Friendly Foreign Exchange Student Spiderman!:
Heroes Mission USA

Prologue

The sunset had begun in a suburb of Long Island, New York. For one, within a line of houses was another end of the day for a fifteen-year-old girl settled inside her bedroom.

With short brown hair, she has a raccoon-looking body with multicolored fur, ears, a dark facial mask, and a broad-ringed tail. Seated on a chair close to her desk and the laptop, her brown eyes stare at a new anime recommended by her friends.

With the ending credits being shown for the first episode, it did catch her interest with the two female leads and the promising premise. She's about to watch the next episode when she hears a car driving nearby, stopping close to her house.

The raccoon girl grabs what's close to her laptop, a printed paper, and an opened envelope sent from a particular high school; she places it back inside its slim packaging and quickly walks downstairs to the kitchen with her phone. She puts the letter under the other opened mail on the counter and sets up the dining table for dinner.

The surprise for her mother is set.

The sound of the front door is opened, and a middle-aged woman is heard. "Hi, Michelle."

"Hey mum, welcome back." The daughter responds while she puts the oven on.

Sandra Kinderman is a tall woman with an albino raccoon tail and ears, with her long brown hair reaching the top of her back. She is dressed in office attire and has a sizeable squared shoulder bag.

"Did Wendy give us something new to eat?" The mother asks, arriving at the kitchen.

As she spoke, the raccoon girl opened the fridge. "Yep, she made a homemade deep-dish pizza."

Smiling, Sandra couldn't help but nod sideways with her eyes up. "Still thinks she's living in Chicago…"

"Well, I don't mind trying different types occasionally. Even Italy has its own different variations of a pizza." While Michelle speaks, she gets out the cold meal and places close to the oven, waiting for it to heat up at the right temperature.

She points at the small envelope pile at the counter. "I also opened up today's letters."

"Thank you." Sandra responds.

After placing her bag on the table, she checks the mail. Most of them were either monthly bills or coupon discounts. The latter had none that interested her. Until Sandra finds a letter from Xavier Heroics Charter School in Boston.

This one, in particular, caught the mother by surprise. Sandra took out the papers inside and began reading the contents. The more she read, the more her eyes and mouth widened. She turns to her daughter. "Michelle?"

The raccoon girl looks at her mother, confused. "Yeah, what?"

"This is one from Xavier!" She shows the envelope with the school's symbol.

"Seriously?! What does it say?" Michelle asks in surprise.

Her mother looks at the letter again. "It says something about your entrance exam graded and instructions for… activating the video message?"

"Give me the envelope, Mum." The raccoon girl raises her hand, which Sandra gives her while she rereads the unfolded paper.

Michelle rummages inside to find and gets out a circular gray metallic object that's thin in thickness, with the top having a noticeable red-shaped "X" on it.

"Mum, tell me about the instructions. I think it's for this thing." She instructs her.

Sandra, seeing the device too, adhered to her demand. "Okay, umm… basically, it says to place it on a flat surface. Press and hold the "X" shape button and release when it begins sounding a beeping noise."

The raccoon girl follows what her mother is saying. When the small circle begins, the sounds of multiple beeps, and she lets go of her finger on the red button. A tiny light appears in the center, then spreads upwards to create a rectangular holographic video projection that automatically begins to play.

It first shows the logo and name of the academy, transitioning to show the inside of a very furbished office, with a man standing and arms behind his back. The most noticeable feature is his bald head, wearing stylish shoes, a suit, and a tie. His eyes already staring at the camera.

"Good evening, Miss Michelle Kinderman, and congratulations on finishing the exams. I'm Professor Jacob Francis, principal of Xavier Heroics Charter School." He switches his hands to be in front and holds them together. "Miss Kinderman, you passed the written test. But, in your practical and my apologies for being too blunt, the nervousness really took the better of you."

Sandra began to be a little concerned while Michelle remained neutral.

