Author's Note: I've always pictured Devon's room in her family's house as looking like a larger version of the one the main characters share in Drake & Josh, without the second bed. Devon's bed would be on that raised platform thing where Drake's is because she's extra like that.

Elena took a few shaky steps to close the distance between herself and the mirror. For a quick millisecond, she questioned whether or not she was actually looking at her daughter, but there was no mistaking Devon's brown eyes; they were so much like Angelo's, after all. There were so many things she wanted to say, but she couldn't get the words out. Fortunately for her, Devon's uncharacteristically quiet little "Hi, Mama" was just the push she needed. She let out a choked sob before putting her hand up against the mirror, her tears falling freely as Devon copied the motion from her side. The glass held fast, preventing them from actually reaching each other, but the gesture was still comforting.

"Devon…? Is that really you?" Elena asked haltingly as if Devon would vanish as soon as the words were spoken.

To her relief, Devon managed a tearful smile and a nod. "It's me, Mama."

"I can't tell you what a relief it is to see you again, mija. Your brothers have been giving your father and me updates, but it's not the same as actually getting to speak to you," Elena said. She smiled and motioned toward Devon's hair. "You look great, sweetie. I love what you've done with your hair."

"Thanks," Devon replied. "It's great to see you too, Mama. I've missed you and Papa so much. How have you guys been?"

"As well as can be expected, I think. I'm sure we'll be doing much better now that we can use these Sending Stones to talk to you directly," Elena answered. "We were getting a little worried, though. Mala told us that Lilia hadn't been able to reach you at your dorm and then your brothers mentioned something about trouble in a different dorm… Something about a scarab, I think?"

Devon rubbed the back of her head. "Yeah, that's kind of a long story."

"Well, when your father gets home," Elena checked the clock on Devon's desk, "which should be any minute now, we'd like to hear everything from the beginning. Not that we don't trust what DJ and Dom have told us, but we want to hear it straight from the source." She glanced around as if noticing Devon's dorm room for the first time. "Hang on. Shouldn't there be a talking cat with you?"

Devon laughed. "Grim's here, Mama. He and Ace are just sleeping off our holiday dinner from the headmaster in the lounge downstairs."

Elena quirked a brow. "Ace is there with you? Didn't he want to spend the holidays with his family?"

"He did go home, actually. It's a funny story, really-"

The sound of footsteps coming up the stairs to Devon's room could be heard and a moment later, Angelo's voice rang out. "Elena? Are you up here?"

"Si, mi amor, I'm here," Elena called back, shooting a playful wink at Devon and quickly putting her finger to her lips. "Perfect timing; I think there's something here you need to see."

She watched as her husband walked into the room, only to stop short when he saw her tear-stained face. "What's wrong? Are you alright?" Angelo asked as he quickly made his way to his wife.

Elena nodded before wordlessly pointing at the mirror. Angelo looked at it for a moment before turning back to shoot Elena a confused look, only to register that it was Devon on the other side. His eyes widened and he whipped his head back around to face his daughter, instantly on the verge of tears as well. "D-Dev?"

Devon nodded, smiling through her tears.

"I can't tell you what a relief it is to see you, my sweet, precious girl!" Angelo told her. After taking a moment to compose himself, he finally managed an amused smile. "Guess now we know for sure that Mala's gift works. When she told us they'd help make the separation easier, I didn't think she meant video calls via mirror, but I'll take what I can get."

Devon couldn't help but laugh again. Count on her dad to come in with a joke.

"I hate to bombard you with questions right out the gate, but is everything okay over there?" Angelo continued. "Your brothers said something about another "blot" thing. One that had you trapped in an hourglass, as I understand it?"

"Yeah… The short version of that is that I'm okay, we were able to bring the guy that fell into Overblot back to himself through a lovely combination of my blessing and beating the tar out of him, and everyone walked away from the fight. But if I know the two of you, I know that's not what you're after so… Mama asked me to fill you guys from the beginning once you got home, Papa. Fair warning: this is gonna take a while."

