Disclaimer: I don't own Spyro.

"Well it's been a busy day!" Spyro murmured wearily. "Time for this dragon to get some sleep!"

The small purple reptile yawned and lay comfortably down on the grass. He curled up in preparing to slumber in the moonlight shining over the land of Artisans. Sparx perched onto one of Spyro's horns. The little golden dragonfly was preparing to sleep close to his best friend in case he ever needed protecting from any potential threats.

"Goodnight, Sparx," Spyro whispered.

"Bzzzzz!" Sparx buzzed in reply.

"Goodnight, Teddy."

"Bzzzzz?"

Sparx gave a confused buzz. He had no idea who Spyro was talking to. He jumped off the dragon's horn and hovered in the air in front of him - where he managed to find out his answer.

Clutched in Spyro's hold was a teddy bear. It was held close to him with his front two legs wrapped around it. It had light brown fur, beady black eyes and a smile stitched across its face.

"What?!" Spyro frowned at the way Sparx was staring at what he was holding. "Is there something wrong with a dragon taking a teddy bear to bed?"

Sparx shook his head. He had no problem with what his closest friend chose to do for his bedtime. He was merely surprised that for all his snarky, tough guy attitude, Spyro didn't seem like the sort of dragon to sleep with a stuff animal.

"Good!" Spyro smiled, gazing down at the bear. "I always like to take a sweet little teddy to bed with me - so I can do this…"

At that moment, Spyro pressed his foot down onto the bear's tummy. He took hold of one of its ears with his teeth inside his mouth - before ripping its head off of its body.

"Bzzzzz!" Sparx buzzed in great shock at what the little dragon was doing to his teddy bear.

"And this…"

Spyro put the bear's head down to one side - before blasting a shower of golden flames from his mouth all over its body.

Sparx' eyes widened, overflowing with disbelief at the sight of his best pal torching a harmless soft toy.

"As well as this…"

Spyro picked up the bear's head by bitting into its ear again. As it dangled from his mouth, his spun it around and around. He smirked as he toyed with the stuffed animal he was torturing before throwing it away from him.

Sparx watched as the head landed in a nearby pile - which the dragonfly was astounded to see was made up of the heads of other teddy bears. They were all looking a sorry state, clearly having been decapitated and toasted by the young purple dragon.

"And now I'm ready to go to sleep."

Spyro rested his head onto the ground, closing his eyes contently. He was ready for a good night's rest. His plans for the next day were to go to Dragon Shores. He hopes to win a new teddy on the midway games to replace his last one - and put it through the very same brutal bedtime routine.

"'Night, Sparx!"

Spyro drifted happily to sleep, but Sparx remained wide away. He gazed down at the little dragon before turning towards the pile of heads belonging to the teddy bears he'd destroyed. The dragonfly buzzed in disgust. It wasn't as if these soft toys were causing trouble or stealing treasure. He didn't see why his best friend had to behead and burn them.

What Sparx didn't consider for a moment was that what Spyro put his teddy bears through was no different to what he did to the sheep living in Artisans. He was always delighted to see the tough little dragon charge at and toast these innocent animals to release butterflies for his dragonfly sidekick to eat.
