Annie: because I had watched a couple of clips from the Paw Patrol movie that came out a few years ago on my Facebook account and liked them so I ended up watching the said movie and then started watching the TV episodes on YouTube which got me into reading fanfics of paw patrol, and I couldn't help but write my own story.

Annie: We don't own anything except Raya, Makayla, Dave, and Nurse Joy. I have typed this up and then gone back over it and added more then read it and changed things around and added even more to it a couple of times. I could not stop reading and editing it.

Summary: This is my first attempt at a paw patrol story so please be nice with it. The story takes place between seasons 4 and 5 since I mention Sid Swashbuckle and Arrby. Ryder's two sisters join him as he goes cave exploring only for them to fall into a sinkhole and need the pups to rescue them, they are also badly hurt. Read and review, please!
"Ready to go see Ryder, Kayla?" a young girl about ten years old with brown hair and eyes asked her 5-year-old sister, who had brown hair and green eyes.
"Yeah!" Kayla said as she jumped around her sister, who laughed, she missed her big brother.
"Okay, let's go to Adventure Bay and find Ryder!" the ten-year-old girl said as the two headed out.
Once the two arrived in Adventure Bay they went to the cave and found a boy about ten years old standing there, an ATV was sitting not far away, showing how he had gotten to the cave in the first place. The three of them had planned to meet up and explore the cave long before that day.
"RY!" the two girls called at the same time as the boy turned and smiled at them and waved as they ran up to hug him.
"Missed you, Rei. Missed you too, Kay." Ryder said as he hugged his twin sister Raya and their little sister Makayla. Ry was the nickname his sisters used when speaking with him, he called his twin Rei, and they called their little sister Kayla or Kay.
"We missed you Ry. Ready to explore the cave?" Raya asked as they nodded.
"I have my pup pad, just in case we need help." Ryder said as he showed it to his sisters. Ryder was in charge of the paw patrol, a group of puppies that could talk and used their pup packs and vehicles to help/save/rescue people and animals in and around Adventure Bay. Ryder had needed the pups to help/save/recuse him a few times, he had told his sisters everything that had happened in his letters to them.
"Let's hope we won't need to use it today." Kayla said as they headed into the cave to explore, not knowing how wrong she was.
A while later they decided to head back to the cave entrance since it was getting late, but as they got a few feet from the entrance the pathway they were walking on collapsed under their feet, causing them to fall down a steep hole.
"Ouch, that hurt." Moaned Makayla as she sat up and noticed that her older siblings were both out cold and that she was on top of them with her brother on the bottom of the pile they had made when they fell. "I guess I have to call the Paw patrol on Ry's pup pad myself to get us out of here. Oh no, it's broken! Hopefully, it still works."
The pups themselves were having fun and relaxing in the sun around the tower when their pup tags started flashing, alerting them to the fact that Ryder needed them, their tags also allowed them to speak with each other and Ryder, when they were not next to each other. The six pups faintly heard a voice that did not sound like Ryder it sounded like a female.
"Ryder needs us?!" all six pups exclaimed confused by the voice as they all stopped what they were doing and raced into the tower, with Marshall tripping and knocking them all down and took the lift to the top, where Ryder normally would be waiting for them, minus the few times Ryder called them because he himself needed their help.
"Paw patrol, ready for action, Ryder sir! Uh, Ryder?" Chase said when they were ready and noticed that Ryder was not there in the tower.
"Sorry, … name … Makayla. … Ryder's … sister." came a young female's voice from the speakers, they could only hear every other word, and the screen was black so they could not see anything, they also realized that she was the voice they heard through their pug tags. (sorry, my name is Makayla. I'm Ryder's little sister.)
"Are you alright?" Skye asked as they all heard her sigh.
"To ... your ..., no. ... older ... and ... are ... town ... the ..., and ... met up ... our ... Ryder ... we ... exploring ... cave ... as ... were ... back ... the ..., when ... walkway ... under ... feet, ... we ... down ... hole. I'm banged ... sore. Ry... and ... twin ... are ... cold ... the ..., Ryder's ... pad ... damaged in ... fall, thankfully ... works... somewhat." Kayla said as the pups gasped in shock at what they could make out. (to answer your question, no. my older sister and I are in town for the day, and we met up with our brother Ryder and we were exploring a cave, and as we were heading back to the entrance, when the walkway collapsed under our feet, and we fell down a steep hole. I'm banged up and sore. Ryder and his twin sister are out cold from the fall, Ryder's pup pad was damaged in the fall, thankfully it works...somewhat.) It sounded like Ryder met up with his two siblings and were exploring a cave when they fell down a hole and are now hurt, and Ryder was out cold from the fall.
