Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Sailor Stars: Rebirth

Act 1: The Prophecy

Sora Kazeno

Welcome back for another story! This is the prequel to Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Sailor Stars: Chaos Theory. If you have not read that story you are not missing anything! This is a massive re-write to a story from twenty years ago. After working on Chaos Theory, I realized I had a lot of work to do to tie up many loose ends on how things were step up for the beginning of that story. I'm hoping this arc will fill in those gaps.

Another Camp NaNo month has passed so therefore lots of writing was done. I'm planning on having the entire story up by the end of the year. At this time, I do not have a schedule for the release dates as only half the story is completed.

As always, Sailor Moon is not owned by me and will forever belong to the very talented Naoko Takeuchi.

She examines the tarot cards again. They have had the same result for the past five days. It is a clear sign of what is to come and what motions she must set into place to achieve her desired outcome.

She pushes her long purple hair behind her ears and slowly rises from the ordinate wooden chair. A small smile plays on her lips. After several Sailor Wars and centuries of searching, it will be within her grasp. She can be patient for a while longer while everything unfolds. She has all the time in the world. She cannot rush this process if she wants everything to play out as it should. She will just give it a little nudge to move events in the direction she favors.

"It is finally time to take that journey," she smiles as her jeweled rings light up. Waves of energy appear in front of her creating a portal. She laughs while it forms, wanting to cherish every moment. Once the portal is complete, she enters the glowing energy doorway without looking back. Seconds later it closes behind her.

Usagi is latched onto Mamoru's arm as they walk through Juban Park, thrilled to have the day to spend with him. Sunday, the day she has the most free time without having to worry about school. She cherishes days like this since Mamoru has been busy trying to catch up with his studies. He fell behind while he was gone for so many months and it has been difficult but he is nearly where he needs to be.

Mamoru pauses to turn to look at Usagi. He has wanted to discuss something with her; something he hopes would make her very happy. "I was thinking Usako… about getting married after you finish high school."

Usagi gasps and blushes at the thought of being Mamoru's bride. After a few moments she can find her voice again, "really Mamo-chan?"

Mamoru nods his head in response. "But you have to finish high school first," he emphasizes this point knowing how much she dislikes school.

She nods her head eagerly in response focusing on the part of finally being his bride. She has so much to do in the next year and a half! She has to start planning right away and figure out her wedding dress. With a pause, another idea comes to mind. "Will you be done with your studies too?"

Mamoru frowns slightly. "No. I still have many years to go to become a doctor." He turns to face her. "If we are married it would be easier for you to come to America with me while I finish my studies. I'm in the process of trying to earn my spot back."

"Live… abroad?" Usagi's eyes widen as she searches his face trying to determine how serious he is with this new proposal.

"Yes; though it would be temporary until I'm done with my studies." He assures her after seeing how nervous she was at the thought of living in a foreign country.

Usagi smiles slightly at the thought of living with Mamoru but always pictured it would be in Japan. She never thought of living with him in America. America, where she would have to learn to speak English, which happens to be one of her worst subjects. Her eyes are downcast.

Minako is vexed. She missed the note. Going back to the CD player to try the song again, she searches back to the previous section to listen to it again. She struggles with reaching a few notes. The song is by a new artist with a debut single and gaining popularity in Japan, "Automatic" by Hikaru Utada. The artist is about the same age as her with an amazing voice. She has to keep training her voice if she wants to be a pop idol with a wide range of vocals.

After another unsuccessful attempt, she plops down onto her bed in defeat. She needs a break. She sighs staring at the ceiling. Is she really good enough? A sinking feeling hits her stomach. Will she ever be enough? Shaking her head, she moves to her drawer to pull out a letter from the idol audition from last year. She is good enough. The letter clearly states she is the winner of the idol contest. But this letter is only a chance and there is only one chance when she is acts upon it. How will she know when she is ready? Being a senshi always has to come first… and then there is the matter of finishing high school.

This mindset will not get her anywhere. Hitting the back button, she loads the song again from the beginning. If she doesn't practice, she will never succeed. She isn't one to just give up on this dream. She fought too hard.

Ami stretches her hands over head pausing for a moment from her essay. She is applying for summer programs after graduation next year. She glances at her essay written in Japanese and the half translated one into English. The task proving to be more difficult than she originally anticipated.

Taking a break, she looks at the news reports on the computer. Her eyes are immediately drawn to an article on increases in solar activity. She skims the article before moving on to the next one regarding a small cluster of stars that were recently discovered and in the process of being named.

She smiles a little before standing to go over to a bookcase. Picking up a gold card she looks at the Three Lights Fanclub member ID. Her thought shifts back to the time she was with one of her teachers waiting to see a comet on a rainy night. Taiki later joined them and they were all able to witness the comet.

