Luz and Amity laid under the covers on opposite sides of the bed in Amity's hotel room. Both of them were panting heavily, a smile swept across their face. After catching her breath, Luz let out a very satisfied sigh. "I never thought I'd feel anything like this again."

"What?" Amity glanced over at her blissfully. "You didn't meet any other girls while you were on the road?"

"Other people," Luz corrected. "I did go out on the occasional date. A guy here, a gal there. Some of them were fans of my channel, and I sure wasn't gonna turn down a free meal once my debts began piling up...but I never had anything physical...or meaningful...with anybody."

"You really couldn't get over me, huh?"

"That was definitely part of it. No matter how lonely I got, even though I knew-...believed I would never see you again, anything more than a hug or a kiss felt like too much of a betrayal. And even if it wasn't, I spent years thinking I wasn't allowed to be happy until I could atone for my mistakes...so I couldn't get too close to someone else even if I wanted to."

"And now?"

"I'm not sure what I deserve, but I'm done sabotaging my own life and making myself sad. It's time to focus on my own well being for a change." Luz rolled over so she could look Amity in the eye. "Will you help me with that?"

"Gladly, my love." Amity placed a hand on Luz's cheek, then planted a kiss on her forehead. "Ready for another go?"

Luz giggles were cut short by a yawn. "Ask me again in the morning." She nudged herself closer to Amity and placed an arm over her chest. "Buenas noches, amada," said Luz planting one more kiss on her girlfriend's lips.

"Goodnight, Luz de mi vida." Amity embraced Luz, and the two women drifted off to sleep.

The following afternoon, as Camila drove Amity to the airport, Luz filled them in on what the future had in store for her. Camila enrolled her into Gravesfield's Community College, and she'd be starting in the upcoming semester. She was also getting a job at the library to start paying off her credit card debt thanks to Vee, Masha, and their old friends from Reality Check Camp. "...so my road tripping days are over for the time being."

"It's gonna be a while before I can move out of Cali, but just remember that I'll be visiting again soon...and often."

"And I'm always gonna be here, waiting for you come back."

"Is that a promise, Luz?"

"It's more than a promise." Stringbean floated in place between them, her head following Luz's finger as she made a circle with it, remaining stationary after the loop. Luz then pulled Amity's hand into the ring her Palisman created, until both their hands were in the center. "It's an Everlasting Oath."

Amity smiled widely at her girlfriend, and heard a stifled sob from Camila in the driver's seat. Judging from what she could see in the rearview mirror, the older woman was on the verge of tears, but overjoyed to see her daughter's new lease on life and their relationship renewed.

Camila pulled up to the gate and stopped the car. The three women got out and the Nocedas helped Amity with her luggage.

"Thanks for the ride," she said to Camila

"Thank you for being there for my daughter," replied Camila, giving the witch a big warm hug. "You will always be welcome in our home."

Then, Amity turned to Luz. "Even if we can't see each other for a while, you can always call me if you need to talk about anything...no matter what time it is."

"Sure thing. See you round, Hermosa."

The witch pulled her girlfriend into a tight embrace, and then felt Luz put her own arms around her. "I love you. Don't ever forget that again."

"I won't...and I love you too."

The young couple shared one last long kiss, eventually pulling apart as Amity had to get inside. Luz kept her eyes on her girlfriend for a bit, waving goodbye before she and Camila had to get back in the car. "Are you okay, mija?"

Luz then realized she was crying again, but wiped her tears away with a smile and turned to Camila. "Yeah, Mom. I'm fine."

After making her way through customs, Amity sat in the terminal and pulled a small box out of her pocket. She took a quick look at the ring inside. "Next time, Noceda," the witch said with a smile, "when we're both ready." Amity snapped the box shut and returned it safely to her pocket, then patiently waited for her flight to commence boarding.
