Jamal, Eric, and Kalil got their breakfasts and went into Kalil's car. Kalil himself sat in the back and had Jamal drive while Eric was in the front passenger seat.

.

Jamal: Where we going?

Kalil: Just drive, I'll tell you when we have somewhere to go.

Jamal: Okay.

Kalil: So Eric, what were you before you were a communist?

Eric: I'm embarrased to say, I was an Army Ranger. But, like many soldiers, I did a little weed. I helped some other soldiers get it from my brother Isaac. Then we got arrested, and I get incarcerated and a dishonarable discharge. I get released, and find that weed isn't even a crime anymore. That made me angry, couldn't get a legitimate job. I worked for Isaac for awhile, then I started thinking about how the rich take advantage of the poor. After some study, I realized that Karl Marx was right. Communist utopia won't happen in my lifetime, but maybe I could help the revolution. It's not like I have much to lose.

Kalil: A man with military training, who isn't afraid of going back to prison, could be useful. Lenin was right, it won't be the majority who fight the revolution, it will be a class of trained revolutionaries.

Eric: Those who already know that they're dead men on furlough.

Kalil: Exactly. But, someone who admits they served in the American military, who just shows up today, I'd be a fool not to be a little suspicious.

Acting president Keaton is giving a press conference. He is making it clear, to friend and foe alike, that America still has a functioning government.

.

Reporter: Is it right that the president just step aside when it's inconvenient?

Keaton: The president is human after all. And I feel she has done the responsible thing, by admitting she needs to step back, given the tragedy that her family has suffered.

Reporter: When will the president resume her duties?

Keaton: When she feels ready. My best guess is in a few days.

Laura Walker arrives at CTU with Heinrich Raeder as her prisoner. She hands him over to security. Mason recognizes Raeder from his file, he's a know mercenary and assasin with sniper training. Mason begins speaking with Laura.

.

Laura: My name is Laura Walker.

Mason: I know who you are, and who Raeder is. My name is George Mason, director of CTU. How did you get away from Jack Bauer?

Laura: He never took me hostage, that was all an act to lure my father out in the open.

Mason: Why didn't Bauer report in and inform us?

Laura: Jack believes there's a traitor at CTU and didn't know who he could trust.

Mason: Did he mention any specific names as traitors?

Laura; No, but he wasn't certain who could trust.

Mason: I see. I'd like to begin your debrief immediately if you feel up to it.

Laura: I'm ready.
