SONG: You take the breath out of my lungs…Can't even fight it…And all of the words out of my mouth without even tryin'…Starin' at you, standin' there, in that dress…What it's doin' to me, ain't a secret…After all this time I'm just as nervous…Every time you walk into the room…I'm speechless ~ Speechless by Dan + Shay
Chapter 13
Stiles:
"So, are you ready for tonight?" Scott asked from the passenger seat. We were headed to Allison and Lydia's to pick up the girls for the dance.
He knew I was. We had gone to the store together just last night and for the first time in my life I bought condoms. It didn't help that he caught the slight tremor in my hand as I picked them up. He said nothing but he knew, and I tried my damnedest not to feel embarrassed. He didn't even razz me about them, just clapped me on the back.
"As ready as I will ever be." I sighed, tapping my thumb against the wheel.
"Nervous?" Isaac asked from the back.
"As hell." I admitted. "Not so much for the actual act itself but, the whole thing, I guess. If that makes sense."
"It does. I was the same way." Scott said.
"Me too." Isaac chimed in. Scott turned to him.
"You answered the door shirtless." He reminded him.
"Didn't make me any less nervous. Horny definitely but still nervous."
"How did… wait, Isaac-."
"Don't worry, I promise to keep whatever is said to myself."
"Thanks. How did you get past the nerves? Because I'm terrified of screwing this up and making it a bad night for her."
"It won't be a bad night for either of you. There's no science to this."
"I know, I'm just, I feel like I should have a checklist or something but that sounds stupid."
"Yes it does." Isaac agreed. I rolled my eyes and looked to Scott.
"You don't need a checklist. I hate to sound like our freshman year Phys Ed teacher but it's the most natural thing in the world. I know this is hard for you but don't think about it. If you think about it then it becomes more clinical. Do what feels right, what feels good. That's it. That's all."
"If it helps, I let Al-." Isaac started then stopped, glancing nervously at Scott, who laughed at him.
"Dude, I was literally in the next room over from you when it happened. This conversation won't be anything I would be surprised about."
"Right, because that's not disconcerting in the least. Anyway, I let her lead me. Trial and error. She told me what she liked, and we tried that. If something didn't feel right we tried something else."
"That's… actually good advice. Thanks."
He nodded.
"Do you have condoms?" Isaac asked. I snorted and groaned at the same time.
"Yeah, too many. Dad basically knows what's going to happen."
"You told your dad?" both of them asked in unison.
"No, I didn't tell him. But he's caught us on more than one occasion practically dry humping in my room. So empty house, me, Malia yeah that wasn't a hard guess. He told me flat out, after an awkward heart to heart, that he put condoms in my night stand."
"And he's okay with this?" Scott asked incredulously.
"No, in his mind you and I are still racing wheelchairs down the hall at the hospital." I said, Scott chuckled reminiscing. "His words were 'I'm not stupid. I don't want confirmation on anything, but you are old enough to make these kinds of decisions for yourself, just be safe'."
"Wow." Isaac said in awe.
"I know right."
"And Malia is no longer worried about hurting you?"
"No, not really. We talked about the anchor thing and after learning what she learned about her birth mother. I think she finally trusted herself. But I did tell her that if she did start to feel like she was losing control to let me know. We would stop."
"That's good. I doubt she will but at least she has that reassurance." Scott said.
"Neither of you ever lost focus during that? I mean like it didn't trigger anything right?"
"Nope. Different set of urges. Separate instincts." Scott said.
"Yeah, I was nervous about it at first, but it didn't really come to mind to shift." Isaac added.
"Good, that's good." I said tapping my fingers harder.
"You are already over thinking things. I can see it. Just relax Stiles. Enjoy the dance. When it comes time, go as far as you both feel comfortable going."
"Oh my God, dude. I literally feel like I will explode if I am not with her." I admitted.
"That's a possibility… premature exploding, I mean." Isaac murmured.
"What?" I turned to look at him.
"Never mind, him." Scott reached back and hit in in the back of the head. "You are so not helping right now?"
"I'm just saying. You build it so much in your head and you're so into it and it can happen. Maybe your overthinking will come in handy. Just think of stuff to keep your mind off the big bang."
I pulled the jeep up in front of the building and parked. Turning in my seat I had to look at him.
"The big bang? Seriously?"
He shrugged. Scott shook his head.
