A/N: Don't own the characters or the show. Just eternally playing in their sandbox with all their toys. Also, this fic is from a prompt list (don't remember which one) over on Tumblr that theshadowsedges submitted the prompt, "You should stay," for me to write for. Hope y'all enjoy what I've come up with. Enjoy.
You Should Stay
Andy was currently packing up his stuff to return home after being cleared medically to return to normal activities.
As Sharon stood in the doorway watching him wordlessly, she realized that she felt sad about Andy leaving.
She'd gotten so used to seeing him when she got home every night or on the occasional weekend Major Crimes might have off.
Used to getting a hello kiss when she walked through the door.
Used to cuddling with him on the couch at night as they watched TV or a movie.
Used to him sleeping in her condo, but unfortunately in separate bedrooms.
That part they could fix though now that Andy had been medically cleared to resume normal activities.
Before this all happened and Andy had to temporarily move in with her, Sharon hadn't been sure if she was ready to take that next step in her relationship with Andy.
Mostly, it was nerves and being a bit insecure about how her body might look to him after having had two kids.
Sure, she worked out regularly and ate pretty healthy, but as she'd gotten older, things just weren't the same as they'd been thirty years ago.
Her breasts weren't as perky and lifted as they'd once been. Especially after having breastfed two babies.
Her stomach wasn't as flat as it had been thirty years ago.
Then there was down south.
Menopause had caused a certain level of vaginal dryness.
She didn't even know if sex with Andy was possible.
She hadn't been with anyone since she'd gone through menopause.
There were all these unknowns and before Andy's accident, she'd feared every single one of them.
Between talks with Andrea over copious amounts of wine and Andrea helping her restock her lingerie drawer, Sharon didn't feel so scared of the unknowns anymore.
She knew Andy and knew his heart inside and out at this point.
Sure, there would be some logistics to figure out, but she was confident that between the two of them, they'd figure it out.
As she smiled at the thought in the doorway, Andy cleared his throat and asked, "How long have you been standing there?"
"A couple minutes or so," said Sharon as she came into the room and began helping Andy fold his shirts to go in his duffel bag.
Why was she helping him pack when the last thing she wanted was for him to go?
Sharon stopped in the middle of folding one of Andy's shirts and set it on the bed next to his duffel bag and began pacing.
"Something wrong?" asked Andy.
"No…Actually kind of…in fact, yes there is," Sharon finally admitted.
Andy set another one of his shirts on the bed and went to pull Sharon towards him as he said, "Talk to me."
"You should stay," Sharon blurted out awkwardly.
Andy was a bit taken aback by her suggestion, but quickly schooled his features as he gently said, "Well, the kid probably hates me enough for having taken up residence in his room for this long. Probably not what he expected when he offered it up in the first place."
"Rusty can have his room back," stated Sharon.
"So, you're saying you'd want me to stay on the couch?" asked Andy densely.
"No," replied Sharon.
"Sharon Raydor, are you propositioning me?" Andy asked her.
"No. All I'm saying is that you should stay. That is, if you want to," replied Sharon unsurely, fearing she'd gotten the signals wrong.
"So, just so we're clear, you're inviting me into your bed and your home, right?" asked Andy.
"You don't have to if you don't want to," replied Sharon as she fidgeted nervously and looked down at her feet.
Andy propped her chin back up until they were staring into each other's eyes as he said, "Yes."
"Yes?" asked Sharon.
"Yes. I'd love to move in with you and sleep next to you every night," replied Andy.
Sharon's face broke into the biggest smile Andy had ever seen.
He knew what it must have taken Sharon to even ask for something like this.
After all, she was an independent modern woman.
So, to say this had been shocking to say the least, was an understatement.
She wanted him here.
That thought made Andy smile and he lifted her off the ground slightly and into his arms and kissed her fervently.
Eventually, Sharon broke the kiss and asked sultrily, "You know what else you've been cleared for?"
Andy smiled at the implication and smiled as he said, "So, you were propositioning me."
"Maybe. Only if you wanna be propositioned though," replied Sharon leadingly, her and Andy's lips mere inches from one another.
"Oh. I've been waiting for this moment for months. You better believe I wanna be propositioned by you," said Andy.
"Good," replied Sharon before she kissed him.