How many stars are still out there unidentified in the galaxy? Just how many galaxies are there? The Starlights were from a galaxy researchers never heard of it since it is so far away. Or has their galaxy been found, but listed under a different name? She puts the card down and returns to her essay.

Hotaru is alone in her room working on her homework. Being reborn has added additional complexities to her schooling but Haruka and Michiru are trying their best to help her catch up. She puts her pencil down to close her eyes and rubs her temple. When she opens her eyes they are drawn to a picture of herself and Chibi Usa on a picnic. "When will you visit us next? Or has the time come for you to remain in the future forever?" It's not fair she finally has a best friend but it is next to impossible to see her.

But it is only a matter of time until Chibi Usa-chan is born in this world. She's sure Usagi will let her help take care of Chibi Usa in the future. But she will be a lot older than Chibi Usa when the time arrives.

She looks at the piles of books from her home schooling. She is making a lot of progress but it is lonely studying by herself all the time. Maybe she can have friends at her new school that are more understanding. Her fits are gone since she was reborn. She feels stronger than ever. Her past insecurities should be gone. She knows the experience will be better than the one from the Mugen School. It was to be.

Yet she still has a lot left to complete if she wants to start high school on time. Plus there are the entrance exams. It is never too early to worry about those exams. Michiru and Haruka are wonderful teachers and they will help her study to receive a passing score.

Speaking of Haruka and Michiru, they should be back soon and she wants to be done with her lesson.

The wind blows their hair as the car drives along the coast. The two do not speak any words between them, each lost in their own thoughts for the past thirty minutes.

Michiru's eyes gaze out onto the ocean in the distance. It is restless. Her eyes narrow when she recalls the last time the ocean was this agitated, when the Silence approached and against Galaxia. What new threat will they face? "The ocean is becoming restless again."

Haruka sighs. "I hope this time you're wrong."

Michiru shoots a look at her companion.

Haruka walks back her comment. "But I know better. We'll keep a close eye on the girls. I wonder if they know what is waiting for them."

The teal haired woman nods her head. She looks into her golden mirror and gasps at the image. Sailor Moon wrapped in red vines. The vision appears briefly before it dissipates. With narrowed eyes, "the image reminds me of what Hotaru once described Sailor Moon trapped in vines. Right before she became Eternal Sailor Moon."

Haruka turns her head sharply. "You don't think…?"

Despite the heat from the Great Fire, Rei shivers. She can't dismiss the unsettling vision witnessed within the flames.

All nine of the senshi and Tuxedo Kamen are lying on a battlefield in what appears to be somewhere in Tokyo. Everyone is either unconscious or dead. No one was moving. She shakes her head and pushes a few strands of black hair behind her ear.

It can't be right. They are at peace and have been for so many months. She tries to take her mind off the perturbing image and returns to her room. Radio is always the perfect distraction.

She catches the last few bars of a song. The radio DJ comes back on. "We are closing in on almost a year since we last hear from that really popular idol group, The Three Lights since they suddenly disbanded. Everyone thought at least one of them would have started a solo career by now. Nobody has heard from or seen them. There were a few rumored reports of a few sightings over the past months but nothing concrete. How were they able to just disappear like that?"

Rei frowns, has it really been that long? They are less than two months from finishing their second year of high school. She held onto the hope she wouldn't need her powers again until after they graduated high school.

She turns her attention to a picture of herself with the other girls. How should she break the news to them? When should she tell them? She decides to wait a little bit, let them enjoy everything before they are thrusted into another battle. Maybe she will have more details or answers by then.

Makoto refills the watering can in her kitchen sink. Now that the weather is starting to warm up, she has to water her plants a bit more. She loves gardening but can only keep so many plants in the apartment and on the balcony.

It is easier for her to cook in her home than garden. She could never run a flower store out of this apartment. It would be more reasonable for her to cook out of her kitchen until she can obtain a larger one.

She sighs not sure which path to pursue. She has always wanted to have a flower shop and a bakery. But everyone knows associates her with cooking.

The water spills over the top of the watering can and onto her hands, snapping her attention back to the present. She grabs a dish towel to dry her hands and wipes up the extra water on the outside of the can. She walks over to her plants and begins to water them.

Sailor Pluto lets out a deep breath. Shortly after Chaos was defeated and the Starlights returned to Kinmoku, she resumed her duties at the Gates of Time. This solidarity post is where she is supposed to belong. But it is different this time.

It used to be easier to guard this door. It was before she had so much contact with the others. But she doesn't regret the time she spent on Earth. They needed her. Without her on Earth, the Silence would have consumed the Earth. Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune would have died without their heart crystals returned to them. She had to take Hotaru away from her father since she would awaken soon as Sailor Saturn. The battle raged on from Nehelenia to Galaxia. Knowing all this can only lesson the pain so much.

