Day 2:

Prompt: Nightmares

(A DAY AFTER THE EVENTS OF "WATCHING AND DREAMING")

It was over, it was finally over. Belos was dead, the Collector had been stopped and the Boiling Isles was finally free. There was a ton of damage done to the Boiling Isles during the Collector's "playtime" but they would rebuild no matter how long it takes. However, that was a problem they would deal with in the future. For now Luz and her friends and family could rest easy. Luz and her mother were gonna be stuck in the Boiling Isles until a new portal was made so both spent the day helping get Eda's stuff back so everyone had a place to stay until they could leave. It took them a while for them to get Eda's furniture and set it all back up but they managed to do it before it got too late. After they all helped Willow, Gus, and Amity went to be with their families and Hunter went to help Darius with some things.

"Ahhhhh." Eda said as she flopped on her couch, "My house is finally starting to feel like home again!"

"Uhhhhh Eda, we still have the rest of the house to do." King pointed out.

Eda groaned, noticing that only the living room had been done, "Yeah yeah, I'm just happy I got all my stuff back.

Luz chucked at her teacher before letting out a huge yawn.

Camila ruffled her daughter's hair "Mija, Why don't you go get some rest."

Luz looked up at her mother, "I thought you wanted me to tell you about what happened with Belos."

"Your mom's right Luz," Eda interjected, "In fact, I think we could all use some sleep." She said before turning to Camila "Camila I'm sorry I don't have an extra bedroom.

"That's ok Eda, I can just sleep on the couch," she replied.

"That, or you could sleep with me and Raine in my nest." Eda replied followed by a wink.

Luz notices. "Eda, are you trying to hit on my mom!?" Luz asks with a shocked expression and slightly creeped out.

"What? Nooooooo." Eda replies back and gives a nervous smile, implying she was doing that. Luz looks on with a stern look since she knew her mentor/surrogate mother all too well. But Luz also knew she was just teasing Camila

"Well, if Camila is gonna sleep here, I'll stay on the couch with her. Let me get our pillows and a blanket." King offered and went into the closets.

Luz got her sleeping bag and went upstairs, "I'll head to sleep. I love you guys!"

Hooty opens the door and replies back, "And I love you, hoot hoot."

Luz grabbed her sleeping bag and went upstairs and went into her old room in the Owl House. Despite not living here for a long time compared to her room in the human realm she felt at home. Luz laid her sleeping bag out and quickly fell asleep. However, it was anything but peaceful.

(Luz's nightmare)

When Luz opened her eyes she was in a completely black room. "W-Where am I?"

"You failed, child." she heard a familiar ominous voice say behind her. She slowly turned and saw Belos

"Belos?" Luz said with fear in her voice, "N-No you're not really here, You're dead!" Luz swung her fist at him but her hand phased through his face.

Belos smirked at her, "No my dear. That would be you!" he said as he snapped his fingers, causing the room to light up.

Luz looked around the room to her horror. It was full of people she knew from the Boiling Isles in puppetized states. Her classmates, teachers, friends, and even her mother. This was wrong, so wrong.

"Funny," Belos said and he walked in circles around Luz, "You sacrificed yourself to save the Collector but in the end what you did it was all in vain. The Collector, The Owl Lady, the son of the Titan, are gone and this is what remains of the witches.

"No… no, you monster!!" Luz said, falling to her hands and knees and sobbing.

"This one…." Luz heard Belos say. When Luz looked up she saw Belos holding a puppetized Amity

"Amity!"

Belos smiled at the witch in his hands, "What do you think she's feeling right now? Probably feels regret that she ever met you knowing she wouldn't be here right now. Maybe she feels despair because you failed to save her. Or perhaps she feels false hope thinking you will still come to save her." Belos then held her by the back of her head holding her in front of Luz, "Such a terrible way to exist, maybe we should put her out of her misery!"

Luz held her hand out to Amity, "No please don't."

Belos squeezed the puppet's head with just his left hand until it crushed into pieces. Luz watches the pieces fall onto the ground and she looks on with dread as her body begins to dissipate into light particles and her body fills up with molt.

Luz begins to tear up and as she's dying, she yells out her final words.

Luz finally breaks down and shouts out, "AMITY, I'M SORRY!!!"

