By the time it was late afternoon, it was time for everyone to go home. They were getting their shoes from the shoe lockers by the school building entrance to go home. Haru got hers but with a sigh of dismay.
"It's not fair..." She muttered as she walked to Serene and Hiromi who were waiting for her.
"First you have a bad morning, and then everyone laughs at you in class, Haru." Serene said as they started walking home.
"Even Machida was laughing, wasn't he?" Haru pouted as Hiromi just snickered.
"Yeah, pretty hard." She grinned innocently as Serene gave Hiromi a look.
"You're not helping, Hiromi." Serene said while shaking her head.
"Why me?" That question took the two by surprise as they looked at Haru who was looking at her feet in frustration.
"Why are all these bad things happening to me?" Haru asked again.
"Hm, maybe it's some kind of weird omen, Haru. Like your life is gonna get a whole lot worse real soon." Hiromi said as she walked off.
The Yoshioka siblings stared at her in annoyance before following her.
"Thanks. That helps a lot." Haru deadpans.
"Oh yeah." Hiromi said as she turned to Serene.
"Serene, did any of your memories come back to you?" Hiromi asked as Serene shook her head.
"Not quite. I've been getting vivid visions here and there but they're so blurry. I once had this dream about someone in a fancy suit." Serene said as Haru walked up beside her.
"Maybe you'll find your missing memories one of these days, Nee-chan. I just know it." Haru said positively as Serene smiled at her thankfully. She left one important detail about her dream she had last night. The person she dreamt had these mesmerizing emerald green eyes.
Somewhere in the city, a shop was selling handmade cookies. A cat suddenly came out of the shop left with a box in its mouth. An old lady looked up and saw the dark furred feline walking away.
"That's odd. Never seen him." She said as the cat went on its way.
The cat with a gold collar around its neck was heading in the direction the three friends are in as they were walking in it's direction and they were talking about Haru's crush who was Machida.
"Tell me, why are you worried about what Machida thinks, anyway, Haru?" Serene questions as Haru pouted.
"I just think he's so darn cool." She simply said as Hiromi looked at her.
"You should tell him that." She asked as Haru's hand dropped.
"What if he has a girlfriend? I'd look like a jerk." Haru said.
Serene happened to look at Hiromi and saw that she was about to say something and decided to stay out of Haru's annoyance.
"He does have a girlfriend. A freshman. Really cute~" Hiromi answered slyly and Haru felt her heart crushed into millions of pieces when she heard that.
"Then why are you telling me to flirt with him?!" Haru said in annoyance and anger as she chased around after Hiromi who made sure to keep her distance with a snicker.
"Cause I want to have a good laugh when he blows you off!" Hiromi laughed as Haru snatched her stick from her friend to use it to hit her.
"You are terrible!" Haru yelled at her in annoyance.
Serene just shook her head in amusement before she noticed something furry walking down towards them and noticed that it was a cat with mismatched eyes with a box.
"Machida's not that cool anyway. My Tsuge is much cooler and..." Hiromi trailed off as she looked down and noticed the cat as well.
"Tsuge again? Can't you..." Haru trailed off as well when she looked to where her sister and friend were looking and noticed the cat walked by them.
They watched it stop and looked around which they noticed. The trio watched it curiously and were confused by the box that it had.
"What in the heck was that?" Hiromi asked in a hush tone.
"Cat burglar." Haru suggested as Hiromi shrugged.
"Who knows." Hiromi said.
They watched the cat heading towards the street. It stopped and looked both ways like a human for any vehicles that might be driving. It saw the light was red and that there were no vehicles driving before crossing the street.
"Where does he think he's going?" Hiromi wondered before shouting towards it.
"Hey, dumb cat! You'll get killed!" She warned it loudly but the cat seemed to not have heard her as it just went on its way.
The traffic lights changed colors and the vehicles all started to head down the road. As if she didn't care, Hiromi turned to walk away.
"Oh well, it's just a cat, you two." Hiromi said but the two girls didn't budge.
Haru looked like she was up to something while Serene was worried about the cat.
"This doesn't look so good." Haru suddenly said.