Within a few years, Usagi will ascend the throne, at the same time the Earth is thrown into turmoil again. Her presence will be needed then, years from now.

Her head snaps to the side when she notices a spark. Something that is very usual in the Time Stream. She walks over to where she saw the brief flash of light but the spark is gone. She scowls.

The elder purple haired woman looks at the world she is in full of disdain. It is dark and stormy. No sign of life. It is nothing but a wasteland. This is the world that is responsible for the being that will help grant her deepest desire? She wishes her reading was more specific. This being will know where to go and who to attack. That attack, her mere presence will trigger everything. She wants to know where this being will travel to. She smiles. She will send one of her servants to assist this being. It will help speed up the process. That servant can then find the person she seeks; the one that holds the powers of the stars in their hands.

If only the tarot reading could pinpoint a location but the holder of those powers have not awakened. She can't jeopardize the awakening. This may be her only shot. She has waited over a millennium for this opportunity. She needs to complete what she is here for first, and then she can worry about having everything else falling into place.

She narrows her eyes to regain her focus. She is here to complete a task. Break the seal. The multi-colored jewels on her fingers light up as she reaches out with her powers to find the seal.

A large pull of energy calls out to her from the right leading to her destination. A door, with a golden half sphere mark on it. She examines the mark closer; is it a golden crescent moon? What does this symbol have to do with this seal? Who does it belong to?

She chants an ancient incantation, lighting up all of the jewels on her fingers. Power radiates from her fingers to the sealed door. Energy builds around the door, the symbol on the door flashes in response. The seal is strong but her powers are far stronger. With a wave of her hand, the golden crescent moon mark breaks in half.

Black energy rushes out from the corners of the door.

A smile forms across her dark red lips. With a forceful tug, the door creaks open. Her task here is complete.

The being will need time to recover, to gather strength. A wicked grin appears on her face. She can help speed the process along by giving her some of her own magical power. Another chant and some of her power is transferred to the being on the other side.

A return portal is conjured in the air. She feels joy. She has started the event that will induce the change; one that will spiral out of control, piece by piece until she has what she wants. Now she waits for everything to play out.

Usagi sits on her bed with her pillow close to chest thinking of the discussion she had with Mamoru. Move to America? She wants to live with him more than anything, but in America?

Her eyes widen. What would she tell her parents? It's no secret her mother is fine with Mamoru but her father is another story. Once she is eighteen she will no longer need her parent's consent. She'll turn eighteen a few months after graduation.

She grips the pillow tighter. She doesn't think her mother realizes how serious her relationship is with Mamoru. She has always been vague with his age. They know he is older, but it is five years. Her mother helped her hide so much from her father since he is overbearing Maybe her mother does knows the truth?

But this is what she has always wanted, to be married to Mamoru. If he returns to America for his studies and they are married, they will never have to be apart. There is no other way she would be to go with him. But first he has to hear back from the university and it is a long process since he never showed up the first time. Galaxia ruined so many things for him. She sulks. Things shouldn't have turned out this way for him.

Something doesn't feel right to Yuta. The last time she felt this uneasy was right before Sailor Galaxia attacked her home world. She immediately consults her crystal ball. Very few call her by her given name, everyone knows her better as the Oracle; a seer of sorts that she can glimpse events of the future and is seldom wrong. Her long gray hair flows down her back, a sharp contrast to her olive green dress. She has seen a lot over the years and is a source of wisdom in the palace.

Her hands brush against the crystal waiting for the forms to take shape. The crystal comes into focus. There is devastation on a battlefield in a city. A city she has never seen before. She looks at the figures fallen on the ground. The people on the ground appear to be Sailor Senshi but she does not recognize them. How could so many senshi meet their end all at once? What has happened on this planet to lead to such a horrific event?

She stares at the fukus closely trying to find a clue she can use to recognize who they are. The senshi are not from this star system. They are not the senshi that protect this planet.

Panic begins to set in. Her world is currently safe but will it remain so? If these senshi were defeated will that evil make its way here? Who are these senshi? The images fade from her crystal ball.

She will try again in a few hours. Perhaps more answers will reveal themselves. She needs to clear her mind.

Usagi stares at her remaining English homework and pouts. This assignment is impossible unless you're a genius like Ami. Her focus wanders back to her conversation with Mamoru. It's a long process for him to apply. She has at least a year, maybe two before he would be able to start classes overseas. She has to learn English by then or everything is going to be very difficult. He would be in class all day, what would she do if she doesn't understand the language?

