Zinnia reblogged re0nniee MARSelo:

Since people seem to be FORGETTING how much Piper has done to help the community I'm here to make a info dump on all of his more recent activities that everyone is conveniently ignoring

Okay so before I start I want to address a few things:

1. DespitewhatsomepeoplearesayingPiperhasNOTstoppedpatrolling, thoughhisactivity did drop for a while after the Acro incident for what I assume is safety reasons, but he is back up to his regular activity levels

2. PiperisSTILLpatrollingthemoreatriskneighborhoodsthatheroestendtoavoid, the videos of the Acro incident placed Piper in a lower risk area that is usually patrolled by quite a few heroes which is what I assume fueled the clash. This is an area that is rather far from where Piper's assumed patrol areas usually are and since the incident he has not been sighted anywhere near areas with a higher density of heroes

3. PiperhasNEVERinstigatedafightwithheroesorpolice,THEYhavealwaysprovokedhim first do NOT let anyone try and tell you otherwise

Alright, now to get into Piper's recent activities:

So it's only been a little over a month since the Acro incident, but already Piper has been accredited with saving forty eight people,

[Image 1: Piper carrying two children beneath his arms out of a small house fire .]

[Image 2: Depiction of a man being shielded by Piper in the face of a rampaging villain .]

[Image 3: A grainy photograph of a figure that seems to be Pied Piper, hauling a teen back up the

edge of a building .]

Reports also imply that Piper tipped off local police to the presence of a small sex trafficking ring, giving both the location and name of one of the executives. This information was used to capture 4 front runners of the ring as well as a dozen other accomplices. Police and heroes were able to rescue 17 adults and 6 teenagers. You can check out the news report here and donate here to help the victims.

His other known recent accomplishments include:

-Pulling a drunk man out of the road

-Rescuing a kidnapped child

-Busting a large scale drug operation

-Stopping three different robberies in progress

-Helping usher civilians to safety during a destructive hero vs villain fight -And stopping an attempted arson

Please keep all of these things in mind the next time Piper is on the news for clashing with heroes or police because it's very likely that the fight happened at all was because he was attempting to either save someone's life or aiding in the incarceration of criminals

Also go check these investigative channels on Youtube, they've covered the drop in crime levels in the areas Piper has been patrolling. LilacMinds was the account that originally sent me on my Piper info quest. Two other channels, WINTERBIRDLARK and Dippy Does also helped provide me with a lot of information on some of the less reported incidents relating to Piper.

cud-zoo0:

you said piper has never instigated fights with the police during the whole "Acro incident" you're referring to, but he literally tackled a police officer hard enough to give him a concussion during that

iamaseagull:

That police officer you're talking about also pulled a weapon on him, Piper was provoked into acting against him, nothing would've happened if he hadn't felt threatened, plus this post was mainly about how many people Piper has SAVED since that incident. A lot of the people he's helped might not be alive right now if it wasn't for him

#pied piper #vigilante pied piper #this is a longer post but please read it if you have the time #it

Midoriya lays sprawled across his bed, still dressed in his school uniform.

UA's principal was known for his intelligence quirk. It made him far smarter than the average person. And more than anything it's that intelligence that Midoriya fears.

There's nothing in their meeting that should have given him away. But he'll need to lay low from here on out, live a quiet life and disappear into the crowd so he won't draw the principal's attention ever again. He can't afford to.

But, the idea of the sports festival resurfaces, lighting a fire inside him. He couldn't afford to give himself away during any of the events. And yet, proving himself during the sports festival would take everything he has. Everyone would be giving it their all, and he couldn't afford to do any different if he wanted to make it into the hero course.

He rolls over in bed, studying his faded All Might posters in the afternoon light. Is it such a crime to dream of being a hero? "Would you tell me I could do it?" He asks one poster, tracing the outline of the hero's silhouette with his eyes. "Would you tell me I could be a hero?"

His first day at UA seems like a weak accomplishment after having experienced it for himself, but his mother is instant on celebrating. They eat out that night, a rare treat that he feels guilty indulging in. Inko tells their waitress that it's his birthday, cheeks lightly flushed with unpracticed mischief. Izuku reddens at the workers that gather around their table to sing him happy birthday, but they laugh with each other afterwards, bellies topped off with a free slice of chocolate cake.