That caused Hiromi to stop and look back. A truck was heading towards the cat as the cat suddenly dropped the box. It picked up the box again but dropped it once again. It started to have trouble picking up the box and not knowing the danger it was in.
"Ah! What is he doing?!" Hiromi exclaimed in shock.
Haru, without thinking, dropped her book bag and sprinted towards the cat much to Hiromi's and Serene's shock.
"Wait, Haru, don't!" Hiromi cried out in shock.
"Haru, what are you doing?!" Serene cried out in fear for her sister.
The truck driver was using his phone but gasped in shock when he saw the cat. He tried to swerve on time to avoid it. Everything went in slow motion as Haru used the net stick to scooped the cat up who finally picked up the box and moved out of the way of the truck.
"No way. What a catch!" Hiromi was amazed that Haru was able to save the cat on time but Serene couldn't help but worry for her.
Haru ran to the next street but the stick she was carrying suddenly hit a post and it snapped in half and sent the cat flying. Haru gasped in shock and fell down on her knees. Serene quickly ran across the street with her sister's book bag as the truck drove away.
"Hey, you stupid jerk!" Hiromi can be heard shouting.
Serene finally crossed the street and kneeled down to check if Haru was okay.
"Haru, are you okay?" Serene asked in worry as Haru was panting.
"I... I'm fine, sis..." Haru continued to pant heavily.
"Just what on earth were you thinking?! You could have gotten killed!" Serene exclaimed in worry as Haru started to catch her breath and gave her a reassuring smile.
"Sis, I'm fine. Nothing broken." Haru reassured her before turning to the cat.
"Oh, cat, that was close." Haru said but gasped silently.
Serene noticed that and looked to where the cat was and gasped silently in shock as their eyes widened. Not only was the cat fine but it was also standing on two legs like a person and dusting itself. They just watched in shock until the cat noticed them.
It turned to them and suddenly spoke which surprised and shocked the two and it was speaking in male voice.
"That was quite a brave act you performed on my account. I am extremely grateful." He thanked Haru as he bowed his head in gratitude before looking at Haru in concern.
"I hope that you have not injured yourself." He said as Haru was struggling to speak.
A talking cat?! What the heck?! He noticed Serene and was a little wary but sensed that she meant no harm as it looked around and turned back to Haru.
"Well, then, I don't mean to be rude but I'm in a quite a hurry." He said before bowing one last time.
"I'll return later to thank you properly." He said as Haru finally got over her shock.
"Uh, that's okay." She replied with a bow.
Haru looked up and saw that the cat was on all fours like a normal cat with the box in his mouth. Serene watched the male cat in shock as it stopped for a moment. He turned to look at them before nodding his head and finally left.
Both Haru and Serene didn't notice Hiromi arriving as they were still in shock by what just happened.
"Haru!"
Hiromi finally reached her two friends but was a little upset that Haru broke her net stick.
"Well, so much for your stick." Hiromi said as she picked up what remained of her stick.
"But at least you rescued that stupid cat." She said as Serene and Haru finally got over their shock and turned to her.
"It talked." Haru said while pointing in the direction of where the cat went.
"What?" Hiromi looked at her in confusion. What did she mean by that?
"That cat spoke to me." Haru continued in shock.
Hiromi looked at her as if she grew two heads but was a little concerned.
"Hey, did you hit your head?" Hiromi questioned.
Haru just frowned at her before looking back again to where the cat disappeared.
A small groan escaped Serene's mouth as she suddenly held her head in pain while shutting her eyes.
"Serene! Serene, are you okay?!" Haru went to her sister's side who sinked to her knees while holding her head.
Serene didn't answer as she was suddenly having flashes of images flashing through her mind. They were vivid but a little more clear to see as the image of the same figure with the emerald green eyes can be seen as he was standing behind her and tying an expensive looking necklace.
"Keep it to remember me by." The figure said in a gentleman's voice.
Serene shook her head as the ringing in her ears subsided as Haru and Hiromi looked at her in concern.
"Hey, you okay, Serene?" Hiromi asked in concern.
"I... I think so..." She said softly as she shook her head.
"Is it another memory?" Haru asked in concern as Serene nodded.
She just hopes that she can get answers to the memories suddenly returning as well as who the person with the green eyes is.