With renewed determination she focused on her schoolwork. After two sentences she is frustrated again. Anything she puts down doesn't make sense. Dejected, she gets up and turns on the radio, flipping through a few stations looking for music; anything to distract from her homework. Her hand stops on the dial when she finds a Three Lights song, Todokanu Omoi: My Friend's Love. She stares at the radio, her hand frozen in place. She hasn't thought about them in weeks.

Her eyes travel to her dresser to find a pink bear pin. School has kept her busy with the end of the year coming up. She picks up the pin and holds it in her hands hoping the Starlights are well and their planet is thriving. The song ends and she places the pin back on the dresser. She looks at the picture from the school festival she has of her with the other girls in maid dresses and Seiya. It was taken shortly before Sailor Lead Crow attacked her at the school and the Starlight's Princess appeared.

Now even less focused, she tries to sit down to work on her English homework again; her mechanical pencil tapping loudly on the chabudai beneath.

The following morning Usagi rests her head on her desk at school. Another make up exam but she is on her own. English is Minako's best subject. She grumbles under her breath "I don't really need to learn English since everyone speaks Japanese here." She pauses and slowly sits back up. "But I'll never manage in America at this rate."

Usagi's words catch Makoto's attention. "Usagi-chan, what are talking about?"

Usagi's eyes widen. She didn't realize she spoke that out loud for Makoto to hear.

"What is going on?" Minako asks, hovering next to the desk.

"Oh… umm… well…." Usagi taps her fingers together trying to figure how to word the discussion she had with Mamoru the other day. She is still trying to process the information after all. "Well… I spent part of the day with Mamo-chan the other day… and he wants to try to study in America again…. But this time he wants me to go with him?" Her voice is higher at the end.

"Go with Mamoru-san to America? Are you sure?" Minako asks in disbelief.

"Yeah…. But I hate English so much!"

"Why didn't you say anything this morning? I can help you learn English; it's the only subject I'm good at." Minako flashes a bright smile.

"I have to be able to finish high school first and I hate studying…" Usagi whines.

Makoto teardrops. "I'm sure Ami-chan can help you with some of the other topics. We still have those study groups after all."

Usagi nods her head slowly. They make it sound so easy but school is very difficult for her.

"We… also talked about getting married… but I have to finish school first. It's not fair." Usagi crosses her hands against her chest.

"We have to look at wedding dresses!" Minako zeroes in on that part of the conversation.

"Yeah… but that also means I will have to talk to my father about Mamo-chan. I don't think I'm ready for that and I don't think he is either."

Makoto looks at Usagi with confusion. "Doesn't your father know?"

Usagi shakes her head. "Not really. My mom and I have kind of hid that information from him. He flipped out the one time Mamo-chan helped me find Chibi Usa when she ran away. Since then I sorta haven't been exactly… wanting to discuss it with him."

"But you'll be old enough to legally marry Mamoru-san shortly after high school." Minako counters back. "The two of you are destined to be together."

"What if my dad refuses to talk to me after I get married? What if he refused to allow it to happen?"

"And if you just leave to go to America with Mamoru-san, that would only make matters worse."

"You're not helping Minako-chan," Makoto points out.

Minako laughs and places a hand behind her head. "Sorry."

The rest of the students file in as lunch is ending and afternoon classes are about to begin.

Mamoru has a vast array of papers sprawled out before him as he works diligently on a new personal statement for his application for Harvard. With a sense of accomplishment, he shuts off his laptop and grabs his car keys.

He doesn't want to be late to his part time job at the television studio he has had for years. They are currently filming a medical drama. The production is exciting since it is helping him learn a bit more about the medical field. Today he has to set up a scene for a patient in a hospital. They are letting him set up the machines since he as the most experience. Simple things like that put a small smile on his face.

The schedule is flexible with his school classes and he is thankful to have to his job back. He has a little bit more to complete on his application and hopefully this break from the essay setting up a hospital room will inspire the remaining sections he needs to complete.

Several days pass and Yuta is still in front of the crystal ball. Her eyes focused on what she has witnessed. It is the same vision multiple times. The outcome is unchanging; nine sailor senshi lying on the ground, unmoving. It is clear to her now this is a scene of death. There is a reason she is seeing these images even though she does not know why. Perhaps there is a way for her to prevent this.

She cannot hold it off any longer, she must speak to her Princess. She picks up her phone to call the attendants of the Princess. Once she reaches an attendant, she keeps her message short and direct. "I must speak with the Princess on a matter of grave importance."

There is a brief pause before a response is given. "The Princess asks you come to her quarters immediately."

"I am on my way." Yuta hangs up the phone. Rising to her feet, her mind is racing thinking of what she will tell the Princess.

She is lost in thought until she arrives outside of her destination. The door to the private quarters of the Princess is open. She is expecting Yuta's visit.

