Mileena approached her, "Are you sure? I mean, what if I need it in case something happens to me?"

"Trust me. You won't! Shang Tsung's spell is bound to this body. He could easily use his power to take control of it."

Kitana said, "Then it would become another clone in Mileena's old body."

Zareta turned and looked at Kitana. "Yes."

Mileena crouched beside her old body. "At least let me take my clothes."

She removed her clothing and sandals from her old body and changed into them. She then looked at Zareta expectantly. "What do you need us to do?"

"There is a crematorium located on the lower levels of this temple. We will take the body there and cremate it."

Mileena helped Kitana wrap the nude body in an old, thin blanket, carrying it as Zareta led the way to the lower levels and crematorium. They placed the body in the crematorium and watched the flames consume it before Zareta closed the latch.

Mileena felt like she had lost a part of herself, literally.

Kitana and Mileena then left the crematorium and returned to the upper levels.

Kitana then asked, "What's your daughter's name?"

"Her name is Mika! Hanzo picked her name."

"It's strange how we have that in common."

"I also wanted my children to know their father's culture. I was actually considering naming my daughter after you."

Mileena laughed, "Yeah, but I thought it was better he chose the name. Like you, I knew nothing of Edenian or Tarkatan names."

They reached the first level and walked toward the main entrance.

Kitana curiously asked, "What were you going to tell me before?"

Mileena looked at Kitana. "Huh?"

"Before the session began, what were you going to tell me?"

Kitana gave her a serious look and said, "You said you felt guilty about it."

Mileena's smile faded, and she looked at her somewhat shamefully. "You're going to be so mad at me."

"If this has something to do with your frequent trips to Outworld, I already know."

Mileena kept shifting her gaze and grew silent.

Kitana eyed her suspiciously, "There's more to it. Isn't there?"

When Mileena stopped walking, Kitana also stopped and looked expectantly at her.

Mileena then turned her gaze at Kitana and uttered, "Yeah."

"What happened?"

Mileena released a nervous sigh. Then, she began pacing and explained, "Three weeks ago, I was in Outworld..."

Three weeks earlier…

Mileena arrived at the marketplace in Outworld. She wore a blue cloak over her white kimono dress. She wandered among the crowd until she found a particular narrow alleyway. She had come here many times, but her last visit with Jade was nearly two years ago. The other times, she would visit with Khameleon, who managed to sneak her into the palace and to the throne room. Mileena thought sitting on the throne would help alleviate her sudden desire to claim it. It didn't work, of course.

There were a few close calls where she was almost caught. However, she was thankful that Khameleon was always there to distract the guards or create a diversion of some sort. She hated to admit it, but she grew fond of the female saurian.

A few moments later, she heard someone approaching. Then, a figure uncloaked in front of her.

"Hello, Mileena! It's nice to see you again."

Mileena noticed her face was completely different, along with a darker skin tone.

She gawked at her. "Why do you keep changing your look?"

Khameleon chuckled, "I love the anonymity. It keeps people guessing."

"And it's confusing!"

"But you always know it's me and not the other guy."

Mileena nodded and said, "Yeah, that's true." She eyed her facial features and commented, "You look great!"

Khameleon grinned and said, "Thanks." She touched Mileena's shoulder and said, "Now, come. Jade is waiting for us."

Mileena followed Khameleon out of the alleyway.

Once they left the marketplace, they carried on their conversation.

"The emperor is meeting with Raiden and his Earthrealm allies today."

Mileena looked at her questionably. "I thought they already had their meeting last week."

"It was postponed to today."

"How long will the meeting last?"

"It's hard to say. It could be brief, or it could take all day."

"Great! I guess I'll have to cut my visit short."

They arrived at the courtyard, where Jade watched her two-year-old son wander around. Then Jade turned and noticed them approaching. Mileena immediately noticed her swollen belly.

"You're pregnant again!"

Jade chuckled, "Yes."

Mileena couldn't help but approach closer and touch her swollen belly. "Is it a girl this time?"

Jade shrugged, "I'm not sure. It might be another boy."

Jade chuckled and replied rather quietly, "He thinks you're Kitana."

Mileena peered around and replied quietly, "Should I tell him?"

"No! Let's wait until he's older."

She asked quietly, "What's his name?"

"Kuetzal."

Mileena looked at him and said, "Hello, Kuetzal."

"Hi, Tana!"

Mileena giggled, "You're so cute!"

"I hope I get to hold your new baby in my arms someday."

Jade said in a more hushed tone, "I doubt your sister knows you're here."

