He couldn't do this anymore. Maybe Omori was right. The only way to escape was to escape everything. He would no longer be a bother, he would tell them the truth (as to not burden Basil) and then no one would have to worry about him.

… This was his fault. Now he would join his sister.

Kel walked out of Faraway hospital, his mind still clouded from the previous events. His stumble out the doors drew a few looks, but he noticed that most were looking at something on the floor a few meters away from him.

{10 minutes earlier…}

Sunny had told them. He told them everything, and he didn't know how to take it. Hero had stormed out, shoving the eye patched boy to the ground and he had to physically restrain Aubrey to avoid another hospital bill. She too has run out in tears.

By this time, Basil had woken up. He guessed it was the commotion that awoke him. He had a look on his face that Kel couldn't put a finger on. He turned around to see Sunny back on his feet… With… A smile? That concept was almost foreign to him, but he could tell that it was fake, even if he hadn't seen a real one in years.

"You two are the best friends anyone could ask for, you know that, right?" Sunny tilted his head slightly " I have somewhere to be, but say bye to everyone for me, alright?" At the moment Kel got a bad feeling in his stomach. "-I… What?" he tried. But Sunny was already at the staircase.

"Oh and, Basil? I'll let you know if she forgives us." Basil's eyes widened into saucers and his breathing suddenly became sporadic. He was hyperventilating. "... S-sunny… No-o… Do-Don't…" Kel rushed to his side and called for a doctor. This was bad. Who was forgiving Basil? As far as he was aware, he couldn't hurt someone if he tried to.

{Present…}

Kel went over to see what the commotion was about. Doctors said that Basil shouldn't be awake for another hour or so, so he could make a… Slight… Detour. What. The. Hell. A mangled corpse was splattered on the floor, barely recognisable. One arm was twisted behind their back, one leg had bone coming out its flesh, its sharp point had obviously pierced their lower abdomen. Blood covered most, if not all of the person's body. But what disgusted Kel more was that these people were taking pictures.

But then he looked at the head. He should not have looked at the head. The head was twisted completely backwards, so they were facing him. A blood stained eyepatch covered their right eye and the boy's left eyelid had been ripped off, blood red irises staring back at him. Kel felt like throwing up. That… that was Sunny.

Everything clicked in that moment for Kel. From the strange flashes of red he thought he saw from his friends barely open eyes when scared, to what had been said in the hospital.

With shaking legs he sprinted into the crowd, his usually laid back demeanour gone as he shoved onlookers out of the way. "SUNNY!" he screamed as he knelt down to check for a pulse, though he didn't know why. Deep down he knew that no one could be alive in such a state. He scrambled for his phone and dialled the newly reformed group chat. No one picked up. Furious, he put a message in to chat.

'FUCKING PICK UP!' Apparently seeing Kel swear through text was enough to motivate Hero and Aubrey to pick up, even though they were obviously still in a… Sour mood. '... Kel this better be fucking impo-' she was cutt off by Kel sobbing harder than she had heard since… Since Mari… Hero took the initiative "Bro, calm down and tell me what's going on. Just breathe."

"I-I can't. It's-it's S-Sunny! He… H-He… can I v-video call…?" Now obviously thinking he had done something worse, Aubrey responded, "WHAT THE FUCK DID HE DO?! TURN ON THE VIDEO."

He turned it on.

The silence was deafening. None of the three knew what to say. Kel watched as Aubrey's eyes grew wide and wet with tears as she threw her phone across the park. However, Kel noticed a pure white light in the distance. A split second later, it engulfed all of them.

Sunny woke up with a headache to his sister at the side of his bed. "Wake up sleepyhead," she teased, "the performance is tomorrow so we need to have as much time to practice as we can!" she smiled brightly at him as he sat up in bed " get dressed and come down for breakfast, today it's bacon and toast!" Sunny put on a smile for his sister 'great, more practice with that stupid violin… But… something feels… wrong.' "Okay Mari see you in five!"

Be laid back down as his sister left the room, 'it's probably nothing, let's just get today over with.' he thought, though he did notice his headache was getting progressively worse as time went by.

{5pm the same day…}

He was done with today. The goddamn headache. Painkillers, water, sleep, no matter what he did it would not just go away. It was already affecting his playing and he could tell Mari had noticed and was getting worried. It was when he played an eighth wrong note he sapped. He ran out of the room and up the stairs, his sister calling out to him.