Jacob starts to walk to his left. "Your nerves clearly made you delay in deciding and taking the initiative. As a result, you missed several chances that cost you a lot of points." He stops at a side where the camera can still see him. "That being said, while your performance in the practical wasn't exactly favorable…"

He gets a TV remote that is off-screen. "…there was something that caught the interest of the judges."

He presses a button from the remote, which brings the projector screen on and instantly reveals a screen featuring different images of Michelle participating in the practical exam. Each displays a part of her body having been changed to take on the form of other animal species, like rabbit ears, cheetah legs, gorilla arms, bird wings, and a canine snout.

Francis is looking at the screen while he continues. "At first glance, your Quirk looks like a normal mutant type. But you clearly showed to have diverse abilities beyond your outward appearance. While we grade on combat and rescue, we also review the potential of someone's Quirk."

He then switches to look at the camera again. "And theorizing the many possibilities, we believe you can go way beyond what you have shown."

"Which means we believe you have what it takes. Congratulations, and welcome to the Hero Course of Xavier Heroics Charter School." The video ends with a transition effect to show the school's logo.

A scream of joy from the older woman behind her causes Michelle to startle, not expecting such a reaction.

"YOU PASSED! YOU'RE IN!" Sandra congratulates.

The raccoon girl gets up from her chair. "I know. I saw this before you came. Surprise!"

Her mother reacts in shock but is still proud either way. "What?! Oh, why you bad little sneaky…!"

They hug tightly and yell happily, their minds slowly adjusting to the fact that this teenage girl has been accepted by the most popular and challenging Hero Course to get into in the eastern United States.

"Honestly, I thought we would have to try the alternatives. But anyway, this is definitely something to celebrate. I'll see if any of our family can join us!" Sandra lets go of the hug and leaves with her bag to go upstairs. "I'll get changed, so you get dinner ready."

"I will." After Michelle agrees, her mother begins her walk up the stairs to get changed before dinner.

Michelle's room has a couple objects no longer present, and her opened wardrobe is three-quarters empty due to most of that clothing being stashed in a large suitcase. She has just finished packing the second of the two identical ones, which includes a backpack. It isn't hard for her to move the luggage since the suitcases have rollers.

It has been a few weeks after that video message from Xavier, and now it is time to leave her house, which she may not return to for three years.

She gets an alert from her phone and takes a look. Michelle reads and humorously reacts to a Pro Hero-related news flash. "Poor Skycrawler said something he shouldn't have again."

Since he still has problems speaking English, his recent live interview caused him to accidentally say he would beat any villain to death. These humorous mistakes made Michelle start following the Japanese hero.

Michelle, now close to the entrance of her room, looks around one more time to mentally say farewell to the place she had stayed for most of her life. The raccoon girl turns to her desk to see a framed photo of her, the mother, and a normal-looking man. Michelle reacts sadly when viewing the person with a slightly wide figure, bald top, and full beard.

"Michelle, you all packed?" She then hears Sandra arriving in the bedroom, wearing a different work suit for the day.

Michelle nods. "Yep, all done."

Her mother takes one of the suitcases, and they carefully go down the stairs with the heavyweights until they arrive outside the house, where a taxi has already arrived at their home.

"Good morning, thanks for coming, sir." Sandra greets the driver.

The taxi man opens his trunk, ready to place the baggage. "No prob, ride for JFK airport?"

"Correct, here you go." The mother responds, giving the suitcases to the driver to put in the cab.

Sandra looks at her daughter, putting both hands on the raccoon girl's shoulders. "Again, I'm so sorry I can't come with you to the airport."

"It's okay, Mum." Michelle assures her. She then looks away and stops smiling, hesitant to say her following words. "Also, did you hear anything from… dad?"

Sandra is feeling the same way. "Sorry, honey."

Michelle reacts in disappointment. "Okay…"

Her mother then hugs her teenage child one last time. "Contact me for any problems you have. Goodbye, sweetie."

The raccoon girl also joins the hug. "Thanks, bye mum."

Usually, the streets of Brooklyn at night would have the white noise of cars and buses driving and the outdoor metro trains constantly active. But on this occasion, one of the loudest noises taking over is a honking and speeding, unmarked, heavily armored truck. It's getting away from an owl-looking woman rushing after it in mid-flight, flapping her wings, trying to get closer to the vehicle.