Devon proceeded to explain everything that had happened since she'd left the house that fateful day. She made sure to be thorough, telling her parents about both the good and the bad. In addition to not knowing exactly what her brothers had already told them, she knew it would just cause problems later if she omitted something her parents felt they should know about. They both made for a great audience, arguably even better than DJ and Dominic. From Elena's outrage at Crowley's negligence and willingness to leave problems on campus to his students to solve to Angelo's amusement at the entire Ghost Bride predicament and his incredulous, "What?!" when Devon told them about how they'd uncovered Jamil's plan to undermine Kalim, her parents kept up with the story's twists and turns much better than she thought they would. However, there was one point in particular that stuck out to Elena.

"So you're telling me that Ace and Deuce took public transport all the way back to your campus, which is located on an extremely remote and hard to get to island, with no magical assistance whatsoever…just to make sure you and Grim were safe?" she recapped.

Devon nodded. "Pretty much, yeah. Deuce wanted to get back home to his mother so he isn't here now, but Ace decided to stick around until tomorrow morning." Her lips quirked upward in a small fond smile. "He's a much bigger softie than he'll ever admit."

As if on cue, footsteps could be heard climbing the stairs. "Yo, New York, you up here?" Ace called out, his voice slightly raspy. He must have just woken up.

"Yep. I'm in my room," Devon called back. She turned back to her parents with a smile. "I was a little worried he'd sleep through this entire conversation, but it looks like you'll get to meet him after all."

Ace's footsteps drew closer and he walked into Devon's room with Grim perched on his shoulder. "Whatcha doin' up here, henchman?" Grim asked.

"Probably tryin' to get some peace and quiet," Ace snarked. "Your snoring could wake the dead." He turned to Devon with a smirk, about to ask if she agreed, only to freeze when he caught sight of the mirror. He knew exactly who the two people on the other side were thanks to pictures Devon had showed him and he couldn't help but get a sense of déjà vu. "Uhhh…" He and Grim exchanged a look. "Do you need us to go?"

"Nope. Get your butts in here so I can introduce you to my parents," Devon said as she waved them in. Once they got close enough for Grim to relocate to Devon's shoulder, she turned her attention back to her parents. "Mama, Papa, this Ace Trappola and Grim, two of the first friends I made after arriving here," She smirked playfully, "right after Deuce."

Grim and Ace both made sounds of indignation at Devon's last comment. "What the heck, New York?! You met Deuce after you met us!"

"Yeah! And I was with you right from the start!" Grim added.

"Right," Devon agreed, the smirk still on her lips, "and our first interaction was you trying to roast me alive, Grim. And…oh man, what was it you called me the day we met, Ace? A "magicless little nobody"?"

"I- Ah… Erm…," Ace stammered, glancing nervously at Elena and Angelo. He knew they couldn't reach him from the other side of the mirror (if they could pass into Twisted Wonderland to get to Devon, they would have by now), but he'd heard enough stories from Devon to know about Elena's mama bear tendencies. Besides, he only got one chance to make a first impression and he wanted it to be a good one. These were two of the most important people in Devon's life, after all.

To his confusion and relief, Angelo immediately began laughing upon seeing how nervous Ace looked and Elena gave him an amused smile. "There's no need to look so nervous, you know," Angelo assured him. "Devon's already told us the whole story. I'd say you've definitely made up for any initial unpleasantness, especially considering you came back to school over your break to make sure she was safe."

"If you ask me, I'd say he made up for it when he punched his dorm leader in the face for insulting Devon," Elena chimed in.

"You told them about that?" Ace groaned to Devon as he buried his face in his hands.

Devon shrugged. "Of course I did. They wanted to know everything and it's not like I was upset by Riddle's comment. Or yours, for that matter. Besides," Her expression softened as she reached out to gently pull his hands from his face to look him in the eye, "it meant a lot to me that you did it."

Ace sighed, but he let Devon pull his hands away. "Yeah, well, pickin' on you is my job. And I don't like it when other people try to do my job. And it's not like you haven't come in clutch to help us, too. We'd probably still be anemones if it weren't for you."