His sister was next to him before he knew it and was gently asking what was wrong. Pissed off at this headache, the violin, his sister and generally the world at that moment, he raised his arms above his head, preparing to throw the instrument down the stairs.

Suddenly, he froze, which both relieved and worried his bewildered sister. "Okay, Sunny-" she was cut off by a blood curdling scream escaping the smaller boy's lips as he fell to his knees, clutching his head in agony. He felt as if his head was on fire, like a computer that had long since overheated. He felt his brain reaching for something like a memory… but not, as if it shouldn't be there.

Then, the fog lifted and he remembered(?) the next/previous four years. His eyes widened in fear as he remembered how today went. He scrambled backwards from his sister, giving her a look at his eyes. She blinked twice, not really sure what to say, "ermm… Sunny…? Why are you so scared? It's just me."

She thought she heard him say something, but she must've been mistaken as what she thought he said made no sense, literally. It was a jumbled mess of words that went something like "Mari, sorry, stairs, murderer, sorry, whitespace, Kel, Aubrey, Basil, Mari, sorry, Basil, Mari, Mari, sorry, I'm so sorry, I… I…" suddenly he ran up to her and hugged her tightly "I love you…" however, he almost toppled her over with the force. Panicking, he pulled her back so that she landed on top of him.

He breathed a sigh of relief, but also cried tears of guilt as he almost made the same mistake twice. Pushing her off of himself he stood up quickly and ran into his room, quickly blocking it with whatever he could find. He found a pen and some paper and wrote her a letter before gathering some things into his backpack before opening his window and carefully stepping outside.

Mari was scared. Sunny had been acting strange all day, then he ran out of practice, seemingly had a mental breakdown, then shut himself in his room, which, although normal that by itself, he had blocked the door to stop her from getting in. She knew that he wasn't exactly an open book, but this had put her off. She called Hero to explain the situation and asked for his help getting the door open, to which he agreed but explained he had a slight headache so he'll come over in five after some paracetamol. 'Why does everyone have a headache…'

Aubrey wasn't acting herself and she knew it. She had a dream, and somehow, it scared her more than her usual nightmares she had. She couldn't remember it very well but she knew that she had to go to Sunny's house. She wasn't sure how, but she just knew that something was wro-"OOF!". Apparently, while lost in her inner monologue, she had collided with something, or rather, someone.

She opened her eyes to see herself lying on top of the very person she was looking for. Now, normally, being in such a position would have caused her to blush, if not for the fact that she noticed Sunny's dishevelled hair and clothes as well as the backpack and red, puffy eyes ending in tear streaks. And… an image of her dream, one that felt far too real. A mangled corpse of her friend. Though… He Looked… Older.

'No. It was just a bad dream. But… He looks awful…' as embarrassing as it was, she hugged him tightly, but to her surprise, he seemed scared of… Something behind her. She looked back, confused as to what he was seeing, only to be horrified at what she saw. If only for a brief second, she somewhat saw the absolute shambles of her red eyed friend.

Terrified, she lept off him, but just as his touch left, so did the entity. "S-S-Sunny… Wh-What the hell was that?!" she demanded, shook to her core," B-because whatever that is, it's not normal. Talk to me Sunny. I don't know what's going on with you but you're clearly not okay."

"I-I'm fi- A-argh!" Aubrey looked on in disbelief as her friend's form flickered to a black and white version of himself, wearing a tank top. He stood in his new form, though in pain if his facial expression was anything to go by, and reached into his short's pocket and pulled out a steak knife. "S-Sunny…?" she slowly backed away from the monotone boy as he slowly raised his knife to her throat. "... My name is Omori," but he suddenly stumbled backwards, clutching his head, "No it is NOT. Omori stop! We aren't in headspace right now! Even if we were, why- argh! Why are you attacking Aubrey of all people?" There was a pause in his speech. "She has not betrayed us! That's, like, four years from now!"

Much to Aubrey's relief, his form flickered back to its normal state, being a black hoodie and brown joggers, which, now that she thought about it, was a bit uncharacteristic of him. "... Taiyo?" he looked back at her with fear in his eyes"... You need to stay away. I'm sorry for all the trouble I'm causing."he walked towards her and hugged her, all the while she was frozen in shock.

He had never been a confident person, not particularly touchy either. He very rarely instigated contact, let alone a hug. She didn't like where this was going. "... Why…. Why does it sound like you're saying goodbye…? P-please don't say that…" He pulled back, smiling at her slyly "Okay then…. See ya!"