Upon returning home he resigns himself to what homework he has, exchanging a few texts with Reo about dinner here and there. He turns in as early as he dares. He feels exhausted, but his mind keeps him awake, spilling burning vitriol down his ears. He does his best to drown it out, forcing his mind to other thoughts. In the end he analyzes Best Jeanist's quirk in his head until finally he falls asleep.

He wakes for his patrol later than anticipated, UA had taking more out of him than he'd realized. He shakes the sleep from his limbs, stretching as he dresses in his gear. The start of school marks the steady rise of temperatures, but the nights still remain cool enough to continue using his winter gear. He splashes a bit of cold water on his face in the kitchen to wake himself up before slipping his mask on over his head. There's a quiet staticky hum as he switches it on.

Even if Midoriya couldn't prove himself, Piper could do it for him.

Waking up the morning after his patrol is hell. His back aches from a tumble he'd taken off a shipping container and judging from the sharp pain near his liver, he must've pulled something again while fighting.

If possible he feels more exhausted than he had been going to sleep.

He takes a shower, washing the grime off his body. His vest had helped distribute some of the bruise worthy impact from last night's fall, but he's still left with a decent sized bruise maring his lower back. He studies it in the fogged mirror, the trail he'd cleared on it with his hand slowly clouding over again, obscuring the palette of midnight blues and purple painting his skin.

He sighs, letting his eyes fall closed. "I'll need to be careful changing for gym."

He meets Reo at their train again, his tie in no better condition than it had been yesterday. Reo teases him for it for a good ten minutes before finally having mercy and helping the boy fix it. They talk vaguely about his most recent patrol, the older teen wincing sympathetically when he tells him about his injuries.

"You think you'll be okay?"

"I've had worse," Izuku laughs tiredly as their train glides to a stop, the crowd gently swaying on their feet.

They exit with the rest of the UA students, noise rising as friends meet up with one another. It's because of this that Midoriya and Reo, who are towards the back of the pack, miss their sudden approach to the group of reporters crowding the school's front gate.

They're immediately swarmed by press the moment they get close enough.

"Can you tell us anything about the class All Might will be teaching!"

"What's it like having the number one hero as a teacher?"

"Do you know when All Might arrives at school?"

Midoriya freezes up beneath the cameras and microphones, fear swelling hotly between his ribs. Something presses into his lower back and he hisses in discomfort.

"All Might's not here today," a voice rises from further behind him. "Now leave, you're interrupting our classes. You'll have the principal to answer to if any of the students are late."

Eraserhead pushes gently past them, crowd parting before him. Reo pulls Izuku along behind him, following the path the teacher carved out as those further within the crowd continue to shout questions at them.

It isn't until they've made it safely through the gates that Midoriya fully understands the questions they'd been asking. Izuku slows to a stop in the middle of the hall, Reo turning to look back at him in confusion.

Izuku only stares at him with wide eyes. "All Might's a teacher here," he breathes.

Reo takes a moment to process this friend's awe before an amused smile tugs at his lips. "Evidently."

By the end of homeroom his shock has worn away into excitement. He talks animatedly of the discovery between classes, not necessarily with Shinsou, but more at him. Though by the end of

first period his excitement has filtered down into watery nervousness. With All Might joining UA's staff that makes three teachers that he's met as Piper. Of the three heroes, All Might is the one least likely to recognize him, not simply because he doubts he'll see the man in a close enough setting, but because the hero undoubtedly meets hundreds of people in a single day. All Might's short interaction with what he had assumed was just another small time hero would have been easily forgotten. But, that didn't prevent the "what ifs".

Snipe calls on him during one of these "what if" moments and Midoriya has to embarrassedly ask him to repeat the question.

"I was asking if you knew when Japan first began passing laws on quirk discrimination." The boy flushes. "2153."

The teacher nods, turning back towards the board. "Correct. Now Akamine, can you name one of the leaders that spearheaded this movement?"

Third period dawns like the tolling of a death bell. Another round of physical exertion in front of Eraserhead giving Midoriya an immediate sense of anxiety, drowning out any precious thoughts on the number one hero. The real threat is one he's facing now. Even if P.E. at UA would be no different than it had been at Aldera Izuku doubts that he'll ever be able to fully let his guard down around the seasoned hero.

He changes his shirt with his back to the lockers, hiding his bruised skin, but in doing so exposes the scars littering his stomach and chest. He can't avoid the stares of his classmates, greedy eyes taking what they can from him, coming to their own conclusions about what they've seen.