"Okay, you're done talking now. Stiles, it's going to be fine. You're going to be fine. I swear. Now let's go get the girls."
"Yeah, okay."
Melissa and my dad were all standing around the living room when we got there. All with camera's at the ready. Argent went to let the girls know we were here, and I was anxious to see Malia in her dress. I know her and the girls all went to the spa this morning, she called it pre-gaming. Not sure where she heard that term.
As soon as she walked in the room my brain shut down. For the first time in my life, I was speechless. Short red silk dress that seem to mold to her curves like a second skin. Her long hair was straightened and only two clips held it out of her face. Ruby red lips smiled at me, and I almost swallowed my tongue. I could only whisper, 'wow' as she approached me her heels made her just about my height.
"Stiles, you're staring, again." She said.
"You look absolutely gorgeous." I told her.
"Thanks." She blushed. "Is that for me?" she asked pointing to the forgotten corsage in my hand.
"Oh, yes." I pulled it out and slipped it on her wrist. She lifted it to her nose and smiled.
"So pretty. Thank you."
"I want to kiss you so bad right now but I don't want to mess up your lipstick." I told her, pulling her to me.
"You can kiss me as much as you want later." She whispered.
"I plan too."
"Okay, picture time." Melissa announced. "Each couple and then a group."
"Mom." Scott groaned.
"Scott." She mocked. Everyone snickered at the exchange.
We took every variation of picture known to man and I swear to God, I really just wanted to confiscate all their phone so we could leave.
"Are we done? Kind of want to get to the dance before it's over." I asked my dad who was still snapping shots.
"Fine, fine. We are done." My dad said putting his phone away.
"Okay, I'm on overnight shift. I'll be home by 10:30 am at the latest. Do not trash my house." Melissa said to us. The story was that we were going to Scott's house to hang out after homecoming and probably crash. That's the story. The truth was that Allison and Isaac were going to Scott's, Scott and Lydia were going to her old house and Malia and I were going to my house.
"You're all hanging at Scott's when this is over?" Argent asked.
"Oh yeah. Just an after dance get together. You know go over important details and reflect. A debriefing if you will." I volunteered. I could hear Lydia cough in order not to laugh. Argent turned to my dad.
"Are you buying this?" he asked.
"To be honest, I haven't believed a word out of Stiles' mouth since he learned to talk." He sighed. I wanted to argue that, but it honestly made sense.
"I'm going to pretend I believe that. Be careful all of you but have fun at the dance." Argent said.
"Ditto." Melissa said. We waved to the parents as we left.
The dance was underway by the time we got there. The gym decorated in lights and streamers. It was nice but the girl on my arm still had my full attention. I didn't, however, miss Scott dragging Lydia out on the dance floor and start a slow dance… to 'Cruise'.
"I don't think that song is meant to be slow." I said looking at them.
"No, it's not. But I think they have a great idea." Malia said pulling my hand.
"Oh, you do not want me to dance to fast songs. I look like I am having a seizure. You want to dance with me on slow songs only, that way no one can see how terrible I am." I explained to her. She giggled and kept tugging me along.
"Come on Stiles. If we are doing this dance thing right then we are going to dance to any song, and I don't care how ridiculous we look."
"Fine, but I warned you." I told her when she found a corner for us on the crowded floor.
Just to get my point across I did every ridiculous dance I could remember pulling them from every generation I could think of. Malia stopped dancing and watched me in horror then threw her head back laughing. Smiling I pulled her to me and gave her a small kiss.
"Okay, now stop being silly and just dance with me, please."
"Alright." I said grabbing her hand and twirling her away and pulling her back in. "that I learned from watching Dirty Dancing."
"You watched Dirty Dancing?" she asked, surprised.
"Yes, I did. But in my defense I thought it was a different kind of film."
"Of course, you did." She snorted.
We danced to a couple of songs before taking pictures, again, and then finding Liam and Mason along with their dates at the table.
"Hey guys." I greeted sitting and pulling Malia on my lap.
"You were tearing up the dance floor out there grandpa, did you break a hip with those fancy moves?" Liam teased. Malia laughed hiding her face in my neck.
"Kids today, no respect for their elders." I sighed. Mason and their dates snickered at us. Scott and Lydia joined us while Isaac and Allison continued to make out on the dance floor.
