Chapter 3: Prom-posal gone wrong

Rudy is outside looking nervous with the confetti cannon in his arms, while everyone was leaving, he then sees Kat waving her friends away, while she was just sitting on a bench reading her book, He takes a deep breath and walks up to her.

"Hey Kat."

"Hi Rudy, what's up?"

"Um hey, So... I was wondering... did you see, like, all those Prom-posals around school this morning?"

"Yes."

She said while he smiled.

"They kinda weird me out."

She said while Rudy then looked a bit surprised and hid the cannon in his bag.

"I mean, just ask someone, it doesn't have to be this big proposal, it's crazy, right?"

"Oh, Yeah, I get that."

He said as she got up walking towards him.

"Besides, Prom is just a Post-Colonial-"

"Patriarchal Construct."

"Exactly!"

They finished each other's sentences and they giggled.

"You know, it could be fun to go with the right person, though."

Kat said removing her glasses and and fixing her hair, making Rudy blush a little because he thought she's more beautiful without her glasses.

"Oh... Yeah, totally."

He chuckled rubbing his neck, then their was silence, then Rudy cleared his throat.

"Kat?/Rudy?"

"Oh, Sorry."

"Kat?/Rudy?"

"Oh hey/ Oh, you got me."

"You go first."

"No, you go."

"No, you go."

"Okay, No, you go, I go."

They giggled doing this.

"Wait, okay, no but seriously. What, what did you wanna say?"

Kat asked while putting her glasses back on and Rudy was scratching behind his ears.

"Um, Kat, I... I..."

She was waiting for a response and then...

"...Think I'm gonna be sick."

He said walking away to the edge.

"Whoa, hey, are-are you ok?"

"Yeah. Yeah, Yeah Yeah, I get sick sometimes when I'm close to the Clouds, it's genetic."

He said having an exaggerated look thinking to himself "WHAT!?"

"You know, my cousin does this grounding technique thing..."

Before she finished she notice the cannon fell out of Rudy's bag a picked it up.

"Oh, Whoops! Wait, what's this?"

She asked making Rudy look behind her and then looked worried.

"Uhh... Ha! Oh, that? Never seen that before."

"Whoa, is this a Kaleidoscope?"

"Maybe put it down."

As he tried to take it back he accidentally pressed the button, having a gasping look, and as Kat look inside the cannon and then...

BOOM!!!

Confetti exploded all around where they were, with Rudy yiping and Kat's face was all covered in confetti, without looking, she tripped and fell off the edge into the sea of clouds.

"KAT!"

Rudy ran to the edge and saw she vanished.

"CATHERINE!!"

Rudy panicked and tried to do something about it, he looked behind and saw a rope.

"Kat! Grab this!"

He tossed it out but it wasn't long enough.

"SON OF A TAILNUGGET!!"

He said in a language that only he speaks, he then realized that despite his Mom's rule, he's gonna have to save her himself.

"Kat! I'm coming!"

He said taking off his bag, and standing on the rail looking down into the clouds, hyperventilating.

"Ok, okay okay okay okay okay okay. Breathe... breathe- YYYAAAAAAHHH!!"

He tripped and fell into the clouds, screaming and falling from a really far height, he then spots Kat and push himself twards her, but then different wind currents blew them in separate directions, Rudy hung on to a cliff, but hen lost grip, he blew past a bunch of rocks hitting them hard, but still had conscious, the wind blew him into the direction of Kat, tried to reach her again and was so close, but then the currents blew them away again, Rudy hitted a bunch of cliffs and fell on his head really hard on a cliff top, with his eyes slowly closing looking up, and then he was out cold.

When hope seemed lost, his left hand slowly got more scales and it started to glow, it traveled up his arm to the scales on his neck and then, Rudy open his eyes revealing glowing Red eyes, and released a huge energy pulse swarming across the skies.

Kat was still falling unconsciously looking like her end, just then a Giant anonymous thing swooped in really fast, catching her and bringing her up to land, a bird flew away as a giant hand released Kat and disappeared into the clouds, Kat then wakes up, coughing out confetti, clearing her eyes to see someone was there with her.

Meanwhile, the anonymous thing flew into the trees and out came Rudy falling down a hill and landing face front, he pulls his head out and spits out dirt.

"What just happened?"

He said getting dirt off him while looking at himself, and then remembers something else.

"Catherine!"

He ran to the School and saw everyone was outside talking about the incident, he passed through the crowd looking for Kat then Margot came out of nowhere pushing people out the way.

"Rudy! there you are, you just missed the story of the year dude, Kat fell off the edge."

"I didn't mean to! I mean, I didn't do it, gosh. That's crazy, and surprising! because it definitely didn't have anything to do with me."

Rudy laughed weirdly.

"Are you feeling alright? And why is your face dirty?"

Margot asked, but Rudy didn't pay attention as he spotted Kat who looked down and he walked up to her.

"Kat! Are you ok?"

He asked as she coughed up more confetti.

"Yeah. It was crazy, I just remember there was smoke, and glitter..."

She continues making Rudy feel like it's his fault.

"...And then the next thing I knew, I was saved by... the new guy."

"The new guy?"

He asked as he looked over the horizon to see someone in blond hair with blue eyes and in a green outfit.

"The new guy!"

He said as everyone cheered while Rudy raised an eyebrow.

"Thank you, Thank you."

"He's going to say something."

Said a student holding a sign that said "silence" and everyone shushed.

"Picture this, me, stunning but approachable, on my first day school, I'm lost and confused, struggling to find my first class..."

He said walking down a stair of people to Rudy and Kat.

"...When suddenly, I spot little red reading hood here, falling into the clouds."

He Gasped

"I'm just lucky that-"

"Oh! shush shush! Ooh, my story."

He interrupted Kat.

"Now I don't really do well with heights, but in that moment, I remembered what my father always told me... You are handsome."

He continued as everyone giggled.

"Also big risk, big rewards. Always go big! And what is bigger than saving a life?"

He finished climbing up a fountain and everything praised him, while Rudy gave a big eyebrow raise.

"I love you so much."

Said a student.

"love you too Rando."

"He pointed at me, I'm Rando."

Said a guy whose name is actually Rando, then Rudy looked down and saw his hand was glowing and it should more scales.

"Oh no, what's happening?"

He said back up trying to get out of there and then bumped in to someone.

"Oh, excuse me..."

"Wait!"

The new kid said falling and being caught as Rudy stopped turned around and hid his hand.

"We haven't met, I'm Chester, Chester Van Der Zee, it's Dutch, Bedankt (Thank you)."

He said as he was put down by the catchers.

"And you are...?"

"I'm... um, I'm Rudy Scaleman, it's Canadian, eh?"

"Okay maybe it's the whole "don't look at me" vibe, but there's something different about you"

Chester said as Rudy felt uncomfortable.

"Heh, I really got to go now."

He said with his hands out and hid them again, everyone then looked at him as he started hyperventilating, he could hear them all saying stuff and questioning about his weird attitude and Rudy felt like he was gonna pass out.

"Are you okay? You look like you've been through a lot."

Chester asked as Rudy backed up more.

"Yeah! Yeah, I gotta go... now!"

He dashed off.

"Alright everyone, shows over, let's get back to class."

The speakers said as everyone started to leave, but Chester curiously watched as Rudy ran to the library.
