Baa de Mer Ranch
After leaving Shalour City, the group are travelling down Route 12 on their way to Coumarine City. They took the time to train their Pokemon in preparation for their next gym battles. Kevin especially took the time to train his Golett.
Jonny's Quilladin learned Take Down, his Charmeleon learned Flame Burst, his Ninjask learned Slash, and his Krokorok learned Dig. His Linoone also got stronger and he found a Hyper Potion with his Pickup ability.
Rolf's Braixen learned Light Screen, his Diggersby learned Flail, his Pidgeotto and Beedrill both learned Agility, his Wartortle learned Aqua Tail, and his Skiddo learned Seed Bomb. His Diggersby found a Great Ball and a Full Heal with his Pickup ability.
Kevin's Frogadier learned Fling and Smack Down, his Fletchinder learned Natural Gift, his Vivillon learned Draining Kiss and Aromatherapy, his Ivysaur learned Double Edge, his Doduo learned Uproar and Accupressure, and his Golett learned Mega Punch, and Magnitude.
Nazz's Floette and Litleo grew stronger, her Farfetch'd learned Agility, her Kirlia learned Calm Mind, her Skitty got stronger and her Dedenne learned Thunder Wave and Volt Switch. Her Dedenne found a Super Potion with her Pickup ability. Rolf was looking around the area when he sees a bunch of eggs lying on the ground.
"What know-nothing would leave eggs lying around?" asked Rolf. The 'eggs' suddenly turned around, revealing eyes and mouths on them.
"I don't think those are eggs, man." said Kevin. He takes out the pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Exeggcute, the Egg Pokemon. Even though it appears to be eggs of some sort, it was discovered to be a life-form more like plant seeds." said the pokedex.
"Rolf shall capture this Pokemon." said Rolf and he turned towards his Pidgeotto. "Pidgeotto, assist Rolf in capturing this Pokemon." Pidgeotto nods and hovers in the air. "Pidgeotto, use Gust!" Pidgeotto flaps her wings and releases a gust of wind that hits Exeggcute, dealing super effective damage. Exeggcute shakes and releases a purple powder onto Pidgeotto. It turns purple under Pidgeotto's eyes and she coughs.
"I think Pidgeotto's poisoned!" said Nazz.
"Pidgeotto, use Twister!" said Rolf. Pidgeotto flaps her wings and releases a tornado at Exeggcute and hits hit, knocking it to the ground. Rolf takes out an empty Great Ball and throws it at Exeggcute, hitting it and sucking it in. After it wiggled around a couple times, it clicks, indicating a successful capture. "Rolf has captured Exeggcute!"
"Way to go, man." said Kevin. Exeggcute's Great Ball vanishes. Kevin uses the pokedex to look up Exeggcute's information. "Okay, this says Exeggcute's part grass, part psychic, it's a girl, she knows Barrage, Uproar, Hypnosis, Reflect, Leech Seed, Bullet Seed, Stun Spore, Sleep Powder, and Poison Powder. She has the Harvest ability, which has the chance of restoring a berry she eats, the chance is greater during sunny days." Rolf uses the Full Heal his Diggersby found to cure Pidgeotto's poisoning. The group returns their Pokemon to their pokeballs and they resumed travelling up Route 12. They soon arrived at a river. They saw how big it was. "Aw, man. How are we supposed to get across this?"
"Yeah. There's no other way to get to Courmarine City." said Nazz. Jonny reaches into his backpack and pulls out a Hidden Machine.
"Where'd you get that?" asked Kevin.
"When I was getting my Pokemon healed at the Pokemon Center after my gym battle with Korrina, some guy gave this to me." replied Jonny. "It has a move called Surf. It's supposed to give water Pokemon the ability to carry people across water."
"Righteous." said Kevin as Jonny gave Kevin the Hidden Machine. He uses it on his Frogadier, and gives it to Rolf who uses it on Wartortle. Jonny asked Plank to remind him to find a water Pokemon. Kevin and Rolf soon rode Frogadier and Wartortle across the river with Kevin carrying his bike, then had them go back and help Jonny and Nazz across. After returning Frogadier and Wartortle to their pokeballs, they resumed with their travel. A teenage boy walked over to the group.