He bolted away but before she could follow, someone grabbed her shoulder "Hey Aubrey! Who were you talking t- wait, why are you crying!" Kel pulled her in for a hug as she tried to escape "NO! Kel let me go!" he just hugged her tighter "No need for the tough girl act, just let it out…"

"No you don't get it, I- WE need to go after him! If we don't, he won't come back!" she screamed as she ripped herself from his grasp, her dark hair a mess." I… What?" Kel asked, now both intrigued and confused "Who?"

But it was too late as Aubrey had already dashed in the same direction that sunny had gone.

Mari, Hero, Aubrey, Kel and Basil all sat in Mari's living room, with a dismal aura surrounding the room. "so, uh, why are we here?" Basil questioned, quietly stroking Mewo who lay on his lap. "Yea, you all look like you've been crying. Is this about that person, Aubrey?" The girl hesitated before glancing at Mari, who was currently clutching a piece of paper in her hands with an empty look in her eyes, before nodding her head "yea… think so."

"By the way, where's Sunny? " Basil asked innocently, "if it's that important then he should be included in this, no?" The two boys who were in the dark saw all three others suddenly tense up, and they felt their stomach knot in their stomachs. "Wait… no no… no…" Kel sank "what's happened?" Basil asked

Mari took in a deep, shaky breath and began "I… Don't know when this started. This being… his way of thinking. Well… The performance is tomorrow right? So I went to go and wake him up, because you know how he is, if you don't give him a reason to… Haha… Well anyway he seemed uncomfortable, like he had a headache….but I ignored it. That was my first mistake. Throughout breakfast I saw him drink more water than usual and he even had some pain killers… But apparently that didn't help him as he continued to become more restless. He started making mistakes during practice and… He-He kept throwing me these glances… like he thought it was my fault. It was around the sixth mistake, I think, that he… well… snapped. He stormed out obviously angry at… Whatever it was. I followed him up the stairs, and I thought he was going to his room… But he didn't. I tried to calm him down as we stood at the top of the stairs… but… The look he gave me… Was awful. Then, he faced the stairs and raised the violin over his head, like he was going to throw it." a gasp escaped the three younger one's lips, " Yea… B-But then… He-He… it looked like a mental breakdown… It was terrifying… I can still hear the agony in his scream… And… It was like a switch was flipped. He was… Scared of me, a-and he was mumbling something about… Stairs, Basil, Me a lot, a lot of apologies, something called whitespace and… Murder."

All the others felt a sharp pain in the back of their heads, but Mari didn't notice, too engrossed in her own story "But then he told me he loved me! He hugged me as well… A little too hard though. He made me stumble, even! Though he did run into his room after that. I-I called Hero for help because he had blocked the door. He did come and help… But…" Tears started rolling down her face as she put the piece of paper in front of the three." I… Was… Late…" Hero gloomily said, consoling the older girl. The others hesitantly read the paper.

I'm sorry for leaving like this but I don't want this to be harder than it has to be. If I stay I'll only end up hurting you all again. By this time, if you're reading this, I suspect Basil has remembered what I did. What we did. I doubt Mari will ever remember, Basil knows why. The rest of you will as well once you remember. I'm sorry to burden you with a secret once again Basil, you never deserved any of this. Once you all Know, you won't want me coming back. I hope you all live fulfilling lives.

I love you all, Sunny

P.S. Sorry I let you down for the performance Mari. Oh, and I'm all for you and Aubrey dying your hair. You both would look nice with it:)

Aubrey was crying silently as she reread the note. 'Half of this doesn't make any sense. How does he know about the hair dying? The 'would' is over the top of something rubbed out. Hurt us again? Has he hurt us before? And why is so much of it directed at Basil?' she looked over to Basil, who was having a panic attack, being consoled by Kel, who was also crying.

She dropped the paper to go give them a hug, but her hands came away red, and her heart sank. "M-M-Mari…!" she squeaked, shaking. She heard rustling of clothes, then a gasp and some hands grabbed her own as she looked on in horror. "Aubrey, how did you cut your hands!?"

"I-I didn't… this blood is on the paper. How did you not s-see…" Kel, Mari and Hero all exchanged a look, Basil still being too busy trying to breath. "I don't know what you're seeing, but that paper is clean." Mari took the paper close to her face, trying to prove her point.

Mari found the paper being snatched away from her grasp as she saw Aubrey looking in horror at the back of the paper. She saw writing, but in red ink. Red ink. Thank god, she thought it was Sunny's blood. Realizing no one else could see it, she began to read out loud.