(Nightmare over)

Luz jolted up waking up from her nightmare. Luz takes Stringbean who just came from her window and turns her into her staff and blasts a hole through the Owl House's roof. Luz then takes a minute to herself before seeing the hole she made, then sees Stringbean fly out of her palisman staff form.

"Stringbean? I'm sorry. Did you… hear everything I said?" Luz then notices the opened window. "Did you… go out the window?"

Stringbean hissed in response, (Translation: "I could tell you were having a nightmare, so I went to get the one person I knew who could help you."

"Get who?" Luz replied, understanding what her palisman was saying.

"Luz?" She heard her favorite angelic voice call to her. She turned and saw her girlfriend standing in her doorway.

"Amity!?" Luz yelled and ran straight into Amity's arms crying.

"Luz… batata, what's wrong?" Amity asks while hugging Luz so tight to comfort her.

"He killed you! Right in front of me! It was awful, I couldn't take it! It's all my fault, and I failed you! I failed you…" Luz said, completely breaking down on herself and crying so much.

"Shhhhhh, Shhhhhh, it's okay. I'm here." Amity shushed her as she rubbed soothing circles on Luz's back to help her calm down. "Tell me what happened. What happened to you in your nightmare?"

"Ok," Luz started to calm down, nothing made Luz feel at ease more than being in Amity's arms. "Remember when I told you all about how I defeated Belos?"

Amity replies back, "Yes. You did. But you haven't told Camila yet about it. Why'd you ask?"

"I died." Luz quietly tells Amity. Just hearing those words already gave Amity a heart attack, breaking her heart from hearing the fact that her beloved Luz died and she didn't know.

"You… d-died?" Amity replied with tears in her eyes.

"Yes… I died, I was pretty much a ghost and Belos had everyone in their puppet forms, he said… The Collector, Eda, and King… they couldn't stop him and that wasn't even the worst part. Because after that he… he… he…" Luz said as she began to stammer and break down even more.

"What did he do?" Amity asks Luz, even more concerned because she realizes it gets even worse.

"HE CRUSHED YOUR HEAD RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!!! He killed the one thing that made me happy in this whole world!!! I lost my Hermosa!!!" Luz shouts out loud and breaks down again, tearing up more and more, but Amity pulls her in and holds her.

"Oh Titan… that really happened?" Amity asks, absolutely mortified.

"It hurts… It hurts so much. I hate him… I HATE HIM!" Luz replies back as she cries even more and shouts out loud her hatred towards the monster who tortured her, scarred her, manipulated her, and killed her.

"Hey, it's ok, I'm here I got you, I'm not going anywhere Luz." She said, rubbing Luz's back again. It broke her heart to see her like this.

"Amity," Luz said through the tears "I still have something I need to tell you."

"You can tell me anything, Batata"

Luz took a deep breath before speaking, "When Belos killed me during the final battle, I woke and saw The Titan, King's father. He lent me his power, made me a human-witch-Titan hybrid and that's how I was able to defeat Belos, once and for all." Luz passed to collect herself, "I'm so sorry I didn't tell you earlier Hermosa."

Amity then asks, "Why didn't you want to tell me sooner?"

Luz replies back in tears, "I was ashamed! I wanted to end him… but I didn't. Eda, Raine and King did. And you weren't there. Hunter should've been there to watch as I killed the man who tortured him and took Flapjack away. I also wanted you to be there to see how pretty I looked as a Titan, and… I needed mama to be there… because I just came back from the dead and I was so… SO scared."

Hearing that Luz technically died and came back to life filled Amity's heart with more dread and made her even more grateful to have Luz in her arms. Amity held Luz close and tighter to her "It's okay Luz! It's over! You're here now, that's all that matters."

"Amity, could you stay with me until we get the new portal door fixed? I can't handle the rest of these days without you. I'm in so much pain." Luz asked, still crying even more.

"Yes," Amity replied, "I honestly don't wanna leave your side, period."

Amity went and got a wet washcloth and cleaned her girlfriend's tear-stained face. Shortly after they both held each other close together in Luz's sleeping bag. Amity ran her hands through her girlfriends hair as Luz laid her head on her chest.

"I love you, my Titan." Amity whispered. She placed a gentle kiss on the top of Luz's head before she herself fell into a peaceful sleep.

"I love you, my Cotton Candy Goddess." Luz whispered back, "Thank you for being the light of my life." Luz whispers her thanks to Amity and sleeps with her.