Her feathered body is colored dark brown and cinnamon. Her costume is a tight fit with black and red lines on the torso and the same color on the leggings.

Placing her wing-arms behind, the feathers harden and gain sharp edges; she swings her wings forward, with the feathers shooting off like darts. The ten projectiles pierce the outer shell of the truck but only cause minor scratches. She grunts in annoyance.

"Greetings lady, I'm here to help."

The owl woman then looks at a levitating man next to her: Captain Celebrity.

She is glad to have some support. "Thanks, I'm Strigidae. Also, street light."

Confused, he looks in front to see a large pole approaching. Startled, he quickly dodges the street light with his mohawk hair touching the tall metal rod.

"Phew, close one. Maybe no one filmed that?" He expresses hopefully.

Strigidae couldn't help but smirk. "Buddy, we got bigger issues than cameras."

Both flying Pro Heroes look down to see the truck's backdoors wide open, with both criminals' faces covered in a full-face mask with only the eyes visible. One throwing lava bombs, the other finger-snapping shockwaves toward their pursuers.

Strigidae and Captain Celebrity evade the attacks, veering in different directions. The criminal attacks helped them widen the gap between the two flying heroes.

Captain Celebrity speaks up, looking towards his flying partner with an idea. "Strigidae, have them concentrate on you and I'll deal with their ride."

Before Strigidae could respond, she heard a different man coming from her earpiece. "Hey Susan, I see you."

She silently frowns, knowing who it is. "Glad you can help, where are you Arachnius?"

"Right in front, gonna stop them myself."

The armored truck suddenly encounters a roadblock when a new person arrives in the middle of the road.

It is a black and orange spider-looking man with six additional spider-like eyes on the forehead, fangs each under his ears, two extra arms, and slim spider legs behind the top of his back. All his four hands are sharp claws. His tight, thin, costumed suit covers the entire body except for the hands, feet, and head. The colors are primarily black with long, dark orange tribal-style lines.

Before the truck could react to the single-man roadblock, Arachnius spits a giant ball of webbing, quickly spreading out to land directly on the vehicle, engulfing the front windshield.

With his arm spread out, Arachnius aims at a close street light; his wrist releases a line of thick web, and he pulls the improvised rope gliding towards the metal rod.

Completely blind, the vehicle swerves. The truck's front crashes full force onto a building's wall

"Come on! Seriously?!" Calls out Strigidae in anger.

Arachnius knows the shout is directed at him but doesn't seem bothered as he jumps off the street light and walks toward the accident.

The owl woman lands close to him, unsatisfied with his recent actions. "Was there no other way to deal with that safely?!"

He stops walking, looking directly at Susan. "Lady, it's a wall, not a person; didn't have more webbing to drag this out."

"Clearly, you had plenty with the way you evaded!" Strigidae points at the metal pole partially covered in webbing

The man-spider is now annoyed. "So I guess you had your own quick plan to-"

"Hey, enough, you two." Still keeping himself afloat, Captain Celebrity interjects as he approaches them.

"This isn't the time; we still have work to do here." He switches to pointing at the crashed truck.

"Did you actually try to discipline us like we're kids?" Arachnius reacts unimpressed, also looking around to see some onlookers begin to gather around and visually capture the scene with their phones.

Christopher stumbles his composure but immediately reverts back with a forced cough. "Absolutely! My son's a big fan of mine. So naturally, he must see how a great and rehabilitated Pro Hero like me should behave in any situation!"

He then looks away, whispering to himself. "And also, get higher in the national hero ranking- Now then! Let's secure those dangerous wrongdoers until the police arrive."

Captain Celebrity slowly soars toward the accident while proudly waving to the growing and elated crowd. The two Quirk mutants follow him, although baffled since Strigidae heard those silent words and told them to her partner.

"Seriously? Isn't he currently like what, back to number ten or something?" Arachnius asks the owl woman.