"Excuse me, but may I have a Pokemon battle with any of you?" asked the boy.
"Sure, I'm up for a battle." replied Kevin.
"Great." replied the boy. Jonny, Rolf, and Nazz stepped aside while Kevin and the boy faced each other. Kevin pulls out a pokeball while the boy pulls out a Great Ball.
"You're up, Golett!" said Kevin, throwing Golett's pokeball and releasing it.
"Go, Tauros!" said the boy, throwing the Great Ball and releasing a bull-like Pokemon. Kevin points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Tauros, the Wild Bull Pokemon. When it is about to tackle, it whips its body repeatedly with its three long tails." said the pokedex.
"That sounds painful." said Nazz. Golett and Tauros face each other.
"Tauros, Tail Whip!" said Tauros' trainer. Tauros runs at Golett and whips it with its tails, weakening its defense.
"Golett, Mega Punch!" said Kevin. Golett runs at Tauros and punches it, doing a lot of damage due to Golett's Iron Fist ability powering up Mega Punch. Tauros tumbles onto the ground, but it gets back up.
"Tauros, Pursuit!" said Tauros' trainer. Tauros charges at Golett.
"Iron Defense!" said Kevin. Golett's body glows blue, then shines and increasing its defense before Tauros rams it, dealing super effective damage. "Now use Magnitude!" Golett jumps up and down onto the ground, creating a powerful earthquake that knocks Tauros to the ground with swirly eyes.
"No, Tauros!" said Tauros' trainer.
"Great work, Golett." said Kevin. Golett raises its arms. Kevin walks to Tauros' trainer as he returns Tauros to its Great Ball. "Good battle, man."
"Thanks." said Tauros trainer. He gives Kevin pokedollars and walks away. The others walk over to Kevin.
"That was cool, Kevin." said Jonny.
"You know it." said Kevin. He returns Golett to its pokeball and they continued travelling. They soon passed a fenced clearing that had several Skiddos in it and several troughs with food and water.
"Look at all those Skiddos, you, guys." said Jonny.
"What is this glorious place?" said Rolf with awe. A woman wearing green coveralls, a green bandana with a white pokeball symbol, and brown boots, walks over to them.
"Hi. Welcome to the Baa de Mer Ranch." said the woman.
"So, what do you do here?" asked Nazz.
"We allow people to ride Skiddos in the area, inside or outside the fence." replied the woman. "We also sell ice cream and cheese made from Skiddo milk."
"Rolf wishes to ride the Skiddo." said Rolf.
"Me too." said Nazz. "We can wait a little longer for our next gym battles."
"Yeah, the gym isn't going anywhere." said Jonny.
"All right." said Kevin. The woman leads the group into the Skiddo pen where Kevin, Jonny, Rolf, and Nazz each climbed on a Skiddo. Minutes later, they were riding on the Skiddos around the area of the ranch, hopping over ledges and fences.
"Yee-ha!" said Jonny.
"This is so much fun!" said Nazz.
"Rolf is very much enjoying riding Skiddo." said Rolf. As they continued riding, Nazz sees something near some flowers. She stops the Skiddo she was riding on and hops off it. She walks over to the flowers to see what appeared to be a clear stone with a bright core in the center of it.
"What's this?" asked Nazz.
"Don't know. Maybe you can sell it for some pokedollars." said Kevin.
"Sounds good to me." said Nazz. She puts the stone in her backpack, and she returns to the others. She climbs onto her Skiddo and they continued riding. They soon returned to the fenced area where the other Skiddos are and climbed off.
"Rolf enjoyed the riding of the Skiddos." said Rolf.
"Same here." said Jonny. Half an hour later, the group exited the ranch, licking ice cream cones.
"This ice cream is good." said Nazz.
"Rolf also enjoys this frozen treat." said Rolf.
"Have a good day." said a male ranch worker.
"Thanks." said Nazz. The group begin travelling east towards Coumarine City with the intention on challenging the next gym where they hope to win their fourth badges.
