Chapter One

Today was the start of a brand-new term and academic year at Waterloo Road Comp. The playground was alive with the buzz of a new school year and the prospects it brought with it.

Rachel Fleet, formally known as Miss Mason, parked in her designated parking space.

"Feels strange being back," she admitted as she got out of the car

She glanced up at the familiar building of Waterloo Road. It was a place that held so many memories for her, good and bad. She had laughed and cried here. At one point she'd nearly lost her life in the maze of corridors. Some of the best moments of her life had happened at Waterloo Road, and some of the darkest too.

"Wouldn't change it though, would you? " Adam replied, getting out of the car.

"No, no I wouldn't. " Rachel smiled, swinging her handbag onto her shoulder

It was the truth, she wouldn't change anything that had happened to her in the last few years. Because it had made her the person she was today. Every tear, every heartbreak, and every happy memory had led her to Adam, the love of her life. It had led her to her friends and colleagues Kim, Steph, and Chris, the only friends she'd had in her life. She loved working at Waterloo Road, she loved the kids, and the staff, and she was content with her life. Everything was perfect and she couldn't have wished for more.

"Yoo-hoo!!"

Adam and Rachel turned to see Steph and Kim walking towards them from across the car park. They smiled.

Rachel ran over to the two of them, wrapping them both in a hug. She hadn't seen them since her wedding. They had a lot to catch up on!

"Oooh, look at the lovely Mrs Fleet! You look great!" Kim exclaimed

"You'd look great if you had a handsome husband like that!" Steph argued, nodding at Adam

Rachel giggled

"So, how was the honeymoon? I want to know everything!" Steph added

"It was absolutely perfect!" Rachel smiled

The honeymoon had been absolutely wonderful, everything Rachel and Adam had wanted and more.

Rachel and Adam had spent two blissful weeks in Italy, with the sun beating down on them. They'd walked hand in hand along the historic streets of Rome, admiring the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum and visiting the various museums. They'd dined in endless restaurants, with delicious homemade food, watching the sun go down on their way back to their hotel. They'd spent endless evenings on the balcony of their room, stargazing with a glass of wine in hand.

"And the food!" Adam exclaimed, excitedly.

All three women laughed.

"Honey, you promised. " Rachel laughed at her husband.

"Darling, what can I say? It's in my blood. " He smiled back.

"Back to the daily grind, eh?" Steph smirked, looking at them.

"Do we have to?" Adam joked, playfully rolling his eyes.

Rachel nudged him playfully.

"There is Tom and Chris. I'm going to say hello." Adam informed the group, giving his new wife a tender kiss before leaving.

"Is he as good in bed as he is in the kitchen?" Steph cheekily asked, giving her friend a smirk.

"Steph!" Kim laughed.

Steph sought a cheeky glance at his backside

"Not bad in a pair of jeans either. " She smirked.

"Both lengths in equal measures Steph, and this lady isn't complaining. " Rachel smirked back at her.

Kim burst out laughing and Steph stared at her open-mouthed. That Wasn't what she was expecting from Rachel at all.
