Episode 1
(No college guy argues like this.)
"This game is rated T. You wanted them to add a bunch of swearwords on a game mostly children would play so that you can feel this is real? Because aside from the swearing…nothing is unusual about this way of fighting. There is even physical violence." One sin added.
(Wait…that pink thing is Phoenix?)
"Yes." One sin added.
(The first tutorial case where they don't show us the culprit and…they expect us t think Phoenix did it? And to think: I was all ready to remove a sin for the broken pendant.)
"Nobody was thinking of it in those terms, least of all the game! The point is not to make you suspect Phoenix has the killer. It's to show you he had stood trial for murder five years before the present which is where he and Mia met. And there is not a single person who wasn't shocked the first time they saw this!" one sin added.
(Wait…five years before the cutscene? Is this the Terry Fawles case I keep hearing about? How long has Mia been a lawyer at this point? Wait…the cutscene happened…and I thought Dual destinies was confusing with what happened when!)
"So…the last game chronologically ended on the present, this game begins with the cutscene of a younger Phoenix followed by a sign saying "Five years earlier" and Pierce thinks the players are confused as to what is happening here. No, girl. I think that's just you."
[(College Feenie) Phoenix and Larry switched bodies for this case. This is my only explanation for this.]
"This takes place five years earlier. Wouldn't it be more sinful if Phoenix was exactly the same as he is now? He is a college student here. A majority of the students at college are that immature. If anything, this very case is the reason he decides to become more mature." One sin added.
[(In trial) Phoenix's sneezing. Are you sure this isn't SARS?]
"Pierce thinks common cold doesn't cause sneezing. It is played over the top here, but that's because…this is ace attorney." One sin added.
(I click that I don't need help with the cross-examination and the game gives me a tutorial anyway. What was the point of giving options, then?)
"What are you talking about? At no point does the game ask if you want a tutorial or not! Grossberg details the basics of cross-examination on his own. You can't make this shit up!" one sin added.
(Mia hurts her co-counsel whenever Dahlia is mentioned) Foreshadowing.]
"And…why is that a sin? You can't just say what is happening on the screen and say "it's a sin because I say so." Why is it a sin?" one sin added.
(Grossberg says his hemorrhoids are doing the Harlem Shake) Wait…was the Harlem shake even a thing in 2005?)
"Grossberg is not referring to the Harlem shake meme. He is referring to the original Harlem Shake which has existed since 1981. In other words, it's his generation's." one sin added.
(How does Grossberg not know why Mia is so interested in Dahlia in this trial? Are you telling me neither Mia nor Diego ever told him about the Terry Fawles trial? Did they conduct their investigation into her after the trial completely under their boss' nose? Does Grossberg really have no idea how Diego died until Mia showed shows him the news clipping later? How is it possible for their boss to be so oblivious?)
"It's explicitly stated later Mia and Diego conducted their investigation in secret and on their own. They couldn't risk anyone-Dahlia-getting word of it and trying to stop them. Grossberg has been shown to be pretty much oblivious to anything going on around him, so it's entirely possible he never found out what they were doing. He knows Diego got "Killed" but not by whom or why. Mia wanted to keep it a secret until she found a chance to prove it." One sin added.
(Does Mia carry around a news clipping about Diego's death wherever she goes or just to court for this case? I can never be sure on this one.)
"Since the information about Dahlia dating both the defendant and the victim was already in the court record, this means she knew of her involvement ahead of time and probably suspected her, too. She would have brought the news clipping to get a chance to accuse Dahlia of Diego's "Murder" when she took the stand." One sin added.
(Trial resumes.) Dahlia Hawthorne.]
"Pierce sins Dahlia for being a horrible person…when the point of her entire character is to be horrible and hated. You have to hate her or the relief and happiness for putting her behind bars goes away." one sin added.
(Well, we know whose milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.) What milkshake? She's flat as a sidewalk. The only one in this court with milk to shake is you, Mia.)
"This bullshit." One sin added.
