Chapter 14 "Wholesome Friendship and Sheer Agony"
Scene (Alice's Tea Party Maid Cafe, Basement Pool)
"AHHHHHHH! Fuck both of you, bitches!" Freed was still dangling from the rope as it swung from the ceiling.
Akeno ended her tormenting lightning attack aimed at the pool itself. "Ara ara, that was level 4. I figured that you've been enjoying level 3 a little too much, so I upped the amps. Please, along with the information we need, I would love to hear your personal opinions regarding your pain levels. Again though, (after you tell us about your boss)."
Koneko looked back at an empty net that originally contained at least 50 volleyballs. Frustratingly, the white haired girl looked back at the pool. Floating randomly was all of Koneko's ammunition, (though a few of the balls looked to be charred and slightly cindering on the tops).
Staring back at a miserable looking Freed, Koneko speaks while showing no emotion. "Scumbag, are you ready to talk? It's getting late and I'm getting hungry too."
Freed turns his sore neck and looks back at the white haired girl as a grin takes over his exhausted and beat-up face. "Aww, the poor little baby is hungry and tired too? Don't worry, let me out of these ropes and I'll feed you!" The crazed priest was now sticking his tongue out in a sick display of perversion.
Akeno turned her attention of Freeds situation. "Ropes huh? Actually, you made a valid point. Koneko, I believe his legs are getting tired of being halfway submerged. How about you do me a solid and lower him a bit, perhaps say, his waist?" The black haired senpai begins to grin maliciously.
Koneko nods as she unties the end, (which is attached to the pool ladder). Slowly, the smaller girl relieves some tension as Freed's body is lowered further into the water.
"Wait, why?" Freed now looked concerned.
As Koneko finished tying off the rope, Akeno happily explained. "Electricity is a funny thing. As of now, I've only been giving you small bits of static which were directed at your legs. Now, I'm going to use more wattage to the water and this time, your lower extremities are directly exposed."
"Hey now, don't do that, I was just kidding! How about we just be civil about this and maybe I might be able to discuss my work over dinner or something?" Freed's eyes widened in terror.
Akeno nods while closing her eyes. "Yes, yes, I'm sure that's exactly what you would do if our situations were reversed. Naturally, I am a civil woman, so I can appreciate your words just now, however…" Placing her index finger into the air, larger and scarier looking electricity begins to manifest. "That house we found you in, well, that wasn't the only family that you've slaughtered, now is it?" Akeno blushes as she lets the lightning arch touch the water.
"AHHHHHHHH! MY BALLS!" Freed screams in sheer agony.
After several minutes of this, Akeno releases the lightning spell as she looks to be very excited. "Ara ara, I couldn't help myself, seeing you struggling like that on level 4. So I imagine your nether-regions are feeling a bit tender right now? It's okay, you can tell me, doggy." Akeno was happy to see a shaking and terrified enemy at her mercy.
Freed wasn't able to speak as the continuous jolts of electricity caused him to momentary lapse into a moment of madness. "Brugghghgh"
Koneko watched as the insane looking priest began to foam from his mouth. "I think you broke him, Akeno."
Tilting her head, Akeno stomped her foot down. "I asked you a question, Doggy!" Akeno screamed out.
Instantly, Freed was drawn from wherever he was and nodded immediately. "Yes, Mistress!" He drooled out the words which were accompanied by foam and snot.
Akeno looked back at Koneko while showing a satisfied expression. "You were saying?"
Koneko rolls her eyes. "Scumbag, who do you work for?"
"I, erm, I can't tell you! He'll kill me and everyone else here if he….AHHHHHHHHHHH!" Freed was instantly in pain once again as Akeno electrified the pool while smiling warmly.
Scene (Alice's Tea Party Maid Cafe, Basement Room)
"I don't care if he is the person that saved you! It doesn't give you the right to just take away my pawn!" Sona lashed out a bit in anger.
"I'm not saying that it was right either, but still." Ravel attempted to argue back.