Susan first responds with a shrug. "Cleary, it's not enough. At least he's better than…"

Suddenly, the loud sound of cracks and sloshes is heard inside the crashed truck, with a loud agonizing scream of pain from one of the occupants.

"My hand! My fucking hand!"

The three Pro Heroes stop in puzzlement at those noises, with the gathered crowd also changing their cheers to confused stares at the accident.

"AH! Too hot! Too ho-!"

Grey smoke begins to fill inside it, and the back is opened to reveal a walking mass of hard lava in the form of a person struggling to get out but falling to the ground, turning into a steaming igneous rock statue.

This sudden change prompted Captain Celebrity to fly directly toward the smoking truck. Still, Strigidae halts him by holding one of his legs. "Dude, what are you doing?"

Christopher looks behind. "Save them, obviously!"

A woman's shriek causes the two to look at the now burning accident to see another criminal out of the driver's seat and crawling on the ground. Everyone reacts similarly to the horrified woman with shock, disgust, or aversion. Even Captain Celebrity pushes up his visor to be sure of what he is seeing.

The entire skin of the man's body had been changed to bark, with several branches growing around him. The wood was growing so fast that it ripped off his shoes and created holes in his clothing. The tree man looks up to see the three Pro Heroes staring at him in shock; he struggles to lift his hand, trying to reach them.

"H-help…"

It was the criminal's last words as he stopped breathing with even the eyes covered in bark; his whole figure became utterly motionless, petrified like a wood carving.

People began to film or take pictures of these horrifying moments or others murmuring to one another. For the three heroes, it is just silence until Strigidae utters words similar to what Captain Celebrity and Arachnius are thinking.

"What was that?"

The rising sound of sirens signaled the arrival of a police car. The car stops, and two policemen come out; one is thin, and the other plump.

The slim man is direct. "What happened here?"

Christopher took the initiative and gave a short summary to the cop. "Me and these two were chasing this truck, but as you can see, it led to this crash. But I swear the rest of it wasn't our fault."

The thin policeman looks at the scene, deciding to first do the usual procedures. "Alright, my partner and I will make a perimeter."

The two officers split up towards the spectators. The three heroes involved in the chase are still confused after what happened.

Strigidae looks to Captain Celebrity, hoping to get some answers. "Do you know anything about this, Cap?"

Before responding, he rubbed his forehead while the other hand held the visor. "Not much. All I know is that truck exited a facility that was just recently raided for moving unchecked goods around the city."

Then, the sound of a phone call is heard from Christopher, and he checks it to see if it's a number that needs to be answered. "Sorry about this, give me a sec."

The owl lady nods as he turns around and walks far from the two Pro Heroes before speaking to the caller. "Hi Makoto."

"Captain, I'm seeing you on TV. Need some backup?" Asks the voice of a Japanese woman.

"No need. The situation here has ended." The blond man then looks around to make sure no one is close to overhear him. Worried, he speaks silently. "But is Koichi available? I must speak to him too, this feels... familiar."

Back with the owl woman and the man-spider, they look back at the burning truck, which is now being dealt with by a recently arrived fire engine. A few more police cars have come as well.

"Are you sure about what you saw? All I see is a burning truck." Explains Arachnius.

"My owl-like eyes don't lie. I saw some mysterious small green fumes released alongside the smoke from the opened rear doors. I have no idea what it is. Maybe it had something to do with the criminals' abnormal deaths?"

"Nope, it's most likely them dying from Trigger overdose." The man-spider responds with certainty.

A small-spaced personal office has little for furnishing except a large bookcase and a wooden desk. But behind the fancy and red soft padded chair is an exact size copy of the painting of Scene at the Signing of the Constitution of the United States, where a long line of light aimed at the artwork is the only source illuminating the entire room.

Standing close and looking at the picture is a tall, slim man with luminescent light blue skin, a shaved head of dark blue hair, a goatee mustache, and arrow-shaped earrings. He is wearing a long white cloak with dark red parts inside that cover his entire body.

