Author's Note: So I was playing Brotherhood earlier, and was thinking as great as Ezio is, there would of been no way the horses would know where they were going without being commanded (plot hole from ubisoft in my opinion) so I decided to write this based on a crossover headcanon of mine. It's another short story of Mario coming to Ezio's rescue in yet another getaway mission (Mario from Super Mario not Ezio's Uncle because he's dead) Anyway on with the story...

Ezio ran out of the Borgia Fort having just blown up the entire place with explosives.

He had achieved his mission which was to destroy Leonardo's machine gun so the Borgia wouldn't abuse and use it to their advantage, now it was time for him to escape.

Jumping off a hill, Ezio leaped towards the nearest carriage, not bothering about who was on it, he would worry about that later.

He landed with a soft crunch, crouching on his knees. The cart was manned by a Borgia Guard who had his back turned to him, manning and operating the cart.

Merda. Of all the carriages I choose, it has to be this one. Ezio scolded himself mentally.

Ezio tiptoed closer, knowing what he had to do. There wasn't time to fath around.

Just throw the guy off and be done with it.

Ezio did a slide jump and landed next to the guard who looked back at him in surprise.

"Time to go" Ezio grabbed the man by the chest, ready to throw him off until the man stopped him

"Wait. Stop. Don't throw me off. Please" The Borgia guard begged

"Why not? Tell me why I should spare you. Wait Oh no I shouldn't your the Borgia after all" Ezio snarled

"Because I'm not the Borgia. Ezio it's me. Mario" Mario took off the Borgia Uniform hat, revealing his brown locks to Ezio

Ezio released his grip on Mario as Mario dusted himself off and took control of the horse's reins once more.

Ezio folded his arms unimpressed. "Mario, What are you doing mingling with the Borgia. You shouldn't be here"

Mario sighed relieved that Ezio had come to his senses "I know I shouldn't. But I knew you needed a getaway driver. Leonardo told me about you coming here to destroy his machine gun so Luigi killed a guard for me and then I stole his uniform. I then stole one of the carriages as soon as I heard the explosion I knew it was you and that you needed a ride"

Ezio frowned. Leonardo really? I will be having a word with him later.

"I see. Well it's good to have you back Mario. Right now we need to get out of here as fast as we can back to Roma, do you think you will be able to do that?"

"Yes" Mario replied nodding

Soon enough they were interrupted by a shout from an advancing Borgia Guard.

"There he is. Get that traitor!" A metal cladded Borgia Guard screamed, directing his men towards Ezio and Mario

"Mamma Mia. Looks like they spotted me" Mario moaned glancing over his shoulder

Ezio looked towards the guard springing into action "You know what to do. I'll guard the carriage from behind while you keep it moving. Just concentrate on the road!"

"On it" Mario slammed on the reins faster as the guards approached the back of the carriage, towards Ezio.

Why are there so many of them? Where did they come from? Ezio tried to keep calm, as he realised he vastly underestimated the Borgia.

Ezio glanced around at the carriage trying to find if there was any other weapon besides his inventory to defend himself with. That was when he spotted a machine gun, amongst some explosive barrels.

Ah, Bingo. Looks like not all of the machine guns were destroyed. This will come in useful. Hopefully I won't run out of bullets.

Ezio manned the gun, shooting and aiming at every guard. They all fell down instantly in a shower of lead.

Just when he eliminated one group, another came. He tried not to panic but he was getting overwhelmed. Mario could see as well.

Ezio tilted the gun to the left flank where the men were. He bulldozed all of them with the gun, lighting them up.

"This isn't working. We're going to have to blow them all up. And by that I mean we're going to have to detach the carriage" Ezio yelled to Mario over his shoulder

Mario turned around keeping one hand on the reins, while facing Ezio "What are you nuts?!"

"I am not. It's our only chance at making it back to Roma in one piece" Ezio said calmly

Before Mario could retort, any further, Ezio leaned down to the chain that was connecting the horse and the Carriage together.

"Ezio. Ezio!" Mario shouted trying to get some sense into the assassin

Ezio freed the chain that was holding the carriage together as he leapt onto the Second horse's rein holding it narrowly while his feet dangled over the edge.

Ezio jumped onto the horse as at the last second the carriage rolled towards the Guards behind them who screamed "Watch out!" but it was too late, they were hit by a Wooden Cart full of explosives and a Machine gun Head on.

A loud "BOOM!" was heard as what was once a wooden carriage box collided with the guards forever silencing them.

Mario turned around in horror at the scene as Ezio muttered "The world is better off without you"

Mario whipped his head forward to look back at the road as the two continued to ride back to Roma, horror and guilt filling his veins at what he just saw and did.

Author's Note: Poor Mario his job really does come with a lot of Shit, really especially when your a getaway driver for an assassin like Ezio. Poor guy is scarred for life. Meanwhile for Ezio it's just another day in the office. Some translations, "Merda" means Shit. If you played AC 2 and Brotherhood you should know this by now but if you don't I thought I would explain now. Decided to incorporate a little Italian in this fic. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed!

PS: I also think that the Borgia Uniforms the fact that they are red looks like Mario's overalls and the hat shape (hence this idea) I was thinking what if in an AU, Mario works for the Borgia which influenced this fic also along with the mission I played. Thanks for reading!
