Summary: An adaptation of the My Little Pony episode "Flight to Cloud Castle" and a crossover episode of "The New Pizza Pie in the Sky" and "The League of DOS Heroes." Launchpad is ready to link back to his home, except there is one problem, his true love Air Force Captain Della Duck is under a sleeping spell in Magica's Flying Fortress. Captain Comic, Hocus Pocus, and Jill of the Jungle offer to use their magical abilities to help him. The catch? Launchpad think he has a magic allergy that affects his thinking.
The New Pizza Pie in the Sky: The League of DOS Heroes in Duckburg
Launchpad Unlimited, Duckburg
"Nice headquarters," galactic hero Captain Comic said to duck pilot Launchpad McQuack. "Very...minimalist."
"Let me guess, you make a penny a mile?" Amazon princess Jill of the Jungle asked.
"I used to," Launchpad said, "now I make a penny every two miles."
"Are you sure you don't want to work at Pizza Pie in the Sky for the rest of your life?" novice wizard Hocus Pocus asked. "The bartering you've done surpasses your paychecks in Duckburg."
"Technically, I could keep working there. No time passes in the world I am from. And besides, I know I need to help people change here, especially Mr. McD. But first I need to save...her."
"Della Duck," Comic, Jill and Hocus said in unison. Della Duck, Donald Duck's sister was the key to breaking Launchpad's crash curse, which would not only impress Scrooge McDuck but also might let him perform stunts for the family troupe he used to belong to, the Flying McQuacks.
"So where is this damsel in distress?" Comic asked.
"In Magica's Flying Fortress," Launchpad said. "The Air Force and other military branches tried to get into it, but they failed. Every time aircraft gets close to it, the fortress would teleport."
"Maybe I can warp you there with a Warp Potion," Hocus suggested.
"Or perhaps there is a door on Earth that can send you to the fortress," Comic added.
"If only it were that simple." Launchpad said. "Didn't I tell you about my magic allergy?"
"No, you didn't tell me about your magic allergy," Hocus said "I wouldn't have come here if I had known, me being a wizard and all."
"Atrus sent us here, and he certainly would have told us," Comic said. "You never got around to telling him either, did you?"
"See? It's already starting. Maybe my mushroom allergy medicine will help. It may be hard to tell with mental symptoms, though."
"Launchpad, are you sure that these are allergy symptoms?" Jill asked. "Because you seemed to be thinking normally every time you warp with the Linking Books. It could just be because Magica is a threat and therefore it's harder for you to know how to counter her."
"Hmm. Now that you mention it, that could be the reason. However, Magica wasn't responsible for all the magic I've experienced in my world, and for some unexplainable reason, I'm usually absent whenever Mr. McD is dealing with something involving magic."
"Could it have something to do with the curse that Poe De Spell placed on you?" Hocus asked. "Perhaps he made you repellant to magic so that you would be unable to reverse the curse."
"Maybe I could blame my stupidity on that."
"Don't be too hard on yourself, Launchpad."
"Mr. McD also told me about other situations where I was absent. He said that they were logic problems that either I was too dumb to solve or schemes I was too smart to fall for."
"See, Launchpad? Scrooge sees some intelligence in you after all,"
"Very well, I'll go up, for Della and Duckburg."
"So, do you know anything else about the Flying Fortress?" Jill asked.
"I know that Poe is there, and she got her hands on some Pokémon to guard Della.
"Do you know which Pokémon?"
"No. There are so many Pokémon, I can't keep track of them all."
"Well, I can transform into a phoenix, a frog and a fish," Jill said. "That should come in handy against certain Pokémon. Plus I have a knife and a blade which are like Steel-Type attacks."
"And I can shoot lightning," Hocus said. "Electric attacks are super-effective against Water and Flying Types."
"And I can shoot fireballs," Comic said.
"You may not believe this, but I have an idea how we can get into the fortress. But first, everybody make sure you bring your elven cloaks."
The four heroes looked into their bigger-on-the-inside D'ni sacks. The elven cloaks the Hobbits from The Lord of the Rings universe lent them were indeed in them. The cloaks had the ability to make the wearer invisible. Then they put the cloaks back into their D'ni sacks and used Launchpad's Descriptive Book of his world to warp onto an aircraft carrier.
Admiral Grimitz's Ship
"How did you civilians get on my ship? Duck, take them away.
"Aye-aye, Admiral," seaman Donald Duck said sadly. He knew Launchpad and was hesitant to take him away.
"I'm not a civilian, I'm a Captain," Captain Comic corrected.
"Of which branch?"
"Good question," Comic said.
Jill shook her head. "And I am a princess."
"I'm a wizard," Hocus said."
"I'm a pilot," Launchpad said, "which you already knew."
