Topic: [THREAD LOCKED] SAB Shakeup?

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

It looks like everyone's favorite precog has overstepped!

A cape source of mine recently confirmed that there has been a major bit of drama over on SAB!

The big brouhaha started after a local Brockton Bay villain named Skidmark died a little less than a week ago.

While everyone knows cape-on-cape violence is a thing, this time the dead cape in question was a subscriber to SAB! After a few subscribers pressed Edition about the cape's death, our precog admitted that she did nothing to warn him about his upcoming demise!

Was this a sign that Edition really isn't as all-knowing as she appears?

Nope.

Instead of admitting any sort of blindspot, Edition put out a statement that said Skidmark violated SAB's terms of service, and she let him die!

That's right people! Edition let this guy die simply because he didn't follow the terms of her little web portal! She put out some kind of longer statement a bit later, but it might be time for us to re-evaluate whether she's really the neutral-rogue we all thought she was!

Wow.

Never mind. If violating the ToS of SAB leads to your death, I sure as hell don't want to be on it.

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

OMFG! Seriously?

@Edition is this true?

GstringGirl

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

I don't believe it. @Edition has helped so many people. Who told you this?

Nowhere_Man

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Why is this in World Events? Can a moderator move this?

Reave (Verified PRT Agent)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Oh man, Bagrat, you kicked the hornets' nest this time.

Iblis

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Be careful there, Bagrat, your jealousy is showing. Still can't get onto SAB, can you?

Answer Key

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Wait, Skidmark was on SAB?

So many questions.

Bagrat (Original Poster) (Veteran Member) (The Guy in the Know)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

I think this fits in World Events, Nowhere_man. Edition has a worldwide impact so news about SAB should also be considered global

Iblis, I am not jealous. This has nothing to do with my lack of access to SAB and everything to do with the fact that Edition is apparently willing to let her customers die if they violate her ToS!

Brocktonite03 (Veteran Member)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Yeah, I'm not sure what Skidmark did, but it's Skidmark. He probably deserved it.

That said, the merchants have fallen into some serious infighting lately. Both Squealer and Mush took about a quarter of the gang while the rest have just vanished. Hope the protectorate can round them up quickly.

Saskatchew

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Wait, Bagrat, what ToS did Skidmark violate?

Sothoth

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

If this is true, Edition might actually be a villain! If that's the case, what will the protectorate do?

All_Seeing_Eye

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Right.

Let me save everyone the drama, a friend of a friend has SAB access and the statement that Bagrat glossed over?

Apparently, Skidmark was plotting to kill edition.

So, Bagrat, should we all feel bad that Edition didn't save the life of the villainous drug dealer that was trying to kill him/her?

Nod

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Oh, wow.

If that's true, wow. I mean, how stupid do you have to be to plot to kill a precog?

Deadman

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Well, damn.

I had this whole spiel written up about how Edition was evil and blah blah blah.

But now, pssh.

Guy tried to kill Edition, Bagrat, story is not a story.

Bagrat (Original Poster) (Veteran Member) (The Guy in the Know)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

All_Seeing_Eye, not to call your source into question, but do you have any evidence? My source refused to comment on what Skidmark did?

BlueBerries_Are_Best_Berries

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

I love it! Try to take on Edition and die!

Iblis

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Yeah, I'm calling shenanigans on Bagrat here.

Jealous Bagrat is Jealous.

All_Seeing_Eye

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Well, MY source passed along part of Edition's statement. I don't want to get them banned from SAB though since the ToS are pretty strict about reposting information onto PHO.

The fact that the PRT and Protectorate haven't been up in arms about her service the last few days should be enough to lend credence to the theory that Skidmark overstepped though.

Forenza

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Yeah, I don't see the PRT forgiving Edition playing god unless there was a good reason.

I'm with Iblis. Bagrat is jealous and starting shit.

ArchmageEin

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Shit stirring, Bagrat?

I expect better from you!

Bagrat (Original Poster) (Veteran Member) (The Guy in the Know)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Guys this was a real story! The fact that it took days for this information to get out just goes to show how much sway Edition has over the cape community!

Brilliger (Moderator: Protectorate Main)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Okay, I am locking this thread.

Bagrat, please do not post information about SAB in world events any longer. Information about Edition should be put in the Brockton Bay boards from hereonin.

Lastly, please do not post rampant speculation like this. Consider yourself warned.

Edition (Original Poster) (Verified Cape) (Verified PreCog) (SAB Queen)

Posted On Feb 16th 2011:

PROTECTORATE REGIONAL NEWS UPDATE:

Arlington

In one of the largest and most heavily coordinated raids in Texas history, PRT TXA will capture over 200 unpowered gang members, 950 kilos, and detain over 100 commercial vehicles used in the national methamphetamine distribution network.

While the PRT TXA will achieve most of their strategic goals, the villains Tinfoil and Scurge will evade capture. With most of their network undone, they will make plans to leave the state.

Freedom

Independent villain Preacher will release two subordinated individuals at 11:35 am Pacific time. Upon reaching the PRT corridor, they will claim to have escaped from his compound and are seeking refuge. The two will exhibit no signs of master influence under class 1 or 2 protocols.

After receiving permission from PRT Assistant Director Swearinger, the two will be taken to a secure medical detainment facility. At 1:24 pm, Dragon will be called in to administer a class 3 master/stranger analysis.

