After The Storm
Chapter 29
It had been a week since Lux and I broke up and he left town.
I hadn't really officially told anyone but this was Tree Hill. People knew everything.
As Salem and I had milk and cookies. While playing with the doll house I had passed down to her.
Her dolls were named Penelope and Eugene.
(Sweetheart we can talk about what happened at you're dad's office if you want.) Brooke said.
Not wanting to push.
The little girl put down her doll and looked to her mother.
Her hazel eyes filling with tears. As she wrapped her arms around herself.
(That blonde lady was so upset at daddy and I didn't know why.)
(We had to go hide because she destroyed his office. I thought she was going to hurt daddy.) Salem revealed.
The expression on Brooke 's face softened.
As she scooped her daughter into her arms.
(You are never not safe with you're dad. He told me security came and took her away.)
(You don't have to worry or think about it again.) Brooke explained.
(I don't want to play dolls anymore. I'm tired.) Salem said.
(Okay. Let's get you changed into you're pajamas. Then into bed.) Brooke replied.
After a quick bath. Brooke helped Salem change into her custom made pink and purple pajamas with our pink slippers to match.
Brooke tied her daughter's blond hair into two pigtails.
While Salem grabbed tightly to the purple monkey.
Brooke pulled the covers over her daughter. Leaned over and kissed her.
(I love you.) Brooke said.
(I love you too momma.) Salem replied.
Brooke smiled warmly. Plugging in the nightlight before leaving the room and going to her own.
...
Weeks Later
(I knew it wouldn't last. But I'm still sorry tigger.) Haley said.
(I appreciate that. But ending the relationship had to happen.) Brooke replied.
(I was right. You still had feelings for Lucas.) Rachel interjected.
Brooke smiled shyly. (Yes I do. It got to a point where I couldn't deny it anymore.) She replied.
(Look at you following you're heart. I'm not that brave. I'm happy for you.) Rachel added in.
(Don't you want more than just settling? Real love?) Brooke asked.
Rachel shrugged her shoulders. Yeah she thought about Mouth alot more than she should.
But him and her actually getting the chance to be a couple. Seemed impossible. She would rather keep her expectations low.
He mattered to much to her.
...
The book him and Salem officially going to print and being bookstores.
Lucas was bursting with pride.
Brooke beamed as she watched various readers take snapshots with Lucas and Salem.
The day was long and busy but it a full success.
At dinner. Lucas revealed the title of his second novel.
Outside In. He gave a summary. And Brooke couldn't hide how overjoyed and proud she was of him.
Brooke swallowed hard when she read the dedication inside.
It was too her.
Any questioning of his feelings she had weren't there anymore.
They wanted each other. Were choosing each other all over again.
That was more than enough it was everything.
Once Salem was asleep upstairs. Crashing from the sugar high of dessert.
Lucas came downstairs. He had carried her upstairs to her room.
He found Brooke in the living room.
The fire place lit. She was awaiting him.
Her face liting up as he sat down beside her.
Lucas caressed her face. With his hand.
Their eyes locked on each other.
He leaned over and kissed her.
Brooke kissed him back.
Feeling him pull her closer.
At some point they pulled apart.
(You're mine. I'm yours.) Brooke proclaimed.
Lucas nodded his head in agreement.
(You're the one. Everything I will ever want and need.)
(Marry me Brooke Davis.) Lucas questioned.
As he took from his pocket the engagement ring Keith had given to Karen.
Brooke nodded her. (Yes. Today. Tomorrow forever. Yes.) Brooke replied.
Lucas slipped the ring on her finger.
Lucas cupped her face as they sealed the promise made.