"What are you doing back, 'civilian pilot'?"
"We came to rescue Donald's sister Della."
"Then let them stay, sir," Donald said. "Please? It's my sister, after all"
"What did he say?" the admiral asked.
"He said, 'Then let them stay sir. Please?' It's my sister after all," Launchpad repeated. "I mean his sister."
"Very well. What is it you want me to do?"
"Lend us the top secret project I crashed into the last time I was here."
"Oh, no. Anything but that!"
"But it's for Della, and Duckburg, and our country."
"Fine. We've actually been working on a bigger one that can seat five, but I won't allow you to fly it."
"I will," Comic volunteered. "Didn't you know I was a pilot, too?"
"Not until just now," Launchpad said.
Admiral Grimitz showed the four heroes where the plane with the ability to turn invisible was.
"The Captain needs to put a special uniform and goggles in order to see the controls after the plane turns invisible," the Admiral said.
"Ooh!" Comic put on the uniform and turned invisible.
"I only have the one uniform," the admiral said.
"That's okay, sir. Launchpad and Hocus, put on your Elven cloaks."
The four heroes turned invisible, and the plane took off.
The Moat Outside of Magica's Flying Fortress
"A Ludicolo appeared!" Launchpad said. A tricky dual-Type of Water and Grass
The Ludicolo used Bubble Beam. Hocus fired lightning bullets at Ludicolo. Comic threw fireballs. Jill didn't attack. Eventually the Ludicolo fainted.
"Now's our chance," Jill said. Then she drank a red potion, transforming her into a phoenix. "I can take one of you at a time. Launchpad first so he can have time to find Della." So Launchpad grabbed onto phoenix Jill's legs. Jill lifted Launchpad over the wall
However, another Pokémon spotted Jill and Launchpad, Salazzle, a Fire/Poison Type.
"I'll try a flying maneuver since fire and steel aren't that effective against it," Jill said. After several attempts Jill said, "No good. I'll get Hocus, you... hide?" Launchpad was already hidden. He put his Elven cloak back on. Jill flew back over the wall, then she returned with Hocus. Hocus fired lightning at the Salazzle. Eventually the Salazzle fainted. Then Jill flew back over the wall to get Comic.
While still wearing the cloak, Launchpad told the others that he found Della. Jill transformed back to her normal form, and she, Hocus and Comic put their Elven cloaks back on.
Della's Bedroom, Magica's Flying Fortress
With great success, the four heroes snuck into the room Della was kept in.
"So how do you awaken her from the spell?" Jill asked.
"I need to splash her with water from my sink."
"I assume you have it with you."
"I do, in this canteen," Launchpad opened his canteen, and splashed Della with the water. Della shot up, gasped, and then slapped Launchpad.
"Ow!" Launchpad said.
"Where am I? And who are you?" Della asked
"You're in Magica De Spell's Flying Fortress, I'm Launchpad McQuack, and I just broke a spell you were under. We need to get out quickly." But they weren't quite quick enough. There was Magica and the two Pokémon the heroes battled earlier.
"Ludicolo, Salazzle attack!" Magica commanded, but as they were about to, Della used some judo on the Pokémon and on Magica.
The Pokémon fainted again, and Magica squirmed and then fell on the ground.
"I had...no idea...you were such...a threat," Magica said and remained still on the ground.
"Woah!" said Jill. "Hey, Della, can you give me some combat tips?"
"Later, lady, but like Launchpad said, we need to get out of here."
So Comic flew the invisible jet back to the aircraft carrier, Comic, Hocus and Jill linked back to their worlds, and Launchpad and Donald talked with Della.
"Aw, sis, it's so great to see you again," Donald said.
"You, too, bro," Della said. "How are the boys?"
"They're doing well. They're living with Uncle Scrooge now."
"Uncle Scrooge?! That miserly tightwad of a cheapskate?"
"Well, he was the relative who lives closest to us, and I do send Huey, Dewey and Louie their allowance."
"That's good, at least."
"So, Della, Launchpad said, "did you want to have dinner with me?"
"Are you sure you can afford it?" Della asked him.
"It's bartered for pizza and salad from an interdimensional restaurant I work at."
"Then I'm in!"
"Great!"
And so Launchpad and Della linked to the world of TaleSpin where they had peppeoni pizza and a tossed salad. The twosome were surprised as to how much they had in common. Then Atrus (from the computer game series Myst and the manager of Pizza Pie in the Sky) came over to their table to ask Della a question.
"Hello, Della. I was wondering, how would you like to accompany Launchpad on quests where you'll travel to other dimensions?"
"Really? I love Launchpad...I mean adventure," Della said.
"You mean it?" Launchpad asked.
"Yes, I do..." Della said, "...to both."
THE END