"Princess," Yuta bows as the Princess comes into her sight.

The Princess gesture for Yuta to sit down. "I understand you have an urgent matter to discuss?"

Once Yuta is seated, she describes the vision she has witnessed countless times in the past few days.

The Princess' face is grim. "Can you show me in the crystal ball what you have seen? We must identify these senshi."

"Of course, Princess."

Princess Kakyuu stands up and follows Yuta out of her chambers and to Yuta's quarters where she completes her readings.

Sailor Pluto looks around, how long has she been here? Time stands still for her when she is here while it marches forward for everyone else. She leaves her post in front of the door temporary to survey her surroundings.

Everything appears the same. She finds nothing out of the ordinary. No sparkles or disturbances. She returns to her spot in front of the door. With a gesture from her staff the garnet orb lights up and several small circles appear in front of her, showing her several moments in the timeline. An ability she can only harness here to ensure time is following correctly.

A flash of light in the corner of her eye draws her attention. She dismisses the orbs and runs off in the direction of the light.

Whatever that light is from, it is not normal.

Her head is pounding. She felts like she just woke up from a deep sleep. She slowly stands up, staggering forward, nearly tripping on her long purple dress in the process.

What happened? She takes a few steps forward stumbling as she advances.

Images flood her mind as everything begins to come into focus. Princess Serenity. That little girl imprisoned her in this place. How could that little princess do that when she was so much stronger?

Anger fuels her movements. She heads to the light in the distance; it's different than the rest of her surroundings. As she moves closer to the dim light she realizes it is coming from behind a large black door. Her instincts tell her to move in that direction.

She pushes the heavy door forward, opening it a little more. She is hit with a blast of cold air but it does not deter her. The change in temperature does not faze her. All she can think about is revenge.

How long was she imprisoned here? She will make the Moon Princess pay. She will kill her and this time she will make sure she is not reincarnated.

Princess Kakyuu's eyes are wide as she leans back in the chair after viewing the images Yuta spoke of in the crystal ball. "No… that can't be…" She doesn't want to believe what she had just witnessed. There has to be some kind of explanation. "She's too powerful; she just saved us all… what could possibly be stronger than Chaos?"

Yuta gives her princess a questioning glance, not understand the significance of this vision to Princess Kakyuu. "I'm sorry Princess, but I don't recognize the senshi seen here. Who are they?"

Princess Kakyuu stands up; she knows what she must do. "I will explain everything shortly." She walks to the hallway to summon a guard.

He bows before her, awaiting her orders.

"Summon the Starlights."

Usagi puts down her cream soda on the table in the Crown Café. She barely passed her make up exam for English. She owes it to Ami-chan and Minako-chan for helping her study. She didn't want to let Mamoru know how poorly she did on her exam, especially since it was English.

"Unbelievable," comments Rei while looking over at Usagi. "You're never going to manage in America if you always have to take make up exams."

Usagi's eye twitches. "You're being mean again Rei-chan!"

"I'm only pointing out the obvious."

"Well English isn't that obvious to everyone!"

Rei smirks. "You don't even realize what you're saying! Are sure you even know Japanese?"

"Or course I do!"

"Then why do you never use kanji?"

Usagi teardops. "I can use kanji… it's just faster to write in hiragana…" She fumbles with an excuse.

"It is actually more efficient to write in kanji since it can replace several strokes and combines several hiragana characters," Ami explains the fast way to complete work.

"Ami-chan, who's side are you on?" Usagi glares at her blue haired friend.

"That's enough!" Luna interrupts Usagi before she starts yelling at anyone else. She clears her throat before asking, "We don't have a new enemy to fight, so what are you doing instead of studying Usagi-chan? You have plenty of time to study." Luna raises her eyebrow at the blonde.

Usagi blushes. "Ahh… well… you know…" She can't finish the sentence.

"You would think Mamoru-san would help you study," Artemis comments not fully realizing why Usagi was blushing.

Ami tries to change the focus. "Does Mamoru-san know how much you still need to work on your English?"

Usagi hangs her head with a sigh. "But English is too hard! It's not something we really need to use in the future."

"You know what they say, don't put the horse before the cart!"

Everyone teardrops as Minako messes up another proverb.

"You mean don't put the cart before horse." Makoto attempts to correct Minako's blunder.

Minako laughs in response.

Usagi drinks more of her cream soda and sighs. She knows the other girls are right; she doesn't want to admit it out loud. She needs to work on English if she is going to live in America with Mamoru. She wouldn't be able to rely on him for everything. There will be times she will need to be able to communicate in English when he isn't around.

Michiru places her mirror down. The premonition is the same. "The red vines are still trapping Eternal Sailor Moon." She turns around from the end table to face Haruka. "It makes me uneasy."