"Don't worry, Makayla, we will get the three of you out of there as soon as we can get to you." Chase said.
"Okay." She replied and ended the call.
"Alright, we have to save Ryder and his siblings, Marshal, I need you to come with me. They will need to be checked over for injuries." Chase said as he moved to stand where Ryder normally would.
"I'm fired up for a ruff-ruff recuse! They might have head wounds or just bumped their heads hard to blackout." Marshall said.
"Skye, I will need to borrow your harness to attach to my winch to pull them out." Chase said.
"This puppy's gonna fly! Even though I won't be able to help with getting them out." Skye said as everyone agreed.
"Rubble, Rocky, I might need you to clear a path and make sure nothing else falls as we get them out." Chase said.
"Green means go!" Rocky said.
"Rubble on the double!" said Rubble.
"Might want to call Everest. She and Jake can help get them out." Zuma commented as Chase agreed and turned towards the screen.
"Everest? You there?" Chase asked as he pressed a button on the computer to contact her.
"I'm here. What's up?" Everest asked as her image appeared on the screen.
"We need you to help us recuse Ryder and his two siblings, they fell down a deep hole in a cave they were exploring. His younger sister called up on his pup pad to tell us that they needed help." Chase explained.
"Oh no! Jake and I will be there to help, my sled is equipped with straps so we can hold a person down as I pull them up to safety." Everest said.
"Good, we will meet you there." Chase said, before ending the call.
"We should get Katie to help out as well, even if we just get her here to help Ryder feed us and himself depending on how badly hurt he is." Skye said, as Chase agreed and had Zuma and Skye call her once they headed out.
"Paw Patrol is on a roll!" the six pups said at the same time, as Chase, Rubble, Rocky and Marshall headed out to their vehicles to go recuse Ryder and his sisters.
"Makayla?! Can you hear us?!" Chase called as he got close to the hole in the walkway once they got to the cave where Ryder and his sisters were after Rubble made sure the path was clear and Rocky made sure nothing else would fall. Everest and Jake were waiting for them outside the cave when they arrived.
"I can hear you!" She called back as Chase looked over the edge and faintly saw Ryder and two females that had to be Ryder's sisters.
"Hang tight! We will get you out!" Chase said as he went back to his truck "Arf! Winch!"
Chase pulled the winch over to the hole and attached it to Skye's harness and Jake got in it so he could be lowered down to help Ryder's younger sister get her siblings into the sled to be pulled up to safety, he would hold onto Ryder's younger sister as they were pulled up, much like he had when he and Everest had met, and the paw patrol had met Everest after recusing them from an ice bridge that was crumbling underneath them.
"I'm Jake, I will help you get them and yourself out of here." Jake said once he got down to them.
"Ok, my name is Makayla, Kayla or Kay for short." She said as they got Ryder and his twin sister in the sled and strapped them down, Jake could tell that they were both hurt badly. Ryder was bleeding from a head wound.
"Hang on tight to me and we'll have the pups pull us out of here." Jake said.
"Okay." Kayla said as Jake picked her up and she held onto him as he said to do.
"Alright, pups! Pull us up!" Jake called up to them.
"Arf! Winch retract!" Chase said as it started to retract, pulling Jake and Makayla up.
"Ruff! Retract!" Everest said at the same time as Chase, so her sled would pull Ryder and his sister out of the hole.
"Ruff! X-ray." Marshall said once Ryder and his twin were out of the hole, "Looks like Ryder's left leg is broken, his right wrist is badly sprained, a couple of broken ribs, the head wound will need stitches, and maybe a concussion."
"That was a long drop, about 50 meters or so." Jake said once he and Makayla were out of the hole.
"Hmm, badly sprained right ankle, broken left arm, maybe a concussion as well." Marshall said as he checked Ryder's twin.