"Yeah!" Grim agreed. "I'm gonna be the greatest mage the world has ever seen, so I couldn't have one of those things crampin' my style!"

Ace rolled his eyes playfully. "Sure Grim, whatever you say." He smiled at Devon's parents. "It's nice to finally meet you guys. New York here talks about you both all the time."

"And don't worry too much, 'cause I've taken it upon myself to look after her!" Grim added. "That's why they call me Grim the Magnanimous!"

"Literally no one calls you that, Grim," Ace pointed out. He finally noticed the Sending Stone glowing on top of the fireplace. "Welp, I guess that explains what was in that big bundle that Lilia gave you, Dev. Is it from who I think it's from?"

Devon nodded. "Yep. He kept his word and got in touch with Mala for me."

"And…is she going to be able to get you home?" Ace asked hesitantly.

"No… Turns out the way she moves between worlds is too dangerous for humans, so I still don't have a way to get home," Devon explained, opting not to bring up the truth of Mala's identity just yet. "The interdimensional video calls are pretty great, though. At least this way I can see and talk to everyone."

"I couldn't agree more, but that's not the only thing these Sending Stones can do," Angelo said. "Mala actually enchanted this pair herself so that- You know, it might be easier just to show you."

Devon exchanged a look with Grim and Ace. "What do you mean?"

"Is there anything from your room that you've missing since you were brought to Twisted Wonderland?" Elena asked. "Anything you wish you could have there with you?"

"Heh. Where do I start?" Devon quipped before pausing for a moment to think. "I guess…if I had to narrow it down to one thing, it would be my leather jacket. Y'know, the one Tio Diego got me. I've got clothes here too, of course, and we wear uniforms for most of the day anyway but…"

"But it's nice to have stuff you're familiar with too, right?" Ace finished for her.

"Mmhmm," Devon hummed in response.

"Say no more," Elena replied, walking out of view of the mirror toward Devon's closet and returning a moment later with the jacket in question. "Now, if this enchantment works the way Mala said it would…"

Devon watched, confused, as her mother pushed her jacket toward the mirror. Instead of the jacket pressing against the glass as would be expected, the reflection began to ripple and after a moment the jacket passed clean through to her side of the mirror. Devon, Ace, and Grim could only gape as the jacket began to fall once Elena could no longer keep a grip on it and Devon fumbled to grab it before it could hit the ground. She stared at the jacket for a long moment and slid it on as if to make sure it was actually hers and not some kind of trick. Unsurprisingly, it fit perfectly and she reached into the pocket and pulled out the canister of pepper spray she always kept there. "Yep. This is definitely mine."

"Dang, Dev. I know you said New York ain't exactly the safest place in your world, but I didn't think it was that bad," Ace commented as he nodded toward the pepper spray.

Devon shrugged. "It's really not that bad so long as people can tell you're a local; the tourists are the easy marks. I just keep the spray on me as a precaution. Better safe than sorry, y'know." She turned to look back at her parents. "Sooo…please tell me that wasn't just a one-time thing."

Elena shook her head with a smile. "Not at all. Mala might not be able to send you back to us, but she wanted us to have a way to get things to you if you need them." Her expression soured for a moment. "After what I've heard about that headmaster of yours, I don't trust him to actually look out for you one little bit."

"Does that mean we can pass anything through the mirror now as long as the Sending Stones are connected?" Devon asked.

"Just about. Mala's only limit was that living beings can't pass through to either side," Angelo replied. "Anything else if fair game, though."

"Alright," Elena said, clapping her hands together, "now that we know for sure that it works, what do you need, Devon?"

Devon blinked. "Umm…"

"We know the headmaster gives you some money to use for food, but I have to agree with your mother that I'd rather not leave your well-being entirely up to him," Angelo pressed. "Even if it's just stuff you'd like from around the house or food you can't get in Twisted Wonderland, we'll get it for you."

"In that case, I'll take all the gourmet tuna you can find!" Grim chimed in. "I wanna see if it stacks up to this world's tuna!"

