Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Shadows of the Past. Enjoy the 4600-word chapter. I do not own Guilty Gear; Arc Work Systems and a few others do.

Millia looked at the project which had been rather weird around her. She chalked it up to him being thrown off by her appearance and not trusting her to not betray her or something similar.

She would be lying if she was not the same way about someone whom she had no reason to trust at the end of the day.

She had the scars of what trust did to show for it and she would be dammed if she had let someone be trusted so easily before now. She did not want to do anything that involved trust anytime soon.

"What did you want me to say?" Millia heard from him a second later. "The fact they tried to turn me into some sort of guinea pig? That they tried to make time to do things they should not have? No offense? You did try to murder me a few moments ago." Regius added with a sigh to himself.

Millia crossed her arms as she understood her enemy had been her quarry when it came down to it. They were entirely ready to continue this duel that they had been when it came down to it.

"There are plenty of soldiers that wanted to bring you in," Millia stated while she frowned at him before he cleared his throat. "There will be more when I depart," Millia stated to which her query was silent.

"And? I will fight them as well. I am not going back." Regis stated with annoyance. "I will not be a monster at the end of the day. They want me to be a weapon and if not? I know they force me to be one. It is not happening while I am still breathing. I will be entirely honest on that." Regis added before he frowned to himself.

"And?" Millia asked while she raised an eyebrow at her friend. "All people wish to have weapons when it comes to the end of the moment," Millia stated before she frowned at Regis.

"And why would you expect me to be ok with that?" Regis asked to which her enemy started to think of what to do next. "I do not want to be a weapon for anyone and anything. Why was it hard to believe me? You want me to lie about anything now." Regis questioned her before he raised an eyebrow at her.

He was aware of what to do next if he tried to attack her once more. He would need to escape further into the forest before she caught up to him once more.

Regis was not confident in his ability to battle her now while he was in this state.

Still? He did not want to battle her once more. He did not want to fight someone who was simply paid to capture him.

It was still concerning but he would take it rather than someone who would hunt him down to the end of the ends of the Earth for science or sadism.

Then again? There was a lot more down this road than expected. A lot more interest was to be found down this path if he was honest. The more Regent wandered down it? The more he questioned what she wanted and how to stop her.

"What happens if you did arrest me or whatever?" Regent questioned with a raised eyebrow. "You get paid and I get turned into another lab rat? That is how it ends. I am not going back to some laboratory. I did not spend so much time trying to get her only to be thrown back in a cell." Regent stated before he rolled his eyes and started to ponder how to stop her before this ended.

"The bounty on you is too much to pass up, you know," Millia said while Regent rolled his eyes and seemed to cross his hands across his side. "Second? I am not the type when it comes to passing it up. I need to handle more work to pay the bills. Third? How many people do you think to act as if they are the victim? How?" Millia questioned while she leaned on the trees.

"And you are a bounty hunter and I am some lab rat. I am aware of what comes next if I am stupid." Regent stated before he rested his hands on his side with annoyance. "There will be more after you, won't there? I am not going to wish my luck changes or all of that." Regent stated before he rolled his eyes.

They were far too annoyed when it came down to it. She was a lot more dedicated to her duty when the day ended and he was not going to point out that the bounty was not something they planned to pay. She would be turned into another lab project when the day ended. They want to find out how she ticked when it came to their research. There was no way they had simply paid her.

She had perhaps been as weird as him. She was not one to be bothered and he was honestly expecting more than this from her.

"I am not going anywhere at the end of the day. This is not going to end today anyway. They will send more people to capture me." Millia heard Regent say as he paced back and forth in place. "There will be more battles, ones I do not want to fight. I ain't doing this next." Regent stated while he smiled and leaned forward.

"And?" Millia questioned before she seemed to roll her eyes. "It is not my place to question their job when it comes down to it. They want their soldier back and it had hired them when it comes to it at the end of the day." Millia stated to which her friend sighed.

It had been a lot more interesting than she expected it to be. There was more than enough evidence either way. Millia did not know if he had lied or simply wished to be free of this. She knew he was dangerous enough to fight her and yet he had made no real moves to trick her, manipulate, or force her into doing something.