"My name is Marshall, and I will be taking your sister and Ryder to the hospital to have their injuries taken care of." He said as he walked up to Kayla to make sure she was fine; she was only bruised and sore.
"Okay." She replied.
"I will take Ryder's ATV back to the tower." Jake said as he did as he said he would.
"I'm Chase, this is Rocky, Rubble, and Everest. Kayla, you can ride with me as we head back to the lookout tower." Chase said as she agreed, and everyone headed off. Chase, Rocky, Rubble, Everest, and Jake headed back to the lookout while Marshall headed to the hospital after Jake got Ryder and his twin into his truck.
"Marshall! This is a surprise! What are you doing here?" asked Nurse Joy, she worked in the hospital and treated any injuries that the people of Adventure Bay got.
"Ryder and his twin sister were hurt when they and their little sister fell down a steep hole when the walkway gave out from under them. Ryder has a cut on his head that needs to be looked at, he also sprained his right wrist, broke his left leg and a couple of ribs, and his twin sprained her left ankle and broke her right arm. Plus, they are still out cold, they haven't woken up yet." Marshall explained when he ran ahead leaving the two in his truck.
"Well then, let's take a look at the cut and double-check their injuries, shall we?" Nurse Joy asked the pup and headed to where Ryder and Raya were still in Marshall's truck. Nurse Joy got them into the hospital and x-rayed both Ryder and his sister and stitched up the cut on Ryder's head while telling Marshall about concussions and what to do depending on how bad it was, Raya had a mild one, Ryder had a bad one. They would need to stay in the hospital overnight.
Meanwhile, Chase brought Kayla back to the lookout tower to wait for Marshall to return, hopefully with Ryder and his sister.
"This is the lookout tower, our vehicles turn into pup houses when we don't need to use them, they are where we sleep at night." Chase explained as he parked his vehicle/doghouse, and they got out and went inside.
"What's with the slide?" Kayla asked.
"That is how we get out of the tower when we have to go and help someone. We slide down it and land on top of/in our vehicles so we can rush off, if we don't need to, we just take the lift." Chase said as the lift brought them to the top where the other pups were waiting, along with Jake and Katie, who had come over as soon as she heard what had happened.
"Chase!" Zuma and Skye greeted him, Ruble, Rocky, and Everest had gone ahead and were at the top by the time Chase got up there with Kayla.
"Marshall took Ryder and his twin sister to the hospital; Ryder had a cut on his head that needed to be looked at by Nurse Joy." Chase said to them. "Kayla, this is Zuma, Skye, and Katie. Guys, this is Makayla, Ryder's little sister."
"Nice to meet you." The two pups greeted her.
"I will be helping Ryder take care of the pups while he is injured." Katie said.
"Thanks, you can call me Kayla or Kay for short. Chase has been telling me about the tower." Kayla said. "The pole is how Ryder gets out of the tower?"
"Yeah, if we have to save someone, otherwise he takes the lift as well." Skye said as Kayla nodded.
A while later they heard a vehicle approaching the tower and they went to the balcony and saw it was Marshall, they waited until he came up, and saw that he was alone. He told them that Ryder and his twin were still not awake and would be staying in the hospital overnight. Nurse Joy ordered Marshall home, and he promised to be back the next morning after breakfast. Everest was planning on staying at the lookout with the pups while Jake and Katie went home for the night.
The next morning when Katie arrived she found the seven pups curled up around Kayla, all of whom were still asleep, which made Katie chuckle at the sight.
"Morning." Chase said with a yawn as he stretched and stood up.
"Good morning, Chase. Why are all of you curled up around her?" Katie asked as Marshall sat up with a yawn.
"She was having trouble getting to sleep, worrying about her siblings." He said as he stretched and stood as the others started to wake up.
"I see, Everest, I brought a spare dish from home for you to use this morning." Katie said Everest had used Marshall's dish to eat her dinner while he was still at the hospital, watching Nurse Joy look over and patch up Ryder and his twin sister. Katie had then cleaned it and refilled it when Marshall came home so he could have his dinner as well.
"Thanks, Katie." Everest said as Kayla sat up yawning.
"Good Morning, Kayla. Sleep well?" Katie asked as she started feeding the pups.
"After the pups curled up around me, yes." Kayla said as she stood. "Do you want some help?"
