Hello everyone and we are back with a new chapter for Heaven's Shadow, we are nearly done with the story, part two is here and I am sorry it took a while. I was busy and I had some things to handle, but hopefully I can get this chapter and the next one out this week. Fingers crossed. Once I go post this chapter and go to sleep I'm onto the next chapter. Sry for the long wait and let's get into it.
Heaven's Shadow Chapter Twelve: Finale Part 2
(A Devil's Justice)
"Split up! I'll handle the Nun, you guys the rest!"
"Kid wait!" Was the last thing Ragna heard when he jumped into the air and burst through the charging horde of angelic automatons, blasting towards Sofia. One moment he was taunting Sofia, quipping about her failed attempts of capture, the next Bayonetta appears to join him in taking down the psycho Nun. The two now stood across from Sofia, the Nun holding up her over-sized Cross as the battle of heroes and Paladins raged around them.
"This is too crowded, why don't we change the scenery?" Sofia stated, lifting her hand that was nor surrounded in a golden aura. Ragna and Bayonetta now find themselves floating in the air as a golden cross appears under them, lifting them high into the sky until they were a good distance from the top of the mountain. Ragna looked down at the battle below, and a split second Bayonetta pulled him back as Sofia effortlessly swung her cross hoping to cleave the boy.
"Stay focus, Little Devil." Bayonetta cooed as she fired several rounds, but Sofia spun her cross deflecting every bullet.

"Let Heaven's Light have mercy on you, for I shall not!" Sofia dashed towards them with Lightspeed, swinging her over-sized cross. Bayonetta jumped over while Ragna blocked it with his blade, the sky shaking from the clash. The Umbran Witch landed behind Sofia and summoned a wicked weave fist, hurling towards the Nun. Sofia twisted the handle of her weapon, and the opposite end opened up to reveal a hole, before a ball of golden light was shot out. Bayonetta jumped back just as Sofia reappeared behind her in a golden flash, ready to cleave the witches head. However, her cross was met with hellfire, Ragna slamming his Ifrit gauntlet into her weapon and sending her back.
She twisted her cross and fired several golden orbs towards the two, Ragna slammed his fist into one while Bayonetta twirled her body and kicked it back. The explosion rocked the golden cross under them but the three kept fighting. Ragna launched a barrage of blows at the Nun, whose cross formed a golden shield to take the full force of his attack. She twisted her leg to collide with Bayonetta's kick, but the witch fired a round which pushed Sofia up farther into the air. She twisted her cross and fired a shot into the sky, blasting her back to the two, slamming her boot into Ragna and knocking Bayonetta away. Ragna grunted as a ribbed cracked from Sofia's boot slammed into his chest. She lifted her weapon and slammed it down, the hybrid reaching up and holding blade inches from his eye, growling as he kept her at bay. She was strong, nearly as strong as Diana but nothing he couldn't handle.
"Don't take your eyes off me, Dear." Sofia turned only to be knocked away by Bayonetta's wicked weave fist, sending her across the platform as Ragna hopped back on his feet. He disappeared in a red flash and slammed Ifrit's gauntlet into her cheek, sending the shocked Sofia flying off the cross. She reappeared via golden flash and swung her blade, only to gasp as Ragna easily caught it with Ifrit, pulling his fist back and punching the weapon knocking her back once again. She stabbed her blade into the platform slowing her attack, twisting her body to block a kick from Bayonetta, just as Ragna jumped behind her with Jekyll and Hyde aimed at her back. Sofia ducked and spun her cross, but the hybrid summoned Cerberus and blocked the blow with his fire stick, his feet skating in a circle jumping into the air. He slammed the butt of the stick into Sofia's temple, just as Bayonetta slammed a wicked weave boot into her cross, knocking her across the platform.
Sofia blasted back spinning around like a windblade, knocking Bayonetta aside and focusing on Ragna who summoned Morningstar. Despite the size of her weapon she moved it with ease, but the Nun still snarled as she could not lay a finger on the boy, he clashed and spun his blade and his demonic strength was simply greater. Sparks flew from the clashing blades as Ragna slammed his blade down on her cross, pushing back to pull out Hyde and fire off a Rage Infused blast. The explosion rocked Sofia before Ragna slammed his boot into her cheek and spun his body, slamming his blade into her side and knocking her into the sky. Sofia twisted her body as Bayonetta reappeared behind her, pulling a wicked weave back, only for Sofia to twist her body around the attack and slam herself into the witch. The User of Darkness and Servant of Light clashed across the sky, bullets and light flying everywhere as Ragna reached for his blade.