"I wish Setsuna-san was here so we could ask her about this. Something about this is off." Haruka adds, wondering what insight the Senshi of Time could offer. "Is this related to the next great battle?"

Hotaru looks at Haruka and shakes her head. "Don't wish that. When Sailor Pluto leaves the Time Streams it means our Princess is in peril and a dangerous enemy is approaching."

Haruka and Michiru gasp at Hotaru's statement. The two senshi exchange a glance with each other.

"We need to defeat whatever is coming without involving the others. Stop it before it attacks Sailor Moon," Haruka looks over at Michiru and Hotaru for confirmation of her plan.

"That is impossible."

The three senshi immediately turn to the voice in the other end of the room to see Sailor Pluto in the apartment once more.

She takes a few steps forward out of the shadows. "Something is about to happen that jeopardizes the very fabric of time. A change of some sort. A change that threatens the future of this planet." Her eyes lower slightly for a moment, letting the gravity of her message set in. "We have to be ready."

Michiru grimaces after hearing Sailor Pluto's message. She looks over at Haruka.

Haruka nods her head. "We will visit the girls tomorrow." She shakes her head. "When will all of this fighting end?"

"When we take our last breath. Until then, we protect our Princess," Sailor Pluto looks at the others in the room.

The three nod their heads in agreement. They will each sacrifice everything it meant protecting their Princess from harm.

Princess Kakyuu waits for the Sailor Starlights in Yuta's quarters. She feels anxious over what she is about to disclose to them. She knows some of them will not take the information well. Her main concern is for Fighter. It was more challenging than she anticipated for this particular Starlight to leave Earth. Her eyes are disheartened. But she can't keep them is from them especially when the others need the Starlights help if they want to change the outcome of the vision in the crystal ball. Her mind was made up as soon as she witnessed the images.

Yuta and Princess Kakyuu sit in silence as they wait for the Starlights.

The guard knocks on the door. "The Starlights are here Princess Kakyuu."

Sailor Star Healer, Sailor Star Fighter, and Sailor Star Maker enter the room. Confusion is written on their face why they are meeting with Princess Kakyuu in this location. They know of the Oracle and usually when anyone meets with the Oracle it is not for a positive outcome.

"Please be seated," Princess Kakyuu gestures to the three chairs closest to Yuta near the crystal ball.

"What is going on?" Sailor Star Healer asks directly. She doesn't have the patience for this. They were summoned to report here but where not told why. To add to the confusion, they did not report to the Princess quarters or the throne room.

Princess Kakyuu gestures for them to sit again.

This time, the three Starlights comply.

"The Oracle has had a vision she shared with me. After observing the vision, I thought it was best for you to see it as well. But I have to warn you, it is disturbing."

"Whatever it is, I'm sure we can handle it," Sailor Star Fighter immediately responds, reassuring the Princess they are up for the task.

Princess Kakyuu looks at Yuta for a moment before she slowly nods her head to proceed.

Yuta closes her eyes for a moment to focus and center her energy. She mummers a few words under her breath as she waives her hands a few times in front of the crystal ball to project the images to the others.

The crystal ball glows brightly as everything starts to come into focus. The first image is of Tokyo Tower in the background. The image zooms out as several destroyed skyscrapers come into focus. As the city comes into view, more of the wide scale destruction can be seen.

The Starlights are at the edges of their seats. They clearly recognize the surroundings.

The sky is black. There is no light from the Moon or the stars. The only light provided is from burning fires nearby. The first people come into focus. It is the body of Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune. They are bloody and bruised as they lay on the pavement unmoving. The next images are of Sailor Pluto her final position is reaching for her staff. To her left, is Sailor Saturn, her glaive facing downward as it is supposed to mean something. She is as injured at the other Outer Senshi.

Sailor Star Maker shifts uncomfortably in her seat. Those four senshi were the strongest senshi on Earth with the exception of Sailor Moon. What enemy could have done this?

The bodies of Sailor Mars and Sailor Mercury appear next. Sailor Mercury's visor is broken on her face. Sailor Mars has several pieces of paper near her with kanji on them, several of them have dying flames.

Sailor Venus is next, her signature red bow came undone and her right hand is reaching forward for a heart shaped chain. Sailor Jupiter lie beside her with bruises, the antenna from her tiara is broken off.

"It looks like Chaos was on the rampage… but how?" Sailor Star Healer comments quietly. Seeing those girls die before them to protect them from Galaxia still hits her hard. She had never seen another person, let alone another senshi sacrifice themselves for any of them without giving it a second thought.