"Sure." Katie said as Kayla helped give the pups their breakfast before making breakfast for Kayla as well.
Once finished Marshall headed back to the hospital, after grabbing the two bags of clothes that Katie put together for them, to see if Ryder and his twin were awake. Nurse Joy told him that they had woken up a few times during the night but had not been fully awake or aware of what was said, she had placed the two in the same room, under normal circumstances they would be in different rooms. Nurse Joy picked Marshall up and placed him on the bed with Ryder so he could be closer to the boy and put the call button near his paws so he could use it to call her when Ryder woke completely.
Ryder became aware of a weight next to him and of something or some pup, breathing on his arm, he moved his hand to the muzzle of the pup next to him. His movement caused the pup's tail to start wagging, hitting his leg, and a tongue to lick his hand. Feeling the ears and the hat he knew which pup it was.
"Marshall?" Ryder whispered; his throat was sore.
"I'm here, Ryder. You had us all worried." Marshall said as Ryder opened his eyes and looked around the hospital room, Marshall was on the bed with him, and his twin sister, Raya was in the other bed.
"Kayla?" he asked.
"She's back at the lookout tower with the others." Marshall said as he pressed the call button so Nurse Joy could come and look him over.
"But she is alright?" Raya asked, having woken up to the sound of Marshall answering Ryder's one-word questions.
"She's fine, bruised and sore but fine." Marshall replied as he looked between the two siblings.
"Why, how?" Ryder asked his fire/EMT pup, wanting to know how and why he and his twin were in the hospital, the last thing he remembered was the ground under their feet collapsing.
"Long story short, Kayla called us on your broken pup pad, Ryder. Chase, Rocky, Rubble, and I headed out as Jake and Everest met us there. Jake, using Skye's harness attached to Chase's winch, went down to help her get the two of you into Everest's sled, they got the three of you out, I checked you three over and Jake got the two of you into my vehicle and I brought you here while the others brought Kayla to the lookout." Marshall explained as Nurse Joy entered.
"Welcome back to the land of the living. Let's check you two over." She said as Marshall jumped down from the bed grabbed the two bags he had brought with him and placed them on the beds next to them.
"What's this?" Raya asked the pup.
"Katie pulled some of her clothes that she doesn't wear anymore so you can have clean clothes to wear, she also went into your room to grab you a change of clothes as well." Marshall answered looking at Raya and then at Ryder as he pointed to the bags with his paw as a male nurse entered carrying a tray of food for the two of them since it was about lunchtime anyway.
"Dave here will help Ryder dress while I help Raya, then the two of you can eat. Once done, you will be able to leave, I want to see you back here in about 5 days so I can check on and remove the stitches, Ryder." Nurse Joy said as the two nodded and she pulled the curtain that was between the beds to give the twins some privacy as they got changed.
Marshall took the time to step out and let the others know that they would be on their way back to the lookout soon.
"Chase? Can you hear me?" Marshall said as he turned his pup tag on.
"I'm here, Marshall." Chase's voice came over the pup tag.
"I've got good news. Ryder and Raya are awake, they are getting dressed and will eat the food one of the male nurses brought in before they can leave." Marshall told them and heard the sound of cheering from the other six pups since they were listening to what Marshall said.
"That is awesome, Kayla can't wait to see them, and Jake came down to see Everest and will be here to help get them out of your truck when you guys get back." Chase told him. Marshall said okay and ended the call as Dave and Nurse Joy stepped out of the room.
"They are currently eating; you can go back in." Nurse Joy said as she held the door open for him.
"Thanks for everything, Nurse Joy." Marshall said as he walked back into the room to wait for them to finish eating.
A while later everyone at the lookout heard a vehicle approaching the tower and they went to the balcony and saw it was Marshall with Ryder and his twin sister. Jake went down to help get Ryder and his twin sister out of Marshall's vehicle and bring them up to the control room.
"Ryder!" all six pups exclaimed happily when they got off the lift, Chase, Rocky, Rubble, and Everest were happy to see that Ryder was finally awake. They ran to him but stopped short since he was hurt, and they did not want to hurt him any more than he already was, making him smile, knowing why they stopped short.
