"Have you seen the news recently?" Shaggy asked.
"A tar monster was attacking New Orleans," Daphne answered.
"I meant the Top Chef season finale," Shaggy replied. "It had a big scandal. One of the contestants was humping one of the judges."
"Hump city," Fred said and turned to Velma. "Hey, Velma, I thought you invented a gadget to freeze tar."
Velma nodded. "It is still in the prototypes."
"Can we get a working gadget to freeze the tar monster?" Fred asked.
"If I do a few modifications, the gadget should work as designed," Velma answered. "I'm going to have to stay behind to work on the modifications."
"While Velma does that, why don't the rest of us gather clues?" Daphne suggested.
Everyone nodded and left the clubhouse behind Fred's house. They planned on taking the Mystery Machine to New Orleans in the morning. It would be a long journey from Coolsville, Ohio.
Four days later, Velma took a flight to New Orleans and met the gang in a graveyard. Velma took out a hair dryer and turned it on. The cold air from the hair dryer froze the Tar Monster. The Tar Monster was a real monster – an angry woman fell into a tar pit, and all that angry energy turned her into a tar monster. Once she calmed down enough, the tar dropped to the ground revealing a blond fat woman. The police arrested her for causing damage to the city.