Upon being challenged with suspicious results, the two will react violently - with one subject chewing through her own arm to free herself of handcuffs. The two victims will eventually die of acute blood loss from their attempts to reach and kill the nearest PRT Troopers.

As a result, Preacher will gain basic knowledge of the PRT's Master Stranger class 3 protocols.

[Location not disclosed]

Cinderhands has agreed to act as Marquis' second in command of cellblock A in a nonviolent leadership assimilation.

Miami

Protectorate hero Scratch will engage the independent villain Weatherman at the Dade County Aquarium. Weatherman will shatter the largest tank with a gun and then use his shaker power to manipulate the water before being detained. 23 injured, 5 dead.

Update: Causality changed by Subscriber, future changed.

New Orleans

Entergy corporation will have it's Lake Pontchartrain pipeline destroyed in a daring daylight attack by the environmental group "Mother Earth." The group will be assisted by a recently triggered cape "GroundSwell" who will attempt to use her terrakinesis to stop the pipeline from connecting to the greater Mississippi distribution network.

Groundswell's attempt to shift the pipeline will result in a rupture, leading to 250 barrels of oil a minute rushing out into Lake Pontchartrain, resulting in one of the worst cape-caused environmental disasters in American history.

Update: Causality changed by Subscriber, future changed.

Vancouver

Protectorate WNW will be attacked by a disaffected cell of The Elite at 1:35 pm Pacific time. Lead by a heavily disguised Assimilator, the attack and bombing raids will result in the deaths of 42 PRT staffers, the hero Micron, and PRT WNW Director David Rodgers.

Responding to the perceived aggression by The Elite, Protectorate branches across the west coast will coordinate several raids on Elite holdings by 10 PM Pacific, killing Elite members Fulbright, Gorgon, Rumination, Timber, and Voracious and severely wounding Bastard Son.

As a result of the Protectorate and PRT attacks, Assimilator will be able to consolidate control of the Vancouver Elite, extending his influence as far east as Edmonton and South to Portland. He will purge those with ties to The Gentlemen, Bastard Son, and Uppercrust, making him one of the most influential parahuman villains in the country.

As of Midnight Pacific, Assimilator will christen his new group "Omega" and decry the recent violence of The Elite.

Update: Causality changed by Subscriber, future changed.

Unsurprisingly the Elite are more than willing to shell out millions for information leading to Assimilator's head.

Also, Assimilator's not on SAB, soooo, yeah, he's boned. The only question is how hard the rest of the Elite will be coming down on him.

Edit: Tattletale isn't touching this one. Heads are literally going to roll here.

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

That traitorous back-stabbing little bitch will be dealt with by the Elite. Keep out of it!

Satyr (Verified Cape)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

You know we cannot do that. There is no reason to escalate. The PRT is aware of what Assimilator has planned, and we will deal with him appropriately.

The_Gentleman (The Elite)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

While I am more willing to allow our worthwhile friends in the Protectorate to deal with minor hiccups when they arise, this is no trifling matter.

Assimilator sought to build his new empire on the bodies of loyal capes. This cannot be permitted.

Uppercrust (The Elite)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Agreed.

As an organization, we can tolerate different leadership styles, but permitting Assimilator to kill loyal members while setting us against the Protectorate cannot be allowed.

Accord (Verified Cape)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Widespread gang warfare in Vancouver could have an extremely disparate impact on the economy of the pacific northwest. Kill Assimilator quietly, and do not let it get out of hand.

Uppermost (The Elite)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

@Accord, Don't tell us how to do our job.

We will handle it as we see fit.

Accord (Verified Cape)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Then act as is appropriate, and do not cause more chaos than Assimilator's actions would!

Bastard Son (The Elite)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Do you see us coming to Boston and telling you how to run your shit hole of a city?

No?

Then shut the fuck up and let us handle our business.

Citrine (Ambassador)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

What could you possibly tell Accord about improving a city? How to better blow shit up and ruin an economy?

Kelvin (Los Narcos)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

So much senseless bickering. We had no idea The Elite was so fractured when we decided to sell directly to Assimilator.

Chevalier (Verified Cape)

The Protectorate will not back down on this. We will be bringing Assimilator to justice, not The Elite.

Accord (Verified Cape)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

This is so needless.

@Legend, ask the Chief Director to sign a kill order for Assimilator or we risk widespread chaos as The Elite, Protectorate, and however many capes Assimilator has under his command all fight each other. A kill order solves this problem as it no longer matters who ends the man.

Uppercrust (The Elite)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

We would support a kill order on Assimilator.

Bastard Son (The Elite)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Speak for yourself, Uppercrust. I don't give two shits if the fucker has a kill order or not. If we take him alive, I call dibs on splitting his head like a fucking melon.

Chevalier (Verified Cape)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

As everyone here knows, kill orders are not something the PRT or Protectorate request lightly.

@Accord, we will not be issuing a kill order based upon Edition's prophecy, no matter how accurate or extensive her track record might be.

D. Rodgers (PRT WNW)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

I have formally put in a request for a kill order on Assimilator.

Chevalier, I understand the distastefulness of killing someone for acts they have not yet taken; however, in the interest of public safety, I felt obligated to make the request, knowing that it will almost certainly be denied.

Rook (Red Hand)

Replied On Feb 16th 2011:

Yeah, I'm gona go on record saying that someone getting a kill order based on Edition's word to be fucking terrifying.

No offense @Edition, but that kind of power is way too scary.
