SUNSHINE ON A CLOUDY DAY
Gilligan was teaching Kahla'kekoa how to catch butterflies in a net. They were both equally fast with the net but the butterflies were somehow faster. Eventually they caught sight of a few Monarchs resting on top of a small crocodile's head. Kahla'kekoa looked up at Gilligan who just shook his head. He bent down and managed to find a couple of butterflies that had recently passed on the ground and put one in each of their nets.
"HELP HELP SHARK SHARK HELP HELP!" Came Mary Ann's voice from the lagoon.
In the blink of an eye Gilligan leaped over the rock and jumped into the lagoon. With the greatest of ease Kahla'kekoa jumped over the rock as well and ran along the palm tree that grew out over the water. She stopped at the dip in the tree where Mary Ann's towel was just in time to take hold of her hand. She clumsily climbed up onto the tree and sat down.
"Gilligan quick get out of there!" Mary Ann exclaimed and Kahla'kekoa grabbed Gilligan's hand.
"It's okay Mary Ann!" Gilligan replied leaning to look around Kahla'kekoa. Mary Ann had her eyes closed and breathing heavily.
"Shark no fish flat!" Kahla'kekoa tried to say. She wasn't sure what she was looking at.
Mary Ann took a deep breath and opened her eyes. In the water there were two of the biggest fish she'd ever seen. They both had big grey dorsal fins that looked like shark fins.
As they watched the fish stopped swimming and floated onto their sides. They both had fins on their backs and stomachs with a tail fin in between. One was silvery-grey and one was all white. They were 10 feet wide and flat and oval shaped. They had big eyes and tiny mouths.
"I've seen them before! It's Sunshine and Mr. Clouds! It's okay they're harmless!" Gilligan replied as a thought occurred to Mary Ann.
"Oh no are they dying!" Mary Ann replied leaning to look around Kahla'kekoa.
"No just catching some sun before they go for a dive!" Gilligan replied. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine but I think I'm done swimming for the day!" Mary Ann sighed.
"GILLIGAN MARY ANN! IS EVERYTHING OKAY?" Skipper called from the shore.
"WE'RE FINE IT WAS JUST SUNSHINE AND MR. CLOUDS!" Gilligan exclaimed as Kahla'kekoa squeezed him on his shoulder. "What's wrong?
"Thought saw bush something!" She replied pointing to something on the other side of the lagoon.
Gilligan helped Mary Ann step over Kahla'kekoa and looked over to where she was pointing. At that moment they felt a gush of wind. Kahla'kekoa shook her head.
"No windy!" Kahla'kekoa replied as she followed Gilligan and Mary Ann off the tree.
In the bush a couple of hands appear and parts the brush to reveal a headhunter watching them go.
A.N. Butterflies love sweet and sour things. Besides nectar they're attracted to over ripe or rotting fruit, manure, and anything decaying.
Butterflies have been known to drink the tears of crocodiles and turtles.
The Ocean Sunfish or Mola Mola is known as the world's largest bony fish. They are flat and oval shaped. They can weigh up to 5,000 pounds. Since they swim near the surface so much they are often mistaken for sharks. They are native to all of the tropical waters of the world. They are fast moving and can leap very high out of the water. They like to float on the surface on their side to sort of charge themselves before they go on a deep dive to feed.