"I'm okay pups. This is my twin sister, Raya, I call her Rei. Rei, this is Rocky, Chase, Skye, Zuma, Rubble, and Everest. She lives with Jake on the mountain." Ryder introduced as they all said hello before he sat on a bean bag and let the pups come to him so he could reassure them that he was alright. He knew that they stopped before they jumped on him and would have knocked him to the ground since he was hurt. They had done so before when he needed to be recused. "I knew I could count on you, pups."
"We were so worried we couldn't sleep. We ended up curling up with Kayla to sleep since she couldn't sleep either since she too was worried about the two of you." Skye told Ryder.
"Not surprising." Ryder said.
"We should be going; we had only planned on staying for the day." Raya said as Kayla agreed.
"If you are ever in town again, just yelp for help." Chase said, making Ryder and his siblings laugh, even thou for Ryder laughing was painful with broken ribs.
"We will." Kayla said Jake helped Ryder get back to his feet.
"What good pups." Ryder said.
"Keep in touch as always, Ry." Raya said.
"I will." Ryder said.
"It was nice meeting you, pups." Kayla said as Raya nodded, and the pups agreed before they gently hugged their brother and left the tower. Jake and Everest also left to head back to their home on the mountain, now that Ryder was back where he belonged.
"I will take your ATV and use it to get here and for when the pups need to head out on an emergency." Katie said after she arrived to feed the pups their dinner to found Ryder was back as well, she also noticed that Kayla was gone, the pups told her that when Marshall brought Ryder and his twin sister back to the lookout, Raya and Makayla had left to go home.
"I made the pendant she is wearing; it acts kind of like our pup tags, it has a camera in it that lets you see what she sees from the monitor here." Rocky told him as he pointed to Katie and the monitor.
"We kind of made her an honorary member of the paw patrol." Rubble said as Ryder nodded.
"And since you can't walk without help, you need someone to help you feed the pups and yourself." Katie said before she went to get food for the pups and Ryder as well before heading home for the night, with the promise to be back the next morning. The pups all chose to spend the night with Ryder since they had been worried about him.
Once Katie left the next morning after helping to feed him and the pups, Ryder sat outside watching the pups play, Rocky was the only pup who was not playing with the others. He was trying to see if he could fix Ryder's damaged pup pad, if he couldn't then he would just give Ryder a spare one they had, they always made sure to have a spare pup pad for him. Mr. Porter stopped by with lunch, he knew that Ryder had gotten hurt and would need some help feeding himself and the pups, plus he was bringing the Paw Pratol their bi-weekly shipment of kibble.
"Who's ready for some lunch?!" Mr. Porter called when he arrived, surprising Ryder.
"Mr. Porter? What are you doing here?" Ryder asked as Mr. Porter walked up to him.
"Katie stopped by my place this morning and asked me to stop by and make sure you got to eat something for lunch since you would need the help. When I heard that I had to ask why, she told me that Zuma and Skye called her and told her that you had been hurt and would need help taking care of the pups. Besides I would have been stopping by today anyway with your bi-weekly shipment of kibble." Mr. Porter explained.
"Thanks, Mr. Porter." Ryder said as he took the food Mr. Porter had brought him to eat.
"No problem, Ryder. Need anything before I continue with my deliveries?" he asked the young boy.
"No, Katie set up this chair, table, and blanket, so I can relax or take a nap. The pups can entertain themselves for the day. I just hope no emergency comes up; I won't be able to go with them, thankfully the pups decided to have Katie act as my replacement, at least until my leg heals. Although there is one thing, I didn't want to ask Katie, do you think you could stop by in the morning and evening to help me change my clothes?" Ryder explained as he indicated the chair he was in and the table next to him along with the blanket and pillows so he could take a nap if he wanted to without the need to go inside.
"Of course, I will help, I will stop by after breakfast and after dinner." Mr. Porter said before he started to put the shipment of kibble where he normally does before heading out after giving the pups their favorite pup treats, leaving one for Rocky with Ryder since the grey-colored pup was not outside. He would be stopping by every day with lunch for Ryder until his broken leg healed.
"Thanks, Mr. Porter." Ryder said before he started eating his lunch.
Two hours later Ryder moved to the blanket to take a nap, and just as he was dosing off he felt something fall onto his stomach and tongue licking his face. Opening his eyes, he saw it was Rocky.
