Chapter 3: The Sound Of Silence
"Don't touch those guns Marshal, if you do I'm gonna have to open up the other world for ya. Now ain't nobody going anywhere tonight your fair town's got some visitors and we don't wanna be disturbed. Now sir, if you just take your thumb and your forefinger and gently reach down and grab your gun out easy we can all relax" Gore Said.
Matt complied and handed out his gun. Some of Gore's gang was setting up headquarters in The Long Branch. One of the gang members had a gun to Sam's neck. Then somebody shot two holes in the floor. Festus & Kitty were in the root cellar.
"Well, what's going on up there" Kitty said.
"Serves me, but ya better let me go up first" Festus replied.
"What do we have here, where did you come from" Barrens asked.
"Just never you mind that, who's been shooting off that gun" Festus inquired.
"I'll ask the questions, Boys lighten his load" Barrens ordered.
"Wait just a dang minute here" Festus remarked.
"Just shut up or I'll blow that ugly face out from under those whiskers" Barrens threatened.
"Get your hands off of him" Kitty said.
"Gun on the table. Well, well, well, look what I found" Barrens said.
"What is this a hold up" Kitty said.
"Don't you worry nothing about it honey.Nobody's gonna lose anything they can't replace, unless somebody gets themselves killed by acting stupid someone like you ugly" Barrens said.
"Aww naw I ain't fixing to get myself shot yo-yo protect my three dollars, But I'd say you fellas bite yourselves off a pretty big wad fact is I'd say your liable to choke on it" Festus said
"Well we'll just wait and see alright. We're gonna be lots better friends before this night is over" Barrens said while staring at Kitty and licking his lips.
Members of Gore's gang were ordering people out into the street from Delmonico's, The Billiard Parlour and from their homes in the middle of the night.
"Take your hands off of me who do you think you are" Buck Spencer Said.
"Hurry them folks along now, I want you to go tell Frank to take all them weapons on over to The Long Branch" Gore said.
"Mason Gore huh?" Matt said.
"You've heard of me, well then I guess you know why we're here" Gore stated.
"They're the ones that cut the wires, your going against the government cutting wires like that" Barney said.
"I'll try and keep that in mind, first thing I want you all to keep in mind is there is nobody here in any danger, they'll be no violence of any kind of you all do exactly what your told, we're here for just one reason money, all you merchants are obliged to open up your doors and keep 'em open all private citizens gather together all your valuables and put 'em in a parcel on your front door stoop anything of value Silver, Money, Jewelry, Weddings Rings. My boys will be by to pick 'em up if they think the parcel is a little to small they might be tempted to come I don't think you'd like that. Any questions!" Gore stated.