"Mm, you're quite skilled." Bayonetta mused, blocking Sofia's blade with her guns, the handles already dented from her scuffle with Ragna, and this over-sized hunk of metal didn't make it better.
"I have trained my entire life for the Order, to exterminate his and your cla-Are you seriously yawning right now?!" Sofia screeched, eye twitching as Bayonetta put one gun away and yawned into her hand.
"Dear, I didn't wanna hear your entire backstory, I just wanted to give you a small compliment." Bayonetta explained, checking her nails before twisting her fingers and producing lip gloss, applying it to her lips much to the Nun's ever growing annoyance. Sofia pushed her away and disappeared via Lightspeed, reappearing behind Bayonetta swinging. However, Ragna reappeared blocking her blow, spinning his body and knocking her back to the ground.
"I don't get it." Ragna muttered as he and Bayonetta landed back on the platform across from Sofia.
"What's there to get, Little Devil? She's clearly no match for the both of us." Bayonetta leans on Ragna as Sofia glared at them.
"No, I mean I don't get how they have all this power still, I….I freed Mariel from you guys." Ragna stated, confusing Bayonetta. Who was Mariel? Regardless, it seemed Sofia recognized that name, scoffing as she stood back up.
"Yes, Yes we are aware of Magnus' failure in keeping the Paladin's Power Source alive, during your little raid on our home base in Redgrave." Sofia growled, twisting the cross like a blade.
"However, Mariel was not the only source of power we have."
"She was an Angel, how could you do that, how can you call yourselves servants of God if you are willingly torture and imprison Angels?" Ragna asked, aiming his blade at the Nun.
"Mariel and her Group gave themselves willingly to us, to end the Crusades once and for all. Because of them we have watched over the world for centuries, keeping vanguard for the rises of dark forces: Demons, Evil Patrons of Gods…..and Witches." The last one she directed at Bayonetta, who eyes flashed with a small hint of remembrance. She saw fire, people screaming, and strange angelic creatures in the sky.
"Now I will do what my ancestor did long ago and finish the Witch Hunts, and erase the Blood of Sparda off the face of this Earth, once and for all." Sofia roared, slamming her cross into Ragna's blade. Bayonetta twisted her body to slam her boot into Sofia, only to gawk in shock as a shield appeared in front of Sofia, belonging to an arm that wasn't hers. Ragna and Bayonetta jumped back, coming face to face with a large angelic being akin to Ragna's Spectral Figure, this one taking the form of a Knight with one wing, a halo adorned his helmet.
"Now be bathed in Holy Light." Sofia proclaimed, aiming her cross as the being aimed his sword at the two.
"Ready Little Devil?" Bayonetta asked, a red aura covering her body, while Ragna took a deep breath before his body exploded with Hellfire, transforming into his Inferno Mode.
"Let's go!" Ragna blasted off his feet swinging his blade as Bayonetta conjured two wicked weave fists. Sofia blocked the infernal blade with her cross while the Angelic Knight blocked Bayonetta's fist. That did little to stop the two as they bounced around the platform, the angelic being cleaving the very air with its blade. Ragna ran across the blade and sliced through the angelic being, but it's form simply reformed before Bayonetta slammed wicked weave boots into its chest pushing it and Sofia back. She twisted her cross and fired out several golden orb shots, the hybrid cutting through them as he tackled Sofia, the two swinging and clashing their steel, hellfire burning against Heaven's light.
Bayonetta ducked under the Angelic beings swing, slamming her fist forward only for it to be blocked by the shield. It swung its shield arm knocking Bayonetta into the sky, swinging its blade and firing a wave of golden light. Bayonetta fired off two shots and sent herself flying back towards the platform. She spun over the wave of golden energy and slammed onto his shield, the angelic being heard her exclaim in a demonic tongue, twisting his shield to see the Umbran Witch….naked? Her more private areas covered by her hair as a red symbol appeared under her feet. He pulled his blade back to cleave her in two, only for teeth to sink intos armor, tearing into ethereal flesh. It turned to see a draconic demon holding its arm at bay.
Gomorrah snarled and tore into the armored being, yet no silver blood poured from the vessel, but all it took was one bash to the head with his shield to kill the demon. However, that was all Bayonetta needed to summon a bigger fist and slammed it into the angelic summons head, knocking it to the ground. Sofia, who had been busy fighting Ragna, felt her feet leave the ground and into the air right into Bayonetta's fist. The angelic summon caught Sofia but Ragna dashed through its chest with Morningstar, hellfire burning around him as he spun around, cleaving its arm off. Only seconds later did it regrow one as it set Sofia down, the Nun firing several shots and blasting off into the sky. Ragna fired off Hyde launching himself towards Sofia and her Angelic Summon as Bayonetta flew with him.