"Rocky." Ryder said as he carefully moved to sit up, the pup backed away to let him do so and saw that his Pup Pad was in his lap.
"I fixed it, it was what I have been working on all this time. You should call Katie with it and see if it works properly." Rocky said, he lowered his head and had his butt in the air, looking like he was about to pounce on Ryder, tail wagging happily.
"All right let's see if it works. Katie? Katie, can you see me?" Ryder said as he smiled at Rocky before calling Katie.
"I see you, Ryder. Is everything alright?" Katie asked when she answered.
"Yes, everything is fine, Rocky is a good pup, he fixed my pup pad. It was damaged in the fall when I was injured yesterday, according to my sister Kayla, she was able to hear the pups, but not see them, it was the same for them, they could hear every other word she said but not see her." Ryder explained to her.
"Good to hear, I will be up in a couple of hours to make sure everyone has eaten dinner." Katie said.
"Alright." Ryder told her as she agreed, and they ended the call.
"You are such a good pup, Rocky." Ryder praised him as said pup crawled onto his lap for some cuddles. "Mr. Porter stopped by with lunch for me and our bi-weekly shipment of kibble, he gave a treat to the others, and I left yours on the table."
"Awesome!" Rocky said as he went to grab his treat, he earned it today, then went to join the others in the game they were playing, leaving Ryder free to go back to his nap that he interrupted.
Later that evening when it was nearing dinner time for the Paw Patrol, Katie arrived as promised to feed the pups and make sure that Ryder had eaten dinner as well. Thankfully that day had no emergencies crop up for them to handle and everyone was able to relax.
Four days later, after Katie had fed the Paw Patrol, Mr. Porter came and helped Ryder get dressed for the day at the beach since the town was holding its annual beach party. Mr. Porter was going to bring Jake, who came down along with Everest to join the beach party, and the pups to the paw patrol's beach tower headquarters while Marshall brought Ryder back to the hospital so Nurse Joy could remove the stitches, his sprained wrist had also healed by that point as well, though his broken leg would need a couple of months to heal, his ribs would take a couple of weeks. Once the two were done at the hospital they would head back to the lookout where Mr. Porter would pick them up and take them to the beach.
"Looking good, let's get these stitches out." Nurse Joy said before she set to work. "You have found a way to help the paw patrol out while staying behind?"
"Yes, Katie has been helping me take care of the pups, we made her an honorary member and she has been acting as my backup." Ryder told her.
"That's good, nothing major has cropped up?" she asked once she was finished.
"Thankfully no, the week has been quiet." Ryder explained as she nodded.
"Well, you are all set, the cuts all healed without scaring and I won't need to see you until you're ready to get the cast removed in a couple of months." Nurse Joy said as Ryder got up, Marshall stayed quiet by his side as the two talked, waiting until it was time to leave.
"Thanks, Nurse Joy." Marshall and Ryder said as they left.
"You're welcome." She replied with a smile.
Once back at the lookout, they got into Mr. Porter's van since he was waiting there for them, and headed to the beach tower. The seven pups were eager to get going so Ryder let them run ahead, it would take him longer to get there on crutches. Once Ryder, Jake, and Mr. Porter were about halfway there, they stopped since Ryder was struggling so Mr. Porter took the crutches from Ryder and Jake had him get on his back to carry him the rest of the way. By the time they got to the party, everyone was surprised to see Ryder was injured, and it seemed that besides the seven pups, Jake, Katie, and Mr. Porter knew what had happened to Ryder.
"Oh goodness me! Ryder, what happened to you?" Mayor Goodway asked once the boy was seated on a reclining beach chair.
"It's a long story, Mayor Goodway. First off, I have two sisters who live 3 hours away, so it is hard for us to see one another unless we plan to get together in advance, which is what we did five days ago. My twin sister, Raya, and our little sister Makayla met up with me at a cave near Big View Trail to go exploring in said cave, but as we were leaving said cave, the ground beneath our feet gave way and we fell...what 50 feet?" Ryder said as he looked at the crowd around him before looking at Jake.
"Just about 50 feet yes." Jake confirmed.
"Woah." Alex and Daring Danny X said at the same time that was a long drop.
"Then what happened?" Framer Yumi asked, getting back on track.