Hello there. There is no real point in writing this, as it's not like anyone other than Sunny can read this, but he won't. He's too scared. After the Mari incident and the Aubrey incident, he no longer trusts me as much as he did. Even when I kept him company in whitespace for years, helped him forget, hone his skills… so ungrateful. To whoever may find this, somehow, go to the left of the stairs and feel around for a doorknob. It leads to an emergency entrance for white space.

See you there;)

Omori

P.S. Hero: please pet Mewo for me

Kel: if Hero finds out about the incident, try to restrain him please. I'd rather not have to hurt him

Basil: don't be afraid to tell the truth.

Aubrey: definitely dye your hair pink, Sunny loves it like that (he thinks it's cute)

Mari: I am technically your brother, so I love you and miss you.

Aubrey chose not to read out hers. Though, if Sunny likes it… "Who the hell is Omori? Do any of you know him, Aubrey, how can you read that and he's my… brother?" Mari was shooting questions like a gun.

"I…" Aubrey whispered under her breath, catching everyone's attention. "You… What Aubrey?"

"I… Met him earlier. I'd rather not talk about it, but… I think he… Technically is. He… Wasn't the friendliest… Hero?" She asked for his attention. "You're becoming a doctor, right?". He looked surprised by her question, as if not expecting her to ask that. "I- yeah, but how'd you know? Unless Mari told you," He glanced at her, who had her eyebrows raised at the other girl, " who clearly hasn't, you shouldn't know that." Aubrey just shrugged, not sure either.

Basil tugged at Aubrey's arm, silently asking her to talk. She nodded as followed him into the dining room.

"What do you know?" The flower boy asked, unusually sternly, "He did that thing again, didn't he? When he… turns." He then sounded nervous, hoping he hadn't revealed a secret. Aubrey took a second to process the information he had just handed her, then she asked "Wait… he's done that before!? How could we have missed that!" she put her hands on her face "I'm a terrible friend!"

Basil did a sigh of relief while shaking his hands "No, no, you're a great friend, Aubrey! He, well, technically hasn't but I've seen it… twice. The first time was… was…" Aubrey heard him say something about being brave, then he shakily continued. "was when Mari… died…"

As soon as he uttered those words, a splitting headache coursed through both their minds… and they both fainted.

Aubrey…

It's been four years since I last saw that , and he's barely changed in the slightest.

"I… what?" both of the children said in sync. Both stood in a seemingly endless, dark room. The only light coming from two round windows, both stood in front of one. The sound of a voice could be heard in the background.

Ever since Mari… went, he didn't come out of that fucking house even once. He never came out to see if we were okay, and he didn't even bother to call, message or even write for fucks sake. And NOW he comes out with Kel, all buddy-buddy, acting like nothing even happened! And now, just 'cause I knocked flower fuck out, they're picking a FIGHT!? I'll fukin' give it to' em' if they want it.

~ Past perspective~

"We're really doing this, huh?" She looked at Kel's face, which was as stern as hers, "well you fucking asked for it!". Aubrey charged forwards as the Hooligans cheered her on in the background, riling her up even more (well, Maverick was doing a speech about how great she was, but those are just details). Kel threw his basketball at her as hard as he could, but Aubrey swung her bat at it and one of the nails punctured it, resulting in a loud pop.

'Damn, Kel's attack whiffed. What's up with his outfit by the way? It's different from normal. I'll ask later.' Feeling his steak knife in his pocket, he readied his counter attack on the 'unknown enemy' 'I wonder why Hero and Aubrey aren't in our party?'

Rather than hitting Kel with her bat, which he predicted and tried to doge, instead swept his legs from under him, putting him out of commission. Then she turned to Sunny, scowling "Come on then, you gonna fight, or you gonna run with your tail between your legs?" She saw Sunny narrow his eyes, and a switch flipped in her 'What… this isn't the sunny I know and- you know what? Never mind. Sorry for this, Taiyo' Switch flipped back, she started to stride towards him.

'Taking out Kel with one hit… he's the second highest level on the team, only second to me. Looks like this is a sort of mini boss. Guess I'll have to go all out.' Sunny grew Ecstatic at the upcoming battle, and a creepy smile started on his face 'I can't explain it, but this feels so much more REAL!'. The smile only grew on his face as he pulled out his knife. His eyes shone blood red as he stood forwards.