Devon rolled her eyes playfully but took a moment to think about her parents' request. They'd always encouraged her and her brothers to take steps toward their independence (which was how she managed to be at reasonably self-sufficient so far), but none of them had anticipated that she would be thrown into a situation where she had to more or less fend for herself. It was clear that they still wanted to take care of her at least a little bit and frankly, while she loved flexing her independence from time to time, she'd missed having someone take care of her without expecting something from her in return. There had been plenty of things that she missed about her world and her home that didn't have a means to access until now and with the school store closed until the new term started, she didn't have a way to stock up anyway. Kalim had told her that she and Grim were always welcome in Scarabia, but she didn't want to mooch off of them for the remainder of the break. …It certainly wasn't because she was trying avoid Jamil or anything. Nope, not at all!

"Actually…there are some things I wouldn't mind having here."

The next couple of hours were spent with Devon making a list of things she'd like to have from home with Ace and Grim's help and her parents gathering up what they could to pass them through the mirror to her. She also passed them a list of food she'd like that she wasn't able to find in Twisted Wonderland-her favorite sodas and snacks she'd been wanting her friends to try as well as a request for some of her uncle's cooking-which confirmed that Mala's enchantment did work both ways, though actually getting the food would have to wait until they went to the store the following day.

Not long after Angelo and Elena began gathering up things from Devon's room, an inquisitive "Meow?" could be heard. Apparently, Ghost wasn't too keen on the two of them moving Devon's things around. Elena informed Devon that Ghost had been in a fouler mood than usual since she'd disappeared, prompting Devon to call out to her fluffy feline friend. The white cat rushed toward the sound of Devon's voice, trilling happily and butting her head against the mirror affectionately…until she caught sight of Grim. Her hackles raised immediately and she kept her eyes locked on the little grey monster as her tail swished irritably.

"Yeesh. What's her problem?" Grim asked, eying Ghost warily despite knowing she couldn't reach him through the mirror.

"Don't take it personally," Elena replied. "Ghost has always been territorial when it comes to Devon. It's been like that ever since we brought her home. She just decided that Dev was her person and that the end of it."

"Yeah, well she's got good taste in henchmen, I'll give her that," Grim conceded as he narrowed his eyes at Ghost. "Too bad Dev's my henchman now. Every great mage needs an underling, after all!"

Ghost growled low in her throat in response, prompting Devon to put her hand on the glass again in an attempt to calm her down. It seemed to do the trick as Ghost obligingly placed her paw against the glass as well, the aggression leaving her posture. She shot Grim one final glare before hopping off the dresser to padding over to the nearby cat tree and curling up to sleep.

In no time at all, Devon and Grim's dorm room was filled with storage tubs of things from the Lopez home, some Devon had requested and some her parents insisted she have. Regina opted to helpfully move certain things into the rooms Devon needed them, but actually unpacking them and putting everything away could wait until later. Dominic and DJ had both come home by this point as well and they were elated to see and talk to their sister outside of using Dom's blessing. Dominic also insisted on loaning Devon a few of his gaming consoles and some manga he asked her to pass along to Idia once everyone came back to school.

As Devon had expected, Ace won over her family more or less instantly. Her parents had expressed their approval earlier and he and DJ had enough in common that they clicked right off the bat, but she was surprised to see that even Dominic didn't seem to have any trouble talking with him as if they'd known each other their whole lives. She supposed he'd seen enough of both Ace and Grim through Devon's eyes (not to mention having spoken to both of them and Deuce the first time the Ramshackle mirror connected to the one in Devon's New York bedroom) that the new person intimidation factor had worn off, but it was still rather impressive. Ace was more than happy to answer the brothers' question about dorm life-both of them were beginning college applications of their own, after all, and Devon didn't exactly have a traditional dorm situation due to her special circumstances.