Hearing knocks from the door, he turns around to hold a remote on his desk. The blue-skinned man presses a button to switch on more lights, and now the office is illuminated in a yellow glow.

"Come in." He calls.

The door opens to reveal an athletically-built woman with short mint green hair and the same color sharp eyes. She wears a brownish frock and a white monastic scapular with a cowl, on which an emblem is embroidered, with cream-colored boots and a mask obscuring the lower part of her face.

She walks a bit until she stops close to the entry. "Sir, it's time."

"All right, let's go." He responds and presses the remote again to switch off the lights.

Beros nods and gives space for the tall, cloaked person to enter the doorway. After passing her, she closes the office door and follows him along the bright yellow and small-spaced hallway.

They reach an area that splits with another path directed towards the right, where waiting for them is a very muscular, bald man with long grey fingernails and horns on his head. He is wearing the same clothing as Beros.

She wasn't expecting him to be there. "Leviathan?"

With a wide grin and arm around his chest, he bows profoundly and speaks eerie. "Oh! My sincerest apologies, Miss Beros, and the great Flect Turn! I have come because of something quite… unexpected that required your utmost attention."

"Tell me." Inquires Flect Turn as he stops to listen.

Leviathan ends the bow to reveal to be taller than the other two. "You see, our special sample that was supposed to come is no more. The delivery seems to have gone…" He instantly raises his hands up and increases his volume. "KABOOM! All burned up!"

"What do you mean? What happened?!" Demands Beros.

Leviathan chuckles. "It was quite the show, arrow lady. The courier men were on a chase with the cops and heroes, but they sadly crashed and caught fire, so everything inside the vehicle is now… gone forever."

While Flect Turn remains unperturbed, this causes Beros to move around in annoyance. "Crap, it'll be much more difficult to get us another sample now."

"Don't worry about that. It seems this new powerful variant works wonders!" Assures the giant muscular man in glee.

"How do you know?" Asks the still-calm Flect Turn.

Leviathan gets a tablet inside his frock; he touches the screen and gives it to the blue-skinned man. The device already plays an amateur video of the truck accident in Brooklyn that night; it shows two men dying due to the mysterious behavior of their Quirks. The one turning into dark rock and the other becoming a wooden figure.

"As you can see, it's very likely these poor unlucky souls have accidentally been consumed by this gas. Their Quirks went out of control and killed them in the process." Leviathan explains to them in menacing joy.

Beros, seeing the footage as well, is slightly alarmed but amazed by the results. "I see, so turning Ideo Trigger into a gas is, in fact, possible."

The footage ends with the truck being on fire; Flect Turn returns the tablet to Leviathan, satisfied with what he saw. "Then we don't need another sample to test it out. We shall remain low until the dust has settled for extra precaution. Leviathan, when the time is right, I will leave the procuring of this new Trigger variant to you."

He bows again, agreeing to this task. "Absolutely, you can count on me. And now, let's begin your introduction."

Leviathan begins walking along the right-side path while Flect Turn and Beros follow him from a fair distance. They arrive at a door where the tall, muscular man and the mint-haired woman continue walking towards it while Flect Turn halts. Beros opens the door to reveal the sound of people murmuring, which soon turns into silence, reacting to the two people coming out of the entrance.

The blue man hears Leviathan communicating to the now silent people. "Attention all ladies and every gentleman who's here! May we welcome our most important person to make their presence, the leader of Humarise, Flect Turn!"

A thunderous applause begins to fill the other side; the blue man begins his walk going through the opened door to enter a stone-carved underground hall where a large gathering of people is clapping and looking up at the top of the staircase, wearing identical clothing of Beros and Leviathan, who are now separated and placed in line with other people that are the closest to the blue man. Flect Turn waits patiently as the sound of claps slowly evaporates until the silence has returned.

Thus, he begins his speech. "Why were superhuman powers, the meta-abilities known as Quirks, introduced upon our kind?"

Above the staircase, a projected screen shows a large marble design of a pillar holding the statue of an infant sleeping calmly on a comfortable cradle with flowers as the bedding.