The image in the crystal shifts forward again. A man in black with a shredded red cape is next. He looks like he was hit pretty hard by an attack. Finally they see Sailor Moon. Her wings are broken, and there are feathers scattered around her. One of the buns on top of her head is replaced with flowing blonde hair. Her eyes are closed but her cheeks are stained with tears. One of her hands is interlocked with Tuxedo Kamen.

"Odango…" Sailor Star Fighter whispers. The scene before her is hard to watch. She doesn't want to see what looks like the death of the all the senshi on Earth. Her instinct to protect Sailor Moon kicks in. "We have to do something."

Sailor Star Healer and Sailor Star Maker turn to look at Sailor Star Fighter.

"But we have our responsibilities here." Sailor Star Makes responds quietly. She doesn't like the idea of what she witnessed either but the safety of Kinmoku must be their first priority.

"We owe Sailor Moon and her senshi so much. They stopped Chaos and gave us a chance to rebuild our planet. Without her… Chaos would have consumed all the galaxies." Princess Kakyuu pauses to look at the Starlights, knowing they are in difficult situation. No matter what happens, they will be conflicted between their duty to Kinmoku and the time they spent on Earth. "You will go to Earth to find a way to prevent this. We cannot let Sailor Moon die."

Sailor Star Healer is the first to object. "We need to stay here to protect you Princess! Let them handle their own planet!"

Princess Kakyuu shakes her head. "You know I am not defenseless here. They are others that can protect me. I need to you protect the other senshi and especially Sailor Moon. The Oracle's visions are rarely wrong. The best outcome would be to go to Earth and they are safe. But I would not want to take the risk the vision is correct and they parish." She looks at Sailor Star Healer. "I know that if we were in danger, Sailor Moon would do everything in her power to save us."

Sailor Star Healer looks down. She can't argue with her Princess especially when she knows she is right.

"It would make sense for us to go since we are the most familiar with Earth," Sailor Star Maker adds, trying to assess the situation logically.

Sailor Star Fighter takes a more direct approach. "When do we leave?" She can't sit by and watch harm come to Sailor Moon.

Sailor Star Maker glowers at Sailor Star Fighter's remarks. Of course Fighter would be anxious to go to Earth because of Sailor Moon. She will have talk to Healer later. Fighter is too much of loose cannon when it involves Sailor Moon.

"Tomorrow morning. Plan on residing there for a little while until this is resolved." Princess Kakyuu instructs them.

"Based on what we witnessed in the crystal ball, it would be best to observe and not interfere unless they are in danger." Yuta pauses for a moment, somewhat embarrassed on the uncertainty which surrounds this particular prediction. "Something seems off with this vision. It is as if it is fluid and could change. I know they are danger but I'm not sure if this will be the set outcome or if it can change with your help."

"Please be careful while you are there. I pray the vision is not the worst case of what will happen to the others." Princess Kakyuu tries to offer words of encouragement.

Sailor Star Maker quickly agrees. "We can observe them from the distance."

"It will be easier that way. Too many people would recognize us if we're not the Starlights." Sailor Star Healer cringes slightly at the thought of having to deal with fans again.

Sailor Star Fighter's eyes narrow and her tone reveals her annoyance. "Why do we have to wait until they are danger? What if we are too late? Then what?"

"You just want to see that girl," Sailor Star Healer quips at Fighter.

Sailor Star Fighter is quiet for a few seconds. "They could be in danger right now. Sitting around waiting doesn't make sense. We owe those senshi our lives."

There is a heavy silence that fills the room.

Yuta tries to diffuse the tension in the room. "The event you witnessed still has to play out. You have some time."

Sailor Star Fighter didn't want to hear anymore, "But those events still have to play out and when they do, they will die." Her anger flares.

Yuta shakes her head in disagreement. "This will not happen right away. I believe you have approximately one month to change the outcome. An evil like this does not appear overnight."

Sailor Star Fighter's stance relaxes slightly. It might not be as bad as she originally anticipated.

"Observation it is. We have to understand this enemy we will face and how to stop it before it creates mass destruction."

Sailor Star Healer shows her annoyance. "I'm not looking forward to listening to screaming fans again."

Sailor Star Maker and Sailor Star Fighter can't help but hang their heads slightly at the comment. Their purpose of singing to find their Princess worked great, they just weren't expecting so many additional admirers.

"I'm sure things have died down and the Three Lights are not so popular, we've been gone for a while." Sailor Star Fighter hopes.

Princess Kakyuu stands up. The Starlights handled the information how she expected. "I will leave you be to prepare to return to Earth. I will give you communicators so we can keep in touch this time."

The freed woman from behind the sealed door walks around what is left of her previous headquarters. She expected everything to be destroyed based on the outcome of the last fight. How much time had passed?

Her shoe crunches on something beneath her, a dried rose. Her eyes widen as she recalls a rose being used against her.

