DINO THUNDER: A Different Destiny
Prologue
Kimberly Hart chewed her lips nervously as she paced across the hotel room, her eyes nervously drifting to her phone. What's taking them so long to call her back?
Clearly, she was the best person for the job, she sighed irritably. She shouldn't be so dismissive of others, but she knew her strengths… She could bet that none of the other contenders had ever participated in the Pan Globals, let alone won any medal in an international tournament! Then, why again, was she in a far away city eagerly waiting for her manager to call her back? Right, because luck as always hadn't been on her side. A few months ago, her gymnastics center in Angel Grove had been totally destroyed due to an accidental fire. Thankfully, there wasn't anyone present there at the time but she lost all the money that she had invested on the place… Restoring it would cost a fortune, not to mention take the better part of a year. It was better to start afresh. And so here she was, in the city of Reefside, hoping for a moderately paying job as the gymnastics coach to get her footing back. The positions in both Angel Grove and Stone Canyon were filled and even though Reefside was still three hours' drive from the city, it was the closest to home she could get…
Finally, the phone rang and she hastily picked it up, making a note to herself to not sound too desperate.
"Miss Hart, I presume. This is Principal Randall speaking." Came the cold impersonal voice from the other side. "It's my pleasure to inform you that you are now a faculty of Reefside High."
Kim smiled. "Thank you."
"Though I am curious as to why someone with your resume would want to become a high school coach…" The principal said snidely.
"It is a temporary thing." She said hastily, though she didn't particularly like the tone, but she couldn't blame the principal for being curious.
Principal Randall laughed. "Good. While our school would appreciate your time here, I am glad to see not everyone from Angel Grove is negligent and unambitious."
"What do you mean?" Kim asked quickly.
"Our science teacher is from Angel Grove too. A brilliant scientist with two doctorates in palaeontology and biotechnology, yet he wastes his talent in here, teaching ungrateful whelps…"
Oh, this Randall character sure was different from Principal Caplan! Part of her wanted to snap back to her, but she needed this job.
"I guess you'll meet him soon enough. We expect to see you on next Monday."
With that, the principal hanged up and Kim made a face. That woman made it no secret that she despised children. How in the world did she ever manage to become a principal or a teacher even?
Though she was curious about the mysterious science teacher from Angel Grove. She wondered if she knew who it was… Who was she kidding? Angel Grove was a big place. Chances of her knowing whoever this guy was rare. She did hope that he had a better personality than Randall though.
I know that this is not exactly an original concept but I am going to put my own spin on things. I hope you guys liked this short prologue. More to come soon. Please review.
