There was always one thing that Bae knew about the resident recorder keeper, and girlfriend, was the fact that nothing seemingly fazed her. She always told her that she didn't have any sort of fear which seemed like she was telling the truth. She is rather diligent when it comes to her duties in documenting every bit of information that has ever existed. Meaning that she would have to study things that would normally terrify people and none of it bothered her one bit. Like right now they were falling on a strange planet and you would think they were plummeting straight into the ground but they were falling at a ninety-degree angle so it was more like they were flying instead of falling. The only one freaking out is Bae as they both tried to figure out what to do next. "Can you stop freaking out?" Sophia said.
"I'm sorry! I normally would have hit the ground by now! But we've been falling for like, an hour!"
"It's fifty-six minutes!" Sophia corrected her.
"Oh, shut up! Where's our fun time you said we would have?!"
"I'm sorry, but I needed to do this," Sophia said as she calmly observed her surroundings and estimated that they were at least higher than any building on Earth. She noticed something glowing on a nearby mountain and she could tell that whatever it was, it was emitting a strange energy. Sophia flew towards it since it might be caused by this planet's strange gravity and Bae seemed to notice this.
"Hey! Where are you going?!" Bae watched Sophia fly off to the nearby mountain. "Oh come on! You could've brought me with you!"
Sophia came to a stop near the top of the mountain and she stared at a strange glowing purple artifact. She could feel that whatever is affecting the planet is a lot stronger near this object. Sophia put a barrier around the artifact and suddenly felt gravity pulling on her in the right direction. "There you go! I solved the problem." Sophia said to herself but noticed she could hear a faint scream and realized that she had forgotten about Bae. She looked in the direction of the scream and saw her falling to the ground. "Okay, so with the speed she is falling, and... There!" Sophia opened a portal perfectly underneath Bae and she held out her arms catching Bae as a portal opened above her.
"You jerk!" Bae said as she realized what happened. "If this ever happens again, which it'll never happen if I can help, don't forget me next time!"
"I-I didn't forget you. You're right here, aren't you?"
"You are pretty bad at lying."
"Why are you getting mad at me? You're the one who wanted to see what I do."
"Well, I didn't think you would just leave me like that!"
"You can trust me. I'll never let anything bad happen to you." Sophia said to reassure Bae.
"Look, I know I can trust you, but don't do that again."
"Alright, you have my word," Sophia said as she grabbed Bae's hand which caused the rat to be embarrassed a little. Sophia smiled at Bae which deepened the small blush a little and they both shared this moment of silence as they admired the scenery. Bae started to feel a little sad since this planet looked like it housed life at some point in the past.
"Hey, do you think you could bring everything back to this planet?"
"You mean bringing back all the life that died here?"
"Yeah..."
"Yeah, sorry no. I try not to meddle with the matters of life or death."
"What do you mean by that? Like you can't bring them back?"
"Oh, no. I can easily do things like that, but I rather not mess with that balance so I can how things see how things turn out naturally."
"Oh, I see." Sophia couldn't stand to see that sad look on Bae's face so she decided to do something she wanted.
"Fine. I won't bring back the original inhabitants, but I'll ensure that life will flourish again someday." Sophia held her arms out as her eyes began to intensely glow white and suddenly a white wave of light emitted from her. Weirdly enough when it washed over Bae the light felt strangely comforting and warm. Bae watched as the wave kept on going so far that she couldn't see anymore like the wave of light was going to reach the whole planet. She watched everything start to return to normal like how a normal planet should look as the plant life started to flourish once again. Bae was surprised when she felt something holding her hand and she looked at Sophia who smiled at her which caused the rat to blush a little. The mood was ruined right away the moment Sophia uttered these certain words. "Do you want to come with me to the next place? This planet has an unusual amount of supernatural activity." Bae yanked her hand away from Sophia's the moment she said those words.
"Nope."
"Boo. Who knew chaos would be so boring?" Sophia said playfully as she shrugged her shoulders and she noticed Bae took offence to that. But Sophia wouldn't try to make her come since she knew how scared the little rat could get. "I have to check this planet out soon. So I'll drop you back home and I'll go." Before she could even open a portal back to Earth she felt something tug at her coat and she looked to see Bae holding onto her sleeve.