Ragna's blade burned with Hellfire, melting through the summons holy blade, spinning around its arm until it was chopped into pieces. Bayonetta summoned her wicked weaves firing a barrage of punches that the summon blocked with its shield, but Ragna shot down kicking the shield out of view leaving the creature to the beating of the Umbran Witch. Sofia snarled as she flung herself towards Ragna, only to gasp in shock as an extra arm appeared catching her weapon, Ragna growling as the red spectral being appeared, punching Sofia away. Ragna roared as his power was unleashed, there was no time to hold back, not with monsters like Sofia. They could not be reasoned with, so they had to be stopped, he cannot let them harm his family no lo-
"Ghia'ta?" Ragna looked over to see his girlfriend flying into the sky, several Angelos behind her.
"DIE!" Sofia screeched with rage, but that rage simmered down once it was easily caught by Ragna's right hand, Ifrit's gauntlets appearing before the spectral figure appeared taking the Fire demons shape. Sofia's eyes widened as Ragna pulled his fist back, just as Ifrit's spectral cracked its knuckles and did the same.
"Hellkrieg." Was the last thing Sofia heard before a fist slammed into her cheek, then another, and another to the point where Ragna's fist was a blur and Sofia was his punching bag.
"That was for my teammates!" Ragna pulled his fist back and slammed it into Sofia's chin, blasting her into the air, the summon along with her.
"This is for the girls who you kidnapped, and tortured, especially my girlfriend!" Ragna fired off into the sky, spinning around and stopping with his fist pulled back, slamming it into the summons chest. He grabbed onto it as Ifrit's fist were aimed at the sky.
"And this is for all the trouble you and your paladins have caused tonight!"
"FA JIN FIST!" Ragna fired like a comet, blasting Sofia and her summon to the ground as Bayonetta summoned a fist, slamming it onto the spectral's head as they crashed into the golden platform, cracks appearing all over.
"Oh, you don't look so well from up here Sweetie, and that makeup does not do you any good either." Bayonetta mused.
"Wha?" Sofia groaned as she held up her cross, staring at her own reflection, gasping in disgust seeing lip gloss around her eyes and above her lips like a mustache.
"GAH! Damn YOU!" Sofia roared as she wiped her mouth clean, rolling back on her feet firing from her cross, only for Ragna to slam his fist into the weapon, his hellish flames and strength breaking and bending the weapon. Her eyes stared down at her broken weapon, glaring down at the equally annoyed hybrid. The angelic summon reappeared with its blade pulled back, as Ragna switched for Morningstar as did his Spectral. It ducked under the swing of the summon, before swinging right through it, burning the heavenly light with hellish flames. Sofia screamed in pain, caught in a blast of holy light. At this exact moment, Aris was knocked into the mountain, while Lero was caught in Green Lantern's blast.
The entire golden platform shattered as Sofia crashed back onto the platform below, just as Lero collapsed and Aris crashed into the mountain. Ragna landed back down with Bayonetta behind him, the others cheering in the background from their respective victory, Sofia staggering back to her feet. She looked up gasping to see Lero on his back with smoke rising off his body, groaning in pain. She looked over to see a rejuvenated Man of Steel flying out of a hole with Aris in his hand, tossing the behemoth beside Lero. She could not believe that….that they had lost.
"Surrender now and you'll be brought to Justice." Ragna stated, aiming his blade at the Nun.
"...Justice…Justice? JUSTICE?!" Sofia roared, golden aura surrounding her body.
"I AM JUSTICE! I am Heaven's Justice!" Sofia roared.
"Give it up Sofia, you lost!" Bayonetta declared.
"NO!" Sofia roared defiantly like a petulant child, the golden aura exploding into a halo around her, gathering the others attention.
"I WILL NOT LOSE! I SHALL NOT LOSE!" Sofia reached into her cloak and pulled out a long rectangular box.
"Tell me, Devil, do you remember the story Christ? Where they crucified him with four stakes to the cross?" Sofia growled, gripping the case tightly.