She will have her revenge; how dare that little girl imprison her. Her red eyes glow for a moment and some power begins to surge through her vines. She still feels weak, but somewhere within her is a power she didn't have before. A power she can use to crush her opponent.

Looking around the room she recognizes her first task, she needs to rebuild an army while she gathers her strength back. She has to be ready this time and feel stronger than she has ever felt.

The Queen stops in her tracks when she finds another woman in the room with her. She has long flowing silver hair wearing a black dress with red heels.

The newcomer bows her head slightly. "My master has sent me to assist you in your conquest. My name is Polaris."

The Queen's lips twitch. "Why would I need your help? I don't even know you or your Master."

Polaris frowns. "My Master believes it will benefit everyone for you to achieve your goals. She is the one that broke the seal on your imprisonment. I am here to provide whatever support you may need."

The Queen shifts some of her red hair to the side. She wants to tell her she doesn't need help. But if what Polaris has told her is correct, she would owe them a debt, something she hates even more. Her eyes narrow at Polaris to size her up, trying to determine how powerful she may be.

Polaris takes a few steps forward. "You are still weak from the seal being broken and it will take time for you recover your strength. I would like to help you increase your strength quicker." She glances around the empty room. "Your army is non-existent, unless you have another one you can summon."

The Queen glares at her. It will take her time and energy to rebuild an army. Perhaps she can use Polaris to her advantage until she is ready. In the meantime, she needs someone that can also keep an eye on this newcomer as well. "I can think of someone that I am sure wishes to redeem himself and to be freed from crystal imprisonment."

Polaris nods her head slightly to bow to the Queen. She holds out her hand to reveal four colored gemstones. "I understand these will be of great use to you." She smiles slightly.

Haruka and Michiru stand at the base of the stairs leading up to Hikawa Shrine. A place they have visited when they needed to see the other senshi, typically when they were in danger. This trip is no exception as to why they are here today.

"If any of them would recognize something is amiss, it would be Rei-chan." Michiru states as they begin to ascend the steps.

Haruka nods her head in agreement. "We should probably come here sometime when the Earth is not in danger, I'm sure it's rather peaceful."

"Peaceful… I wonder when that will be." Haruka's face turned serious. "But we will always be senshi. Protecting our Princess and future Queen is our mission."

They arrive at the top of the staircase, pausing for a moment to see if anyone else is around. They find Rei tying okmikuji, paper fortunes, to a tree to hope for a better outcome for those that drew bad fortunes at the shrine.

Before they approach the shrine maiden and break the calmness that surrounds these scared grounds, they wait for Rei to finish tying the fortunes on the tree branches.

Rei can feel their presence behind her; making her feel uneasy. "You've felt it too, that is why you're here," Rei states as she turns around to greet Michiru at the shrine.

Michiru simply nods her head in acknowledgement. "Even Setsuna-san is on edge. She has returned to this time. Something doesn't feel right to her."

"How can that be?" Rei becomes alarmed at Michiru's response.

"She said something about a new path is forming but we're not sure what it means." Haruka added with a shrug. "We need to be on guard, all of us."

Rei is quiet as she contemplates what she is told. Her vision is the Great Fire is in line with the visit by the Outer Senshi. Something is truly waiting for them. Something that is evil and very dangerous.

She looks up to the sky as twilight approaches. "As soon as we become too comfortable with not fighting, a new threat approaches."

Haruka smiles slightly. "That will never change."

"It is the cross we bare as senshi." Michiru adds solemnly.

Three shooting stars land quietly in Arisugawa Park, the flora obstructing them from view. It was a taxing journey, they had forgotten how long and how much energy it took to travel between galaxies.

Sailor Star Fighter leads against a tree for a moment, trying to catch her breath. Peeking out from between some of the leaves she can see the tip of Tokyo Tower in the distance.

A sigh escapes Sailor Star Healer's lips. She wasn't sure if she was ready for this yet. There were things she missed about her life here but she could never admit it to the others. They didn't belong on Earth, their home is Kinmoku.

Sailor Star Maker studies her surroundings. Now that they are here, the battle is just beginning. Everything will change and become more complicated from this moment.

Chabudai – low table

Juban Park – is a fictional park featured multiple times throughout the 90s anime.

In Sailor Moon R during the Makai arc, Mamoru was found at a television studio since it was his job. The only time we ever see him at work, or have a clue what he does!

And that is a wrap for the first act! Lots of hints for who the senshi will be facing and the villain will be revealed in the next few parts. I don't plan on having this be a very long story but we shall see. I'm trying to fix many plot holes along the way.

The Starlights don't have to remain hidden for too long before the enemy makes the first move! Act 2: It Started as an Ordinary Day
