Carol watched in stunned silence as the little creature or baby turtle continued to cry. She couldn't help but feel her maternal instincts telling her to pick up the little baby turtle in her arms and comfort it but her confusion and shock over the fact that the creature was emitting sounds of an infant made her hesitate.

"Why... Why does it sound like a crying baby?" She muttered in shock.

She turned when she heard a soft groan and looked to see the rat man waking up. The crying must've woke him up but what shocked her was the three little green heads poking out from the sling bag he was carrying. She quickly recognized that the three were also babies and that they were different species.

One of them was spikier than the other three which made her deduce that the bigger one was an alligator snapping turtle.

"Peep?" (What's wrong?) The bigger one uttered.

The second one with the bigger little one was smaller than the rest but she was quick to recognize the pattern and that it was a little ornate box turtle.

"Peep." (Purple?) It peeped out rather sleepily.

The third one was still in the bag and seemed to be the same size as the one crying and based on the markings, it was a red eared slider turtle.

"Peep!" (Hey, what's wrong?) It peeped out as well.

The one that was crying seemed to be odd as it had spiny spikes on the shell and there was only one turtle with those spines and it was a spiny soft shell turtle.

"Peep peep!" (P-Papa, I-I'm scared!) The first one whimpered in distress.

Yoshi came back from his slight knock out when his ears picked on the crying of Purple. His instincts woke him up fully as Red peeped in confusion on what was going on with Orange peeping curiously as he woke up from his nap and Blue was waking up as he let out a peep in concern.

He sat up slightly and put a hand around Purple who quickly held on his hand and nuzzled it for comfort as he let out distressed peeps.

"Shh. Papa is okay, Purple." He softly reassured him as he wiped the tears from his face before his eyes looked towards the woman.

Now realizing that the rat man was actually a caretaker of the little turtle, she couldn't help but feel guilty.

"I'm so sorry. I got so spooked and kind of just reacted." She apologized as the rat man slowly sat up with the little red eared slider peeping curiously.

"It's okay. I understand." He said understandingly as he held Purple close.

"Peep?" (You okay, brother?) The slider peeped curiously.

Carol was hesitant to ask but it's bugging her since the little soft shell was holding on to the rat man's hand for comfort.

"Are they... Are they your children?" She asked in confusion.

The rat man was quiet for a moment as he looked at how the little one in his hand was nuzzling his hand for comfort before he nodded.

"Yes."

That was enough for Carol's heart to ache as tears welled up in her eyes. Just seeing another parent caring for his children made her think of her little daughter and what she would do if she were in his shoes.

Wiping her tears away, Carol grew determined. It was her fault for hitting the guy so the least she can do is help him and his children.

She started to stand up before offering a hand to the confused man. Yes, she'll call him that since it sounded rude to call him a rat man.

"I owe you. Come on, you and your kids can rest in my apartment." She offered as he looked shocked and surprised by the offer.

"Oh! Uh... I'm not sure." He said hesitantly as Carol helped him up.

"I won't take 'no' for an answer." She said as she helped him up to his feet.

Pondering the offer, Yoshi knows that he and his kids need a place to rest for the night and this nice lady was offering. Sighing quietly, he accepted.

"Okay."

Carol helped him up and started to lead him back to the apartment.

On the way, she couldn't help but ask since she can't keep calling him mister or rat man and wondered if he has a name.

"What's your name?" She asked him curiously.

"Splinter." He replied in a japanese accent.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Splinter. I'm Carol." She replied while introducing herself.

Splinter felt a small smile of gratitude tug on his lips. This was the nicest thing any human could offer for the first time in, well, he lost the count after escaping the Hidden City laboratory.

"Thank you, Carol."