Asia and Issei were sitting on Sona's large and canopy style bed while Ravel and Sona stood while arguing.
Tsubaki, (who was standing near the bed), looked down at Issei while speaking in a quiet voice. "You know, the President has had you on her mind since the whole incident. But you didn't hear that from me."
Looking back up at the vice president of the student council, Issei saw her actually smiling just ever so slightly.
"Really? I never would've guessed that she…" Issei stopped talking the moment Tsubaki placed her index finger to her own lips, conveying that he be quiet.
Asia looked back at the two girls who were arguing and then back at Issei while frowning slightly. "Ravel sama seems very nice, but I don't like the idea that we aren't in the same peerage, senpai."
Issei smiles. "I'm sure everything will work out. Also, just like Ravel, the president is a really good devil too, just like Tsubaki, right?" Issei looks back up at a now blushing Tsubaki.
Looking startled, the usually cold vice president adjusted her glasses and cleared her throat. "You, um, you think I'm nice?"
Issei nods. "I think you are a very giving person who goes out of her way to help whenever you see something out of place. So yeah, I do think you're nice."
"Um, oh, well…thanks?" Tsubaki turns around so as to not show her bright red face.
"Hyoudou! What did you say to Tsubaki just now? She looks sick or something." Sona pointed over at the three near her bed.
"I'm not sick, president, it's more like, um…" Tsubaki stuttered.
Ravel blinked a few times while wondering what was happening.
Issei and Asia both froze at the situation.
Instantly, Tsubaki ran out of the room while covering her face with both hands. "I'm sorry, I have to go! Eeeeek!"
The room goes completely silent as the occupants stare randomly at one another while shrugging their shoulders in confusion.
Scene (Alice's Tea Party Maid Cafe, Basement Pool)
"Stop, please! I'll talk, I'll talk!" Freed was crying from his swollen eyes as his body had arcs of electricity bouncing off of him and back into the water.
Not stopping her lightning spell, Akeno playfully tilts her head while smiling. "I don't know, Doggy. I am not really feeling the motivation in your tone." The sadistic queen then upped her magical spell to level six.
"WAHHHH! AHHHHHH!" Freed was drooling as his eyes bulged from his sockets.
"Now what was it that you were trying to tell me?" Akeno cutely held out her ear.
"I, AHHHH, SAID, BUUAHHHH! I'll TALK, MISTRESS, AGGGHHH!" Freed managed to spit out his words while his body jerked violently.
"Oh fine then, party pooper." Akeno licks her finger and the electricity stops.
A now steaming and randomly charred Freed speaks as quickly as he can. "Kokabeil! I indirectly work for Kokabeil!"
Scene (Alice's Tea Party Maid Cafe, Basement Room)
"Hey, President, Ravel, I have an idea." Issei was raising his arm into the air like a student would in school as Asia watched with curiosity.
Sona and Ravel look back at Issei with mild scowls on each of their faces.
"Well, um, for my idea to work, can I please ask you both to sit down over here?" Issei smiled nervously.
Ravel and Sona stared at one another and eventually nodded.
Asia moved onto the bed and behind Issei as she sat kneeling. Sona proceeded to sit on Issei's left while Ravel was on the teens' right.
Issei was about to speak, however Ravel chose to scoot a bit closer to Issei. Noticing her actions, Sona proceeded to also scoot closer on over toward Issei. The two girls then gave each other a death glare.
"Ahem, well, this is good, we're sitting down. So, President… Ravel and Riser aren't terrible people even though I've only known them for a short time. Also, Ravel is right, I did save her when we were small. And, I know you've always been looking out for me and I've given you nothing but trouble since joining you, so I don't deserve to ask this of you…" Issei looked extremely nervous.
Sona reached over and softly held Issei's chin while pointing his face directly at hers. She was smiling warmly as her violet eyes focused deeply into his.