They don't say anything though. No one ever does.

Once everyone's changed Eraserhead splits them into two groups and lets them have free reign of the basketball court. There's too many of them for it to be a proper match, but his teammates actually rely on him throughout the match. Despite Aizawa's presence he actually has fun with it. They might judge him for his scars and his muttering and his anxiety. But they're looking at him. They're seeing him for what he has rather than what he lacks. He doesn't know how long it will last, but he'll enjoy these moment until then.

A teammate high fives him with a smile. "Nice job!"

A foreign feeling builds wildly in his chest. "You too," Izuku laughs.

He leaves the locker room on cloud nine, a smile permanently sewed into his lips. He meets Reo back at the classroom letting the older teen lead the way to the cafeteria. It's as crowded as it was the last time, but it doesn't bother him as much as it had yesterday. Even Bakugou's distant shouting isn't enough to ruin the giddiness he feels shining in his chest. They sit at the same table as before though this time he makes sure to sit himself directly across from Shinsou.

Midoriya greets him with one of the brighter smiles Reo's seen. "Hi! I didn't get to introduce you yesterday, but this is my friend Tsukauchi Reo. "

Shinsou nods warily, staring between the two.

"Reo's a third year in the support department. And Reo this is Shinsou, one of my classmates." "Nice to meet you," Reo smile.

The older teen is happy to see Izuku so excited about something. It's been awhile since he'd seen those excited flashes of supernovas lighting up his eyes. But, he can't help but worry. Reo knows how prejudiced people are, even if they don't realize it themselves. And he doubts the boy across from him knows anything about Midoriya's quirklessness just yet.

Izuku's strong, but without a quirk very few would be able to see what he has past what he's missing. He wonders what side Shinsou will fall on.

Amber eyes meet violet. He sends out a silent plea. "Don't hurt him."

There's no response.

They're halfway through eating their food when an alarm sounds, piercing right through their small talk. It's whine deafens them. Reo looks around with wide eyes, glancing back at the other two. "We need to go," he says, quickly pushing himself up and abandoning his meal. Around them other students are doing the same, yelling at one another and making a mad scramble for the exit.

Midoriya grabs at the back of Reo's jacket, stopping him before he can disappear into the crowd. "Calm down! What's the alarm for?" He makes sure Shinsou stays where he is as well despite the obvious tension in the teen's shoulders.

"It means someone's infiltrated the school!"

Izuku tenses, eye's hardening with resolve. "If this is real then right now we're safer here than trying to beat the crowd. We run the risk of getting trampled or trampling someone else. We have no idea who infiltrated the school or where they've come in from." He can feel Piper's mind rising to meet his needs, steadying his racing heart. He's been through worse, been put under higher stress than this. "I doubt the school will leave us blind for long, but until then we need to assess what's happening." He glances behind him at the windows. "If we can get a look outside we might be

able to see something."

And Reo can see it, one of the rare times where Midoriya slips into that vigilante mindset in front of him. He trusts his friend with this, trusts him more than he trusts himself. Shinsou is less inclined to this sort of blind faith, but still follows when Izuku leads them opposite of the exit, peering out the back windows.

"Anything out there?" Reo asks warily.

"Not that I can see." Izuku glances towards the windows on the other side of the room. "We'll check the ones facing the front and see if there's anything out there. If there's nothing then we'll follow behind the crowd and help anyone that's been injured in the rush."

They pick their way through the scattered tables and chairs, weaving through the mess until they

reach the windows. It's here that they find the answers to their questions. "It's the press," Shinsou whispers, obviously relieved.

Midoriya scowls, cursing, "They're putting people in danger for no reason, just because they want an exclusive on All Might? And what's the school doing with the alarm still going? They should've made some sort of an announcement by now."

Unseen to any of them a boy windmills over the crowd in the hall, calming them with reassurance that the intruders are no one dangerous.

But, Midoriya stares out the window a little longer, eyes taking in the half destroyed gate. Those walls are three feet thick and made of an assortment of tempered metals. It's destruction wasn't an accident.

He wonders which reporter had been so desperate to get that inside scoop. (He does not know he's pondering the wrong questions.)

The alarm finally dies out and Izuku shakes his head, guiding the other two back to their seats where he continues eating. They don't say anything to each other.