"Also, Pierce talks to the screen cliché." One sin added.
(Dahlia implied that Mia is old, despite being only five years younger than her. Also, ironic since neither of them ever have the chance to grow old and both are killed off in their twenties.)
"So you get this is meant to be ironic…but you still sin it. Also, Dahlia is trying to throw Mia off the case and make her lose focus by being rude towards her. In other words, she is employing a very clever strategy." One sin added.
[(Bringing in Diego's death with regards to the current case.) Incident from x years ago is related to today cliché. In this case, two thirds of a year ago, but the core of the cliché remains.]
"And this incident turns out to be instrumental in throwing Dahlia behind bars and basically starting the events of the whole game. So…why is it a sin?" one sin added.
(Important question: if Diego Armando was investigating Dahlia for her crimes in the fourth case, why on earth would he agree to sit down and drink coffee-or ingest anything at all-with her around? He knows she kills by poisoning people!)
"Because even a seasoned, expert attorney like Diego is flawed? He and Mia worked on the case for months with no progress. He was getting desperate and made the mistake to try and get Dahlia to talk to him. Sure, a fatal mistake, but humans are prone to error. He believed that if they met in a public place-in the courthouse, no less-she wouldn't dare to try anything. That was his mistake: greatly underestimating the conniving and ruthlessness' of Dahlia. And coming to terms with his mistakes is a contributing factor to wrapping up his character arc by the final case." One sin added.
[(The plot to kill phoenix) Is there a reason Dahlia-or Iris as we later find out-couldn't have simply stolen the necklace back while Phoenix was in the shower? I know this elaborate plot is the only reason we are able to bring her down, but Phoenix knew nothing. Killing him would not only have been pointless, but it would have extra suspicion her way.. if Dahlia took the easier way out and didn't steal any poison, she would have gotten away with all three of her murders. Culprit foils her own plot for one of the most overdramatic and ridiculous of reasons.)
"Sinning characterization. Dahlia was not the one trying to steal it back. She wanted to kill Phoenix from moment one, because she was afraid he'd figure the truth out. We know he couldn't, but Dahlia is paranoid. 5 years of murders, false kidnappings, thefts and poisonings will do that to you. That's why Iris stepped in to try and get it back. But she couldn't because she fell in love with Phoenix and couldn't bring herself to break his heart. That's what lead to this case: Dahlia running out of patience and taking matters in her own hands. This is literally the cornerstone of the whole game. How do you miss it? " One sin added.
(Cool as this I, can't they just have the bottle analyzed? It would be a lot more definitive as evidence and what would happen if Payne called Mia's bluff and took the medicine?)
"He wouldn't do that. The whole point of the scene is he stated he would trust Dahlia with his own life. After proving how untrustworthy Dahlia is, Mia turns his words on him, challenging him to prove how much he trusts her. And even though he wants to win and is cocky, he will not put his own life on the line for anyone, especially Dahlia, post-breakdown. And Mia knows that." One sin added.
"Also, sinning Mia being a badass." ten sins added.
(Dahlia tells Mia they'll meet again.) In five years, when they're both dead. Who would have thought this prediction would actually come true?)
"No one! And that's why it's such an awesome twist in the final case. Where's the sin?" one sin added.
(Payne's breakdown) And that, my friends, is the origin story for how Payne went bald. I'm sure this is a burning question for all of us.)
"This is meant as a symbolism. Payne was a cocky and arrogant jerk for seven years of not losing a case…but now that a rookie crushes him, his spirit has been crushed, too. That's what the falling hair symbolizes and that's why he is so shitty in future cases. Are we good here or do I need to spoon-feed more to you?" One sin added.
(Phoenix says he's the most mature of his friend group, causing Mia to wonder who his friends are) Larry. Need I say more?]
"Pierce sins something she likes cliché." One sin added.
(Ending narration.)
"She said while narrating her own fanfic." One sin added.
Total sin tally: 33
Sentence: swallowing a glass necklace