It had been interesting that had been a lot more confused by this than anything. It had been fun and a lot more focus for her at the time. It had been a lot more hopeful as of the second that had been rather interesting.

Still? There was more on the line than just her paycheck. She knew that he had been ready for her if they had to fight... it was a lot more interesting to see that he had been able to recover.

She knew a good warrior when she saw him. He was something that had been a resource that was being used by someone who had been rather interested at the time.

Still? She had bowed enough to respect him when it came down to it. His movements betrayed pain that had been interesting at the time.

There was a lot more on the line that had been interesting at the time. It was going to be interesting at the time to see how well he acted in defiance of her. It would not be brave or even well known, it was stupid for now as it seemed to be odder and odder to try and figure out as of now.

"If you wish to be free? Why do you run from something that had not been yet finished?" Milia questioned as she tilted her head.

"Those we had been a lot more interested in what to do next. That is why they hunted you down across the entire city, across everywhere you wanted to handle." Millia stated before she sighed.

"There was more data at the end of the day and they obviously at the second as of the time," Millia stated as she hummed to herself before this came down to it.

He sighed before he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. It had been a lot more interesting as of the second. It had been a lot harder on her, a lot more dangerous to it as of the second.

There was a lot more on the line when it came down to it. There was a lot more as of the second.

It would be a lot more as of the second. He had put a lot more into the time.

A lot more was to be done at the time and she knew that if it hadn't been at all distracted by the things that had been done? She would have won by now.

Still? She refused to handle this the normal way. She had been interested in what to do next. It had been a lot more as of the second. It had been a lot more as of the second when it came down to it.

She had been smiling inside of herself. This had to be a lot more hopeful as of the time being. it would need to be nice when it came down to it. He would be hopeful when it came down to it.

So much to do, so little time to do it. There was only so much that could be said or done before this came down to it.

She had to be ready for whatever when it came down to it. There was enough for her to question what to do next.

He could only question what to say and do next. This was a lot more terrifying when it came down to it… There was to be hell to pay either way and she knew it.

Regent could only raise his eyebrow, curious as to what she wanted and how she planned to get it.

This was to end either one way or another and he knew it, he knew it better than anyone could know it at the end of the day… This had to end sooner or later and he wished for it to be sooner.

There was to be hell raised across this when it came down to it. there was a lot more to be done before this had to be ended. It had to end with something exciting before all was said and done even if nobody wanted to be in on this for the time being.

It would be so hard if not for the fact that this could and would all come crashing down onto the floor before long. Nothing else was to survive this nor could it.

Regent sighed and slowly drew himself to his feet. If he was to die? He wanted to die on his feet with some caliber or such.

"If you are going to kill me? Then kill me, it is not worth it when it comes down to it. I do not want to be your enemy when this is all said and done." Milla heard as she frowned.

She knew more than he that he could be lying. People told themselves lies all the time, even when they went to sleep. It was not hard to imagine he was not lying about things since he had been there before.

What little this problem had been before now had been something she did not want to deal with, she had not been paid to deal with it.

Yet? She could not entirely just deal with it the same way, there was oh so much hanging in the balance if something bad happened, she knew more than this that there would be a problem for them more than anything.

It had been something that needed to be done, for now, it was going to be a problem, one they needed to handle.

What he did know was just how badly it had been to deal with, how badly they had messed up. They had simply gotten too confident, too thrown off. It had been something he did not fully understand.

They had more to check over for the time being which told him that such a problem had yet to fully bother him. It had been something that had yet to become more and more commonplace.

It had been something that he needed to have gotten over for now. A lot more had been done for now.

He tilted his head and looked at Millia who had been far quieter than he wished her to have been. The silence hurt a lot worse.

He cleared his throat and leaned on the wall, pain wracking his entire body as he seemed to finally get some clarity within his head. He did not know what to say for a few seconds when all of this was over.

Such problems had been a nightmare for him, however. Whatever he had dealt with for now had gotten him to be a lot worse. It hurt, and it hurt badly for the time being.

He damned himself for getting hurt so badly at the time. it scared him for the time that this she should be questioned before he hummed to have to which there was a moment of silence before she glanced at him.

She knew more than he what was going on and she knew exactly what was to have to deal with such a thing, they had so much more to discuss.