"Ugh, they actually cram four people into one room?" Dominic asked after Ace explained his current dorm situation. "And I thought having to share a room with one stranger was bad…"

"Yeah, it's definitely crowded and you can kiss your privacy goodbye," Ace agreed, "but at least it's never boring. Only the freshmen have four guys to a room, though. Next year, I'll only have one roommate and then I'll have a room to myself for my junior year. As much as I'd love havin' my own room, the only way to get one as a freshman or sophomore is to become a dorm leader or vice dorm leader and there ain't no way I could beat out Riddle or Trey for their spots." He nudged Devon gently. "Lucky for me, I've got an in with the leader of the emptiest dorm in the school, so I've got a place to crash if I need a break."

Devon smiled and nudged him back. "You'd better hope there aren't any students next year who get placed in Ramshackle. I'd hate for you to have to give up that room you decided was yours."

The banter and conversation continued for a while longer before both sides decided to call it a night. Angelo and DJ's eyes were visibly misty as they said their goodbyes with the promise that they'd be in touch with Devon the next day. Elena also made sure to let her know that they would be letting Tio Diego as well as Valentina and Monique know about this new development, so she'd likely be hearing from them very soon as well.

"I can't tell you good it's been to talk to you again, mi preciosa," Elena said. "It's such a relief to know we have a way to see you now and make sure you have everything you need there. I'll have to write to Mala after this to let her know the spell worked." She turned her attention to Grim and Ace. "It was nice to finally meet you both. Ace, we probably won't see you before you head back home, so enjoy the rest of your break. And thank you for making the trip back there to help Devon out."

Ace rubbed the back of his head as he looked away bashfully. "'S'not a big deal. I mean, it's not like Dev really needed me."

"It's a big deal to us," Angelo countered. "All of us have been worried sick about Devon since she was taken, but we can rest a little easier knowing she's got friends like you there with her."

Devon laughed as she pulled Ace into a hug. "You've got Mama and Papa's approval now! I know my brothers already liked you, so you're stuck with me, bud!"

Ace rolled his eyes playfully but hugged Devon back just the same, hoping his pink cheeks weren't too obvious. "Heh. Just my luck, huh?"

After another promise that they'd speak again tomorrow (and a reassurance that Grim would get his dang tuna cans), the Sending Stone's glow began to fade, causing the image in the mirror to disappear. Devon sighed before sinking down onto one of the larger storage tubs and covering her face with her hands.

"You doin' okay, New York?" Ace asked as he sat down next to her with a concerned look on his face.

"Oh yeah. I'm more than okay," Devon replied, lowering her hands to reveal the happy tears that filled her eyes. "I'm just a little overwhelmed, is all. I had absolutely no idea that was coming. It's starting to sink in that I can really see my family whenever I want to. It's just…I can't remember the last time I felt this relieved."

Ace smiled as he wrapped an arm around Devon's shoulders. "Hey, if anyone deserves some good news, it's you. Personally, I'm more impressed with the fact that you guys can pass things between your worlds now. Speaking of which," He tapped the bin they were sitting on, "I distinctly recall your movie collection being one of the things handed over. I also recall you promising all the way back at Halloween that you'd show me some of your world's classic horror movies if you ever got the chance."

"I remember," Devon replied.

"Weeeellll… It seems like you've got a chance right now, don't ya?" Ace pressed.

Devon smirked. "Ya know, you could try being even less subtle." She stood and motioned for him to get off the bin. "Alright, fine. Move your butt and let's see if I've got anything you think you might like."

Ortho blinked as his system notified him of a text. He read it over before getting Idia's attention, a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. "Hey big brother, I just got a text from Devon Lopez. She says Dom left some manga with her that he wanted to loan to you."

"Okay, cool," Idia replied, not looking up from what he was working on. "Would you care to grab them for me once we get back to-" His eyes widened as Ortho's words sunk in. "Wait, how is that possible?! Since when can they move stuff between worlds?!"

He listened with rapt attention as Ortho explained the situation according to Devon's text. He'd already spoken to Dominic since Mala's visit and knew that the Lopez family was now aware of her true identity, but Dom hadn't been terribly forthcoming about the details beyond the fact that she was fae. His hesitancy made Idia even more curious, but he respected Dom's boundaries and didn't press for more information.