The pinkette stopped in her tracks, staring wide eyed at her opponent 'No… somethings definitely wrong. His eyes are glowing! What kinda bullshit is that. And…' "Is that a fucking knife?!" Not responding, the boy practically flew through the air at her, slashing his knife in a downwards-diagonal motion.

Instincts immediately kicking in, Aubrey raised her bat to block, only to be met with fucking sparks as Sunny's knife smashed through one of the nails, stopping at the second. "Holy shit!" she cried out as she stumbled backwards with the force of the impact. Half of the hooligans backed away in fear, while others stood still, shocked. A sudden crackle caught their attention as heat suddenly sprouted from a pile of dried leaves. "Shit, the sparks!" Kim shouted, panicking "someone call the fire department!"

Aubrey regained her footing slightly too late as Sunny disarmed her, throwing her weapon into the fire which was now behind him. "H-hold on, Sunny! Calm down! I'm sorry, okay!"

Barely registering her plea, the boy tackled her to the ground, knocking them both over. By the time Aubrey had looked back at him, he was already on top of her. She might be delusional, but she could've sworn he wasn't wearing a tank top earlier.

Omori raised his knife, about to strike her in her heart, and her life flashed before her eyes. However, before the boy could bring down his knife, Kel swiped it from his grasp. "Sunny, what the actual hell are you doing! I know Aubrey shouldn't have done it, but freaking killing her?! Why do you even have a knife to begin with?"

Sunny, who was back to his normal self, stopped glaring at him and looked around, half excited, the other half confused and concerned. "Wait, Aubrey's here? Where? What did she do?"

Aubrey felt her heart break. He… he didn't recognise her. She knew she had changed but the fact he was about to kill her, when he didn't recognise her, but was excited to see what he thought was her made her contemplate herself a little as the sound of sirens wailed in the background…

~Basil / Aubrey perspective~

"I… this is why it smelled of smoke when I woke up?" Basil asked, shocked at the power his friend held. "Yea… I remember it now…"

Memories kept playing, not all in order, until (what Basil assumed was) her last one played. "This is while I was still knocked out, right?"

They saw her storm out of the hospital, sprint to the park (still complete with slightly charred trees) and sit on the swings. No internal thoughts could be heard, only one question "why…".

The phone rang. She picked up. Kel was panicking, bawling even. The image turned on.

Sunny's mangled corpse was shown to two young children. Although they had the memories worth sixteen years, they still only had the mental fortitude of a twelve year old. The scene burned into their minds as Basil threw up and Aubrey screamed while tears welled up in her eyes. "Awful, isn't it?" a voice called from behind. A shiver ran down their spine as they turned around, only to see a shadow with bright white eyes. He was barely visible due to the darkness of the place.

"Hello Aubrey, Basil…" His voice sounded almost like static, fuzzy yet grainy "Oh… it seems you are waking up now… don't tell the others about me, but strange things will start appearing soon. I will do my best to contain the larger threats for now, until you retrieve the Dreamer, but small threats may still appear. I am entrusting you two with the duty of protecting his loved ones."

"Okay, first off mister, who are you?" Aubrey started "What do you mean protect?" Basil continued "And why us?" They both finished. "Well, some of this is Basil's fault anyway, so he has to take responsibility." Basil looked down, ashamed "And you because, if I am correct, now that you have your memories back, you remember how to swing that bat, yes?" He confirmed with Aubrey, who nodded her head.

"Oh, and while you have to go now, should we meet again, you can call me Stranger." He waved as a sharp coldness took hold of their faces, and their eyes shot open.

Hello peoples! I know that what you expected was not a new fic, but an update on the previous one, and I will get round to it, just not now. Felt like doing an Omori fic, and doing something a little different, so here is this! You can probably already guess the plot, but I wanted to try something longer than I would normally do, so let me know if it's OK! Anyway, some quick notes.

1. I honestly don't know how I'll explain the beginning, but as usual, I'll wing it ;). I know it helps to have guidelines, but I personally find it would limit my creativity.

2. As you probably guessed, the ship will almost definitely be Sunburn, but there will be drama.

3. I wanted a nickname for Sunny, and Taiyo (I wright on google docs on my phone, so I can't add the '-' thing) means 'sun' in Japanese, and it sounded cute soooo...

4. Let me know if I got any cannon details wrong, as I'll admit, I've never played the game. I plan to though!

I may not post often, but I'll try to keep it up! See you next time!:)