They had not yet seemed to have to focus on what to do for now. They had more on the line for now. If anything? He knew more than her what the next play was for the time being.

Millia was honestly questioning what they should do next as he looked up at her, clearing his throat as he did so.

"If you are going to take me in? Do it, you already know for a fact what they want to do with me. You know I am just going to be some test tube baby when I get back there because that is all they damn well care about." Regent stated before he shook his head.

"All they want is to stick needles in me and find how I can be their damn cash cow. It is not exactly like a five-star hotel." Regent stated while he frowned as of the time being.

Millia sighed as she damn well knew he had a point. The group who had hired her wanted him dead or alive and made it a point of saying they did not care either way. It seemed as if he was wanted for now.

They had so much more to have to question when it came down to it. They had so much more to have to question for now.

Millia looked at him before he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth and seemed to grow bored of this all at the time being… If anything? All Regent had done was push the envelope for now.

Millia was honestly someone who did not at all know what to focus on for now. It was clear more than anything that if Regent wanted a fight? He had put one up which meant either he was far weaker than he should have been capable.

Perhaps she should have been prepared more and more when push came to shove. It was not going to be something he would easily talk his way out of it.

There was a lot more on the idea such problems would have done something that he would be capable of for now.

Millia was silent for a moment as she looked around. It was something very odd, it was something odd, something unfamiliar and weird… But it was starting to get better and better with time.

Regent shook his head before sighing to herself and questioning what to do next. It was clear more than anything he was not going to be able to relax now. it was more than enough for now.

"This isn't going to be a normal case, is it?" Regent stated before he shook his head. "I do not know what to do next. I do not at all know what will happen at the end of the day. There are a lot of bad problems." Regent stated as he sighed to himself before tilting his head.

It was not to be something that needed to have happened when push came to shove as now… Still, he pushed himself, not purely for the delicate reason of how stopped all of this.

They had a lot more to do at the end of the day. It was a proper plan for now while he questioned how to stop her. Perhaps he could convince her of his need to grow, to cherish it and see it fester and fly upwards and into the sky, whatever he did.

He did not want her to see it the same way. The problem was simply how well he could hide it… Hide it from her or anyone else, not when there was more and more to try and understand, to see growth within the well…

There was so much to deal with that it bothered her more and more, not simply because of the fact there was more to do… But also because of the fact, such problems would grow and fester more and more.

She did not have to believe him but it was proper for more and more others to do so, utterly driven down more and more by it all and unsure of what would come next.

She was an odd woman and he knew it but it was not exactly like they were friends nor did she at all trust him at the end of the day.

This became harder and harder to deal with as he slowly yet surely glanced into the sky, pondering as if waiting and even hoping what might come with the new day. she was wild and he was… Unsure, hesitant, and even driven by a need to find a way to end it properly.

"What happens when there is nothing left to deal with? Hmm? We become obsolete and you know it, we do not even get to mourn, the grieve… It becomes harder and harder to deal with it when push comes to shove… Is not much fun." He said as Millia shrugged and looked down at the water.

"Sadly, that's life. The easy part is living long enough to become obsolete in the first place. Life has a funny way of doing such things, does it not?" Millia stated as she looked downwards at the ground.

All it was to him was a smile and a warm greeting. It was too nice, utterly too nice over and over as he looked down at the ground, utterly miffed by it all at the end of the day as the two glanced up and into the sky.

There was just too much to try and figure all out at the end of the day.

They had a lot more to deal with and it all be okay, he doubted it over and over sadly despite knowing it all was growing over his mind and he did not at all know for the time being.

There was a lot more upon his mind that he really could not at all relax upon now.

All of this made him scream upon looking upon what he seemed to be ready for… This was not something He was honestly ready for now… All his next moves were to try and figure out what as of now.

There was something else as he cracked his fingers once more. He hummed once again and looked at Milla who had fallen silent, utterly so.

He knew the woman was probably pondering the advantages of this against the limits. Whatever came next? He knew she was entirely making him scream and fall silent, utterly so… All of it only screamed of madness.

She was an odd woman but it was clear to him he did not even know what to do about her. All of it made his mind scream as of now, made his mind properly race for now.

There was a lot more upon the mind when it came down to it all… All of it needed to be handled when it was all said and done, his brain almost broke down from it as of now. There was just more and more he needed to himself once more as of now.