Sona spoke in a calm and warm tone. "You're not troublesome. Dimwitted, sure, but you're not a bad person or a bad servant. What is it that you request of me, Issei Hyoudou?"
"After you win and get me back, would it be alright if I can still be friends with Ravel?" Not quite believing that he actually said that, Issei closed his eyes and prepared for the worst.
The blond devil's blue eyes doubled in size as she could feel her heart suddenly thumping harder deep within her chest. "Issei?"
Sona raises an eyebrow. "Oh, is that all? Well, yeah, I guess so." Releasing Issei's chin, Sona simply shrugs.
Unknown to Issei and Ravel, Sona was beyond amazed to see how much faith her pawn had in her ability. Without question, Issei's expression conveyed that he was convinced beyond a doubt that Sona Sitri was going to win the rating game. With that, she couldn't refuse his request, even though she found Ravel Phenex rather annoying.
"Oh wow, okay, that makes me feel so much better! I was worried that if my sister did loose, (which she won't), I might not see my senpai hero again." Ravel reached over Issei and took hold of Sona's hand. "Thank you for being so generous. So, we can be friends?"
After an eyebrow twitch, Sona looks over at Issei while showing an infuriating smile.
Issei can feel the deadly and invisible knives from Sona's gaze and it scares him to death. "Ehh?"
Taking her eyes from her pawn and back onto Ravel, Sona see's the girl giving her a very adorable and pleading smile.
"Please, Senpai Sitri Sama?" The little blond devil squeezes Sona's hand while she continues to plead.
Rolling her eyes in defeat as she can't help but admit that the girl was indeed cute, Sona relents. "Alright, Ravel, very well."
"Yay! See that Issei? We aren't arguing anymore and will be the bestest of friends!" Ravel used her free arm to take hold of Asia's hand. "Best friends!"
Sona immediately began to glare back at Issei. "Hyoudou…"
Scene (Alice's Tea Party Maid Cafe, Basement Pool)
"That's right, we got a confession and every little bit of information he has. He's a real monster, President." Akeno was speaking into a floating and red colored communication circle. "He is responsible for the deaths of seventeen different families and that's just here in Kuoh. Mind you, I asked how they were each dispatched. After some convincing, he explained in gruesome detail, things that are unspeakable. The cliffnotes are that Freed Sellzen is a home-invading homicidal maniac with a record of sexual assault before and after the deaths of his victims. Also, it turns out that fallen angels are turning against the status quo and joining a Cadre Class by the name of Kokabeil. He seems to be a smallfry and I don't think we are going to get anything more useful from him."
The communication circle pulses in red light. "I see. I am currently with my brother and he's heard your report. Thank you Akeno."
Sirzechs then speaks up. "Thank you for bringing this information to my attention."
Akeno nods. "Of course, Sirzechs sama!"
"Might I ask you to do one final and distasteful favor, Akeno?" The red circle stops pulsing.
Meanwhile, an exhausted and hurt Freed can hear the conversation clearly. He was concerned that his comrades will surely find out that he's a snitch and if they do, he would be in some serious shit. At least if he was locked away in some dungeon, even in hell, at least he'd be safe. That was the best outcome for Freed, he thought.
"As I have heard about the crimes this man has committed, I hereby sentence Freed Sellzen to death. Akeno, you may decide on the method." The communication circle vanished.
Freed began to struggle violently while Akeno turned back around with a very unnerving smile. "Ara ara!"
Scene (Sona's bedroom, Basement level)
(Knock Knock Knock)
Standing from the bed, Sona releases Ravel's hand and answers the door. Issei was unable to see who was at the door in his position, but he thought it was probably Tsubaki. After a few moments, Sona turned around and looked directly back at Issei.
"Issei, come here for a moment, please." Sona was oddly soft in her tone.
Walking toward the door entrance, Issei was able to spot a smiling Akeno senpai who was now looking back at him.
Out from the earshot of Asia and Ravel, Sona spoke quietly. "It's about Freed."
Now standing next to the doorway and beside Sona, Issei shrugs. "Yeah, what about that asshole?"