"Perhaps you should leave as soon as possible before the meeting ends."

"Don't worry. I will."

Jade then spoke in a casual tone. "Well, it was nice seeing you again."

"Yeah, you too!"

Khameleon approached them with Kuetzal in her arms. He appeared to be much calmer.

Mileena approached and chimed playfully, "And it was nice seeing you, Kuetzal."

He babbled and ended with the last word, "…Tana."

Mileena turned to leave and immediately froze when she saw Liu Kang approaching.

"Kitana? I didn't know you were here as well." He spoke.

"Yes," Mileena replied and added rather abruptly, "Jade and I were just having a chat."

She gave Jade a nervous glance.

Jade turned to Liu Kang. "Yes, we had a nice chat." She approached Mileena and gave her a hug. "It was nice seeing you, Kitana."

"You too, Jade."

Jade quietly whispered in her ear, "Reptile is watching us!"

They released each other, and Jade gave Liu Kang a wave. "It was nice seeing you too, Liu Kang."

Liu Kang gave her a wave and replied, "Nice to see you too, Jade."

Jade walked away. Khameleon followed close behind with Kuetzal on her hip.

Liu Kang approached Mileena and wrapped his arms around her waist, bringing her closer. She placed her palms on his chest.

Mileena felt relieved, but it was short-lived when she saw Reptile slowly approaching them. Her heart leaped in her chest, and she slightly panicked. Thinking quickly, she immediately pressed her lips onto his. Liu Kang appeared shocked, but he didn't pull away. She pretended to close her eyes, but she could still see Reptile. He stopped and watched them cautiously.

When Reptile finally backed off, she pulled away and gazed into Liu Kang's eyes. "Let's go home now."

They left Outworld and returned to the White Lotus monastery. They exited the portal and stood outside behind the monastery.

Once the portal closed, Mileena immediately turned and looked awkwardly at Liu Kang. "I'm so sorry! Reptile was coming toward us, so I panicked."

He looked at her awkwardly and calmly replied, "Don't worry. I already knew he was watching us."

"But if she finds out, you'll have to tell her yourself."

Mileena was more worried about Kitana finding out than Hanzo.

"How about we just pretend that this never happened?"

Liu Kang sighed, "Okay."

They parted ways, and Mileena returned home.

Kitana gaped at Mileena.

Mileena waited for her to respond, but she stood there in shock. "I am so sorry, sis. If there's anything I can do to…"

She paused when Kitana held her hand up and said in a strangely calm voice, "Why didn't you just leave the moment Khameleon told you about the meeting?"

Mileena shrugged, "I thought I had time to pay Jade a quick visit."

Kitana scoffed and slightly turned away from her. "Now I know why he returned upset. He wouldn't tell me what happened."

"It wasn't his fault," Mileena said, touching her shoulder, but the moment she made contact, Kitana quickly turned and punched her in the face. Mileena fell flat on her back and looked wide-eyed at Kitana.

Kitana shouted, "I know it wasn't his fault! You shouldn't have been there in the first place."

Mileena sat up and turned her gaze to the ground, "I know." Then she gazed up at Kitana and said in a solemn tone, "But I couldn't stay put!"

"Why couldn't you just stay put?"

Mileena wiped the blood from her nose and looked remorsefully at Kitana. "You don't understand. I had no control of my urges to claim the throne."

Kitana's gaze softened slightly, "I know, but…" She paused and said firmly, "You had a chance to leave before my husband showed up."

Mileena bowed her head and said, "Yeah, I know. I'm sorry, sis!"

Kitana then stepped forward and held out her hand. Mileena hesitantly took her hand, and Kitana helped her stand.

Mileena looked at her uncertainly and asked, "Are we good?"

Kitana lifted a brow and crossed her arms. "That depends?"

"On what?"

Kitana kept her firm gaze and casually said, "Okay. I believe you," She leaned closer and curiously asked, "Does Hanzo know?"

Mileena shook her head and muttered, "No, but…" She paused for a moment and sighed nervously, "I think he sensed something was off that day, but he never questioned me."

"You should tell him."

"I will," Mileena shifted her gaze downward and said, "Eventually."

Kitana then touched her shoulder and said, "Take your time."

Mileena let out a nervous sigh, "Okay."

Mileena returned home.

Hanzo immediately noticed something different about her.

Mileena waited until their children were settled in their beds.

They went into their bedroom, and Mileena explained to him what Zareta had done. He seemed to understand. She also mentioned Kitana helping her get rid of her old body so Shang Tsung couldn't reanimate it into another clone.
