Gemma was taking her evening walk. Every day since she met Jirachi, she wanted to visit the spot where they met every day, as a memory to hold onto.
They had a fun adventure they'd never forget, and she even got her wish granted in the end!
However, this time, it'd be different. Dreadfully different.
Gemma, upon reaching the spot, saw Jirachi. It wasn't asleep in it's crystal, and it was lying there, helpless and weak. However, the thing Gemma noticed almost made her cry.
"Jirachi? How- (Gasp)"
It's third eye was missing. It had lost it's ability to grant wishes. The line on it's stomach was gone, on top of the fact it was brutally beaten up. It's eyes recognized Gemma, and it slowly began to crawl towards her.
"J-Ji...Ra-" it whimpered, trying to reach her. Gemma ran through the shallow pond, picking up the weak pokemon, holding it in her arms. Jirachi clung onto her shirt. It's grip was strong. Gemma, in a panic, rushed back to her house with the weak mythical pokemon in her arms.
She sat down on her bed, still holding Jirachi. She knew Jirachi probably didn't want to leave her arms yet. It felt so weak and helpless.
"What... happened...?"
"J-ji..." it whimpered. Tears filled it's little eyes. Then, it curled up into a fetal-position like pose. It sobbed quietly.
"J-chi... chi..." it squeaked.
Gemma felt awful for it. She ran a hand down it's little back, running against it's spine and down the streamers on it's back.
Jirachi had spent it's entire life granting wishes. Now that it can't do that, all it wants was to be loved and comforted. It wanted to feel safe. It felt so helpless and weak.
"It's gonna be okay..." Gemma whispered. She kept repeating it. "It's gonna be okay..." Still, she wasn't fully confident it was. Jirachi looked like a starving child, wanting to be cared for and pampered.
Jirachi eventually began snoring softly in Gemma's arms. It's chest rose and fell, occasionally shaking. It was emotionally exhausted.
"D-don't worry... i'll take care of you, Jirachi..."
Gemma owed Jirachi for granting her wish and this was the least she could do in return. She had officially taken it into her care.
She laid it down on her bed. It was still crying gently. She grabbed her blanket and wrapped it up, until it was nice and bundled up. She moved Jirachi against her pillows, so it felt more comfortable.
"Chiiiii...?"
Gemma went to the fridge. She got a pudding from it. She walked past the Jirachi sculpture, back to the real Jirachi, who was still shivering, even while bundled up.
"Okay, Jirachi. I want you to eat this."
Jirachi looked at the pudding, still teary-eyed. He observed it.
"Chi?"
"Open your mouth for me, okay?"
It then opened its mouth. It was still incredibly nervous, which was only natural given that it had just lost its powers and now it could only plead for help. The spoon entered its mouth and it began eating it, like a mother feeding her baby with the old "here comes the airplane" trick.
It gulped as the pudding was digested glowly.
"Mmm... ji... rachi..."
Jirachi felt satisfied. It let out a small burp, given it was only a foot tall and weighed just over 2 pounds, meaning its stomach was unsurprisingly small.
Gemma looked outside. Night had already fallen, and she would have been asleep if she didn't find Jirachi.
She got in bed next to it, but then it did something she didn't expect. It crawled towards her, using its stubby arms to move itself.
"Do you... want to sleep with me...?"
"Chiii! Chiii!" It cried, asking to be lifted into her loving arms.
"Okay... i'll let you sleep right here..."
Gemma lifted Jirachi, and placed it beside her. It was still bundled up in the soft and cozy blankets she wrapped it in. Slowly relaxing, it nodded off to sleep, it's little hands poking out of the blanket to grab onto Gemma. It didn't want to be alone. It felt scared and helpless.
"Poor thing..." she whispered.