"This isn't a good place to talk about it, Issei Hyoudou. Please, join me on a small walk down the hallway, would you?" Akeno then playfully winks. "Don't worry, I won't bite."
Issei looks back at Sona who gives him the go ahead. "Alright, anything you say, Himejima Senpai, hehehe." Issei grew a lecherous grin.
Walking away with Akeno, Issei looked behind him only to see Sona's eyes peering out at him as the door slowly shut. "Um, so what did you want to talk about?" The teen then turned his attention back onto a smiling Akeno.
"I've come to understand that you're a brand new devil and more so, you single handedly took down a stray exorcist without any training or guidance. Very impressive, Issei. Well done." Akeno continued to smile.
Issei nods while weakly smiling back. "He was going to kill that girl, Asia and I also had Ravel with me too, so I didn't have any choice."
"I see, well then, has your master explained what earthbound peerages do? Aside from rating games and contracts, that is?" Akeno's smile turned into a frown.
Issei shook his head while not knowing.
"We hunt for stray devils. These are weak creatures that were turned into devils and given great power by their masters. However, those creatures usually leave or kill their masters which is the reason we call them, 'stray devils'. Once they leave, the original power bestowed upon them becomes corrupted and slowly warps them into flesh eating monsters. After such a process, they begin to roam around while hunting innocent humans as food. Our job as peerage members is to exterminate them." Akeno then looks back at Issei with a straight face.
"Wow, so we are kind of like superheroes, Himejima Senpai?" Issei showed great interest in what Akeno was telling him.
Akeno takes a deep breath and shows a sad looking smile. "You might put it that way, I suppose." The queen's frown then returns. "The man you took down, Freed Sellzen. He has been found guilty by our lord and mao Sirzechs. We are to treat him as a Stray Devil and eliminate him."
Issei tilts his head. "But isn't he a human? I thought you said we handle those stray devils that you were talking about? And why are you telling me this anyway?"
"A human who has killed countless innocent men, women and children. A human who deems anything or anyone associated with us as a hellworthy sin, worthy of a painful and slow death. A human who rapes his victims, alive or dead. Truly, Issei, from what little I've gathered about you, I'd surely think that you would be one to understand. We aren't ending his life for the fun of it, rather, it is justice for all of his past victims." Akeno was beginning to show a soft and maternal smile as both of her hands were now resting on Issei's shoulders.
Feeling the warmth of her senpai's hands, Issei slowly nodded in understanding. "Alright, I get it, he's a piece of shit. So, what do I have to do with anything?"
Akeno nods. "Yes, well, as it stands, I was tasked to execute the monster that is Freed, however…" The black haired queen slowly pulls Issei closer to her. "I think you should be the one to take responsibility, don't you think?"
Issei pulls back in a panic. "What are you talking about? I'm just a kid! Kicking his ass and straight up killing him are two different things!"
Akeno looks back at Issei as her eyes widen suddenly. "You? Why did you follow us?"
Issei confusingly looks back at Akeno, (who looks to be staring at something behind him). Turning around, Asia was standing a few feet away. She was also silently crying.
"Issei, I'm sorry, but please…" Asia now begins to completely break down and ball out loud.
Running past Akeno, Issei rushed to Asia while not knowing what to do.
"Freed hurt people. When you found me, that was our first mission together, but I wasn't told what we were actually doing. Issei, those kids. (Sob) Nobody deserved that. I don't care about what he did to me, but that family. The screams, the pleas. (Sob) The moment I intervened, he hurt me until I couldn't move anymore. Issei?" Asia felt Issei's arms wrap around her as his face showed an expression of pure rage.
Issei replies as his teeth grind. "Yes, Asia chan?"
"Kill Freed. Send him straight to hell." Asia then cried into the teens chest.
Issei held Asia for a moment.
Akeno quietly speaks up. "Well, Issei, it looks to me like you are most definitely going to take responsibility."