"Well what if I told you it was nine, three on each hand and his feet. Those nine were recovered by the Paladins. Those nine were passed down from generation to generation, for each one holds the untainted blood of the Son of God himself. Magnus underestimated you and chose not to use it, and I'll admit you caught me by surprise with your tenacious desire to survive, but I will not take chances." With that the case snapped, revealing a silver needle as Sofia twisted it in her grip. As this went on the others ran over to join Ragna and Bayonetta, standing at the ready for whatever Sofia had planned.
"Oh~~?! You got a little pin needle, careful you might prick yourself." Bayonetta mocked, however, with her mask destroyed the group saw the small smirk on her lips.
"Oh trust me…I hope I do." Sofia cooed as she turned the needle, straight for her chest.
"Wait….is she?" Flash asked.
"No. No, that would be suicidal." Tala scoffed it off, though her nervous features betrayed her confidence.
"I mean how would that even wor-OH MY STARS!" Ghia'ta exclaimed in shock covering her mouth as Sofia jabbed the needle into her chest. She ignored the pain as she pulled her hands together and slammed it all the way in. Sofia's eyes widened, her mouth open but no scream came out, before she collapsed.
"...Huh. That was sad to watch." Hawkgirl muttered.
"Is….Is she dead, Friend Ragna?" Starfire asked, looking over at said hybrid.
"...I….I don't think so."
"You don't think so?! What the fuck do you mean 'I don't think so'?! How does that make sense?!" Crush cursed, walking up and standing in front of Ragna.
"She just fucking committed suicide after spouting some bullshit about this Cheese an' Rice guy-!"
"Jesus Christ."
"Tomato Tomato, bitch is fucken dead!"
"Quite a mouth on this one." Bayonetta muttered.
"Yeah, and there's no off switch." Tala muttered, only to gawk as something happened beyond Crush.
"What, ya think this is like your crappy colorless comics where the villain gets a shitty powerup cause she thought the two thousand year old nails had stupid powers?! That if she stabbed herself in the heart she would have come back and start floating in the air with new bullshit po….What the fuck y'all lookin at?" As Crush ranted, everyone's attention was behind her, the alien punk looking back to see Sofia floating in the air with a golden cross behind her.
"...Oh fuck me and my stupid mouth." Crush grumbled as everyone stood at attention.
"This ends now!" Sofia declared as angelic light shot out of her hands and grabbed her companions. Lero and Aris were unconscious as Sofia pulled them into the light. The remaining Angelos were grabbed by tethers of light, pulled into Sofia as it became a metamorph of light, taking shape into something inhuman, becoming as big as the Imperium Hivemind Ragna faced, if not surpassed its height. The group shielded their eyes for a few moments before it died down, they looked up to see something angelic stand before them.
Gone was Sofia the Nun, here stood a being of pure light, wrapped in a cloak of golden heavenly power, with four wings sprouted from their back, before two pairs of arms appeared: One set slamming their hands together while the others simply hung to the side as if ready to carry something. The face was pure white yet feminine, opening its eyes to reveal gold, staring down at the group.
"I stand before you, my rebirth complete, into the Perfect Image of God's Will."
(Sofia: Light Reborn)
"May God give you pardon and peace, as I bathe you in his Gracious Light. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." From her clasped hands, she formed a triangle, an orb of golden light forming within.
"Amen."
"Everyone move!" Ragna's grabbed Ghia'ta as Diana and Superman grabbed several of them, flying out of the way as a beam of light cut straight through the mountain, followed by it exploding. The groups were separated in the forest below, but one flap of Sofia's wings sent the trees flying.
"Lasers?! SERIOUSLY?!" Tala exclaimed.
"Do not bother running, there is nowhere you can hide." Sofia stated, firing another beam that sliced through the earth between Ragna and several others, exploding seconds later.
"Your first mistake was thinking we'd run in the first place!" Ragna exclaimed as he jumped into the air, swinging Morningstar. His blade cut through the golden robe, but it healed instantly before one of the massive hands reached down and smacked him away. He was picked up by Diana as she threw him back up while she slammed her fist into Sofia's waist. Many others joined who could fly, firing beams and slamming their fist into Sofia's cloak, the magic users firing bolts of darkness or chaos, and Donna throwing her spear. While Flash grabbed Crush and Batman, running across the destroyed forest line as a laser trailed behind them.
"Your efforts are commendable, but futile." Sofia lifted her two hands slowly, covering them in a golden aura before slamming them together. The slap created a shockwave that created an ever expanding aura that sent everyone flying. Ragna grunted as his blade fell out of his hands and somewhere in the forest, the hybrid landing back on his feet looking back up at Sofia. His eyes widened in fear as the beam fired directly at him.