"This doesn't throw a wrench into your plans for that adapter you've been working on, does it?" Ortho asked. "I mean, if they can use those stones Mala left them to talk to each other now…"

Idia shook his head. "Not at all. The Sending Stones can only connect those two mirrors; it's not like they can use 'em wherever they want." He held up a small device not unlike a PopSocket. "It took me a while to condense the adapter into something this size, but so long as it's attached to a person's phone, they shouldn't have any issue making or receiving calls from pretty much anywhere-even across worlds." His eyes lit up with an idea. "And if Devon is able to pass stuff from this world to hers…" He smiled and picked up his phone, attaching his adapter to the back of it as the tips of his hair turned a light pink. "Seems I've got some more work to do. This calls for a chat with my human pick-me-up."

Later that night, Devon woke to the sound of Grim's sleeptalking.

"Mmhn… Got dibs on that turkey…," the little monster mumbled. He'd insisted he was fine during the movies, but given that he'd opted to sleep under the bed that night, it seemed he was more scared than he let on.

Devon huffed out a laugh before snuggling back against Ace. She was nearly back to sleep when a bright light began to shine into the room. Devon buried her face in Ace's chest in an attempt to block out the light, but she had to give up when it didn't fade. She reluctantly sat up, her annoyed look turning into a more perplexed one when she saw that the mirror was glowing. Ace and Grim snoozed on, apparently unbothered by the light despite how bright it was, meaning it was up to her to investigate.

She moved carefully out of Ace's arms without waking him and swung her legs over the side of the bed. She winced when she accidentally stepped on Grim's protruding tail as she stood up, but aside from a pained grunt he didn't show any further signs of stirring. Once she got close enough, she saw a familiar foggy void reflected back at her. A hand reached out to knock on the glass and the big-eared shadow of a familiar cartoon mouse became visible a moment later.

"There it is again," Devon muttered.

"Is someone there?" the shadow asked. "Who are you?"

'Yep. I'd know that voice anywhere. Either that's Mickey Mouse or someone's doing one hell of a good impression,' Devon thought before answering the shadow's question. "My name's Devon."

"Devon?" the shadow repeated as if testing out the name before putting its hands on its hips and nodding as if in approval. "That's a nice name. It's unusual, but it's got such a beautiful ring to it!"

"And you are?" Devon asked, despite already knowing the answer.

"My name's Mickey. Mickey Mouse," the shadow replied.

'Called it,' Devon thought with a smirk.

"Am I dreaming again?" Mickey continued. "I think this makes three times now that I've had this dream. The living cards and dancing music box are always the same, but your voice gets clearer and clearer each time. It makes me that that you might not be a dream, after all. Where are you, anyway?"

"I'm in…" Devon paused for a moment, wondering if she should really be telling whatever was beyond the mirror where she was. After all, without seeing him in full, she couldn't be entirely sure if she really was talking to Mickey Mouse. She shook her head at her own paranoia. There was no way the figure beyond the looking glass could be anyone but Mickey and even if he wasn't as friendly as he appeared, she highly doubted he'd be able to pull off something even Mala was unable to do. "I'm in Twisted Wonderland."

Ending Notes: I can't believe we made it to 100 chapters, y'all! This is easily the longest story I've ever worked on and I can't thank you all enough for all the support you've shown me!

So now Devon can bring pieces of her world into Twisted Wonderland and vice versa. She can see her family on a regular basis now too! I'm really excited for Mama and Papa Lopez to make more appearances, as well as Valentina and Tio Diego. Valentina and Devon's relationship is going to get more focus in the Pomefiore arc. I really do think she and Vil would get along after they stop trying to out-diva each other.

Grim and Ghost probably won't be getting along too well. Ghost is a very selective and territorial kitty and if the event that just wrapped up on the Japanese server told us anything, it's that Grim doesn't like Yuu/MC paying too much attention to other cute fluffy animals.

The next chapter is going to focus on Jamil and Devon making amends. He knows a regular apology isn't going to be enough, so he's going to have to do something special for her.

Thanks again for reading, you guys! I appreciate your support more than I can put into words. As always, feedback and constructive criticism are welcome. Geekinthepink, out!