"I'll... I'll go..."
"You sure?" Sophia asked as Bae slowly nodded and she grabbed her hand to help calm her down. "Okay, let's go," Sophia said as they both walked through a portal leading to the planet that she wanted to check out.
"What happened here?" Bae asked the moment they stepped through the portal as the first thing they saw was the ruins of a civilization. While they didn't see any bodies anywhere they both could tell that they weren't alone which that fact alone freaked Bae out. Bae nervously followed Sophia around she couldn't help but keep checking her surroundings and she let out a little yelp as she swore that she saw movement from one of the buildings.
"Hmm... humanoid, roughly the same lifespan as the average human..." Bae noticed that Sophia's eyes were glowing again and figured out that she must be looking into the past of this civilization. "Vastly different culture. They don't even have a god. Good, the gods are assholes. I see, only half of their population is dead. Wow! They achieved something humanity could never have. They never had any sort of war. No wonder this happened to them since what would be the point of weaponry if they always had peace? But what caused this?" While they walked through the streets of this ruined city, Bae felt something grab her ankle which sent a chill up her spine. Sophia nearly fell over as Bae jumped onto her back and she could only hear her freak out about something.
"S-Something touch me!" Sophia looked around to see what she was talking about and when she came face to face with a spirit. Bae closed her eyes and muttered to herself something she barely understood due to how fast it was.
"Hey, spirit? How did this happen to you?" Sophia spoke in its language which the spirit responded by slowly raising its arm pointing in a direction. "Why haven't you all moved onto the underworld? Wait a minute..." Sophia let out a wave of energy and once it swept over the entire city, it revealed all of those that died here which ranged to the hundreds of thousands maybe even in the millions. With her powers, she noticed that all the dead were gathered in one place which seemed pretty odd since they should have moved on already. Sophia decided to investigate the situation and she was walking through the sea of the dead, she felt Bae tighten her hold. She chuckled to herself as Bae started to hit her chest like she wanted something and noticed she was holding her hand out. She knew Bae needed some comfort and she was happy to give it to her. The moment she felt Sophia's hand her grip tightened a little and Sophia heard Bae let out a little whimper. "Don't worry, Bae. Nothing will happen to you, and if something does happen. Those ghosts won't even have an afterlife to go to." Bae nodded as Sophia began to fly to the investigate area.
"Where are we going?" Bae asked when she noticed that they were flying somewhere. It was an empty field near the city, she could tell that this place had nothing special about it. Bae let go of Sophia the moment they touched the ground. She watched Sophia walk around like she was looking for something and she came to a stop with a view of the field. The next thing to happen completely surprised her as Sophia snapped her finger and a big stone door slowly started to appear out of nowhere.
"So that's the problem, huh..." Sophia cracked her knuckles as she placed her hands on the door ready to open them. Bae watched as Sophia pushed open the door to reveal nothing but darkness which confused her.
"What is this?"
"It's this planet's underworld! I don't know why it was closed like this but now it's open for the dead." Sophia turned towards nothing which once again confused Bae. "Alright, everybody! You can move on!"
"W-Wait! You can see them?!"
"Yeah, I can. That empty field we flew over to get here was full of them."
"Oh, god..."
"That dumb bag of bones, why did he know about this? Or maybe he didn't realize? Geez, why is this whole universe out of balance? Ugh, I'll have to fix myself. It's not like anyone else will." Bae watched as Sophia complained to herself before stopping entirely and she gestured for her to come over to her. "Come on, let's go figure out what caused all this." Sophia grabbed Bar before they flew off in the direction they were shown.
"Do you know what happened here?" Bae asked.
"I don't know, but something attacked them and I have a feeling where we are going we'll find out what did it." At the speed they going, they were able to find out what killed all those aliens and it was some monster that was taller than any animal found on Earth, it was currently fifty metres tall. The beast was currently asleep, its muscles were big even for something of its size. The only way to describe this monster was it looked like some weird buff lizard. The moment Sophia put Bae down on the nearby hill the monster twitched before getting up. "Ah, I see. You have excellent hearing." Sophia said as the beast growled at them before charging at them on all fours. "Makes sense, you are top-heavy," Sophia said as she flew at it, it took a swing at her but she casually flew around it. With every swing of the monster Sophia just casually dodged it which made the beast angry.