They had a lot more to try and fight through as of now, they would keep fighting for now before he cracked his fingers while he hummed to himself, looking downwards at the ground.

Everything down to the try and figure for now, something then before he clicked his tongue against the roof of her mouth. They had a lot more to try and figure out as of now.

Whatever would continue to try and end as of the time being while she looked downwards at the ground, there was a lot more to figure out what to see and do next.

A lot more to try and ensure what else but the luck and victory of them all for now, a luck that was not easily beaten back.

They had so much more to see and do for the time being and it was fun to see it all bubble to the surface for now and would be able to relax for now as he hummed for now.

He was able to try and die it out as he hummed and clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth, there were a few seconds of what to try and deal with for now as he clicked his fingers against the roof of his mouth, knowing the next move was going to be… Terrible.

Perhaps it would need to end sooner rather than later, sooner was better than nothing at the end of the day.

Yet? There was just nothing more than anything at the end of the day, something that he could keep dealing with. He had just too much to try and deal with more and more.

It was hard not at all to know that he would be divided for now, not knowing what was going on and how to stop it for now.

He had his problems to try and relax more and more, he had a lot more to try and deal with as of now, something that could be dealt with again and again. He knew no peace, only the idea of something he could not have prepared for now.

It meant little, something he could not stand to relax, it meant something that could not be purely dealt with for now… An idea that seemed to be dealt with for now at the end of the day.

He seemed to be dealt with for now and looking at her before she felt utterly naked and unholy for now and unable to do more than relax.

It was oddly uncomfortable. A measure which needed to be addressed, she looked at him less like a person and more like a piece of meat she had yet she had chosen death, a most unfortunate thing.

The monster seemed to keep surging forward before she seemed to relax more and more with pain and suffering, an ideal that had since been ripped apart… It was spoken upon now and dealt with for now, it needed to be done in waves and droves…

And it would not matter if anything how it was done, merely that it was done and dusted, an ideal that needed to be cut to pieces… He had a lot of measures to figure something out that could be utterly unsure of for now, it was just too much for even he could not relax.

The idea was something, too immeasurable… Too unsure and too unable to do more than relax… An idea that needed to be done for now and would continue to be so in waves and droves now.

She had no intention of doing either, no desire to handle it at all. She simply wanted it to be done and dusted for now… She could not have allowed it to be done and dusted for the moment when push came to shove… Even then? Even at the end of the day? She would handle it as she had little else to see and do… Then? And all then could she have imagined it.

She had no desire to do worse than this, none when such tactics were to be implemented upon it for now… The chaos within her had been going beyond it all for now… Beyond what was going on for now.

Regent had been too silent to even think of trying to act against her. He had been silent enough to act within his best interests. What he did next would be less of a small blow against him and less than a small little blow.

He had been silent, unable to heed such a thing… Such trinkets were a product as if it had come to a new degree, a new angle to try and amuse itself with… He had no desire to do such a thing… None… If anything? He had wished to be ready for now… Ready to try and figure out what he could see and do next…

All of it stung as all of it simply made him think of what had come next when push came to shove.

All such trinkets in his path… But perhaps she of all people had been willing to try and wake him up from the small little orb he had tried to dwell within.

It was amusing in its way as it came down to something else. He did not know her and it wouldn't be able to end for now as he clicked his fingers before he finally was able to ready himself for it all, whatever he did next? It would mean war for now.

He had been able to think of it for now, knowing that would mean something and he could not allow it, perhaps that was growing on for it.

Millia was a soldier and even though she knew what was going on, she knew more and more that something was going to happen for now as before she seemed to relax.

She was tiresome, knowing what was growing inside him. He relaxed, knowing what was going to happen next as she figured for now and he had no reason to now.

There was perhaps something else within him and perhaps something new within her, she could tell at the very least it would not be hard to figure it all. That and that alone would be harder enough either way.

All the chaos? The pain, the madness was not to have been said and done either way, that would not change either damned way the story went.

That and that alone with now and for good reason, knowing it meant something at the end of the time.

He had been too disturbed, so disturbed it hurt there… It was going to be either too distracted not to win or there was going to be a lot more to it… A lot of things needed to be addressed.