He looks behind, pointing at it. "Why was the first metahuman, The Shining Baby, born unto us? Their impact was so grand this famous Italian artist immortalized them into a work of art and is now a cultural heritage."

Staring down at his hands, Flect Turn continues. "Sadly, we either continue to speculate, may never know, or is beyond our current knowledge. As a result, we casually live with it, and almost everyone sees this as a convenience and beneficial for society."

The blue man returns to view the crowd. "While that may be true, we are the few who realize that one day, this blessing on our world will eventually… become a curse for humanity."

Beros walks towards her leader and gives him a book; Flect Turn holds it with both hands and lifts it up. "It is foretold in the Quirk Doomsday Theory, which postulates the Quirk Singularity concept." He lowers his holding on the book. "Many, of course, ridicule this knowledge, that it's absurd and lacking the proof. But look at the clear evidence!"

He directs the crowd to the projected screen again, showing different looped videos of people using their powers. Those include a destructive brawl between kids on a playground where the adults can't stop them due to how powerful their Quirks are, a young slim crocodile man with his arm morphing into a chainsaw fighting the police, a feline woman and canine lady violently fighting like animals in a shopping mall, showing Pro Heroes like All Might, Star and Stripe, Big Red Dot, Godzilla, Mr. Plastic accidentally causing damage during hero work and a Pro Heroine using her ability to create a giant tornado.

"As generations pass, powers mix and evolve. Eventually, they will become so powerful that one can control their abilities. Experts say it is just a short phase that will eventually calm down. But we know otherwise, and if we don't do something, our glorious country shall be no more."

The projection is switched off, and the place illuminates more to reveal the United States flag from that wall. Instead of the small white stars on the upper left blue canton square, they are replaced with the organization's symbol.

"That's why we exist: to prevent an unprecedented tragedy and ensure our fellow citizens' salvation. Protect this great nation gifted to us by the Founding Fathers, our gods." Flect Turn places a hand on his heart. "For centuries, our home has been the beacon of light and grand feats of greatness towards not just us, but also for the entire world, way before Quirks appeared. So, we can still do the same even without relying on our meta-abilities."

He then walks around a bit. "That's why we must take over our country to create more restrictive Quirk laws to prevent people from using their superpowers as much as possible so that the Quirk Singularity will never happen, which includes the banning of Pro Heroes. With today marking the anniversary of our formation, I'm proud to see how much we've grown in our pursuit to take action. But we still need more time for our plan to come to fruition, we must wait a little longer."

He finishes his speech by first raising both his hands. "We, Humarise, must prevail. Even if it means sacrificing our great nation with blood, that will simply be our righteous burden to bear. For our great nation and the Founding Fathers."

"For our great nation and the Founding Fathers!"

"For our great nation and the Founding Fathers!"

Everyone in attendance begins repeating that phrase, showing loyalty to the group and belief in their righteous cause. Completely hidden from the outside world.

Finally, a new chapter, and I'm sorry to everyone waiting for so long for another update. It took me a long time to think of something new for this sidestory and wait for the editing by the stern but very supportive LD1449 with his revision abilities.

This prologue represents the beginning of a new FFDESS: Academia story in another country. My inspiration for this new arc comes from two significant factors:

Star and Stripe

Her appearance in the MHA manga was a good touch, and it was interesting to finally see some hints of Pro Hero society in the United States. But since we may not see more of this part of the world in the manga, I decided to create my take on that country with new characters, canon Pro Heroes from the USA, including a few who were in the spin-off My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. The next one was also those I decided would be the antagonists in this arc.

Humarise

I liked the portrayal and design of the characters in this group. The problem was that although I enjoyed the World Heroes' Mission movie, the premise is ridiculous when you think harder. The villain's original plan and goal are nonsensical within the MHA world, no matter how they're evil or delusional. Zaru and LD convinced me about this. But I still like to use Humarise for my following chapters, so I had to change their ideals and mission and be a much smaller organization. I stand on those changes, while I'm sure some disagree.

I hope you enjoyed this and the next, and I'll try not to take too long since I'm already working on chapter one.
