I am aware this is late. I think you'll appreciate it anyway. I'll eventually finish all the prompts.
Prompt: Day 2: Treehouse - Woods
Diluc rarely every stalked too far into this part of the woods near the Dawn Winery, and for good reason – too many memories of his childhood that had become tainted with his brother's revelation to him all those years ago. Alas, here he was, wandering through the forest he spent his youth in looking for another small child with a pyro vision with no care in the world.
What might have been even weirder was the fact that Diluc had returned to this place with the very same person he spent so much time with before. Kaeya had been following Klee's path of destruction after she ran away from Jean's punishment again. Honestly, someone else should be watching the small girl with explosives. Jean had no experience with children and already had too much on her plate to deal with watching the rambunctious girl. Kaeya did what he could, but he had his own job to do. He wasn't able to raise a child. No one in the Knight's really could at this point. All he could do was get her out for some time to play and try and find her after she inevitably made something explode.
"Jean really makes her stay alone in a room all day every time she breaks a rule?" Diluc asked in disbelief. He was remembering every time he and Kaeya had broken house rules and gotten some chores, but never isolation. That was cruel. Kaeya grimaced before he spoke.
"Unfortunately. I have voiced my opinion on Klee's punishments many times, but Jean has it in her head that solitary confinement is the best way to deal with her," Kaeya ended with a sigh.
"Alice won't like that when she hears about it," Diluc muttered. Kaeya nodded in agreement.
"I know Alice wanted to continue her adventures, but honestly she should have at least left Klee with people able to properly take care of her. No one in the Knights is able to take care of a child. If Klee didn't have a vision, it would be fine, but Klee has a pyro vision, and we both know how children with pyro visions are," Kaeya said before he abruptly stopped walking. Diluc didn't really notice until he realized Kaeya was no longer beside him.
Diluc took a second to see what Kaeya had stopped for before finding an old treehouse that Crepus had built many years ago. Diluc returned to Kaeya's side.
"I didn't think it would still be up there after everything with Stormterror," Kaeya said.
"It's been through worse," Diluc, admittedly, was also surprised. No one was maintaining it, but he also knew it would take more than wind to blow it down. He didn't notice Kaeya smirking.
"Like the time you set fire to this side of the forest because you were made you lost a card game, or are you referring to the time you accidentally set off an explosion because you attacked a large electro slime and overloaded it?" Kaeya's smirk only grew. Diluc sighed.
"Either, both, neither, who knows. I dareseay even Klee couldn't make this thing fall out of this tree."
"Speaking of, doesn't it seem… quiet?" Kaeya asked. Diluc paused for a second before he realized Kaeya was right.
"I believe we may have found where our little destruction expert has come to hide," Diluc sighed. Kaeya decided to climb up the ladder and found Klee curled up in a ball, resting her head on her backpack.
"She certainly tired herself out running this far," Kaeya murmured fondly while picking the girl up. Klee managed to stay asleep and curled into his grasp. He managed to bring her back down without issue.
Diluc was still staring at the treehouse and Kaeya got Klee situated more comfortably in his arms.
"Still thinking about the past, old man?" Kaeya teased. Diluc snorted.
"No, on the contrary I'm thinking about the future of this thing. Perhaps I can commission for this to get fixed up to give Klee a place to go play outside the city. It's close to the Winery but far enough so her bombs wouldn't cause damage to the grapes," Diluc trailed off. Kaeya wasn't surprised. Diluc was much the same as Klee when he was a child.
"It'll be good for her to have a place to go. To be a kid. My only question is who will watch her so she doesn't accidentally set everything on fire," Kaeya shook his head before starting on the path back to the Winery.
"You know as well as I do Adelinde will watch her in a heartbeat."