Midoriya's been through plenty of worse situations, but Reo and Shinsou have not. Even if the alarm has been false, their fear has been very real. This much is obvious by the way they pick at their cooling food, watching students trickle back to their seats to connect their things.

They garner a few strange looks from those nearby. Izuku pays them no attention, mood still soured by the selfishness of the press being ushered out of UA's courtyard.

Eventually there is an announcement, but it's far too late for it to be of any real use. as the bell for the end of lunch rings not long after.

But, in the hoard of people heading back to their classes a voice goes up behind him. "It's you!" There's a hand that lands on his shoulder and Midoriya has to prevent himself from reacting too violently, still somewhat on edge. The person must notice the tensing of his shoulders though because they quickly release him with an apology.

Izuku turns to find a bright shock of red hair that he doesn't recognize. But, the shark toothed grin gives away the boy's identity. His thoughts on UA's 'invasion' dissolve benneathe the boy's shining red eyes.

"Remember me?" Kirishima laughs.

Midoriya blinks in surprise before smiling back. "You made it." Reo stops with him, Shinsou disappearing into the crowd as they head towards the wall where they won't be in the way.

"Yeah! The hero course too! I wanted to thank you for that umbrella! That was super manly of ya! I was hoping I'd run into you during yesterday's ceremony so I could return it but our class didn't get to go," he laughs. "What class are you in by the way? I can bring it to you before school starts tomorrow!"

"As long as it won't make you late," Izuku chuckles, "I'm in 1-C, the gen ed. Department."

There's another call from somewhere in the crowd. "Kirishima! Where'd you go man! I still don't know my way back yet!"

The red-haired teen glances over his shoulder. "That's me, I've gotta go, but I'll see you tomorrow, okay! Bye!"

"Bye," Izuku laughs.

As soon as the boy disappears back into the crowd, Reo nudges him with an elbow. "You've got friends in nearly all the different courses now," he laughs.

"We talked once and I loaned him an umbrella," Midoriya murmurs. "That doesn't mean he thinks of us as friends."

"I don't know, he seemed pretty happy to see you," Reo teases.

Midoriya elbows him back playfully as they make their way down the hall. He gives Reo a condensed version of how he and Kirishima had met before they split off at the start of gen ed's corridor with quick 'goodbyes'.

Midoriya meets Shinsou back in their classroom. He sits, digging through his bag for the things they'll need for their science lesson.

"Thanks for that back there," Shinsou mutters quietly from behind him. Izuku turns to look back at him, but the other teen doesn't meet his eyes. Despite this, it doesn't mar his sincerity.

Midoriya smiles. "Anytime."

Izuku wants to say the rest of the day is normal. Unfortunately, his phone vibrates quietly in his pocket a third of the way through 5th period. It's an alert on instagram for an account he's rigged to give him post notifications.

There's only one such account that Izuku has done this for.

HDNSBSJDBSGDMS MY FRIEND JUST SHOWED ME THIS YESTERDAY

Midoriya stares at the post for a long time. He knows Ectoplasm is likely to catch him with his phone out if he doesn't look away soon. But, his eyes are glued to the set of coded coordinates.

"ALBTM," the voice from his memories spells out, "Short for 'a little birdy told me'. Clever, right?"

This was the post he's been waiting for.

Have the police seen it yet? When's the meeting time? Are heroes already on their way there? The sun in his chest shivers, solar flares lashing out against his ribcage. Will Eri be there? Will Overhaul?

He swallows thickly, looking back up at the board in time for Ectoplasm to glance around the room for a volunteer to answer the latest question. But, Midoriya can't comprehend any of it.

He does his best to work on the equation in his notes but all that comes out is the regurgitated coordinates of the newest meeting place.

He meets Reo after school, telling him in hushed whispers about the new information. The teen gives him a precautionary warning to let the police handle it as their train pulls away from the station. "I know, I was planning on calling you-know-who when I get back home just to make sure they know."

"I'm sure they do. If you know about it then there's no way they don't."

"Still," Izuku mutters, staring out the window. "If I can't be there I at least want to know what's happening." His grip on the handlebar above him tightens. "There's a lot riding on this. Overhaul..." his hearst clenches, fear rising at the mere utterance of that man's name. "He..."

Everyone suddenly feels too close. Someone bumps into him as the train rounds a bend and he flinches back violently. Too many people, too many hands.

"Izuku," Reo calls him softly.

He turns to his friend, eyes dilated, panic threatening to swallow him. He hadn't thought about it in so long .