"Be careful!" Bae shouted out.
"I see. You're not a natural living creature. Someone created you and dropped you on this planet." Sophia said as she kicked away one of its attacks. "They were more of you but you're all hyper aggressive so they killed each other when they all ran into one another." At the same time, Sophia was able to easily dodge each attack until one of its claws was right in her face. "I see, you're also intelligent-" Sophia said before she smacked into the ground hard enough to leave a small crater. "I guess it started to learn my pattern of dodging." Sophia flew straight up when the monster started to attack again, she kicked its attack to the side and gave it a spinning upward kick to its jaw with enough force to send it up in the air. "But your hyper-aggression gets in the way of your intelligence!"
"Did you just spin kick?" Bae asked in disbelief.
"Yeah. I always wanted to do that." Sophia said as she felt proud of herself for accomplishing something like that. She flew over to Bae as the monster came crashing down behind her. "I think this planet should be fine now."
"So, we're done here?"
"Yep!" Sophia said with a smile but that smile disappeared when she felt something clamped down on her leg and she looked to see that the monster was still alive. "Oh, I guess it's more durable than I thought because-" Before she could even finish what she was saying the monster threw her away. Bae could only watch as Sophia quickly disappeared into the distance and when she could not track her anymore she could see a building in the distance began to collapse. Bae quickly put her attention back to the monster which was already in attack and before it could make contact Bae jumped over it. She pulled out a single die and threw it at the monster which grew to many, many times its original size crushing the monster. At least, that's what she thought but realized that if someone like Sophia wasn't able to defeat those attacks, it would take more than what she just did. The die started to shake forcing Bae to jump off it and she when did, she turned around just in time to dodge the die being thrown at her. When she recovered Bae looked back to see that the monster's mouth was a mere two feet from her and knew nothing she could do right now could save herself in time. Before she could even react, it looked like the monster fell over itself and Bae was surprised to see that monster clawing the ground as it was being dragged away. To her surprise again, Bae noticed Sophia was holding onto its tail and she watched her lift the monster up and repeatedly slam it against the ground before tossing it to the side. "You dare try to hurt Bae!" Sophia flew at it before punching it in the gut which sent it flying a mile away from them. That seemed to anger the beast even more as it charged back at them at full speed when it recovered from the attack. Bae noticed a strange expression on Sophia's face but couldn't exactly tell what it was. Sophia's eyes began to glow brightly and she raised her arm like she was going to chop it. Another thing Bae learned about Sophia, is with her power, she is the strongest being in this universe with very little to oppose her and it is honestly kind of terrifying when you think about it.
"I'm ending this..." Sophia made a chopping motion the next moment the monster was split apart as it was cut in half by something. "One more thing." She raised her arm upwards towards the sky as a ball of light formed at her hand. A portal opened as the ball of light shot towards it before the portal closed and Bae couldn't help but wonder what that was for.
"What was that?" Bae could have sworn she saw a faint flash of light in the sky.
"That was nothing." Before Bae could question her any further Sophia interrupted her. "I, um, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to take you to such dangerous places."
"It's fine. I did want to see what you did after all. Is this a normal occurrence?"
"No, lately strange things have been happening. I should watch over this planet. I don't want this race to suddenly develop a violent streak."
"Alright, now that is done. Let's go! I promised a fun time, didn't I?" Sophia said while leading Bae back home and she couldn't help but think about one thing. She figured out what that expression was, it looked like she was scared but she knew it wasn't caused by the monster itself and more like what it was about to do. It made her happy that even someone like her was scared of something and that fear was only for her. Sophia seemed to notice Bae was smiling and couldn't help but be curious about why. "What's up? Why are you smiling?"
"Oh, nothing."
"Come on! You're not going to tell me?"
"Yep!"
"Boo." Bae playfully giggled as they both walked through the portal leaving the planet to recover.
