on Naruto; Naruto was patched up and put in bed and Mei went out to get some groceries for dinner.
"So now Naruto is training in 3 different areas" Mei said "Shark sage style, Kiri water jutsu and that elemental rasengan" she said. Mei looked over to Jiraya "do you even know how to make one yourself" she asked and Jiraya laughed heartily.
"Nope no idea; I'm a trail and error type teacher" Jiraya said making Mei sweat drop "don't worry it we'll figure it out" Jiraya said. "You know Mei I'm glad Naruto found a woman like you" Jiraya said making Mei look at him surprised "Naruto hasn't had an easy life and that is partly my fault and the villages' fault despite sensei's intervention" he said. "So, what I'm saying is thank you; I haven't seen love like that since Minato and Kushina" Jiraya said and Mei blushed.
"For a pervert you can give a good pep talk about love" Mei said and Jiraya chuckled.
"Well, I try" Jiraya said; Mei and Jiraya walked up to her house and entered. As soon as they entered they heard laughter from both Naruto and what sounded like a girl.
"What the hell" Mei said as they followed the noise; they went to the bathroom and entered. Upon entering they saw Naruto sitting on the toilet and Watasumi swimming in the bath tub.
"Hey Mei you're back" Naruto said.
"Umm Naruto why is there a little shark in my bath tub" Mei asked confused.
"Oh, this is Watasumi; the Mako shark from my trail" Naruto said "she talked to her dad and made a request" he said and Watasumi nodded.
"I asked my daddy if I could be Brother Naruto's partner and he said yes" Watasumi said and Mei and Jiraya sweat dropped.
"Uh how do you intend to be his partner" Jiraya aksed "after all don't you need water to like… live" he said and Watasumi giggled.
"Well yes in this form but I also have a human form too" Watasumi said surprising all of them.
"Really can I see" Naruto said and Watasumi nodded.
"Sure" Watasumi said; Watasumi puffed into smoke and in the bathtub appeared a little girl around 7 or 8. "What do you think" Watasumi said holding her arms out; Watasumi had long light grey hair, shark teeth, eyes with black pupils and a adorable face. She was naked and everyone saw that she had gills on her ribs and she pointed at them "these work in a way where if I need to swim in the water, I can breathe but I can also breath air like you humans do" she said.
"Oh my god you are adorable" Mei squealed as she ran up and grabbed into a hug Watasumi; Mei brought Watasumi's head into her chest and began to stroke her hair "you are the cutest thing I've seen in a long time" she said and Watasumi blushed.
"Thank you miss Mei" Watasumi said hugging her back "your pretty too" she said.
Mei then looked at Naruto "Naruto go and get one of your shirts and your boxers for Watasumi here" she said "I'll take you out cloths shopping tomorrow ok" Mei said and Watasumi nodded.
"Yeah, sounds like fun" Watasumi said.
Later that night
Naruto and Mei laid down in bed with Watasumi in between them and Koro at the foot of the bed.
"Night, night Naruto" Watasumi said as she snuggled against Naruto; Naruto leaned down and kissed her forehead.
"Goodnight Watasumi" Naruto said as the little shark girl closed her eyes; Naruto looked over to Mei and kissed her on the lips "goodnight my queen" he said with a soft smile.
"Goodnight my Maelstrom" Mei said with a soft smile; Naruto and Mei both closed their eyes as the now family of 4 began to sleep the night away.
Ok another chapter done I hope you all like it; so yeah Naruto has Watasumi as a familiar now, he's going to begin his shark training and things are going to get better. Ok then if you enjoyed it please, like comment and share with your friends and until next time bye.