We sat and talked for a while, drinking the way to sweet way to red punch that was made up. Malia took one sip and spit it back out. Trading stories with Scott and Liam and running my hand absently up and down her thigh, I couldn't not touch her in some way. I was in the middle of a lively conversation about how festive Mr. Odesida's toupee was looking when Malia gripped my hand.
"You're driving me crazy." She whispered. I looked and saw my hand had slipped underneath the skirt of her dress.
"Let's go dance some more." I told her standing and pulling her back out to the floor and into my arms. I couldn't stop drinking her in, inch by inch.
"Stiles" she whined. "You have to stop looking at me like that."
"Sorry, I can't help it. You look so amazing, and I can't help but wonder what is under that dress."
"Well, I could tell you." She grinned.
"No, let it be a surprise. I look at it as a gift I get to unwrap at the end of the night."
"Do we have to stay?"
"Yes we do. It's a normal thing to do."
"So is what we are doing later."
"True. But let's stay a little longer. I really like dancing with you."
"I like dancing with you too."
Malia:
The dance was over and walking into Stiles' house brought back all the nerves and worries I thought I had put behind me. I wanted this, I really did, and I wanted it with Stiles, but my heart was hammering, and my brain was overthinking and if Stiles didn't have a firm hold on my hand I would be wringing them right now. Every minute seems to be playing in slow motion. Him locking the door. The short yet long walk down the hall to his room. Every footstep echoed against the carpet, even though we had both kicked our shoes off at the door.
I looked around his room as if I hadn't been here a hundred times already. I already knew every inch of it, except it was neater tonight. No forgotten gear laying around, his computer shut and desk tidy. His closet door wasn't hanging open showing clothes hung crookedly. Even his hamper was empty. Only the lamp by his neatly made bed was on, the lighting soft. The click of his door closing made me turn back to him.
"You okay?" he asked leaning back against the door.
"Mmhmm." I nodded, even the sound came out shaky. He quirked a brow at my hands. I looked down and saw I was of course wringing them.
"Nervous?" he asked reaching for me and pulling me against him. His hands stroking my back helped a bit.
"Yes. Very." I admitted.
"We don't have to do this if-."
"No, I want to. I really do. It's just jitters."
"Me too." He said brushing his lips against mine.
"I've been told," he sighed, rolling his eyes, his lips quirking in that cute little smile. "That I overthink things too much. So, I have an idea. Trust me?"
"Always."
"Then… close your eyes Malia."
I smiled at the memory of the last time he told me that and took a deep breath closing my eyes.
Cupping my face he gave me a slow leisurely kiss, licking at my lips that I automatically opened for him. His hands sliding down my neck to my shoulders, slipping the thin straps of my dress down. Fingers found the zipper and slowly dragged it down. Lips trailed over my jaw, my neck, a nibble at my ear.
"So damn beautiful." He whispered. Continuing a path down my chest, over my breasts sliding the dress down as he went. I felt the dress pool at my feet and Stiles' tongue dip into my bellybutton. I gasped and my hands flew to his hair. How did that turn me on?
"Stiles."
His breath fanning against my skin as fingers dragged the rest down and off made me squeeze my eyes closed tighter and my own breathing to speed up. He kissed his way back up crushing his lips to mine. Moving me backwards I heard the rustle of his clothes coming off before we fell onto the bed.
My eyes opened when I heard wood scraping to see Stiles pull out a shiny foiled square and the nerves came back. I must have had the deer in the headlights look again because Stiles chuckled before kissing me again. Then hands were caressing my breast followed by a hot wet tongue. Gripping the sheets instead of him I squirmed beneath him groaning. He was trying to drive me insane.
"Stiles. Please."
I felt his weight settle over me. My eyes opened again realizing that we were pressed together skin to skin. My hands roamed touching as much as possible. It wasn't the first time I had seen him naked, but it still thrilled me. Stiles was deceptively built, leaner but still very fit. Fingers brushed hair away and stroked my face and he was looking at me in a way I couldn't really comprehend right now.
"Are you ready?" he whispered.
"Yes." I let out a shaky breath and my hands gripped his sides.
He smiled softly, pressing his forehead to mine. Then I felt him. My back arched, my lips parted, and I saw stars. My heart felt full to explosion. My mind clouded in bliss. There was no pain, no nerves, no worries or cares. There was just me and Stiles.
