Some time later, the whole apartment was quiet minus the soft snoring of the occupants in the living room. While his papa and brothers were sound asleep, Purple was still awake. He couldn't sleep due to reasons even though his eyes started to get heavy.
He won't let the mean lady hurt his family. Not on his watch. He didn't know when he fell asleep but he woke up when the room was lit up from the sun shining from the window. Wait, window?
Purple blinked in confusion and tiredness as the voice of the lady was heard greeting someone.
"Good morning, April! Let's get some breakfast, sweetie." Purple blinked in confusion at that. Was there someone else here besides him, his family and the mean lady?
He didn't ponder on it very long when his big brother, Red stepped on his head and made his snout hit the pillow with a muffled squeak of surprise as Red was quick to head to where the lady was.
He just let out a tired sigh as Red hopped off the couch. Purple felt the exhaustion from staying up too late taking its toll.
"Peep?" (Purple?) He heard his twin peeping at hummed curiously.
"Peep..." (Tired) He peeped back rather tiredly and he felt Blue patting his head as he fell asleep with Blue patting his head.
"Peep?" (Where's Red?) Orange peeped curiously.
3-year-old April watched her mom cut some food to cook as she tugged on her robe. Hearing running, she turned around just in time to see something green and spiky skidding to a stop just a few feet from her.
April didn't know what it was but it was funny looking and it looked like a turtle as it slumped forward which made her giggle. She went towards it and kneeled down before patting the head of the turtle which made it happy and enjoyed her touch.
"Nice doggy." She giggled as the strange turtle churred happily while wagging its tail.
It sat up as April looked at it in child-like wonder.
"Or are you a kitty?" She asked it curiously and got a curious churr in return.
"Chrr?" (Kitty?) It tilted its head.
"Can you say mew?" April asked curiously.
Red looked at the little human in confusion. He never knew humans could be small as well. When the little human asked him if he could say mew, he tried to make the sound until he got it right.
"Mew!" It meowed which made April clap her hands in delight.
"Yay! You are a kitty!" April smiled.
"Mew! Mew! Mew!" The turtle mewed again while wagging its tail.
April then hugged the turtle who seemed to like the hug and couldn't help but purr.
"Nice kitty!" April smiled happily.
Carol saw what was happening after hearing the mewing sounds and her heart just melted at the sight.
"Mom, look! Kitty!" April said to her mom.
"Mew! Mew!" The turtle mewed.
"Mommy!" April giggled and Carol just smiled at the adorable sight.
"Yes, I'm looking, honey." Carol giggled as April giggled.
"He isn't a kitty though. He's a turtle." Carol corrected her which got April to look at her mom curiously.
"Turtle?" She asked in confusion as her mom nodded. She has never seen a turtle before.
"Yes. You see, we have visitors over." Carol said as she sat down next to them.
"They will be staying for a while, so let's be nice to them okay?" Carol said as she rubbed April's locks as she smiled.
"Okay, momma!" April nodded.
