Deeks woke up shivering and confused. Shivering because he was freezing and confused because he went to bed with the covers pulled up around him and a Kensi tucked into his side. He had been nice and cosy. He definitely shouldn't be shivering.

They were staying in a cabin on a trail halfway to where Callen and Sam had been investigating all day. The two men had found that there was a lot more to their case than met the eye so he and Kensi had been sent out because they had run into all dead ends on their side. Hetty had told them to call it a night after ten hours of driving and that she had organised a place for them to sleep. Of course, because they had basically been in the middle of nowhere the accommodation turned out to be this dodgy looking cabin in the woods that Deeks had announced looked like where horror movies were set. He knew how all those ended. It had got him an elbow to the gut courtesy of Kensi but she didn't disagree with him. It was a tiny derelict thing, only big enough for two uncomfortable looking chairs, a bed, a sink, a tiny stove and miniscule bathroom that literally only had a toilet. He supposed he should be glad that it even had a running water. The two of them didn't even blink at the one bed. It had been a long, exhausting day and by now they had shared more beds on cases than they hadn't. All the two partners cared about was sleep. Not that the bed looked particularly comfortable but surely it beat the car?

A cool breeze swept across the room, probably from that crack in the window frame Kensi had tried to patch with a towel earlier, and he shivered more violently. He made as if to pull the covers up higher bit his hands grabbed at nothing. He frowned and reached a bit further down. Still nothing. His eyes opened a crack, squinting into the darkness. He could feel Kensi Still tucked into him but no covers. They weren't on him. Where were they?

Deeks rubbed at his eyes so he could open them properly. They were probably on the floor or something. Maybe he could get at them without Kensi waking up. She didn't seem too bothered by the cold.

Sitting upright, he instinctively checked on his partner. Ah. That would be why she wasn't too bothered. He shook his head and grinned. His normal bed-hog of a partner has wrapped herself completely in the blanket provided. She was basically a Kensi burrito, which, now that he thought about it, was quite an impressive feat considering that she hadn't woken him up. He hesitantly poked at her only for her to frown in her sleep and mutter incomprehensibly. Yep, definitely asleep.

The window frame rattled at the towel dangled from the crack, doing a whole load of nothing to keep the cold out. His whole body shook as the wind buffeted through. OK, screw waking a possibly murderous Kensi Blye up. He was freezing.

Deeks got on his knees and gently tried to find the end, any end, of the blanket. Thankfully, Kensi didn't wake up but he didn't find it. It was absolutely baffling the way she had wrapped herself up. A burrito indeed. Of course, he'd had to take a few clandestine photos of this as proof. No point in teasing if there was no proof after all. He also sent them to his cloud drive as backup, only Eric knew of that one so it was safe from sneak-deleting. That, and she was kind of adorable looking.

Photos and bafflement aside, Deeks had no clue how to get his share of the blanket back and with all the shuffling about he'd done with her, it looked like Kensi wasn't going to wake up. Why would she? She was toasty warm. Didn't mean he wanted to wake her up though. She just looked so peaceful. The wind howled outside, whistling through the trees. Deeks wasn't sure if his shiver was down to the cold or how freaky it was. He wasn't scared, of course he wasn't, but nothing good came of being in a cabin in the woods.

What to do, what to do? He wondered if his hoody would provide enough warmth? Though it was away over at the other side of the cabin. Too far and he didn't want to get out of bed. Maybe if he draped Kensi over him? Was that even an appropriate use of his partner? He could always claim that she had done it in her sleep to prevent possible dismemberment.

She was practically radiating heat, like a human sized hot water bottle. She was about the right shape for one too. He barely stopped himself from sniggering. Hey, that was an idea! Deeks hesitantly wrapped his arms around his partner, she didn't seem to notice it m, and pulled her towards him. She moved easily. Yep, definitely producing a lot of heat. Deeks bit his lip and wondered if what he was about to try was crossing a line.

The wind howled again, louder this time.

Screw that, he was cold. She was warm. Easy decision. Deeks lay back down properly and turned on his side so more of the Kensi-burrito pressed against his body, facing away from him. Her hard tickled his nose but oh my word she was deliciously warm. Hopefully it wouldn't take long for him to start to thaw out. Deeks tried to pull her even closer and inhaled the scent of her shampoo. Lavender. And gunpowder of course but he didn't think that was in her shampoo. He gently wrapped his arms around her to ensure that she would stay close. Deeks did not want to have to be defrosted tomorrow morning.

He just prayed that Hetty didn't have any cameras in here.