"Ragna!" Ghia'ta cried out just as the beam hit, expecting to see nothing but ashes.
"RRAAAAHHHH!" Ragna roared as his body exploded with hellfire, almost protecting him from the golden laser, only for the after explosion to knock him into the sky. A hand reached out and crushed Ragna in its grip, Sofia pulling the hand up to stare down at the smoking hybrid. Her eyes' slowly widened as Ragna pulled himself back up, glaring up at her.
"Your defiance is something to be amazed at, but it ends here." With that Sofia tossed Ragna into the air, using the hands she fired her laser from, slamming them together around Ragna.
"NO!" The collective outcry echoed across the forest, Sofia ignored them as she released another golden shockwave knocking them back again. However, she watched as her hand was pushed apart, revealing Ragna inside. He strained and growled pushing the large palms with all his strength, his hellish flames burning Sofia but she ignored the pain.
"Ragna! Get out of there!" Ghia'ta cried out, only to shield her eyes as something flew right past her.
"Diana?" Flash asked, noticing the Amazon was no longer standing beside him.
"Did that Umbran Bitch run away?" Tala asked, noticing she hadn't seen Bayonetta since the attack. However, a red bullet flew above her and towards the palm, both lightning and darkness flying in as it closed at the last second. Ragna roared and cried as he could only hold it for so long, when suddenly it felt like the grip Sofia had on him had softened a bit.
"Ragna, are you okay?!" He looked over his shoulder to see Diana staring down at him, using her arms to push the palms away.
"Diana…"
"Now, now, Little Devil, don't forget about me."
"Bayonetta?" Ragna looked up to see Bayonetta smiling down at him, holding the palms with her hands and wicked weave fists.
"Didn't want you hogging all the fun." The three nodded in unison as they pushed the palm farther open, Ragna's spectral figure activating and helping.
"Enough of this fruitless endeavor." Sofia growled, using more strength to push the palm back together, the three inside groaning at the added strength now straining against theirs. That's when Bayonetta got an idea.
"Little Devil….try not to peep, alright?"
"Huh?" Ragna's question went unanswered as Bayonetta's clothes disappeared as her hair spiraled into a red portal.
"PDI BARMA!" Sofia's eye cocked in confusion, just as a portal appeared in front of her face. Before she could react, two high heels slammed into her eye, the angelic nun screaming in pain as the creature blasted through the palm. It slammed into the ground, the group of heroes looking up to an outrageously tall woman in a demonic insect stand at full height, opening her palm showing Ragna and the girls.
"Woah, that is one hot momma." Flash whistled.
"Oh…..Holy Hell. It's her. It's actually her." Tala whispered, both in fear and awe.
"Tala?" Jennifer asked, looking over at her in confusion.
"I've only seen her in books, but I never thought I'd see her in person."
"Who is she?"
"A great Madama of Inferno, the Mistress of Agony, of Darkness, of Shadow…..Madama Butterfly."
(Madama Butterfly: Mistress of Atrocity)
"...Bayonetta, who is this?" Ragna asked, looking up at the gargantuan demon woman.
"This is my familiar, Madama Butterfly, many of my abilities and weaves come from her." Bayonetta explained
"YOU FUCKEN LUCKY BITCH!" Tala exclaimed from across the forest.
"She is gonna help us turn the tide, right Butterfly?" Ragna looked up at the demon, who stared at him with a smoldering gaze, before winking. Hearing growling above, the four looked up to see Sofia glaring down at them with her healed eye.
"...Yeah." Ragna reached out and from the forest came Morningstar, slamming into his hand.
"Let's end this once and for all!"
(A Devil's Justice)
Whoo, got that done. It took longer then expected and honestly it's just because so many things were changing which I never like doing in an arc, which I did a lot for this Special, of which I will get into at the end of the story in the pros and cons. A lot of this fight was fun to write but it also went balls to the walls which I like doing, it's kind of like certain animes like DBZ/Bleach/MHA where the power scaling is stronger than the canon series. The nail was obv from Hellsing Ultimate with Anderson, because I wanted to do the nails for a while mainly with Magnus but decided to save that for another day and I thought why not it was similar to what Sofia was gonna do in the original version. And we also introduce Madama Butterfly who has been basically there with her arms and feet but now she is truly here and we are here to reach the big final battle. Sofia's design is a bit based on Bleach's Quincy Lille Barro Vollstandig 'Jilliel' but more feathery and there is a completely bald face. Like basic outline so to speak. Once I post this and get some sleep gonna try and get the next one done. Next fight, let's end this!
