As Paimon and I were being led through the Fortress of Meropide, the former hid behind me.
"Are you okay, Paimon", I asked.
"Of course Paimon's not okay", she replied. "Paimon's terrified! We're in a prison, filled with dangerous criminals!"
"Don't worry, Paimon", I reassured. "Just stick with me and you'll be okay."
After I said this, I continued to walk for a bit. However, I soon stopped in my tracks…when a familiar face came into my view.
When they spotted me, they too stopped in their tracks before looking at me in shock.
"Comrade", he said.
"Childe", I breathed out in relief.
"What are you…"
Before Childe could finish…I rushed up to him and ran into his chest.
As I clung to him tightly, tears threatened to fall from my eyes.
"Wow", Childe started. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were worried about me, Girlie?"
I didn't say anything…and I made sure to keep my head down so Childe wouldn't see my cheeks turning pink.
"But seriously", he started as he pulled away from me sightly. "What are you doing here?"
"We got ourselves arrested", Paimon revealed bluntly.
"What", Childe said in shock.
I then leaned closer to his ear and whispered to him what had happened. When I was done…he began laughing.
"I can't believe it", he started. "You got yourself arrested, Comrade? Just so you could check up on me?"
"Don't get so cocky, Mr", Paimon said. "We're here to investigate!"
"Oh", Childe started, before looking at me. "But you were worried about me, weren't you girlie?"
I didn't answer. I just grabbed my arm and turned my head so Childe couldn't see my cheeks turn even pinker.
But then, he put his hand on my on my chin and lifted it up so we were face to face.
"Well", he started. "If this means that we'll get to spend more time together, then maybe being trapped in the Fortress of Meropide isn't such a bad thing after all."
After Childe said this…my face started turning red.
However, the moment was soon broken up when our escort cleared her throat.
"Pardon the interruption, traveler", she started. "But I still need to show you to your room."
"Right", I said as I quickly pulled away from Childe. "I am so sorry about that!"
"Well then", Childe started. "I won't hold you up. "You'll come and find me later, won't you comrade? I've been rather bored stuck in here.
"We'll see", I replied. "Remember, I'm not just here for you."
"But you're here for me a little bit, right", Childe asked playfully. "That's enough for me. I look forward to seeing you again, Girlie!"
With that, Childe left, and both Paimon and I let out a sigh.
"Same old Childe as ever", she pointed out. "Guess that means he's okay?."
"Yeah", I agreed.
Then…a small smile came to my face.