The voice in his head takes on a different tone. "Don't lie to me, boy... I know who you are." Golden eyes and lilac fur and reaching hands and the brush of fingertips and– he... he remembers dying. It hurt, only for an instant. But in that instant his world had been set on fire, burning more brilliantly than any known star. He'd never known coming undone could hurt so badly.

"Izuku," Reo calls softly again. "You're on the train... It's okay. You're just on the train." His words are slow, deliberate, striving to keep Izuku's attention.

Midoriya hones in on his friend's voices, clinging to it desperately.

"You're standing and you're holding onto the handrail. You're safe."

And Midoriya can feel thee bar beneath his hand, it's cool and smooth against his fingertips. The train pulls to a gentle stop and the crowd thins as people file off, freeing up space and giving the teen more room to breathe.

Reo offers him a small, barely there smile as he regains control over his thoughts. His breathing slows, heart rate steadying.

"Better?" he asks.

Midoriya nods silently before croaking out a broken, "Yeah."

Izuku's stop arrives before Reo's does, and he leaves the older teen in favor of the dojo. He still feels a bit shaky, mind just a little scrambled. But training helps clear his mind, roots him to the present. Gamon keeps him focused on their fists, twisting past punches and blocking kicks. He weaves his body into the open spaces. His head is clear of all thoughts, all problems. He's grounded in reality. His lower back prickles from his bruise and his side twinges in pain from his pulled muscle. But all of it keeps him the present.

His heart feels slow and steady in his chest. It's rhythm lulls him.

Gamon's left sprawled across the mat by the end of their match, panting heavily. Midoriya blinks down at them stupidly as if coming out of a haze. He looks surprised to see his opponent on the floor.

Gamon laughs at his perplexed expression. "Are you sure you won't enter a tournament? You'd easily take home a medal."

Izuku offers him a hand up, dragging them back to their feet. "It's only needless violence."

"It's not needless if you think of it as training," Gamon informs him, "There's lots of different fighters, and if you're good enough you'll be able to face the best of the best. It must get boring only ever fighting the same few people, right? We've all got patterns to our fighting whether we like it or not."

"Maybe one day," he murmurs offhandedly. Gamon smiles, counting it as a win.

Ji-woo appears behind him as he's packing up after their lesson. "You did good today," she says, catching his attention. He turns to look at her, pausing what he's doing. "We've got a new batch of kids coming in next Monday and I was hoping you'd be able to help me with them. Some of the older kids are participating in an upcoming competition and I wanna make sure they're ready for it. I just need you to run them through some of the basics, things you learned on your first day."

Izuku's eyes light up, the fog in his head lifting long enough for a mix of excitement and pride to

take its place. "Hai!" This woman trusts him. She thinks he's good enough to teach her new students.

Ji-woo huffs a laugh at his reaction. "I think helping others suits you, kid. You'll do great." The words are followed by a not so gentle pat on the back.

For as long as Midoriya has known Chee Sensei he can't say that they've had many meaningful conversations with one another. But, the warmth that he feels spreading in his chest tells a different story.

"Helping others suits you"

His smile widens without his permission, twinkling stars backlighting his emerald eyes. "Yeah."

Inko isn't home when he returns and he uses this opportunity to head for Piper's phone. The dojo had helped clear out some of his nastier thoughts, but his problems wouldn't disappear with a little physical activity like his nightmares would. He locks his bedroom door behind him as he sorts through his gear, slipping on his mask as he dials the detective's number. He pulls up the post he'd seen in math on his other phone as the call goes through.

"This is Detective Tsukauchi Naomasa, Musutafu Police, Quirk Crimes division. How can I help you?"

"It's Piper."

Naomasa tenses. "I'm assuming this is about the post on the account you mentioned before." "You already know about it then?" The vigilante's voice echoes through the speaker.

"We've already sent people out to watch the location. There's no need to worry, kid." He leans back quietly, studying the pock marked ceiling tiles.

(There were many reasons to worry.)

On the other end of the line Izuku feels himself relax, the man's reassurances easing the tension in his shoulders. "Thank you, Detective."

"We're doing our best to find her."

The vigilante sits slowly on his bed, springs creaking beneath his weight as he too stares up at the ceiling. He remembers his defeat, his failure, remembers her hurt and her sacrifice.

He remembers her red eyes.

He whispers a quiet, "Thank you" before ending the call.