"Next thing I knew, I was in a hospital bed with Marshall next to me, and my twin sister Raya in the other bed in the same room and it was the next day. Marshall here quickly explained that my little sister Makayla had called the pups on my broken pup pad and got them and Jake to the hole in the cave where we had fallen and got us out and Jake and the pups brought Makayla and my ATV back to the lookout. Marshall got Raya and me to the hospital where Nurse Joy patched us up." Ryder explained with a small shrug as he scratched Marshall behind the ears since said pup was sitting beside him, close enough for Ryder to touch.
"He had broken his leg, broken five ribs, sprained his wrist, had a cut that needed stitches, and a concussion, his twin had sprained her ankle, bruised her ribs, broke her arm, and also had a concussion, their little sister had thankfully only got minor injuries, just some scrapes and scratches, and bruising." Marshall spoke up, revealing just how badly hurt Ryder was.
"Oh dear." Mayor Goodway said shocked.
"Apparently when they fell, they landed on top of one another, with Ryder on the bottom, his twin on top of him, and their little sister on top of her. When she called us, we couldn't see her and heard every other word she said, she couldn't see us, but she was able to hear us fine. Even with hearing every other word, we were able to figure out what happened. We called Everest and had her and Jake meet us at the cave to help us get them out, Zuma and Skye called Katie to let her know what happened and that we would need her help if only to feed us." Chase said.
"Once I learned what happened, had agreed to help, the pups then asked me to help them if an emergency came up since Ryder wouldn't be able to go out with them and I agreed, so now not only am I making sure that Ryder and the pups are eating, but they also made me an honorary member, so therefore I will be taking Ryder's spot until his broken leg heals." Katie said.
"You knew, Grandpa?" Alex asked his grandfather, having noticed that he had gone out after breakfast and after dinner for an hour or so before coming back for the past few days.
"I did, Katie had stopped by the store to ask me if I could bring Ryder some lunch, I would have found out anyway even if she hadn't stopped by since I was bringing their bi-weekly shipment of kibble. I also asked if there was anything he needed help with, the only thing he asked me to do besides bring him lunch was to help him change his clothes, at least until his ribs heal anyway." Mr. Porter explained.
"I had only just gotten the stitches removed this morning before we came here." Ryder added.
"Well, I'm glad you are alright." Mayor Goodway said as everyone agreed and wished him a speedy recovery before they moved away to enjoy the party.
Ryder knew that Carlos and Tracker would soon learn of what happened and his injuries, he also knew that the Princess and Earl of Barkingburg would also find out since he planned to go with the team to the jungle and Barkingburg, even though he wouldn't be running around with the pups.
When the call came in a month later from the Earl of Barkingburg, the throne, and Sweetie had gone missing...again. Ryder went with them to Barkingburg and stayed at the castle with the Earl and Princess while Katie and the pups searched for the throne and Sweetie, it turned out that Sweetie had taken the throne and the Air Patroller again, and she flew off towards the jungle where Carlos and Tracker were. The two were surprised to see Katie and not Ryder with the pups, Katie explained what happened to him and they heard his voice over the pendant that Katie wore, thankfully Big Hairy and Little Hairy helped stop Sweetie from taking off again. Sweetie had also wished him a speedy recovery after apologizing for causing trouble before the Paw Patrol left Barkingburg.
Mayor Humdinger found out when he needed to be rescued after he and his kittens swiped the paw patroller again and like Carlos, was surprised by the fact that it was Katie with the pups and not Ryder. Katie revealed that Ryder was fine, he was just recovering from the accident that occurred a month and a half ago where he had been badly injured, Mayor Humdinger wished Ryder a speedy recovery.
Sid Swashbuckle and Arrby found out that Ryder had been injured in an accident and was unable to join the pups when they would stop them from causing trouble out at sea. The pirates then wished Ryder a speedy recovery once they learned of Ryder's injuries, which surprised the paw patrol, Sid and Arrby also told Katie that it was nice to meet her before they sailed away.
Soon, a couple of months later Ryder was back at the hospital to finally get the cast off his leg, he knew that it would be a while before he could run normally again, at least until he built strength back in his leg. Once that happened he would been able to join the pups out in the field and drive his ATV around to help them on emergencies when they happened. He was thankful that Katie had agreed to help them out for the past couple of months and knew that if anything like that happened again she would step in to help.
